April 2024 TikTok trends you need to know
The rock paper scissor food challenge
For this latest trend, make sure to proceed with caution if you do decide to hop on as it may not be wise to inhale your food and run. The rock, paper, scissor food challenge is exactly what the same says it is. To try out this game, all you need is two contestants and your favourite fast food order of appetiser, main, and dessert. For instance, a Big Mac, fries, and a McFlurry. Then set up a camera outside or somewhere with enough space to run a short distance, around 45 metres. The goal of this challenge is to play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins gets to start eating the food, while the loser has to go for a short run. Once they’re back, you get to play again until all the food is finished.
The “I cry a lot, but I am so productive” trend
@greekfreak02 I cry alot #STEM #taylorswift #CapCut
After Taylor Swift released “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a trend has been going around TikTok where the sound uses the lyrics, “I cry a lot, but I am so productive.” In this video, users are seen posting a photo or video of them crying, yet during the “but I am so productive, it’s an art” part, there will be numerous clips of them excelling in something.
For instance, user @greekfreak02 uploaded a photo of her crying, but then the next insert was various clips of her productivity as a STEM student.
The “Parasites in me” trend

Tiffany Haddish’s revelation about her inner “parasite” and its insatiable cravings for guilty pleasures like candy and liquor during an interview for Disney’s Haunted Mansion (2023) has ignited a viral trend on TikTok. Her words have become the iconic audio backdrop for users to expose their own weaknesses and vices. To hop on this trend, all you have to do is write your bad habit. Then, during the parasite part, write “But the parasites in me want (weakness).”
The Victorian meme

Although using Victorian paintings as a meme has been around TikTok for a while, a new trend has appeared using the sound “Messa da Requiem: II Dies irae.” A slide of two images, the first being a man and a woman at court, where the man blames the woman for something. Then the second image is a close-up of that woman defending herself.
For example, some users are seen writing “She said she was gonna start going to the gym and eating healthy from Monday.” Then the lady replies, “Never said which Monday.” Another TikToker did a meme saying “Her and her best friend claim to be nice people but have nicknames only they know for everyone.” The response was “It’s just friendly names so we remember who we’re talking about.”
The “I’m working late cause I’m a singer” trend

Another viral song trend comes from Sabrina Carpenter after she released her latest hit “Espresso.” In this trend, you can see users lip-syncing to “I’m working late cause I’m a singer,” but on text they reveal what they’re actually working late for. For some it may be reading a book, binging a series, or building their dream life.
