This just in: Thailand is in talks with Formula One over a potential Grand Prix taking place in the hustling and bustling Bangkok. Racy, right?
Whilst we believe that driving the streets and sois of Bangkok should be regarded as a race event of its own, there is a possibility that the already-existing Grand Prix will be held in the metropolis, specifically on a street circuit.
Last month, in Paris, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and CEO of Formula One Group Stefano Domenicali discussed the possibility of Thailand hosting a street race. This comes as an attempt to boost the country’s reputation as a premier tourism hotspot.
The nation’s Prime Minister pitched the Land of Smiles as a prime destination to host both the Formula E Competition and MotoGp. And although nothing is set in stone, a post on X stated that F1 executives have visited Bangkok to inspect potential race routes.
With the recent increasing interest in the international racing team sport among Thai residents, we believe this classifies as exciting news for some.
