“Garden of Time” is such an easy theme, so we were really expecting the girls to turn it out (men will be in black suits anyway). Here are some of the best Met Gala 2024 memes and reactions from Twitter (X).

There’s no business like show business, and one of the events that perfectly showcases that saying is the Met Gala. We’re seeing a girl dressed with moving butterflies, corseted with wood, and costumed up in literal sand. The girls are definitely girling this time around, so reactions towards the Met Gala 2024 are full of love.

The red carpet of the Met Gala is something the world is looking forward to see. It’s the perfect chance for designers to go all out and feel the love from the community, all while utilising models and famous artists from all over the globe to walk down the runway in their creations. This year, it’s the “Garden of Time” — a wide theme easy to do, but not easy to wow.

The Met Gala is hosted by Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise funds for The Costume Institute that houses over 33,000 costumes and accessories panning over seven centuries. Business Insider reports that individual tickets cost $75,000, and entire tables cost $350,000. As such, it’s also common to see business moguls and billionaires walking down the same runway as the models.

Bangkok “pocket parks” to sprout across Thailand’s capital

Residents of the sprawling city of 11 million often say they lack public green spaces, with greenery only available for the wealthy — something Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has pledged to change.

Beguiled early European visitors once called Bangkok the Venice of Southeast Asia, but residents now contend with hazy traffic jams and a distinct lack of public space.

“You can see our city has many nice private properties but in terms of public investment, it is really bad,” retiree Suvit Chandthanakit, 61, told AFP.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Authority operates around 40 parks, but intends to double that number by adding flora to small disused plots hemmed in by motorways or high-rise buildings.

Spokesperson Aekvarunyoo Amrapala told AFP the parks — which contain walking tracks, sport courts and other exercise areas — are an effort to provide green spaces.

“It’s a big city so we try to make use of spaces to provide some nature,” he said.

Under two thrumming highway overpasses, office worker Pattaree Klongkongmuang is taking a stroll around Somdet Saranrat Maneerom Public Park.

“I just come here to avoid traffic because I finish work at the office at rush hour,” said the 36-year-old.

“I parked my car and walked around the park for an hour.”

A Michelin-starred meal is normally not expected at a theme park, but Disney World theme park in Florida has changed the game. Victoria & Albert’s restaurant was recently awarded a Michelin star, making it the first and only theme park restaurant to receive a star.

The Michelin Guide has announced 9 new additions to the Florida list, including the American fine dining restaurant Victoria & Albert’s, located at Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort.

In spite of its location just minutes away from the Magic Kingdom, the restaurant operates in an upscale manner, and children under 10 are not permitted to enter.

Victoria & Albert’s, helmed by Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers and Pastry Chef Ally Rogers, serves course menus that feature American flavours at their finest. The menu changes according to the season, with some familiar dishes like Langoustine Tartelette and Cinco Jotas Iberico Eclair.

Food is not the only thing that is award-winning at Victoria & Albert’s. Sommelier and maître d’hôtel Israel Pérez was also awarded the 2024 Florida Service Award.

With Michelin-guaranteed cuisine and an impressive collection of more than 500 wines, Victoria & Albert’s is definitely going to officially be on the foodie map from now on.

April 2024 TikTok trends you need to know

The rock paper scissor food challenge

https://www.tiktok.com/@bobbylightss/video/7359462446861421866?q=rock%20paper%20scissor&t=1714365156119

For this latest trend, make sure to proceed with caution if you do decide to hop on as it may not be wise to inhale your food and run. The rock, paper, scissor food challenge is exactly what the same says it is. To try out this game, all you need is two contestants and your favourite fast food order of appetiser, main, and dessert. For instance, a Big Mac, fries, and a McFlurry. Then set up a camera outside or somewhere with enough space to run a short distance, around 45 metres. The goal of this challenge is to play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins gets to start eating the food, while the loser has to go for a short run. Once they’re back, you get to play again until all the food is finished.

After Taylor Swift released “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a trend has been going around TikTok where the sound uses the lyrics, “I cry a lot, but I am so productive.” In this video, users are seen posting a photo or video of them crying, yet during the “but I am so productive, it’s an art” part, there will be numerous clips of them excelling in something.

For instance, user @greekfreak02 uploaded a photo of her crying, but then the next insert was various clips of her productivity as a STEM student.

Her words have become the iconic audio backdrop for users to expose their own weaknesses and vices. To hop on this trend, all you have to do is write your bad habit. Although using Victorian paintings as a meme has been around TikTok for a while, a new trend has appeared using the sound “Messa da Requiem: II Dies irae.” A slide of two images, the first being a man and a woman at court, where the man blames the woman for something. Then the second image is a close-up of that woman defending herself.

For example, some users are seen writing “She said she was gonna start going to the gym and eating healthy from Monday.” Then the lady replies, “Never said which Monday.” Another TikToker did a meme saying “Her and her best friend claim to be nice people but have nicknames only they know for everyone.” The response was “It’s just friendly names so we remember who we’re talking about.”

The “I’m working late cause I’m a singer” trend

Another viral song trend comes from Sabrina Carpenter after she released her latest hit “Espresso.” In this trend, you can see users lip-syncing to “I’m working late cause I’m a singer,” but on text they reveal what they’re actually working late for. For some it may be reading a book, binging a series, or building their dream life.

Gen-Z slang words and phrases you should know to pass the vibe check https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/most-trending-gen-z-slang-words-and-phrases/ Fri, 26 Apr 2024 08:30:18 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1883250

Ever felt confused by the words some of your Gen-Z co-workers or even your kids use? You’re not alone. If you want to keep up, stay woke with these trending Gen-Z slang words and phrases to pass the vibe check.

Language is constantly adapting and evolving. Our use of language reflects our ever-so-changing lives, culture, experiences, and the passing of time. Although there are numerous languages, one that evolves rapidly is slang. Despite each generation having its own unique slang, keeping up with new terms can be hard, especially when social media can make things go viral in seconds. So, if you’re lost, it’s time to take some Ws. Find our guide below.

[Hero & Feature Image Credit: Ketut Subiyanto/Pexels]

Most trending Gen-Z slang words and phrases if you want to keep up

W (n.)

The letter “W” refers to win or winning. A popular way to use this slang is to say, “common W,” which means that you agree with more than one thing someone has done. However, if you want to say the opposite, you can say, “That’s an L,” meaning loss, or “common L.”

It’s giving (n.)

The word “it” means someone or something, whereas “giving” suggests that someone or something embodies X vibes. If your friend asks what their outfit is giving and it’s not put together, you could say, “It’s giving clown.” So, whatever vibe the person or thing emits, you can say it’s giving ____.”

However, if you just use “it’s giving” alone, it can mean “I like it” or “You did well.” To use it negatively, respond, “It’s not giving” or “It’s not giving X.”

Purr (n.)

Coined by Rolling Ray, an LGBTQIA+ influencer, “purr” is one of social media’s hottest Gen-Z slang words. It started when Rolling Ray would purr when he felt good about himself or others. So, saying “purr” is a way to express approval or contentment of something.

You can use “purr” for most positive situations. For example, when your colleague closes a big deal, you can respond with “purr.”

Slay (v.)

We’re sure you’ve heard the term “slay” all over social and in real life. To “slay” is to do a spectacular job. It is simply to “kill it,” whether in fashion, confidence, or performance.

As an example, if your friend walked into dinner and his/her outfit was amazing, you can respond, “Slayyyyyy.” If your co-worker got a raise, you can also say “slay.”

Rizz (n.)

Want to know what the shorter version of charisma is? It’s “rizz.” To say someone has rizz means that they have got “game,” charming qualities, or is a smooth-talker, especially when flirting.

“Timmy tried to rizz up Amanda. It went bad,” or “Damn, that dude got this unspoken rizz. Something about him just exudes charm.”

On God (n.)

“On God” simply means telling the truth. Just like the phrase “I swear to God” or “I swear on my mum,” “On God” helps enforce that the person is telling the truth.

Josh: “Bro, that party was mad lit. Robin was running around chasing a chicken. Then the police came and raided the place.”
Kevin: “For real?”
Josh: “On God, bro.”

Bussin’ (adj.)

To say something is really good, use the Gen-Z slang word “bussin’.” This word can be used for hotels, or cars, but most use it for food.

If your friends ask, “Is it bussin’?” You can reply along the lines of “Yeah, the food be bussin’,” a.k.a. it’s delicious.

Situationship (n.)

One of the many popular dating trends in this day and age are situationships. A “situationship” is a romantic or sexual relationship that is unclear or undefined. Although there is no clarified commitment, there is emotional intimacy and lots of time spent together.

In layman terms, it is to chill yet be confused about what you guys are, even though there could be mutual emotions. Situationships are more than a “booty call,” but not quite a serious relationship.

“I didn’t date him. We just had a situationship.”

Adding “-ing” to words (v.)

Have you ever heard someone saying, “The math is mathing” and felt confused? Nowadays, the Gen-Z likes to add “ing” to words to say that something makes sense. This can be used with any noun to turn the word into a verb.

However, if something is not adding up or working, you can say, “The math is not mathing” or “the brain is not braining.”

Sending me (v.)

When someone or something makes you laugh so hard like you’re dying, try saying, “Sending me.” It could also be used for reactions like excitement, joy, or annoyance.

An example would be if your friend sends you a hilarious TikTok, and you can respond with, “This TikTok is sending me (skull emoji).”

Image Credit: Aideal Hwa / Unsplash

Bot (n.)

Another shortened word is bot aka robot. If someone calls you a “bot,” it means you’re weird since you’re acting like an NPC (non-player character).

For the plot (n.)

In 2024, we do it “for the plot” because when it comes to encouraging others to do fun, maybe slightly insane things, that’s what it’s all about. This phrase basically means for you to put yourself as the main character of your own story. So do some stuff you normally wouldn’t dojust to keep your life exciting. Whether it’s a good decision or a terrible one, everything is for a larger narrative, but at least you’re in control.

“Why did I pretend to be a security guard at Rolling Loud? It was all for the plot.”

Plague (n.)

Although we know the plague as a contagious bacterial disease, the Gen-Zers are now using this term to describe something troubling, annoying, or pestering that may be a nuance to society.

For instance, if you went on a night out with your friends, and did some bat crazy activities that made you black out, you can say, “Last night was a plague.”

Tretch (adj.)

Now this one is super easy. Tretch is a shortened version of the word “treacherous,” meaning not trusted or dangerous, so you should avoid it. An example could be if your friend introduced her new guy and you sense a weird vibe, you can say, “He lowkey tretch.”

Merch (v.)

If you think merch means ‘merchandise’ to Gen-Zers, think again. Today, “merch” is now similar to the slang “on God.” It is basically to swear that something is true on something whether they’re dead or important to you, so the recipient knows you’re not lying.

For example, if someone says, “I went backstage to see Kid Laroi. I merch that on your homie right now,” it means it’s they’re telling the truth, promising they did that.

Formula One considers Bangkok for Grand Prix https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/news-whats-on/formula-one-considers-bangkok-for-grand-prix/ Wed, 24 Apr 2024 18:00:43 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1919506 formula one thailand

This just in: Thailand is in talks with Formula One over a potential Grand Prix taking place in the hustling and bustling Bangkok. Racy, right?

Whilst we believe that driving the streets and sois of Bangkok should be regarded as a race event of its own, there is a possibility that the already-existing Grand Prix will be held in the metropolis, specifically on a street circuit.

Last month, in Paris, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and CEO of Formula One Group Stefano Domenicali discussed the possibility of Thailand hosting a street race. This comes as an attempt to boost the country’s reputation as a premier tourism hotspot.

The nation’s Prime Minister pitched the Land of Smiles as a prime destination to host both the Formula E Competition and MotoGp. And although nothing is set in stone, a post on X stated that F1 executives have visited Bangkok to inspect potential race routes.

With the recent increasing interest in the international racing team sport among Thai residents, we believe this classifies as exciting news for some.

Grammy-award winning singer Laufey is coming to Bangkok this August https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/events-whats-on/laufey-bangkok-summer-sonic-ticket-details-prices/ Mon, 22 Apr 2024 10:00:18 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1919151

Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter Laufey (that’s pronounced lay-vay, by the way), has witnessed considerable success as a breakthrough music act in the early 2020s for a distinctive body of work influenced by jazz rhythms. Now, she’s bringing her talents to Bangkok as she will be performing at Summer Sonic in August this year.

Beloved for her commercially successful hit single, From The Start, which saw her second studio output snagging the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February, Laufey had only recently concluded a whirlwind series of performances across Asia and Australia just last year.

Laufey brings her Bewitched: The Goddess Tour to Bangkok

That is set to change with Bewitched: The Goddess Tour, which is expected to begin in the latter half of 2024 from August onwards. Kicking off in Tokyo and Osaka immediately after, the 24-year-old will make her way down Southeast Asia with Bangkok, before subsequently crossing off Kuala Lumpur for the very first time as part of her second album’s release.

Laufey’s performance will be part of the inaugural Summer Sonic festival in Bangkok on 24-26 August 2024. However, ticket details remain unavailable as of writing. Keep an eye out on the event page as these are bound to drop soon.

The tour will also be hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Manila, with Singapore being the very last stop in Asia. Three dates have been allocated for Australia, starting in Melbourne, followed by Brisbane and Sydney closing things out in grand style at the city’s historic Opera House Concert Hall.

A modern jazz revival

Born to an Icelandic father and Chinese mother, Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir was raised in a musically inclined household, as indicated by her mother’s milieu as a classical violinist and her maternal grandfather’s reputation as one of the most esteemed violin educators at the Central Conservatory of Music in China. Her education in music started at the tender age of four with the piano, followed by the cello at eight.

Proving herself adept in the art, a 15-year-old Laufey would be invited to perform as a cello soloist under the guidance of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. This was followed by formal academic training at the Reykjavík College of Music, from which she graduated in 2018. In 2021, she was awarded a scholarship from the vaunted Berkelee College of Music.

Beyond the realm of orchestral music, Laufey’s recording career as an artist witnessed even greater success with her participation in the 2014 edition of Ísland Got Talent, an Icelandic offshoot of the popular Got Talent syndicated talent show franchise, as well as the 2015 edition of The Voice Iceland.

In 2020, her debut EP, Typical of Me, was warmly received by critics and the public alike, with the single Street by Street successfully charting a number one spot on Icelandic Radio. It even resonated with a number of her peers, with singers Billie Eilish and Willow Smith professing their fondness for Laufey’s work.

2023’s follow-up album, Bewitched, would go on to further cement her reputation as one of the genre’s most notable young talents to watch out for. Widely regarded for its inimitable ability to revive interest in a genre that had previously been on the downtrend, this most recent release received an official Grammy nod, in addition to a spot on major year-end album round-ups by Billboard, NME, and Vogue magazine last year.

Earth Day 2024: Environmental projects in Thailand https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/earth-day-2024-environmental-projects-in-thailand/ Mon, 22 Apr 2024 10:00:10 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1919206 earth day 2024

This year, we’re celebrating Earth Day 2024 by spotlighting the ongoing environmental projects and initiatives in Thailand.

Happy Earth Day, residents of the earth. A day that has been commemorated for 54 years as of 22 April 2024, the annual worldwide occurrence honours the planet’s environmental diversity while emphasising the importance of safeguarding it. Each year, Earth Day pivots on a specific theme and this year’s theme is “Planet vs. Plastics.” Who do you reckon is winning?

To honour Earth Day 2024, we’re spotlighting the ongoing environmental projects and green initiatives based in Thailand. While we may be doing our bit by recycling, upcycling, opting for locally-sourced products, and more, the minds and faces behind these initiatives are honouring the planet we call home on a much larger, more meaningful scale. Not all heroes wear capes, some plant trees and conserve wildlife.

The works of Daniel Arsham have been on display in big-name museums and galleries all over the world. Now, you can expect to see his artistry in all its glory in Bangkok this May.

NYC artist Daniel Arsham to hold first-ever exhibition in Bangkok this May

The New York City-based contemporary artist and his creations revolve a lot around fictional archeology. Daniel Ashram looks into contemporary objects and architecture and imagines a sort of future history where these objects are already fossilised. That way, he envisions what he thinks the future will look like, albeit not in a sort of sci-fi way we’re used to when seeing the word “futuristic,” but in a way that gets us to ponder about our future and our daily lives as we live until a new decade comes by. These notions also come into play as Daniel Arsham brings his works to Bangkok.

This isn’t the first time people of the city get to see his art, as pieces from his collection had been put on display as The Standard brand’s 20th anniversary last year. However, this will be the first exhibition of its kind. The largest of Arsham’s collection seen in Thailand so far, themed around the city of Bangkok, will be put on display as part of Central Embassy’s 10th anniversary celebration.

‘BANGKOK 3024’ shows what the artist thinks of our city as a thousand years pass, with eroded concrete and jagged edges. The Excavation Walls aim to evoke nostalgia even with objects found in the present. The Lunar Garden features sand paintings, raked into shapes by time. Five more signature pieces are planned for the exhibition at Level G and Level 1 of Central Embassy. Arsham also created one piece specifically for this exhibition, turning the whole passageway from the BTS to the department store into his signature eroded crystal textures.

Catch Daniel Arsham’s ‘BANGKOK 3024’ from 8 May till 14 July, 2024. You can find more information at Central Embassy.

Did you know that HIGHLIGHT was originally a six-member band, known as ‘Beast’? Two members, Jang Hyun-seung and Yong Jun-hyung, departed from the group in 2016 and 2019 respectively. They were finally named ‘HIGHLIGHT’ in 2017 after switching agencies. While they first debuted in 2009 with the extended play Beast Is the B2ST, it was their re-debut with the mini album, CAN YOU FEEL IT? in 2017 that garnered massive attention.

After their re-debut, the group again went on a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, only to make a triumphant return in 2021 with their third EP, The Blowing. The following year, the band released its fourth studio album, Daydream, which was accompanied by a three-day concert, INTRO, in Seoul. More recently, HIGHLIGHT dropped their fifth mini album, Switch On, in March 2024.

Apart from group activities, all members have also been actively pursuing their solo careers.

Bangkok has long been calling for ATARASHII GAKKO! to come visit, and they finally heard our cries. Book yourselves this June for their concert.

ATARASHII GAKKO! in Bangkok: tickets, date, and all the info

When it comes to J-pop girl groups, many think of teenagers in brightly-coloured clothes dancing with cute choreographed moves and big smiles throughout. They’re not wrong at all. The biggest girl groups that hit the mainstream both inside and outside of Japan have been presenting images fit for an idol group with their own spin — AKB48, Momoiro Clover Z, and even BABYMETAL to an extent.

ATARASHII GAKKO! sets out to do something different: to be a J-pop girl group that doesn’t conform with the cutesy norm of being an idol group. Members Mizyu, Rin, Suzuka, and Kanon, with their signature vintage school girl outfits, incorporated many musical genres into their songs, strived to be candid in their interviews, and showcased slapstick humour in their videos. As a result, we have fun and inventive songs with a cult following, possibly the only idol group in Japan with genres of J-pop and jazz on their page, and a story they revealed in an interview of how the members met at a supermarket discount aisle.

“In a time when only exemplar citizens are acknowledged, we strive to defy a narrow-minded society by embracing individuality and freedom,” they said in an interview.

Concert details

Now, ATARASHII GAKKO! is on their first-ever world tour, with a stop in Bangkok. Book your calendar for Sunday, 23 June, 2024. The “ATARASHII GAKKO! World Tour” is coming to Samyan Mitrtown Hall, 8.30pm, and gates open at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at THB 2,500, THB 3,200, and THB 8,500 being the VIP package. The package includes a standing ticket, pre-show meet and greet with photo opp, a laminated autograph, exclusive merchandise, and early entry into the performance hall.

The show is expected to be around two hours, and those under 12 years of age re not allowed to enter the standing area. Ticket sales are now ongoing at ThaiTicketMajor.

What are F1 drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Alexander Albon doing in Thailand? https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/news-whats-on/f1-drivers-nico-hulkenberg-and-alexander-albon-in-thailand-photos/ Wed, 03 Apr 2024 11:30:43 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917771

Formula 1 drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Alexander Albon have been spotted relaxing in Thailand before preparing for the race at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka. What did they get up to? Here’s a recap.

[Hero and featured image credit: hulkhulkenberg, alex_albon/Instagram]

What have F1 drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Alexander Albon been doing in Thailand?

First held in 1963, the Japanese Grand Prix is an event that racing fans keep an eye on every year. As one of the last races of the season, it’s seen as title-deciding for many, and described as one of the most challenging circuits in Formula One.

Drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Alexander Albon are up to compete in Suzaka next week, and both the German-born and Thai-British competitor have been seen to be relaxing in Thailand before the preparations begin.

As per Nico’s posted photos, he has been riding on a tuk-tuk around town, and going for a boat ride down the Chao Phraya river passing the iconic Wat Arun. The German F1 driver was also out shopping in Chatuchak market, and passed by Imdee fishball noodle in Sukhumvit 23.

As per Alex’s Instagram, he has also been having a grand time in Bangkok. He was seen on the bustling Yaowarat road, taking photos from the Ratchaprasong sky walk, playing golf with his peers, and chowing down boat noodles.

In the comments section, fans are excited for both of the drivers. Locals are saying “welcome,” and international fans are looking forward to how they’ll perform in the Japanese Grand Prix. Whatever happens, at least they seem to have had a good time in Thailand beforehand.

Have you spotted the “interceptor” catching waste on the Chao Phraya river? https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/news-whats-on/about-the-ocean-cleanup-interceptor-catching-waste-on-bangkok-river/ Tue, 02 Apr 2024 05:08:41 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917603 the ocean cleanup bangkok

Is this a sci-fi movie or is it just another day in Bangkok city? The Ocean Cleanup has launched an “interceptor” on the Chao Phraya river, aimed at removing plastic pollution from the water. Here’s a closer look at it.

Black flies exploded into the air as plastic waste fell from bamboo conveyor belts into skips on a solar-powered barge attempting to remove rubbish from the main river of Thailand’s capital Bangkok.

Have you spotted The Ocean Cleanup “interceptor” catching waste on the Chao Phraya river?

The Ocean Cleanup project launched on the Chao Phraya river, its so-called “interceptor” — a boat-like structure trailing a floating barrier — using the river current to funnel plastic into the barge’s waiting jaws.

The global non-profit, founded in 2013 by then-teenager Boyan Slat, aims to remove plastic pollution from the seas in part by preventing synthetic waste from ever reaching the oceans.

the ocean cleanup bangkok
Photography Amaury PAUL / AFP©

“The Chao Prayo is actually the largest, the single largest source, of plastic pollution for the Gulf of Thailand,” Slat told AFP.

“The Gulf of Thailand is, of course, very important ecologically, but also economically for tourism and fisheries,” he said.

“It’s very important to us to tackle this plastic pollution here.”

The Bangkok project, which has taken roughly two years to launch, is a research collaboration with businesses and local officials and Ocean Cleanup’s fifth “interceptor” project researching pollution prevention in Southeast Asia.

Working with Chulalongkorn University, Ocean Cleanup mapped the Chao Phraya’s currents to determine the best location for the interceptor — a difficult task given the river’s 500-metre (1,640-foot) width and its busy traffic lanes.

Positioned at the point where around 60 canals join the main river, ticking bamboo-slatted treadmills carry the collected waste into the barge, where it is deposited into bright blue skips and taken ashore to be disposed of by local authorities.

Penchom Saetang, from the environmental group EARTH Thailand, told AFP that while removing plastic from the river was important, getting chemical pollutants out of the water was also vital to restore the river.

“There are several causes (of chemical pollutants) and these include chemical use in the factories, as well as agricultural uses,” she said.

This story is published via AFP Relaxnews.

Body diversity has been an important issue that the globalised world has been discussing for several years now. After all, the beauty standard long set by society has been questioned, and many companies — including those in the media and fashion world — have embraced the idea of body positivity by opening up more doors to those who do not conform to the outdated norms.

As such, we’re jumping on that bandwagon, and an OnlyFans account will allow us to penetrate this market, along with exploiting our writers in more ways than we could imagine. Prepare for more content than you may be willing to see.

Let 1 April be the mark of a new era for Lifestyle Asia. Check out our OnlyFans sneak peek below, and give us comments on how we could improve on our moves and poses: https://bit.ly/lifestyle-asia-onlyfans

Songkran is celebrated throughout the kingdom, but there are hot spots where you can expect all the action to go down. Here are some Songkran 2024 events to check out this year in Bangkok.

Every year, Songkran is celebrated on 13-15 April to mark the beginning of the Thai New Year. Traditionally, water is used to symbolise purification; washing away our bad luck and sins, along with paying respects to our ancestors.

Now, it’s recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, celebrated by both local and international folks, and huge parties, and parades are held every year. Here are some Songkran events to look forward to in Bangkok this summer.

Love S2O but don’t want to celebrate in Thailand this year? Good news: S2O Hong Kong Songkran Music Festival will make a splash again in 2024 from June 8 to 9 at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.

The world’s (and Hong Kong’s) wettest party is back! After a spectacular debut last year, S20 Hong Kong Songkran Music Festival will make a splash again in 2024. So, mark your calendar for June 8 and June 9 as the event makes a comeback at the Central Harbourfront Event Space, coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend.

This year’s edition will have an expanded wet zone, an elevated 360-degree water-splashing experience, stage effects, and soundscapes. What a summer drenched in fun it’ll be! Early bird ticket sales will start on March 27 at 11 am. So, don’t miss the chance.

S20 Hong Kong Songkran Music Festival is back for another edition in 2024

The inaugural S20 Hong Kong Songkran Music Festival last year attracted over 23,500 participants. It took social media by storm and became one of the hottest events in the summer. So, it’s not surprising that the festival will make an explosive return against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour.

This year, the Hong Kong International Airport Authority will show its support by giving out air tickets to locals and tourists. More details about this offer will be announced later. As the event rides on the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, it is expected that visitors from around Southeast Asia and mainland China will be in attendance.

What to expect at Hong Kong’s biggest and wettest water festival?

To enhance the experience even more, there will be an augmented wet zone area with upgraded water, stage, and sound effects. The main stage will be in sync with a Hydro Reactor to create energy through water.

The event’s signature 360-degree splashing system will also get a facelift, rendering new patterns to synchronise with different beats and rhythms from international DJs. Participants can expect a full 360-degree submersion with over 200,000 litres of water per day.

Need a break from getting wet? The Summer Beats Zone is the place for some respite. This year, there will be rap shows and dance battles. Rappers and street dancers from around the world, as well as local talents, will showcase their skills in a friendly competition on stage.

In addition, the popular Glam Zone and Food Village will also return. In case you want to get a retouch after getting wet, the Glam Zone is the place to be. Make sure to visit the various food booths at the Food Village. More details of the food vendors will be announced soon.

March 2024 TikTok recap: The viral trends you need to know right now https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/march-2024-tiktok-recap-viral-trends-julia-roberts-g-eazy-ariana-grande-kylie-jenner/ Thu, 28 Mar 2024 11:00:10 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916956

Nowadays, if you want to remain relevant, it’s crucial to stay up to date, especially in the world of TikTok. Being one of social media’s fastest-growing platforms, TikTok has become a massive influence on many individuals. Whatever information you need, this platform most likely has a short video on it. And that’s why, every month, we provide our readers a little recap, so you can keep up with the latest trends of the month and stay in sync with your peers or keep up with all the Gen-Zers

March 2024 TikTok trends you need to know

The “Tempting, But No… Thank You” trend

https://www.tiktok.com/@ashley_reads_book/video/7334159643645725994

If you’ve watched Notting Hill before, then you’ll know that this is such an iconic line. In the movie, actress Julia Roberts plays Anna Scott, and in one of the scenes, she politely rejects a guy who offers his phone number by saying “Tempting, but no… thank you.” Although the trend originally popped up in February, other TikTokers have been creating their own version of when they would drop this legendary line.

The “You’re 19” trend

Those who have watched Judge Judy will know that this no-nonsense lady on primetime television is always blunt. This month, an audio from Season 2 episode 38, ‘Tough Love Dad,’ which aired last year, has been going viral on TikTok. During this scene, a daughter sues her father for property after he kicks her out. However, as Judge Judy sees the girl’s age, she asks, “You’re 19?” in which the adolescent replies “yes.” After hearing the responses, the judge responds “You look older. That’s not a compliment.”

@mywatchhistory

♬ original sound – mywatchhistory

TikTok users have been using this audio by posing a question, and responding “yes.” However, like the original sound, the response gets misinterpreted, and then it its commented that the statement was not a compliment.

The “All that work and what did it get me?” trend

@joshpeck

♬ BAILEYS SOUND – Me!

Another viral sound from a popular TV series is “All that work and what did it get me?” Although the song “Rose’s Turn” is from the musical Gypsy, the American show, Glee, has covered it in an episode called “Laryngitis.”During this scene, Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer, covers this song to express feelings of regret. Years later, he has come to find that the sound is now a trending meme all over TikTok, especially when the platform has issues with UMG copyrighted materials.

The resulting trend is quite simple. Creators can write about something they did that wasn’t worth their while, then lip sync to Glee’s version of “Rose’s Turn” while staring into the distance with a serious look of disappointment.

The “How many girls are you talking to tonight” trend

https://www.tiktok.com/@barstoolsports/video/7345516251881524511?_r=1&_t=8kziArymiwi

When you’re in your prime and are single, there’s no harm in chatting up some random strangers. This March, there’s been a new TikTok trend on the rise. In these videos, someone behind the camera asks their friends “How many girls/guys are you talking to tonight?” Then the person in front of the camera responds their number. The next scene is a clip of the reality of the night, whether they accomplished their quest or ended up alone.

Kylie Jenner’s dancing video

https://www.tiktok.com/@yris_palmer/video/7340519019725720874?_r=1&_t=8kziTouVvJ1

After Yris Palmer posted a video of her and Kylie in Khy and dancing to a remix of Don Omar’s “Dile,” numerous TikTokers have recreated Kylie’s little dance to the same sound.

The “We can’t be friends” trend

https://www.tiktok.com/@noturjared/photo/7344443995327679749

After Ariana Grande released her song “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” this track has been popping around all over social media, especially on TikTok. As various users use this sound to recreate Grande’s music video eye look, others choose to go down a different route by doing a photo slide, seemingly deleting their ex. In the trend, you can see users sharing a photo of them with their ex, but when the chorus comes on, their partner gets deleted out of the image.

The “Lady Killers” trend

https://www.tiktok.com/@jordanashhley/video/7347535556173155627?_r=1&_t=8kzjDaKmi9q

Despite this song being released years ago, the audio has resurfaced on TikTok, becoming one of this month’s viral trends. Here you can see users lip-syncing to the lyrics, “Make her disappear just like poof. Then she’s gone. Addicted don’t know what the f*** I’m on. I can’t stop it when I feel it coming on. When we chill it starts with smoking something strong…” What makes this video aesthetically pleasing is that they’re filming just before the sun sets at the beach. Moreover, it’s the turning on and off of the flash to the beat that makes this trend most alluring.

How to erase your ex online for the viral “We can’t be friends” TikTok trend https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/culture/how-to-we-cant-be-friends-tiktok-trend-erase-your-ex/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 13:00:12 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916944

We all know Miss Grande’s new song is sad, but the viral “we can’t be friends” TikTok trend takes melancholy to a whole new level.

Since Ariana Grande released “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” on 8 March 2024, the song has taken TikTok by storm. Whether it’s a makeup tutorial or heartfelt lip-syncing, the audio has been used on repeat. Recently, a viral trend has been going around, making the song even more depressing.

The “We can’t be friends” photo trend on TikTok has caused users to edit their exes out of photos to the lyrics, “We can’t be friends. But I’d like to just pretend. You cling to your papers and pens. Wait until you like me again. Wait for your love.”So, if you’re looking to hop on this emotional bandwagon, here’s how to do it.

How to do the viral “We can’t be friends” TikTok trend

https://www.tiktok.com/@luispequenoo/video/7345169463907585286?_r=1&_t=8kzaNpJoJiK

First, you will need to find some photos of you and your ex. Then download the Facetune app to use the vanish tool. It’s basically a magic wand that erases unwanted people from a picture, making it look like they were never there. Then you can add these photos onto any video-editing application, along with the audio for “we can’t be friends.” Remember the sequence of shots: start with the couple photo, then the edited one (sans ex), and repeat. There you have it: you’ve deleted your ex from your life (sort of).

World-renowned music festival Tomorrowland to come to Thailand in 2026 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/events-whats-on/tomorrowland-thailand-to-come-to-bangkok-this-2026/ Tue, 26 Mar 2024 04:30:45 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916920

While we’re getting ourselves ready for Summer Sonic Bangkok, which will take place on 24-25 August this year, there’s even more exciting news for all EDM heads. One of the most famous — and arguably, the best — music festivals in the world, Tomorrowland is set to take place in Thailand in 2026.

Tomorrowland is an annual EDM festival held in Antwerp, Belgium since 2005. Over the years, it has garnered considerable success and reputation and was voted as the Best Musical Event of the year for five years in a row at the International Dance Music Awards. Each year, Tomorrowland sells over 500,000 tickets, usually sold out within one day.

World-renowned music festival Tomorrowland to come to Thailand in 2026

Tomorrowland’s huge popularity has also encouraged several spin-offs. For instance, TomorrowWorld in the United States, Tomorrowland Brasil, and Tomorrowland Winter in France.

Now, who would have thought that it would be our turn, Thai people?

A government spokesperson has confirmed Tomorrowland will take place in Thailand in 2026, with the exact province and location to be announced later. The festival will probably stay on for ten consecutive years. This makes Thailand the first ASEAN country to welcome the global festival.

While on Tomorrowland’s side, there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet. According to Tomorrowland’s spokesperson Debby Wilmsen, “There is still much to be investigated.”

As Singapore saw huge economic gains following Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts exclusively in Singapore, it seems that maybe Thailand is looking to replicate similar success with a fresh host of music events.

In the Thai government’s effort to bring in many more cultural festivals to the Land of Smiles, the spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office has also hinted about discussions with the board members behind Formula One Group, Formula E, and Art Basel.

The original Tomorrowland in Belgium will take place between 19-29 July 2024.

If I was a rich girl, would I brush my teeth with literal gold? Yes, I would, because Aurezzi has a full collection just for that. The cherry on top? DJ Khaled has partnered with them.

Aurezzi allows you to brush your teeth with 24k gold, because reasons

Aurezzi presents itself as the world’s first luxury oral care brand. Its founder Noel Abdayem joined hands with consumer product experts Joakim Grip and Alexander Ruckemann to venture into a realm never traveled to before: the luxury sector within the oral care industry — to set a “gold standard” of taking care for their mouths.

As they wanted to make their products gain traction from the general public, they chose to partner up with music industry icon DJ Khaled, and it’s a match made in heaven.

“We the best, so we brush with the best. Aurezzi is much more than a luxury oral care brand, it’s a lifestyle that seeks to empower. It’s the oral gold standard,” says DJ Khaled. “With Aurezzi, your daily routine becomes an opportunity to boost confidence, well-being, and brush off anything that’s keeping you from succeeding. I resonate with that vision and am excited to take this company to the next level.”

  • Toothpaste infused with 24k gold or silver particles. Available in menthol or peppermint.

Prada Buckle medium leather handbag with belt

The moment I laid eyes on the Prada Buckle during their FW24 show, I knew that this item would be this year’s It-bag! Its sleek lines and refined details are the epitome of Prada’s signature aesthetic. This leather with a nappa interior perfectly encapsulates the brand’s iconic style in a design that’s both practical and sophisticated. Yet what truly sets the Prada Buckle apart is its interchangeable belt, which adds a contemporary twist to its multifaceted silhouette. And let’s talk about that lettering logo, glistening in 22-karat gold leaf – it’s honestly the epitome of modern luxury, effortlessly balancing simplicity with craftsmanship and functionality with pure elegance. Back in the 80s, Puma’s Palermo kicks used to reign supreme amongst the youth, a stylish tribute to the vibrant capital of Sicily. Goyard Anjou

Everywhere I look, I see people carrying mini-sized Goyard Anjou bags. While Goyard has long been synonymous with luxury, its resurgence has been nothing short of spectacular in the last two years, due to the quiet luxury trend. Before this model, everyone was obsessed with the oversized Saint Louis tote. However, right now it’s all about the Goyard Anjou. It’s easy to carry around and can be worn comfortably over the shoulder. This bag also fits quite a lot of things. Not to mention, it’s reversible, so the bag can be carried on both sides. – P.T., Senior Writer

“we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” by Ariana Grande

Since its drop at the start of the month, I’ve been obsessed with this track. Whether I’m driving my car, strolling down the street, to even when I’m barely awake in the morning, “we can’t be friends” has become my personal soundtrack that’s on a continuous loop. The lyrics, melody, visuals, the meaning, everything is just so relatable. It’s such a powerful song that captures so many emotions. T.C., Content Writer

CINDY CHAO The Art Jewel has come back to Thailand once again, organising a super exclusive collection viewing. But for the first time ever, the brand has brought the Black Label Masterpieces collection to showcase in Thailand. The piece that caught our eye the most was the Black Label Masterpiece II Pamir Brooch, a brooch in the shape of a tree with branches spreading all around. Inspired by the Pamir Mountains, this brooch perfectly encapsulates Eastern and Western cultures. It is decorated with 5,786 rare gemstones and the only person who has worn this glistening beauty on her chest is actress Michelle Yeoh. – P.T., Senior Writer

How to do the viral “All that work and what did it get me?” TikTok trend https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/how-to-all-that-work-and-what-did-it-get-me-tiktok-trend-glee/ Tue, 19 Mar 2024 15:00:07 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916303 all that work and what did it get me tiktok trend kurt glee

If you’ve been active on TikTok recently, you’ve probably noticed individuals lip-syncing “All that work and what did it get me?” But what is this viral trend all about? Let’s find out.

Launched by ByteDance in September 2016, TikTok initially emerged as a vibrant hub for showcasing creativity through dance routines, lip-syncing, and various other expressive avenues. Most of the time, music played a critical role in making these videos go viral. But alas, when the Universal Music Group pulled the plug on their tracks due to UMG copyrighted materials, TikTokers faced a creative crossroads. Thereby, users had to find a way to continue to create content, and one of those ways was by using the Glee version. This is how “All that work and what did it get me” was born.

How to do the viral “All that work and what did it get me?” TikTok trend

Where is the “All that work and what did it get me” sound from?

Although the song “Rose’s Turn” is from the musical Gypsy, the American musical TV show, Glee, covered it in season one, episode 18 of “Laryngitis.” In this episode, this song was used to express the feeling of regret by the character Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer. Now, years later, it has become a trending meme all over TikTok.

How to do the viral “All that work and what did it get me” TikTok trend

Hopping on the trend is quite simple. All you have to do is write the text for something you did that wasn’t worth your while. It’s better if it’s a short sentence, beginning with “When…”  Then lip sync to the sound of “Rose’s Turn” from Glee, and gaze into the distance with a serious look of disappointment. No props needed.

How do people celebrate Ramadan in Bangkok? https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/events-whats-on/how-do-people-celebrate-ramadan-in-bangkok/ Fri, 15 Mar 2024 17:32:41 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1915720 ramadan in bangkok

The month of Ramadan has begun, so we asked four Muslims in Bangkok how they celebrate during this holy month.

One of the Five Pillars of Islam is to fast during the month of Ramadan during daylight hours. According to the religion, this month is the period when the gates of Heaven remain open, and the gates of Hell are shut, as the Qur’an was sent down to the lowest heaven for the month. The fast ends at the end of the day with a festive meal and a prayer.

The last 10 days of Ramadan are considered the most significant days, signalling when the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Muslims fast during the day, while reciting prayers and tightening their self-discipline during the night.

Breaking fast

After spending the day fasting, Muslims break fast with a nightly feast called “iftar.” While it is traditionally done by a gathering of families and sharing a meal together, it is also now common to visit halal restaurants and getting a nightly feast there. After all, Bangkok is full of halal restaurants worthy of checking out.

Below, we asked five Muslims in Bangkok about their special rituals during the holy month of Ramadan in Bangkok.

How to observe Ramadan, according to Muslims in Bangkok

It’s not easy in Bangkok

In our religion, we fast throughout the holy month. Bangkok is harder because there are more entertainment venues and great food throughout the city, so I’d say there’s more temptation you need to resist before you can break fast. If you live in Pattaya, for example, you can sit on the beach and be surrounded by nature; wait till the sun sets.
But Bangkok has also become increasingly accommodating towards Muslims during Ramadan, as there are more halal restaurants opening up which encourages the practice, as well as give us more sense of community.
Last ten days are the most sacred. We perform the i’tikaf (seclusion) at the mosque, where we spend time reflecting and away from worldly affairs.

– Yakup Tangsongsirisak, Chef and Owner of Fat Lamb

It’s about good intentions

To me, Ramadan is more than celebration. It is the act of good intention, and how we will be spiritually embraced by Ramadan instead. As you may know, in Islam Ramadan is the holy month, the greatest month among all. Therefore, to me, Ramadan will be a chance to refresh my mind and soul through worship and self restriction.
Ramadan goes beyond fasting but it restrains people to limit their needs, eagerness, anger, and even lust. Since all demons (shaytan) will be chained, therefore, if you commit sins, it’s not even demon who lured you. By all means, this month is the greatest chance to pray more than five times a day, but also pray on Ramadan night (Taraweeh) which is limited to only this holy month, and, of course, reciting Al-Quran, and study those meanings. To not dive any deeper, the best way to start Ramadan is simple set your intention to do it better than last Ramadan, because you never know which Ramadan will be your ‘last’.
Spending Ramadan in Bangkok is not different from other cities across the world since we practice after the same prophet and obey under the same lord. Therefore, we wake up to eat Suhoor (early morning meal) and break fast during Iftar (nightly feast). Other practice like taraweeh pray and Al-Quran recitation are surely similarly preached.

– Nutsara Manutsanun Mudnuch, Marketing Coordinator

It’s about family and food comas

Normally it’s super simple: you’d go to the mosque and that’s where you’d do your prayers and break your fast as well. The alternative is what my cousins do, is they invite people to their house to break fast and share a meal. It’s a very wholesome type of situation. My cousins invite me every year to join them for a Ramadan dinner which tends to be a food-coma-level meal because of the variety of dishes, but also it tends to be heavy food.

– Imzo, Creative, Independence Bar

Everyone has their own approach

I’m Islamic, but my family and I aren’t very religious, so when my family doesn’t celebrate it, I don’t either. I don’t wear a hijab, nor adhere strictly to a halal diet. However, we do recognise and are very understanding of those who do.

– Anonymous, Independent Tutor

Making merit and eating dates

This month is the prime period to make merit. Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad once taught that the ones who fast for Allah for one day translates to them being far from the flames of Hell for seven years. It’s celebrated by big family gatherings at the dinner table after sundown, having feasts together and seeing each others’ faces.
Muslims generally eat date palms before going onto other dishes, as it was what the prophets ate after fasting. We also perform another prayer in addition to our five daily ones.

Elon Musk’s X cancels Don Lemon’s show after tense interview https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/news-whats-on/elon-musk-don-lemon-x-cancels-show/ Thu, 14 Mar 2024 09:00:43 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1915864

Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk sat for an interview for Don Lemon’s show—and then X announced it had been cancelled.

Most of the interwebs are in agreement that Elon Musk is, at the very least, problematic. His once-glossy reputation as the real-life Tony Stark has since waned significantly, now replaced with being the guy who goes on odd tirades against billionaire ex-wives and makes anti-Semitic remarks.

This would have meant nothing if he was just another rich dude who goes on social media to say a lot of sometimes weird, sometimes racist remarks (there’s another guy like that who might end up being president again). But Musk also owns X aka the Platform Formerly Known as Twitter, and he touts himself as a paragon of free speech.

After X recently cancelled Don Lemon’s yet-to-be aired show, that may not seem like the case anymore.

X cancels The Don Lemon Show after a tense interview with Elon Musk

Back in January, X tweeted that they had struck a new content partnership with former CNN anchor Don Lemon. The Don Lemon Show was going to have 30-minute episodes that dropped three times a week on the platform with Lemon exploring a range of topics. Apparently, for his first episode, Lemon decided to focus on the singular individual who’s become the face of X: Elon Musk.

Just today, X announced that it had cancelled the partnership. “We reserve the right to make decisions about our business partnerships, and after careful consideration, X decided not to enter into a commercial partnership with the show.”

No official reason was given as to why the partnership fell through.

“I don’t have to answer these questions”

Lemon’s interview with Musk was apparently quite tense. “Elon Musk is mad at me,” Lemon said in a video he posted on X. He also went on Instagram and explained that Musk cancelled the partnership only hours after their interview.

In an appearance on the former news channel he used to work on, Lemon gave a glimpse of the interview, which is still set to air on March 18 on YouTube, on podcast platforms, and ironically, on X. In the clip, Lemon asks if Musk feels any responsibility to moderate hate speech on X and mentions the anti-Semitic “Great Replacement Theory”.

“I don’t have to answer these questions,” Musk replies. “The only reason I’m in this interview is because you’re on the X platform and you asked for it. Otherwise, I would not be doing this interview.”

“I couldn’t care less”

It’s interesting and quite telling that it only took a few hours (at least, according to Lemon) before Musk cancelled the show. Ironically, the very tweet that announced the cancellation said, “X is a platform that champions free speech, and we’re proud to provide an open environment for diverse voices and perspectives.”

Musk went on X to give his reason as to why Lemon’s show was cancelled. He said it was because Lemon lacked “authenticity”.

In the very same clip, Lemon asks Musk about the criticism he gets regarding free speech.

“I’m criticised constantly,” replies Musk. “I couldn’t care less.”

Practice your drinking songs, for St. Patrick’s Day is on the horizon. Here’s where to be in Bangkok for a good craic.

Though an official Christian feast day, it is most known for its ties to the Irish culture. After all, St. Patrick’s Day marks the arrival of St. Patrick in Ireland and was historically celebrated by lifting alcohol restrictions. These days, people don’t slow down on the drinking tradition one bit, and St. Patrick’s Day is also known culturally as a day where people wear green, put up shamrock symbols, and celebrate Irish culture.

As our city is such a cosmopolitan place, we know just where to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Bangkok this 17 March 2024.

How to plan your Songkran holiday leaves this April 2024

Every year, Songkran is celebrated on 13-15 April to mark the beginning of the Thai New Year. Traditionally, water is used to symbolise purification; washing away our bad luck and sins, along with paying respects to our ancestors. Some people use the festival as a sign to start anew, making merit at temples and family gatherings.

These days, while you can still wake up early and make merit, many look forward to the huge water fights happening throughout the kingdom. And by huge, we mean huge. National holidays are announced, streets are closed for parties, and tourists fly in to participate. It’s an all-out water festival people plan their whole year around.

Those living in Thailand are normally entitled to national holidays during the Songkran period, with public holidays spanning 13-15 April. It is commonly known as the longest string of public holidays in a row.

In 2024, there’s also official confirmation that the cabinet has declared one more day (12 April) to be a special holiday. This means a five-day weekend — silent mode on your emails until you’re back and ready.

Planning leaves

Every year, office workers pay close attention to the announcement of the Songkran public holidays, as those who plan strategically, can get a long string of days off without having to take official leave.

Thereby, in order to get the most out of your Songkran holiday in April 2024, plan your leaves around 12-15 April. Using only three days of vacation leave on 17-19 April ensures a 10-day holiday. If you have more days available, 8 April is also a public holiday as substitution for Chakri Memorial Day. So, using 6 vacation leaves from 9 April onwards will get you a 16-day holiday. That’s more than half a month. Look forward to your co-worker making jokes about missing you when you get back.

Green ticks indicate potential dates for vacation leaves

Since it’s the festival of water, it is also worth looking at other provinces within Thailand for vacation. They celebrate Songkran day throughout the country, anyway. If you’re thinking of partying throughout the long holiday, “Wan Lai” is a Songkran celebration after actual Songkran, perfect for those who simply want to party more. Pattaya has a big annual Wan Lai Festival that doesn’t end until 19 April. Check the dates for every province carefully.
