After rumours of Celine Dion returning for a show, the star is now expected to perform during the opening ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympics — and with the one and only Lady Gaga, no less.
On 24 July, Celine Dion posted on X (formerly Twitter), announcing her arrival in Paris, as well as thanking her friends as she visited The Louvre. “I love Paris, and I’m so happy to be back!” She exclaimed.

Céline Dion and Lady Gaga expected to perform a duet at Paris 2024 Olympics
French President Emmanuel Macron was evidently elated during his appearance on television channel France 2, “Apparently she has arrived in Paris, it’s great! I would be immensely happy if she could be at this opening ceremony, like all our compatriots.” Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink.
He also went on to tease that there will be a surprise at the opening ceremony, according to plans that have come to fruition under the watchful eyes of Opening Ceremony Director Thomas Jolly and his team.
According to French media RTL, Céline has arrived in Paris with a private jet all the way from her home in Vegas, and is now staying at the opulent suite at the Royal Monceau on the Champs Elysee. Per French reporter Thierry Moreau, she will be dressed in Dior’s black and pink feather cape. It seems that not a single cent was spared in efforts to get the legendary singer ready for her big performance.
Céline Dion’s first performance since 2020
This will mark Céline’s first performance since 2020 in New York, as part of her ‘Courage World Tour’. The Canadian singer was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, making her step away from the spotlight due to muscle stiffness and spasms resulting from the condition. Her comeback during the 2024 Paris Olympics has been rumoured since her appearance on the cover of French Vogue earlier this year.
Lady Gaga floats on the River Seine in Paris
Lady Gaga has also been spotted with a piano, floating on the River Seine. Although appearing with tight security, word travels fast, just with one fan posting a photograph on the internet. Coincidentally, she was also spotted warmly greeting fans as she was walking out of the Royal Monceau, the same luxury hotel Céline Dion is staying at.
Gaga is also appearing as the lead protagonist in Joker: Folie à Deux, releasing worldwide this October 2024, and will see her 7th studio album coming soon as teased during her ‘Chromatica Ball’ tour.
During the opening ceremony, the two will be performing a French hit, Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose, now a worldwide jazz staple. The song has been labelled as French soft power rather than food and rude Parisians.
Fans all over the world are already anticipating the performance of these two icons, and we are especially happy to see Céline in good health and performing once more. It’s all coming back to us now.
