The movie runs for nearly three hours, and it honestly keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. In addition to her professional work, Tina is committed to sharing her expertise with other women and aspiring makeup artists, helping them elevate their makeup skills and services.

When we asked this talented woman how her passion for beauty sparked, Tina told us it began when she was very young. “I was often the last one chosen. However, when I went to high school, everything changed as I was admired for my looks. Then I realised how people see you is how people will treat you. Buttery skin

Similar to what we saw at the Maison Margiela show, where Pat McGrath gave the models a porcelain complexion, this year will be all about buttery skin. “We’ll see much more polished, smoothed, and radiant velvety skin. It’ll be a soft natural glow where the light will catch just where the contours of the face meet, creating a subtle and alluring effect that’s not too overpowering. To achieve this, you’ll need to prep the skin first because it’s very beneficial to creating any great makeup look. I usually start by cleansing the face so I can feel its condition. Afterwards, I tailor the application of skincare products through gentle massage based on the skin and my client’s environment.” 

Blush-flushed cheeks will stay 

To achieve the blush-flushed look, gently tap on the bridge of the nose and curve around the temples. Don’t forget to blend. This gives a natural flush, as if you’re going for a light jog. It’s very effortless.

The pursuit of the perfect natural lash continues

Since we’ve been seeing a lot of natural beauty moments in January, there will also be a surge of interest in ‘the perfect lash.’ This time, it’ll be more natural. “Forget the uncomfortable lash strips that are heavy on the eyes. We will see more individually placed lashes that lift and open up the orbital. 2024 is all about celebrating and enhancing your natural looks.” 

More refined, brushed, and polished eyebrows

As 2024 is all about celebrating and enhancing your natural looks, this year’s brows will be more refined, brushed, and polished. Expect full brows with more density. 

A black or brown bottom waterline for more allure

According to Tina, the last trend will be a brown or black colour in the bottom of the waterline. We’ve seen celebrities like Kendall Jenner try this trick, which helps elevate the eyes, giving them a “soft, smoky, and alluring look.”

Recently, Sofia Richie posted on TikTok her current favourite lip combo obsession, and it caused a lot of people to freak out. In her latest video, Sofia creates a ‘pumpkin spice’ lip combo she discovered on TikTok using Yves Saint Laurent products. The quiet luxury aesthetic influencer used the YSL Lip Combo in Candy Glaze shades 14 and 15 in the tutorial. She starts by gently patting in these two nourishing balms, but what shocked us all was her “cherry on top”— the concealer. Surprisingly, it worked. Adding that dab of concealer right in the middle makes the lip look more voluptuous. It also gives the entire look an absolutely stunning, luscious, ombre effect.

This look is without doubt the most chic, gothic-inspired manicure that’s gone viral in this pre-Halloween period. Contrary to what you might think, it’s not about gluing on vampire tooth designs, or even painting Dracula onto your manicured nails, but about playing with colours and light/dark effects. Red and black are the two dominant hues of this manicure, which has racked up almost 13 million views on TikTok to date, and is based on either ombré nails (vertical colour shading) or aura nails (shading starting from the centre of the nail).

As the videos show, this manicure can be crafted in two ways: using a special sponge on which the two polishes are applied before being transferred to the nail, or using a classic red polish with black eyeshadow around the edges of the nail. All in all, it’s a manicure that’s easy to recreate at home, and one that’s sure to impress on October 31.

Expressing excitement about their latest collaboration, Georgio Armani personally added, “Hanni is a very young artist with great expressive power and an irresistible and captivating individuality.” He also spoke about the singer’s impressive personality.

The brand has already shared a glimpse of her debut campaign, where the gorgeous Hanni flaunts the brand’s exclusive products. Laminated or sweaty skin is becoming a major beauty trend, if the Spring-Summer 2023 fashion shows are any indication. Here’s how.

Sweaty skin — with the inevitable drop that runs down your face, like after a workout — hardly sounds like the stuff of dreams. But this glistening, dewy look, is shaping up to be the makeup trend of the moment, spotlighted on the catwalks of the Spring-Summer 2023 fashion shows, and already going down a storm on social media. In short, it takes the natural glow to the next level.

From matte to sweaty skin

After decades spent finding all the possible and imaginable tricks to maintain a matte complexion, and fight against all forms of shine, get ready to give it all up for “laminated skin,” the makeup trend to adopt by next summer. This inspiration we owe to Terry Barber, director of makeup artistry at MAC Cosmetics, and the look was notably spotted on the London catwalks, before shining on social media. The idea? To embrace the natural glow to the point of reproducing a slightly sweaty-looking effect, as if the skin were dewy… or just plain damp. We kid you not.

Goodbye jello and glass skin, hello laminated skin

So, after “jello skin” and “glass skin,” make way for “laminated skin.” Unlike most of the latest makeup trends, this new inspiration does not hail from social network users, but from a world-renowned makeup artist, Terry Barber. It emulates skin with a naturally sweaty glow, like after a workout, or perhaps more glamorously, after sex. In other words, sweaty skin is the latest make-up trend.

“The skin for the season is sweaty, which is no longer a negative,” Terry Barber told Refinery29. He continues: “All the designers I’m working with are talking about sweaty skin, like you’ve just come out of the ocean on holiday, or been on a dance floor — or you’ve just had sex.” The whole thing involves playing with textures that give the impression of extremely moisturized skin. Gone are the multiple layers of makeup, and especially setting powders, in favor of an (almost) natural glow that doesn’t require much in the way of products.

In fact, this new look involves just two products. First, you’ll need a sheer, buildable foundation that does not give a caked-on finish — in keeping with current trends. Then, above all, you’ll need a fixing mist that brings the desired radiance while offering continuous hydration to the skin. The professional may add a natural eyeshadow and some light contouring, but the “laminated skin” effect relies above all on these two products. It remains to be seen if your skin is made to embrace this new trend, which will bring shine to the forehead and nose, two areas where many once did everything to hide it.

In a slightly different style, in the run-up to Halloween, “vampire skin” is also proving popular on social networks. This makeup trend aims to emulate the skin of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, but in a more glittery version that’s way more glamorous than the pallid complexion usually associated with vampires.

After taking a backseat for two years due to the pandemic, makeup is making a comeback to beauty routines this fall. This is reflected by the many trends that are proliferating on social networks, particularly TikTok. Here, pearly ‘donut glaze’ nails, siren eyes and smudge-proof lipstick are among the major inspirations of the season.

While the Covid-19 pandemic may not yet be behind us, life seems to be getting back to normal this fall, bringing with it some of the habits that were shelved during the past two years. In the bathroom, this means a return to makeup essentials neglected in recent months due to the mandatory wearing of face masks and successive lockdowns. Now, however, people — especially social network users — seem keen to make up for lost time with fun and eccentric beauty inspirations.

‘Glazed donut’ is fall’s tastiest nail trend

Glazed donut nail art is one of the biggest makeup trends of the fall, with no less than 80 million views on TikTok. Popularized by Hailey Bieber during the summer, this look — which is expected to last through fall — involves lacquering nails in a way that resembles the glaze of a donut. It’s a trend that puts eccentricity back on the agenda, and one that’s incidentally boosting demand for pearlescent nail polish. According to the global fashion search engine Stylight*, searches for this type of nail polish have jumped 203% in just one year.

But that’s not the only trend that has emerged in recent weeks to become a staple of the back-to-school season. ‘Siren eyes’ — a trick that enlarges the eyes and gives them an almond shape using eyeliner and brown eyeshadow — is also proving a hit on TikTok, with nearly 600 million views for the associated hashtag. Stylight reports a 99% increase in search interest for the keyword “siren eye” on Google, but also a substantial 232% increase in clicks for brown eyeshadow on its international platforms.

The slugging trend takes off

But if there is one beauty trend that continues to appeal around the world, then that’s slugging. Inspired by the slimy appearance of slugs and snails, this new beauty routine involves covering the face with a thick layer of petroleum jelly before going to bed to boost hydration and enjoy plump, radiant skin in the morning. Although critisized by some, this method is already scoring hundreds of millions of views on social networks, and is now spurring spin-off techniques like nail slugging and hair slugging.

Lipstick is back

Lipstick — previously cast aside due to face masks — is also making a comeback this fall, but not in any form. It’s anti-smudge liquid lipstick, delivering long-lasting wear and no transfer, that has been all the rage for several weeks, with a significant 300% increase in clicks for this category on Stylight. If one thing’s for sure, it’s that people seem ready to add a little colour — and fun — to their lives this season.

’90s and Y2K lovers, blue eyeshadow has resurfaced and is now back in style and in trend. In this article, we’ll show you how to master that distinctive, cool-toned look.

The last time blue eyeshadow dominated the makeup world, I was a pre-teen. This was in the early 2000s, when everyone, from superstars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to the most popular girl in the year above, slathered their lids with frosted baby blue shades. Pining to be as well-liked as the ~queen bee~ at school, I followed suit. And well, the result was not pretty.

To this day, I still have that one photo of myself, barely 10 years old, wearing shimmery blue eyeshadow from Biotherm and an unbranded black, pencil liner from Sasa on my lower waterlines. Cringe. I’ll spare you the visual, but I didn’t wear it well. You can’t blame me, though — blue lids are not easy to pull off, and pre-teen me definitely did not have the adequate makeup skills to tackle the look properly.

A deeper dive into blue shadow shows one thing — the cool-toned shade makes a grand return every 20 years or so. It was first popular during the 1960s, in the form of creamy pastels, then in the 1980s, when colourful lids reigned supreme. Now, two decades after Y2K, blue eyeshadow is back, and it’s here to stay… at least for the summer.

Don’t just take my word for it. Browse through the internet and you’ll be hit with A-listers rocking the cool, frosty look. J.Lo, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian — they’re all doing it. I’ve already made it my goal to try the look at least once this season, now that I’m in my 20s and have (in my own humble opinion) mastered the art of makeup. Only TikTok users could have come up with a trend for “transparent” makeup. After all, what could be more natural-looking than that? After emerging around a month ago, the phenomenon has become so big that the #transparenteyeliner hashtag now counts no less than 1.7 million views. And if the origin of the trend is attributed to TikTok user and eye makeup specialist May Akhtar, there are now plenty of videos on the subject on the social network, reflecting the scale of the craze for this original technique.

The idea is essentially to hack the original eyeliner technique by drawing a virtually transparent line in the shape of your choice. But here, instead of drawing a line, or a flick or wing, with a black or coloured liner, the idea is to use a neutral shade, as light as possible, in the place of traditionally more visible colours.

Specifically, May Akhtar uses a light shade of concealer to draw on winged eyeliner effect. Unlike what you’re probably used to doing, here, you don’t fill in the “wing,” but just create an outline, then blend the product outwards to highlight the shape. And that’s it. In a very subtle — but not so transparent — way, eyes appear enlarged and enhanced without looking too made-up. A ‘natural’ technique that’s perfectly fitting for the summer season. Our July digital cover star — queen of effortless cool, Note Panayanggool — gives us a breakdown of her daily routine.

They say if you want to change the world, start by making your bed every morning. 

Maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. Either way, here’s what we do know — how you start your day matters. Regardless of whether it’s exercise, meditation, or just unsweetened black coffee, having some form of a daily routine can go a long way. This is where Self Care Sunday comes in — a column where we sit down with some of the city’s most influential lifestyle gurus, to talk about how they like to kick start their day. 

This month, as we celebrate the launch of our July digital cover, we had a quick chat with the charismatic artist, musician, and environmental conservationist Note Panayanggool, to get the lowdown on her daily routine. From her daily meditations to her love for green tea, we run through a day with the multi-talented creative influencer.

Start your day off right

For someone who prefers to “go with the flow” than stick to a routine, Note tells us that one of the few things she’s maintained on a daily basis is her morning meditations. “I like meditating first thing when I wake up. I think that’s the best time to set your intentions for the day ahead.” 

While meditation apps and guided journeys are all the rage right now, Note believes they aren’t necessary to achieve the spiritual well-being she seeks. “When I meditate, I don’t need it to last an hour or anything like that,” she explains, “If I feel at peace within the first one to two minutes, then that’s already enough for me.” To her, consistency is key. “If you’re planning to do something every day, it doesn’t have to last super long, as long as you know you can sustain it. For me, finding that feeling of lightness and feeling it continuously for a minute or two, I think that’s more than enough.” 

Take the time to breathe

Instead of hurrying up and jumping straight into whatever is on the schedule, Note advises taking a moment to “breathe, and feel the good energy in your body.” When stressed, she shares that breathwork and visualisation can really help do the trick. “Picture a white healing light,” she explains, “that really helps for me, meditating and visualising, along with breathing. Long, deep inhalations and exhalations can really help get you relaxed in any situation.” 

On days when she’s feeling exceptionally anxious, Note would look up Wim Hof’s breathing exercises on YouTube. “They really help ground me,” she tells us, adding jokingly that she hasn’t quite mastered the ice baths just yet. Same here, Note, we’re still working on those too. 

A quick shower & red lippy are all you really need

For someone with such flawless skin, it came as a pretty big surprise to find out that Note’s morning routine — skincare and beauty-wise — is pretty much a one-step ritual. 

“I’m super fast with showering, getting ready, and all that stuff,” she tells us with a laugh. “In the morning I just wash my face with water, and that’s it. My makeup routine is also really quick. Just one lipstick and I’m ready to go.”

Health is wealth (and so are rest-days)

When it comes to exercise, Note admits to having a somewhat sporadic fitness schedule, though she does try to keep it consistent and stay healthy. “The perfect routine would be exercising three days a week, but sometimes I can’t do that, so once a week is already pretty good for me during my lazy phases,” she jokes. “When I’m in a really active phase, that goes up to three to four times a week, though.”

Don’t rush the wind-down

Though she likes keeping her morning routine fuss-free, Note makes sure to set aside time to unwind before bed. “I’ve trained my body to be sleepy when I read, so I can’t fall asleep without reading anymore,” she says with a laugh. 

As for skincare, Note confesses to spending more time on this than on her makeup. “I would put on three layers of cream before bed every night. Instead of focusing on how to cover my acne, or scars on my face, I prefer to focus on how to heal them.”

This year’s YouTube Beauty Festival will take place in Los Angeles. The event will take place on June 16th at 4 p.m. PST i.e. June 17th at 4:30 a.m. IST. This is the second year of this yearly event. And it appears like this is one celebration not to be missed!

So, what exactly is going to happen? Fans will be able to view tutorials, product reviews, and celebrity “get ready with me” videos. Hailey Bieber, who announced that her skincare line, “Rhode,”will be doing a “self-care” segment. Tracee Ellis Ross will film a “getting ready” video in the shower to promote her Pattern Beauty haircare products. The event will be streamed live on YouTube’s Beauty Festival official page.
