Pilates is so last year. A blend between tennis, squash, and badminton, padel is undeniably the hottest sport of the season. Luckily, this city is home to several padel clubs. Here’s where you can get in on the fun and play padel in Bangkok.
Those who already play padel can attest to the fact that it is a highly social sport, which is why it is no wonder that it is gaining popularity across Thailand. As the weather gets cooler and sweating outdoors doesn’t feel like fresh hot hell, padel makes for a fine choice to get into during the winter season.
What is the difference between padel and tennis?
This is the most commonly-asked question surrounding the sport, and it is understandable. Given the gear and the courts, padel and tennis may seem very similar to the untrained eye. Nonetheless there are a few key differences:
- Padel is played in doubles, and requires a stringless racket with holes in it
- Padel balls have a lot less pressure than tennis balls, so they are less bouncy
- Padel courts are normally surrounded by walls, and are smaller than tennis courts
- Padel is a lot faster, as it is centred on quick reflexes
Ready to get padel-ing? Here’s where to play padel in Bangkok, no matter your level. Most courts even offer racket and equipment rentals to get you started.
