Is it really goodbye mascara and hello bare lashes? Let’s check out this latest makeup trend as #fullfacenomascara is a bold beauty statement set to redefine 2025.
Just last week, I was lounging around, mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, and a post from @databutmakeitfashion popped up. According to their analysis of over 300K online posts and engagement metrics within just a week, mascara’s popularity had dropped by 47%. Reading that, I was immediately in shock because for as long as I can remember, mascara has always been the go-to beauty essential for many. With just a few swipes, naked eyes turn into long, fluttery lashes making you look instantly awake and defined.

But here we are, the beauty world is flipping the script with a new trend on the rise— no-mascara makeup. We’re kind of here for it. This look has been all over the red carpets, runways, and social media. Even influencer Alix Earle gave her stamp of approval in a TikTok titled, ‘Whoever said your makeup looks better without mascara was kind of right.’ The no-mascara look is minimal, natural, and refreshing, especially when you don’t have to scrub your eyes off after a long day.
@alixearle Heavy on the skin prep before the makeup as well
Sure, the no-mascara look isn’t new, but 2025 feels like it’s going to be the year it really takes over. We saw this trend at The Met Gala 2024 when Riley Keough rocked bare lashes, as well as on The Row’s recent Spring-Summer runway, where it was all about glowing skin and naked lashes. If you truly think about it, the trend is bold, because how many times have we heard someone say, “I can’t leave the house without mascara”?

Tips to rock no-mascara makeup
Now dropping the mascara doesn’t mean your eyes are completely naked. You can use eyeliner or eyeshadow to accentuate the eye area. However, our favourite way to do the #fullfacenomascara look is to focus on the skin for a flawless look. Here are some tips.

Prep your skin
Skin prepping with your favourite products is the secret to achieving that flawless, glowing look. Our go-to everyday skincare routine includes SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, SK-II Genoptics Ultraura Essence, and SK-II Atmosphere Airy Light UV Cream. After applying your skincare essentials, don’t forget to let it sink in and work its magic for around 10 minutes, before applying your makeup.
Curl your lashes
Just because you’re not using mascara doesn’t mean you should neglect your lashes.
Brush up your brows
Brush up your brows to make it look fuller and more defined, yet still maintaining that natural appearance.

Try a coloured eyeliner
Lately, we’ve been spotting people rocking bold eyeliner looks using dark blue, silver, and white hues paired with bare lashes. It’s a total vibe. It’s edgy, minimal, futuristic, and a super fun way to add a pop of colour.
Play with some eyeshadow
If eyeliner isn’t your thing, eyeshadow is just as amazing for making your eyes pop. We’re obsessed with soft, earthy tones like a rich dark brown or a warm copper. These shades give the eyes instant definition without feeling overdone.
Wear a bold lip
Whether it’s a matte red lip or a juicy gloss, a bold lip is the perfect way to finish off this no-mascara look that will make you stand out.
