While the Speedmaster collection is widely renowned, this Swiss luxury watchmaker has revamped one of its oldest collections, the Constellation to introduce the stunning OMEGA Constellation Meteorite— the epitome of watches, proving that timeless elegance never goes out of style.

Although the Speedmaster is often the first OMEGA timepiece that comes to mind for enthusiasts, one of this Swiss manufacturer’s eldest flagship watches was the OMEGA Constellation. Since 1952, the Constellation collection has been inspired by the precise movement of the stars. This line was revered for its exquisite design and unparalleled accuracy, making it the quintessential choice for those seeking the ultimate Omega timepiece. However, this year, the brand takes the stellar theme a bit further by creating new models with a meteorite dial— the Constellation Meteriorite.

Discover the celestial beauty of the OMEGA Constellation Meteorite collection

Introducing the latest OMEGA Constellation Meteorite collection, featuring dials made from slices of the Muonionalusta meteorite, believed to be the oldest meteorite on Earth with an age of over 4.5 billion years. OMEGA has used this rare space material in its 20 new models with each dial containing a unique Widmanstätten pattern. This pattern is described as a series of ribbon-like triangles and striations, which overlap faintly, and since it is a natural design, every slice of meteorite used in the watch is a one-of-a-kind piece.

The Widmanstätten pattern

This latest series boasts an extensive selection of vibrant dials. Thanks to OMEGA using their most advanced colour treatment technologies, now the dials go beyond the traditional shades of grey. Whether you prefer blue, green, yellow, rose gold, purple, or white, there is a dial colour to suit your style.

The OMEGA Constellation Meteorite collection offers a wide range of choices, with four different sizes and five unique options in each. The two largest watches are equipped with OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer, and each has a distinct look. The 41mm model is made of stainless steel with a black ceramic bezel, and its meteorite dial has a rhodium-grey galvanic hue. Meanwhile, the second largest watch in the collection, the 29mm, is crafted from stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, with a diamond-set bezel and indices that give it a captivating radiance.

The two smallest models, 28mm and 25mm, are powered by quartz movements and feature the same diamond embellishment and case material as the 29mm. However, the caseback of these two watches features the Constellation medallion.

What truly sets this collection apart, however, is the beautiful texture of the meteorite used in the dials. It’s a unique and exquisite feature that makes wearing one of these watches an incredible experience. After all, it’s not every day that you get to wear something made from a material not found on Earth.

While Chanel graced the horological world with the J12 Diamond Tourbillon watch back in 2022, this year marks the unveiling of a fresh interpretation. Showcasing a striking combination of matte black ceramic and white ceramic, what truly sets this watch apart is its exceptional movement—the Caliber 5. Introduced in 2022, this movement proves that Chanel has elevated its horological prowess to new heights since it is the Maison’s first in-house Flying Tourbillon movement.

Crafted from high-strength ceramic, this timepiece epitomises longevity and resilience, poised to navigate the passage of time with unwavering grace and durability. The case back proudly bears the brand’s distinctive lion’s head emblem. At the heart of the watch lies a captivating solitaire diamond set within the centre of the flying tourbillon cage, meticulously cut to enhance its brilliance. As it elegantly rotates with each passing second, the diamond casts a spellbinding allure that mesmerises all.

Pink Editions

Another of Chanel’s latest creations in haute horlogerie is the unveiling of two pink variations of the iconic BOY∙FRIEND watch. The first of these masterpieces is the limited edition X-RAY version, a horological marvel limited to just 55 pieces. Boasting a mesmerising sapphire crystal case back, this timepiece exudes a sense of transparency and modernity. Complementing its design is a luxurious pink quilted pattern calfskin strap with elegant gold lining.

In a harmonious fusion of artistry and luxury, the second limited edition model showcases a captivating skeleton design encased in 18k beige gold. Adorned with 38 exquisite baguette-cut pink sapphires totalling 1.95 carats, the bezel and case of this watch exude a radiant aura, making it a true statement of opulence and style.

Besides the BOY∙FRIEND model, the brand has also created a pink edition of the J12 X-RAY. Seamlessly blending innovation and luxury, the machine, equipped with the Caliber 3.1, features sapphire components that create a captivating illusion of floating wheels. The 18k beige gold bezel, embellished with 46 baguette-cut pink sapphires, radiates timeless elegance and magical charm.

OMEGA unveils new Speedmaster Chronoscope watches in the colours of the Paris Olympics 2024 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/omega-unveils-new-speedmaster-chronoscope-watches-in-the-colours-of-the-paris-olympics-2024/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 08:00:34 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1918857

Since 1932, OMEGA has served as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games. This year, the Swiss watchmaker puts accuracy and precision at the forefront once again with the two new Speedmaster Chronoscope watches available in the colours of the Paris Olympics 2024.

For over 90 years, OMEGA has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, and its partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recently been extended until 2032. While OMEGA’s primary role in this legendary event is to provide precise timing for various sports and disciplines, they also play a crucial part in the development and innovation of the essential equipment that modern-day athletes rely on.

As the Olympics’ official timekeeper, OMEGA has always taken advantage of the biennial event to release new models related to this special occasion. This year, the brand has unveiled two new models, a modified version of the original Chronoscope, available in four 43mm models that pay homage to the game.

OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope 43mm in Moonshine Gold on Moonshine Gold

OMEGA unveils new Speedmaster Chronoscope watches in the colours of the Paris Olympics 2024

The latest series of watches comes in a sleek 43mm, inspired by the Olympic Games Paris 2024 colourways: gold, black, and white. With four variations, two in Moonshine gold and two in steel, we agree that the gold version is a sight to behold. For those interested in the gold edition, there’s an option for either the full gold bracelet or a black leather strap with a matching gold buckle. The steel model, on the other hand, is available with either a standard stainless bracelet or a black perforated calfskin leather strap. Notably, the strap for the steel version features a white rubber interior, a subtle detail that adds a touch of elegance, complementing the silver dial perfectly.

Now, one of the standout features of each watch is undoubtedly the breathtaking silvery white opaline dial, which serves as a canvas for a multitude of intricate details. Encased within the dial are the tachymeter scale, pulsometer scale, and telemeter scale, offering a comprehensive array of measurements right at your fingertips. This design element pays homage to OMEGA’s commitment to precise timekeeping at the Olympic Games. Delving deeper, one can’t help but admire the blackened subdials, complemented by Arabic numerals and hands coated in luxurious 18K Moonshine Gold.

Turning the watch over reveals another nod to this prestigious event on the case back. Here, a meticulously stamped medallion proudly displays the mirror-polished Paris 2024 logo alongside the iconic Olympic Rings. To truly honour the spirit of the games, impeccable accuracy is paramount. That’s why OMEGA has outfitted the Speedmaster Chronoscope with the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908/9909, a movement certified by METAS to the highest standards of precision, performance, and magnetic resistance in the Swiss watchmaking industry.

Inside BTS Member Jimin’s Watch Collection: Chanel Boy-Friend, Cartier Tank Américaine And More https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/jimin-watches-patek-philippe-audemars-piguet-cartier/ Thu, 04 Apr 2024 01:00:34 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917053

From Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet to Chanel and Cartier, we take a closer look at BTS member Jimin’s watches and why you,  too, should have them.

This holds for almost every pop star. From Elton John’s embellished watch collection to Taylor Swift’s luxurious bag collection, their opulent lifestyles draw much curiosity. And fans cannot help but marvel at all of their luxury possessions.

For the past few years, BTS has been ruling the global pop landscape. All their members — RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jungkook — are icons in their own right. With such widespread popularity, it comes as little surprise to learn that BTS is the richest K-pop band in the world.

Whenever we talk about the boy band’s wealth, we cannot help but drool over their unrivalled fashion sense and all the elegant accessories they own — sneakers, jackets, and most importantly… watches.

Interestingly, it is the septet’s ensemble of wrist candies that ARMY (BTS’ official fanbase) is most interested in. According to reports, the estimated worth of BTS’ watch collection as a whole is a massive USD 1 million.

Much akin to the rest of his band members, Park Ji-min — popularly known as Jimin — has a penchant for exquisite timepieces. As such, let us take a look at Jimin’s collection of luxury watches and their price tags.

A look at Jimin’s lavish watch collection

Patek Philippe Complications 5905P

Price: USD 75,500

Let us jump into Jimin’s watch collection with the Patek Philippe Complications 5905P. The Korean vocalist and dancer has been spotted wearing this timepiece in his VLive sessions.

A timeless classic, this Patek Philippe model comes with a 42-millimetre ebony grey-black sunburst dial protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal on top. The gold-applied hour markers and numerals offer a striking contrast to the grey-black dial.

Crafted in platinum, the watch sports a matte black alligator strap with square scales and a prong buckle. The piece is water resistant up to 30 metres. It is powered by Patek Philippe’s in-house self-winding mechanical movement calibre CH 28-520 QA 24H.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold

Price: USD 66,000

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak lineup offers a vast multitude of shapes, sizes and colours. However, the one in Jimin’s watch collection sports a 41-millimetre dial with rectangular markers. The smoked blue “Grande Tapisserie” dial is protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal on top.

The Royal Oak watches come with signature octagonal bezels, and this one is no different. This timepiece is made of 18 carats of white gold. Under the hood, the watch houses a powerful calibre 4302, a self-winding automatic movement. Each winding of the watch offers a power reserve of up to 70 hours. The entire mechanical movement is made up of 257 parts.

In terms of durability, the watch is water resistant up to 50 metres. It is an exquisite timepiece that suits the Korean pop star’s personality perfectly.

Patek Philippe Complications 5205G-13

Jimin watches

Price: USD 57,620

Pretty similar to the Patek Philippe timepiece we talked about earlier, the Complications 5205G-13 comes with a few distinguishing markers. The most significant of them is its colour scheme — instead of a traditional grey-black hue, this variant sports a more adventurous blue sunburst on the dial.

Speaking of the dial, it has a slightly smaller 40-millimetre diameter as compared to the 42-millimetre one on the Complications 5905P. In addition to the traditional day, date and month windows, there is a subdial which indicates moon phases. The hour markers and numerals are gold-applied, giving the watch a classy look. And, like most Patek Philippe watches, the dial is protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal.

The timepiece, made of 18-carat white gold, comes with a shiny black alligator strap with square scales and a prong buckle. It is water resistant up to 30 metres. Under the hood, it sports the in-house self-winding mechanical movement calibre 324 S QA LU 24H/206. This timepiece is a perfect fit for Jimin, thus finding its place on the list of the most exquisite watches in his collection.

Patek Philippe Nautilus

Jimin watches

Price: USD 56,330

A watch with great historic significance, Jimin was seen sporting a Patek Philippe Nautilus model in a photoshoot alongside fellow K-pop artist Jessi. The Patek Philippe Nautilus line, much like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak series, was a product of the Quartz Crisis in 1969 with the introduction of the quartz movement by Seiko‘s Astron.

Designed by Swiss clockmaker and artist Gérald Genta, the Patek Philippe Nautilus lineup is known for offering great durability underwater. The model owned by Jimin is made of industrial-grade stainless steel with a case diameter of 40.5 millimetres.

The blue dial comes with gold-applied hour markers and bears a luminescent coating for better visibility underwater. This timepiece is water-resistant to 120 metres. It is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement calibre 324 S QA LU 24H/303 comprised of 347 parts and enclosed by a sapphire crystal case back.

Chanel Boy-friend

Jimin watches

Price: USD 10,850

Talk about a minimalist yet royal watch, and not many can compete with the Chanel Boy-friend in Jimin’s collection. This timepiece is sleek, elegant and a perfect fit for the BTS vocalist in any outing.

The case is crafted from steel, and the bezel is fitted with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds. The black guilloché dial features a date indicator, and the timepiece features a steel crown with a black spinel cabochon.

Unlike most luxury watches, this Chanel timepiece is fitted with a black steel bracelet with a tweed motif and a double-folding buckle. The watch houses a high-precision quartz movement and is water resistant up to 30 metres.

Cartier Tank Américaine

Jimin watches

Price: USD 5,050

Perhaps the most notable watch in Jimin’s collection, the Cartier Tank Américaine is a premium timepiece with a rich history that dates back to 1917.

Master watchmaker Louis Cartier drew inspiration from the tanks used in World War I to craft this timepiece. The watch, in a typical Cartier fashion, boasts an octagonal crown with a blue synthetic spinel.

The silver dial of the watch sports blued-steel sword-shaped hands, and the steel case comes with an attractive navy-blue alligator leather strap. In addition, it offers a water resistance of up to 30 metres.

Gucci Interlocking-G

Jimin watches

Price: USD 1,000

Summing up the curation of Jimin’s watch collection is the Gucci Interlocking-G. While it comes in a myriad of colours and sizes, the one in the ‘Like Crazy’ singer’s ensemble is made of stainless steel.

Sporting a 42-millimetre dial, the highlight of the timepiece lies in its bezel, which is shaped like an interlocking G, representing the logo of the brand. The watch is powered by a quartz movement that offers high precision in timekeeping.

In terms of durability, the timepiece is water-resistant up to 50 metres. In practice, this means that the watch can be worn for short periods of recreational swimming. However, it is unsuitable for deep-sea diving or snorkelling.

J-Hope’s swankiest watches, from Audemars Piguet to Chanel https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/j-hope-watches-audemars-piguet-chanel/ Tue, 02 Apr 2024 03:43:36 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917009

The BTS rapper has a knack for elegant timepieces. Here’s what we know about J-Hope’s luxury watch collection.

Luxury, grandeur and spectacle — these terms define pop culture sensations the best. In every generation, such icons are known for enjoying riches like private jets and lavish mansions. Their opulent lifestyles draw much curiosity from fans who cannot help but marvel at their luxury assets.

The global pop landscape has been ruled by Bangtan Sonyeondan or BTS, of late. Their members — RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jungkook — are no less than superstars. Such widespread popularity comes with massive wealth. So much so that BTS is the richest K-pop band in the world.

Whenever we talk about the boy band, we cannot help but admire their unmatched fashion sense and all the elegant accessories they own — sneakers, jackets, bracelets… and watches!

In case you are unaware, it is the septet’s ensemble of timepieces that the hawk-eyed ARMY (BTS’ official fanbase) members are most interested in. Reports suggest the estimated worth of BTS’ overall watch collection stands at an impressive USD 1 million.

Like the rest of his band members, Jung Ho-seok — commonly known by his stage name J-Hope — has a penchant for luxury wrist adornments. On that note, let us delve deep into J-Hope’s collection of watches and their respective price tags.

The coolest watches flaunted by BTS member J-Hope

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph in 18k rose gold

(Image: Audemars Piguet)

Price: USD 95,000

Being the wealthiest among all the BTS members, it comes as little surprise to learn that J-Hope owns one of the most expensive watches in the septet’s collection. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph is not just a timepiece — it is a work of art.

Crafted out of 18-carat rose gold, the watch comes with a 41-millimetre brown dial with the brand’s signature “Grande Tapisserie” pattern. The chronograph counters are pink gold-toned, and so are the markers and the hands. In addition, the hands and the markers have a luminescent coating for better visibility in the dark. The watch dial is shielded by a sapphire crystal that is both scratch-resistant and glare-proof.

Under the hood, this Audemars Piguet timepiece houses the calibre 2385 self-winding mechanical movement. Each winding of the movement gives a power reserve of around 40 hours. The watch is water-resistant up to 50 metres.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in frosted gold

J-Hope watches
(Image: Audemars Piguet)

Price: USD 51,000

Another Audemars Piguet watch in J-Hope’s collection, this model retains all the signature design elements of the Royal Oak lineup. However, what makes this timepiece special is the fact that its body is made of frosted gold. The watch was produced in collaboration with Florentine jewellery designer Carolina Bucci.

The 37-millimetre silver-toned mirror dial comes with yellow gold applied hour markers and the traditional Royal Oak hands with a luminescent coating to facilitate dark visibility. Like most Royal Oak watches, this variant, too, sports a glare-proof and scratchproof sapphire crystal that protects the dial.

This Audemars Piguet timepiece is powered by the watchmaker’s in-house calibre 3120, a self-winding mechanical movement that comprises 282 parts. Each winding of the movement provides a power reserve of 60 hours. The watch comes with a water resistance of up to 50 metres. Notably, Audemars Piguet made only 300 pieces of this limited edition model.

Ironically, it was while filming a commercial for a car that J-Hope wore the timepiece, which is worth more than the vehicle.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding

J-Hope watches
(Image: Audemars Piguet)

Price: USD 48,000

J-Hope’s love affair with Audemars Piguet continues with this Royal Oak Selfwinding model that he sported on his wrist in the music video for Chicken Noodle Soup, a song from the mixtape Hope World.

In a signature Audemars Piguet fashion, this timepiece fashions the “Grande Tapisserie” pattern on the 41-millimetre dial that comes in the “Bleu nuit nuage 50” tone. The white gold-applied markers and the traditional Royal Oak hands bear a luminescent coating for ease of visibility in the dark. And, like the rest of the Royal Oak lineup, the dial is protected by a glare-proof and scratchproof sapphire crystal.

The watch is fitted with Audemars Piguet’s in-house calibre 4302, a self-winding mechanical movement that is made up of 257 parts and offers a power reserve of up to 70 hours. This timepiece is water resistant up to 50 metres. The model in question over here is one of the most sought-after watches in the world and is often seen as a close competitor of Patek Philippe’s Nautilus range.

Chanel J12 watch

J-Hope watches
(Image: Chanel)

Price: USD 9,650

One of the most exquisite watches in J-Hope’s collection is a Chanel creation. The J12 is elegant, sleek and a perfect fit for the Korean rapper and dancer.

Crafted out of white ceramic and steel, the watch sports a white-lacquered dial measuring 38 millimetres. The markers of the watch are 12 diamonds set on the dial. A steel unidirectional rotating bezel surrounds the dial, and the model comes with a white ceramic bracelet with a steel triple-folding buckle.

Under the hood, the watch is powered by Chanel’s in-house calibre 12.1, a self-winding mechanical movement. This timepiece is water resistant up to 200 metres.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2

Price: USD 220

Last but not least, J-Hope has a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 in his collection. This smart device sports a 34.5-millimetre AMOLED display on its 44-millimetre dial. The screen offers a 360×360 resolution and comes with a myriad of customisable ‘Always On’ watch faces.

This Samsung smartwatch is fitted with 1.5 GB RAM and is compatible with any smartphone running on Android 5.0 or higher. Additionally, the watch is also compatible with any iPhone running on iOS 9.0 or higher.

Like most of its competitors in the market, the smartwatch comes with every major sensor for health and fitness tracking, thanks to its 39 built-in trackers. This device is water resistant up to 50 metres.

A look back at the coolest Omega x Swatch timepieces https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/best-omega-moonswatches-in-2024/ Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:06 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916406

From the ‘Mission to the Moon’ to ‘Mission on Earth, the ever-changing taste of luxury watch aficionados leads legacy watchmakers to frequently step outside their comfort zones and come up with contemporary designs. Here are some of the best and coolest Omega MoonSwatches collection you should buy right now.

In any field, brand collaborations have been a valuable tool to grow audiences, and it has been so for years. This holds for timepieces as well. And, in the horology fraternity, Swatch is widely considered to be the king of collabs.

The Swiss watch brand, founded in 1983, was among the first to recognise the importance of partnerships. Over the years, they have teamed up with several brands like Jean-Michel Basquiat, HODINKEE, Kiki Picasso and Blancpain.

However, Swatch’s biggest collaboration happened in 2022 when they joined forces with fellow Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega. With over a century of legacy in timekeeping, Omega stands as a behemoth in the ever-ticking world of horology. The watchmaker has been a part of several chapters of mankind’s history.

Their finest hour came in 1969 when Neil Armstrong and Eugene ‘Buzz’ Aldrin became the first humans to land on the moon wearing the Omega Speedmaster Professional on their wrists. It is because of this event that the Speedmaster earned the moniker of the ‘Moonwatch’, and today the timepiece has become a cultural icon.

In its collaboration with Omega, Swatch decided to revisit this iconic range, giving birth to the MoonSwatch series. With a far reasonable price tag, the timepieces in the Omega MoonSwatch collection bring together the funky character of a Swatch watch and the timeless elegance and suave of Omega’s ‘Moonwatch’ in a rather fresh fashion.

Wondering what the collection looks like? We bring to you a curated list of the best Omega MoonSwatches that you can get your hands on in 2024.

Which are the best Omega MoonSwatches you can buy in 2024?

Mission To The Moon

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

The first model to be launched under the ‘MoonSwatch’ banner was the Mission To The Moon in 2022. This particular timepiece retained the classic look of the original Moonwatch’s body, with white hands and tachymeter scales adorning the black dial. The watch comes with a black VELCRO strap on the steel grey body.

Certain elements of this watch are common to all the Omega MoonSwatches. These include the Omega X Swatch branding, the iconic Speedmaster logo, the MoonSwatch logo, the glass construction, the hidden “S” integrated in the centre of the protective crystal, the iconic “dot over 90” detail on the tachymeter scaled bezel, and the Bioceramic case. In addition, all the watches are powered by quartz movement, unlike the mechanical movements typically seen on Omega watches, and are water resistant up to 30 metres.

Moreover, all the hands (including the chronograph seconds hands) and the indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova, a photoluminescent that offers better visibility in the dark. The Mission To The Moon timepiece is arguably the best Omega MoonSwatch to buy, even in 2024.

Mission To Neptune

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

For those who prefer a non-black dark tone on a timepiece, the Omega MoonSwatch Mission To Neptune is worth taking a look at. This model comes with a deep navy blue dial and fluted bezels, and the trademark black VELCRO strap perfectly complements the intense look of the watch. Additionally, all the hands and tachymeter scales come in white, giving a nice contrast to the dark colour schematic.

Like all the watches in the MoonSwatch lineup, the Mission To Neptune, too, sports the Omega X Swatch branding, the iconic Speedmaster logo, the MoonSwatch logo, the “dot over 90” detail on the tachymeter scaled bezel, and the Bioceramic case. The Mission To Neptune piece is one of the rarest in the MoonSwatch series, and is preferred by a host of celebrities, including ‘James Bond’ Daniel Craig.

Mission To Mercury

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

Are you a fan of the old-school rugged look? If yes, then you need not look beyond the Mission To Mercury MoonSwatch. The watch comes with an intense deep grey-coloured dial, a black bezel and a swanky metallic grey VELCRO strap. All the hands and the tachymeter scales bear the white colour and are coated with the Super-LumiNova photoluminescent for better visibility in the dark.

The watch retains all the traditional design and functional features of the MoonSwatch lineup and is powered by the quartz movement which, according to several horologists, offers better accuracy in timekeeping as compared to its mechanical counterparts.

Mission To Saturn

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

One of the boldest watches in the MoonSwatch series, the Mission To Saturn offers a versatile colour scheme. The sandy, cool beige tones on the main dial and the Bioceramic case run in a visually appealing contrast offered by the brown subdials, bezels, chronograph seconds hand and a VELCRO strap. However, the main attraction lies in the seconds subdial, which depicts Saturn’s rings, giving the timepiece a thematic look that is hard to beat.

Like the rest of the MoonSwatch lineup, the Mission To Saturn comes with all the brandings and logos, along with the “dot over 90” detail. Naturally, this timepiece is worthy of its place in the curation of the best Omega MoonSwatches to buy in 2024.

Mission To Venus

Omega MoonSwatch

As opposed to its traditional darker tones, the MoonSwatch series offers a chic timepiece in lighter shades in the form of the Mission To Venus. The white VELCRO strap on the watch perfectly offsets the powdery pastel pink Bioceramic case. The champagne dial complements the pink body of the watch well, and the pink-coloured hands (including the chronograph seconds hands) add a nice touch to the overall look of the model.

The eye-catching detail of the timepiece is the oval shape of the subdials. Embellished with diamond-like details, they elevate the visual appeal of the watch to a completely different level. Many luxury watch aficionados have complained about the feminine look of the Mission To Venus model, but we don’t see a problem with that, for it caters well to the needs of the women customers of the brand.

Mission To Jupiter

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

If you mistook this timepiece for the orbiting Gargantua from Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014), you are not alone. The Mission To Jupiter MoonSwatch, with its elegant beige tone (on the dials, bezel and the Bioceramic case) and the orange seconds hand from the 1968 Omega Speedmaster Ultraman, has an out-of-the-world look.

Much akin to the rest of the MoonSwatch lineup, the Mission To Moon is powered by the quartz movement and comes with the photoluminescent Super-LumiNova coating on the hands and the markers. This watch is one of the best Omega MoonSwatches to own in 2024, and we so wish we could have seen Matthew McConaughey sport it on his wrists as he travelled through the wormhole in search of a new home for humankind.

Mission To The Sun

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

An Omega watch that appeals more to Gen Z than millennials is practically unthinkable. But that is precisely the feat that this collaboration with Swatch allowed the watchmaker to achieve. The timepiece we are discussing is bold, radiant and worthy of its sobriquet of Mission To The Sun.

It sports a sun-brushed dial with a sun-yellow Bioceramic case, and the white subdials, markers, hours hands and the bezels perfectly complement the yellow. The orange seconds hand, subdial hands and the tachymeter scale add a nice finishing touch to the bold look.

A sizeable population in the world of horology has been of the opinion that the watch looks like a McDonald’s Happy Meal toy. And we don’t find it to be a criticism, for it is the vibrance of this timepiece that makes it unique. If you are in search of a funky luxury watch to buy in 2024, then this is perhaps the best from the Omega MoonSwatches collection.

Mission To Mars

Omega MoonSwatch 2024

Ah, it seems as if we gave our verdict on the best funky watch in the Omega MoonSwatches series (as of 2024) a bit too soon. With a fiery red Bioceramic case, the Mission To Mars timepiece shows little care to retain the virtues of the traditional Omega watches in sporting a muted yet elegant look. The bright white dial, bezel and VELCRO strap offer a brilliant contrast to the overall colour schematic.

The highlight of the watch is in its hours and minutes subdial hands. They are crafted in a playful spacecraft shape and bear the fiery red colour from the timepiece’s case. The miniature spacecraft reminds us of the one that was seen in the popular Tintin comic series, and if a soulful young man feels like a space explorer wearing this watch on his wrist, we won’t blame him.

Mission To Pluto

Mission to pluto

Do you remember the look of the control panels from the nuclear explosion scene of the Cillian Murphy-starrer Oppenheimer (2023)? We could not help but notice a stark similarity between them and the MoonSwatch Mission To Pluto timepiece. Perhaps the watch would have elevated Robert Oppenheimer’s ‘Father of the Atomic Bomb’ look on the silver screen had Christopher Nolan thought of it!

Of course, we might just be a little hung up on the movie, but one cannot deny that this MoonSwatch model sports a distinctly vintage look. The light cool grey tones on the dial and the Bioceramic case run in perfect contrast to the dark grey VELCRO strap and the black hands and markers. However, it is the burgundy on the subdials and the bezel that completes the retro aesthetics of the watch.

The Mission To Pluto timepiece is a nice tribute to the dwarf planet and makes one reminisce about the time when it used to be in the same league as the other planets in our solar system (Pluto can hold that against Neil deGrasse Tyson).

Mission To Moonphase

Mission To Moonphase

The latest offering in this iconic Omega X Swatch collaboration, this timepiece takes a leaf out of Omega’s watchmaking history. In 1970, NASA astronauts bestowed Omega with the ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ for the brand’s achievement of boasting the first watch to be worn on the moon. For context, Snoopy, the beloved anthromorph from the Peanuts comic strip, has been NASA’s safety ambassador since the 1960s.

To celebrate the full moon, this timepiece comes in an all-white colour scheme, including the VELCRO strap. The chronograph’s seconds hands, subdial hands, all the markers and the brandings, and the tachymeter-scaled bezel are in black and run in a soothing contrast to the light tone of the watch’s body.

In a first for Swatch, this MoonSwatch model integrates a moon phase subdial with one of its chronograph. The subdial at two o’ clock shows the different lunar phases and sports Snoopy and his best friend Woodstock comfortably nestled on the celestial satellite.

Swatch, famous for its funky approach to horological designs, has put the Super-LumiNova photoluminescent to good use in this Snoopy MoonSwatch variant. A hidden quote from the Peanuts comic strip is revealed under UV light on the moon phase subdial that reads, “I can’t sleep without a night light!”

Mission On Earth

Mission on earth

Summing up the list of the best Omega MoonSwatches to buy in 2024 is the Mission On Earth model. The timepiece stays true to its name with the combination of colours — the earthy green Bioceramic case is well complemented by the navy blue hue on the dial, bezel and the VELCRO strap.

The white on the subdials, the hours and the minutes hands, and the indexes further enhance the look of the timepiece. Adding a nice finishing touch to the design aesthetics is the brown colour on the chronograph seconds and the subdial counter hands.

Members of the horology community around the globe have expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the odd choice of the name, with many suggesting that ‘Mission Back To Earth’ would have served the watch better. However, that hardly takes anything away from the overall look of the timepiece, complete with all the traditional functional elements of the MoonSwatch series and quartz movement under the hood.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

– Which is the best Omega MoonSwatch to buy in 2024?
Even though it largely depends on the user’s preferences in terms of visual aesthetics, the Mission To The Moon model is, in our humble opinion, the best Omega MoonSwatch to buy in 2024, primarily because of the resemblance it shares with the classic Omega Moonwatch Professional.

Inside BTS Suga’s watch collection of exquisite timepieces https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/suga-watch-collection-audemars-piguet-patek-philippe/ Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:01 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916610

BTS rapper Suga’s luxury watch collection will definitely leave you in awe. From Audemars Piguet to Patek Philippe, here’s a look at the timepieces.

Being the richest K-pop band in the world, it comes as little surprise that the members of BTS own luxury assets not many can afford. From lavish mansions to private jets, they enjoy almost all the riches money can buy. Even then, whenever we talk of the boy band’s wealth, we cannot help but refer to their unmatched fashion sense and all the elegant accessories they carry. Among the accessories, people are most interested in the collection of watches of the BTS members. Like the rest of BTS members, Min Yoon-gi — popularly known as Suga and Agust D — has a penchant for elegant luxury watches and his watch collection is enviable.

While he is known to reap the benefits of being a rich pop culture figure, the Korean rapper is also an ardent philanthropist. Time and again, he has donated to children’s charities. As the world celebrates BTS and stays hooked to their songs, we turn our attention to Suga and take a moment to marvel at his impeccable collection of luxury watches whilst taking a look at their prices.

Here’s a peek at BTS rapper Suga’s luxury watch collection

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Automatic

Price: USD 40,590 (INR 33 lakh approx.)

The costliest watch in Suga’s collection, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Automatic is as timeless as the rapper himself. While the celebrated Royal Oak lineup comes in a myriad of shapes, shades and sizes, the one owned by the Korean rapper sports a 37-millimetre dial with rectangular markers in place of Roman or Arabic numerals.

The timepiece, with its characteristic octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet made of industrial steel, is a bold mark of luxury. Under the hood, the watch comes with Audemars Piguet’s in-house calibre 5900, which is a self-winding automatic movement. Each winding of the watch offers a power reserve of up to 60 hours.

In terms of durability, the watch is water resistant up to 50 metres. Additionally, the silver-toned “Grande Tapisserie” dial is protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal.

Patek Philippe Ellipse

Price: USD 36,900 (INR 30 lakh approx.)

An exquisite timepiece, the Patek Philippe Ellipse 5738R celebrated the 50th anniversary of the timeless Golden Ellipse model. The case of this watch is made of 18-carat rose gold, as are the hour markers and the hands on the ebony black sunburst dial.

The crown of the watch comes with an onyx gemstone. This timepiece comes with a shiny black alligator strap with square scales and a prong buckle. Under the hood, the watch is fitted with Patek Philippe’s in-house ultra-thin self-winding mechanical movement calibre 240.

A dress watch fit for all purposes, this Patek Philippe timepiece finds a place in Suga’s collection as it matches his bold and elegant personality.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

Price: USD 530 (INR 44K approx.)

Like his fellow band member Jungkook, Suga has also featured in Samsung’s advertisements, particularly in the Korean market. The tech brand gave the Korean rapper a Galaxy Watch 6.

Offering peak user experience, the Galaxy Watch 6 was touted by many as the ‘best smartwatch money can buy’ at the time of its release. The 47-millimetre dial comes with a 1.5-inch AMOLED display. The watch houses Samsung’s in-house Exynos W930 chipset and runs on One UI 5 Watch based on Google’s Wear OS 4. It comes with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

Fitted with all the fitness and health-monitoring sensors such as the BioActive Sensor (for measuring heart rate and electrical heart signal), Temperature sensor and Accelerometer (among others), the Galaxy Watch 6 is an industry-leading smartwatch. To top it off, it comes with a big 425 mAh battery and a comfortable silicon strap.

Casio G-Shock Classic GA-110GB-1A

Suga watch collection

Price: USD 165 (INR 13K approx.)

Rounding off Suga’s watch collection is the timeless Casio G-Shock Classic GA-110GB-1A. Known for its durability and endurance, the G-Shock series is preferred by many for hardcore sports as a performance watch.

Like many in the G-Shock lineup, the body of this particular variant is made of resin. The band, too, is made of resin, which enables the watch to be shock-resistant. The watch is powered by a quartz movement, which means that it runs on a battery instead of the winding movements found in most high-end analogue luxury watches. And that is not a bad thing — on the contrary, quartz movement is known to offer better precision in timekeeping when compared to its mechanical counterparts.

The battery of the watch has an average life of two years. The dial is protected by scratchproof mineral glass. In addition. the watch is water resistant up to 200 metres. This timepiece, which sports a black and gold dual-tone colour scheme, is ideal for a funky yet dapper look.

The new mission to the moon by Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch is in an all-white colour. Snoopy is perhaps the main highlight of the Moonphase. The lovable anthropomorphic beagle created by Charles M. Schulz is seen lying on his back on the moon in the moon phase disc at the subdial at 2 o’clock.

Omega x Swatch also added a quote from Snoopy’s comic strip on the moon phase mask and disc, which is visible only under UV light. The battery cover also features a moon inspired by Snoopy’s world.

Snoopy’s association with the moon goes back to the 1960s, when the character was picked as NASA’s mascot. Individuals and organisations are honoured with the Silver Snoopy Award by the agency for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success.

Omega received the prize in 1970 for its role in the history of space exploration, including its essential contribution to bringing the crew of Apollo 13 back home safe and sound.

Jungkook received this watch from the First Lady of South Korea, Kim Jung-sook, in September 2018. The present was a token of appreciation for BTS’ achievements.

Coming back to the timepiece, it fashions a white dial with a cream-beige leather strap. The dial features an engraving in Korean that reads ‘President Moon Jae In’. On the back of the watch, another phrase is engraved in Korean which translates to ‘People First’ in English.

Patek Philippe unveils its first standalone boutique in Bangkok with Cortina Watch

Located on the ground floor of Central Embassy, get ready to witness architectural beauty inside the Patek Phillipe shop. The 108-square-metre boutique’s exterior features a brand new façade concept. With its grooved stoned walls on the outside that contrast the textured decorative panels and leather-clad walls visible through the display windows, this new design is sure to catch the eye of passerbys.

For the interior, every detail of the boutique has been thoughtfully curated. From the meticulously selected decor and watches on display, to the designated relaxing areas, every element chosen is to transport guests into the world of Patek Philippe’s timekeeping. Here, one can explore the brand’s history as the shop has a mini library dedicated to watchmaking. There’s even a bar set up on the right side of the shop and a VIP room serving drinks for guests to unwind while speaking to Cortina Watch retail specialists.

The store’s highlight has to be the unique triptych artwork. Inspired by the Peacock Ref. 1627M Cloisonné Enamel Dome Table Clock, this art piece showcases the elegant bird in different poses across three panels. In the middle, the peacock presents its train fully on display. Meanwhile, the opposite panels illustrate a beautiful scene with two peacocks, one green and one blue, sitting on the branches of a maple tree. Now, what makes these artistic depictions incredible is the crafting technique used. The artist employed a traditional method of cloisonné enamelling, which requires several days or even weeks to finish. With such great intricacy, the triptych truly captures the essence of the Dome Clock, paying homage to its exceptional design.

Breguet unveils two stunning watches to honour the Year of the Dragon https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/breguet-unveils-two-stunning-watches-to-honour-the-year-of-the-dragon/ Thu, 08 Feb 2024 09:00:51 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1911415

As dragon-theme products are rolling out this year, Breguet has unveiled two exceptional timepieces paying tribute to the mythical creature’s reign this Lunar New Year.

Breguet, the prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer, has introduced two stunning timepieces that exquisitely capture the essence of the Chinese Zodiac, the dragon. One of the watches, the Classique Double Tourbillon Dragon – 5345, incorporates two tourbillons and an intricate mechanical stage, which showcases the beast in all its glory. Meanwhile, the Classique Dragon – 7145 has a slimmer design and focuses more on paying homage to the brand’s mastery of artistic crafts. Here’s a closer look at both models.

Breguet unveils two stunning watches to honour the Year of the Dragon

Classique Double Tourbillon Dragon – 5345 Special Edition

The Classique Double Tourbillon Dragon 5345 watch is a true embodiment of the dragon’s powerful and tenacious characteristics. Drawing from Abraham-Louis Breguet’s invention of the tourbillon in 1801, this special edition timepiece boasts technical brilliance and artistic mastery. It features two independent tourbillons, each rotating once per minute. Moreover, the Calibre 588N1 movement comprises an impressive 749 components that power this art, offering a 60-hour power reserve.

Of course, the dragon, hand-engraved in gold, is the standout feature of this mechanism. It clutches a mother-of-pearl pearl, symbolising power, wisdom, and longevity in Chinese culture. This special edition watch is truly a one-of-a-kind piece as Breguet allows for customisation in the dragon’s shape, colour, hands, and straps.

Classique Dragon – 7145 Limited Edition

Breguet has demonstrated its expertise in the rare and challenging Grand Feu enamelling technique through the Classique Dragon 7145. This exquisite timepiece is a limited-edition work of art, with only eight pieces available. The watch’s beautiful crimson red dial is achieved through multiple firings in a high-temperature kiln, showcasing Breguet’s exceptional craftsmanship. Since Grand Feu enamelling is known for its difficulty and high failure rate, Breguet’s ability to produce such stunning results with the glassy finish is a true testament to their mastery of the technique.

The Classique Dragon 7145 features a rose gold dragon appliqué, guarding a natural white mother-of-pearl pearl, making it a sight to behold. The watch has a 40mm rose gold case and is powered by the Calibre 502.3 self-winding movement, with a 45-hour power reserve.

Blancpain x Swatch unveil a new ‘Ocean of Storms’ colourway https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/blancpain-x-swatch-unveils-an-enigmatic-ocean-of-storms-colourway-to-the-scuba-fifty-range/ Wed, 10 Jan 2024 07:31:39 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1908000

The Blancpain x Swatch Fifty-Fifty range has added yet another coveted colourway to their Scuba Fifty range. It drops on 11 January 2024.

First introduced back in September of last year, the elusive high-low collaboration between Swiss high-horology manufacturer Blancpain with commercial Swiss watchmaker Swatch has easily made a solid case concerning the voracious consumer market appetite for historically significant watch designs reinterpreted for the masses.

Meet the Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty ‘The Ocean of Storms’

Tapping into the storied heritage behind the world’s first-ever dive watch, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, as the basis for their partnership, the inaugural collection comprised five different colourways. Dubbed the ‘Scuba Fifty’ watches, each was named after one of the world’s five oceans, featuring subtly varying designs that are unique to the nautical inspirations that they are meant to embody.

However, this sixth edition may just be the most desirable of the bunch, as it will be the only one to feature a sleek, monochromatic white-on-black colourway. Suitably named ‘The Ocean of Storms’ in honour of the 2 million square kilometer Oceanus Procellarum ‘sea’ on the Moon, this enigmatic take on the Scuba Fifty is contained in the same Bioceramic case as its predecessors. Only this time around, it has been painted black and will feature contrasting white numerals on its rotating bezel.

Likewise, the watch dial is suitably outfitted in the same colour scheme, tastefully paired with luminescent hour markers and orange accents on the tip of the second hand and the depth rating.

As is the case with the rest of the Scuba Fifty collection, ‘The Ocean of Storms’ iteration will similarly be powered by Swatch’s proprietary SISTEM51 mechanical movement and come with a matching NATO canvas strap.

Be prepared to battle for it in stores and online upon its release on January 11th 2024 for THB 14,700. Thankfully, as this is a non-limited releaseyou’ll still have your chance to nab it when stocks are replenished at a later date.

The Wondrous Winter Wonderland edition stars the whole family on the dial in a festive red colour. While the family is carolling in the snow on the dial, the red printed strap is adorned all over with gingerbread. Meanwhile, the Tidings of Joy edition is a cheerful, baby blue watch with illuminating red hands. Inspired by the very first episode of the show, the dial sees Bart, Maggie, and Lisa carolling while Homer and Marge reside on the strap.

The two releases are an addition to the prior Simpsons collaboration, featuring the Seconds of Sweetness that stands out with its bright yellow and pink doughnut motif.

All designs are available in-store or on the website.

LONGINES MASTER COLLECTION

The new Moon Phase Chronograph

The new Moon Phrase Chronograph comes in 40mm and 42mm sizes, along with a stainless steel case. And honestly, these timepieces are a beauty. It is 14.30mm thick, has a transparent sapphire crystal back, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal anti-reflective coated mirror that adds to the watch’s allure. One notable feature of this model is the anthracite dial with applied Roman numerals, which is absolutely stunning. This new model perfectly represents LONGINES’ philosophy: “Elegance is attitude.” It carries itself in a graceful and refined manner, and although the design does play a part, the aura goes beyond the physical attributes.

This new Moon Phase model features an automatic movement, calibre L687, which adds technical fascination. It also comes in both black and silver dials. The watch also has approximately 66 hours of power reserve, which is really impressive. Although this new model has no lume, it is water resistant to 3 bar. Customers can also choose between the alligator strap or the stainless steel bracelet.

Swatch releases Harvest moon special Mission to Moonshine Gold watch https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/omega-swatch-mission-to-moonshine-gold-harvest-moon-special/ Fri, 29 Sep 2023 06:53:17 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1894945 Mission to Moonshine Gold harvest moon

Swatch seems in the mood to continue reaping the success of its Mission to Moonshine Gold watch, a part of the Omega X Swatch MoonSwatch collaboration. The Swiss watchmaker has now released a new special edition of the watch to celebrate the Harvest moon on 29 September.

For astronomy enthusiasts, this Harvest moon is the last supermoon of 2023. A supermoon is when a full moon is at its closest point to Earth.

Swatch announced a few days ago that the Harvest moon special watch will be released in 85 Swatch stores across 75 cities around the world.

More about the Mission to Moonshine Gold watch and where to find it

What is special about the Harvest moon Mission to Moonshine Gold?

Harvest Moon Omega X Swatch Moonshine Gold
MoonSwatch Omega harvest moon

The Mission to Moonshine Gold watches have the second hand coated with Omega Moonshine gold, which is made from recycled gold from Swatch Group’s certified refinery.

Swatch says the “second hand is produced exclusively once a month during full moon dates, which are known to have a magical influence on many things, humans included”.

For the special edition Harvest moon version, Swatch has given a barley grain pattern to the second hand as an homage to the celestial event. There is also a secret signature that makes the hour markers and elements on the hands glow in the dark.

Where to buy the Harvest moon Mission to Moonshine Gold?

Bangkok is one of the 75 cities where Swatch dropped the Harvest moon special-edition watch on 29 September, made available only at the Swatch store in CentralWorld Megastore on Rama 1 Road in Pathum Wan.

The complete list of stores in other cities can be accessed directly by selecting the respective country on Swatch’s official website.

High demand for Mission to Moonshine Gold versions

The Mission to Moonshine Gold watch was first introduced as part of the massively popular Omega X Swatch MoonSwatch collaboration on 7 March 2023.

Its dial, caseback, and other details are similar to the Mission to the Moon watch from the original collection of 11 Bioceramic MoonSwatch watches. As such, it has a steel grey appearance with white hands and a tachymeter scale.

Swatch has since released special versions of the Mission to the Moonshine watch: Mission to the Moonshine Gold Pink Full Moon, Mission to the Moonshine Gold Flower Moon, and Mission to the Moonshine Gold Strawberry Moon. Each has some variation to the second hand ranging from a pink Super-LumiNova detail on the tip to a strawberry pattern across the hand.

In August, Swatch gave the Moonshine Gold touch to its MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune watch to mark the blue moon day. As such, Swatch is likely to produce more of the Moonshine Gold version of MoonSwatch on other significant moon days and, perhaps, with other MoonSwatch variants.

Mission to Moonshine Gold watches have sold out quickly in stores upon their release. While the retail price of the original model is around USD 295, the secondary market demand is currently at around twice that.

Previous releases and a new Swatch collaboration

Omega x swatch Mission Swatch watch Harvest Moon

At the time of its launch, the original Mission to Moonshine Gold watch was available in only four locations in four cities: London, Milan, Tokyo, and Zurich.

Swatch released the watches once more for just a day on 6 April. At the time, fans of the series could buy the watch at select stores in 14 new cities: Berlin, Geneva, Hong Kong, Macao, Madrid, Manchester, Naucalpan de Juárez, New York, Shanghai, Sydney, Rome, Seoul, Toronto, and Yokohama.

As more moon events happen, Swatch might keep adding cities for its Moonshine Gold releases.

Though the Omega X Swatch collaboration has been a runaway success, Swatch is apparently not resting. The watch brand has already entered into newer partnerships. In September, it joined hands with fellow Swatch Group subsidiary Blancpain for the Blancpain x Swatch ‘Scuba Fifty Fathoms’ series — five unique colourways inspired by the five oceans.

Exploring ‘Streaming Time’ with art curator Somi Sim and Breguet at Frieze Seoul 2023 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/culture/art/breguet-frieze-seoul-streaming-time-with-art-curator-somi-sim/ Wed, 20 Sep 2023 05:34:51 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1893503 somi sim breguet frieze

In a bold move last year, luxury watch manufacturer Breguet joined forces with Frieze contemporary art fair, presenting a series of curated presentations for watch and art lovers to admire at all Frieze international art events around the globe. This year, we got on a flight and flew to Seoul to attend the highly anticipated Frieze Seoul ourselves. Under the guidance of art curator Somi Sim, here’s a small stroll through ‘Streaming Time,’ Breguet’s special exhibition at Frieze Seoul this September.

Curator Somi Sim will oversee all four distinct curated displays in the Breguet lounges across Frieze art fairs over the year. An independent art curator that is based between Seoul and Paris, Sim engages themes of history and urbanism in her curatorial practices covering design and contemporary art. After visiting the Breguet manufacture and museum in Switzerland, her latest exhibitions for Breguet at Frieze are centred around the perception of time. Sim notes, “my curatorial approach to collaborating with Breguet considers both their importance in the invention of development of horology to create dialogue between the art and the broader understandings or horology shaped by history.”

Sim’s first chapter at Frieze New York was titled ‘Orbital Time,’ while at Frieze Seoul this year, it is titled ‘Streaming Time.’ Read on for a deeper exploration of the key pieces.

Exploring ‘Streaming Time’ with art curator Somi Sim and Breguet at Frieze Seoul 2023

After meandering around the exhibitions of some of the world’s most notable galleries, we sift our way through Seoul’s fashionable art crowd to explore the Breguet lounge and meet Somi Sim. The art curator speaks humbly and passionately about the Korean artists she has selected to interpret ‘Streaming Time,’ and we are quickly pulled into the conversation.

With a glass of champagne in hand, it is a special experience, and the layers of meaning and meta aren’t lost on us. As we wander, surrounded by some of Breguet’s most stunning timepieces, chat with the team that has flown in from Switzerland, and even take part in the Guillochage demonstration, it is wonderful to think about all the different symbols of time around us. The art pieces take this even further.

streaming time somi sim breguet

Heemin Chung: The artist that takes his time

One of Somi Sim’s aims for the Breguet exhibition at Frieze Seoul was to contrast recent media with traditional media, merging a beautiful connection between the art work and the displays of Breguet’s more recent novelties and historical timepieces.

Within the lounge, Heemin Chung’s paintings greet the eye first, displaying a more traditional form of art. Through the unconventional use of gel medium, the artist utilises layers upon layers to create an illusion of floral petals. Together, her series of paintings show the passing of time in the life of a flower, as it evolves and changes through the seasons. As Sim tells us, “flowers are active and reactive receivers of streaming time.”

The passing of time is also reflected in the way the art pieces are constructed. The gel medium takes months to dry, and Chung only works on one layer at a time. It is not without reason that the pieces of this popular new Korean artist are so hot in demand, especially as they can take months to commission. It is proof that carefully constructed pieces — be they art or time pieces — remain one of the world’s most revered treasures.

Sungseok Ahn: The photographer who went to the army

After being welcomed by the sight of Heemin Chung’s delicate flowers, our art tour gets a shake-up through the alarming sound of bullets towards the back of the exhibit. Experimenting with notions of modern ‘streaming’ (phone-scrolling, gaming, even K-drama-bingeing), this is how we are introduced to the work of Sungseok Ahn.

The military work of Ahn explores a more modern art medium with video, digital photography, and sound. It is inspired by the artist’s own experience with the army service, as this is mandatory for all Koreans. Ahn joined the army as a young man, where he worked as a professional photographer, “shooting” with a camera instead of a gun — a message he conveys in his video, too. Again, the notion of time takes on various layers, through themes of competition, catastrophe, and ultimately, solidarity. The clip ends with soldiers lying on the ground with their eyes closed, and sombre thoughts start to invade the mind. Then, Sim asks us to listen carefully: do the bullets not resemble the sound of an alarm?

The art curator wakes us up to the world of possibility, a fantastic opening of the mind that is not uncommon at the world’s greatest art fairs. As we finish our flute of champagne, we marvel at the complexity with which each of the artists have interpreted ‘Streaming Time,’ and the beauty with which we surround ourselves, most fittingly, together with one of the world’s most storied timekeepers.

About Breguet x Frieze

Breguet commenced its partnership with Frieze global art fair in 2022, further reinforcing its long-standing connection to the arts. The exciting collaboration has seen artists presented at Frieze’s five international art fairs: Frieze London, Frieze Masters, Frieze New York, Frieze Los Angeles, and Frieze Seoul. The partnership is expected to run through 2024.

TUDOR drops its newest Black Pelagos FXD, inspired by the U.S. Navy https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/tudor-drops-black-pelagos-fxd/ Wed, 20 Sep 2023 04:00:30 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1893346

Meet the ultimate modern “Milsub”— TUDOR’s latest drop in black, the new Pelagos FXD, paying homage to its dive watch history with the U.S. Navy.

The story begins in the 1950s when TUDOR’s dive watches underwent rigorous tests and evaluations by the U.S. Navy. However, it wasn’t until 1958 that the Navy divers officially adopted them for use. With over 60 years of rich history, it’s not uncommon for a brand to show its unconditional support. Fast forward to today, TUDOR released its latest Pelagos FXD model, which comes with a black dial, ready for underwater duty.

The new TUDOR Pelagos FXD in forest green with a red stripe fabric strap and a black rubber strap

The new TUDOR Pelagos FXD

Created in homage to TUDOR’s decades of service to the Navy, the new Pelagos FXD is quite similar to the latest version that was designed in collaboration with the Marine Nationale. However, this version’s main differences are the black dial and the uni-directional rotating bezel, which meets the ISO standard for dive watches. The new Pelagos comes in a 42mm titanium case with a satin brush finish. And, of course, being an FXD model, it has the FiXeD strap bars, which add much character to the timepiece. It also uses the in-house Calbire MT5602, ensuring robustness, longevity, and reliability with a 70-hour power reserve.

Regarding aesthetics, you can see how this model effortlessly blends the features of TUDOR’s past divers with modern engineering. For instance, the “Snowflake” hands and square hour indices pay tribute to TUDOR’s Oyster Prince Submariner from the late 1960s. There’s excellent lume on the dial and bezel, so there’s no need to worry about being unable to see in poor light conditions. What a big plus point for night visibility. The satin brush finish also produces a matte effect, helping limit light reflection.

Customers are given a choice between two strap options: a dark forest green with a red stripe fabric strap or the black rubber alternative. Overall, the new Pelagos makes a great contemporary dive watch. Now, available with a black version that has a striking and impressive appearance, this model can help expand the FXD to wider audiences beyond the blue shade.

Affordable dive watches you can buy right now https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/affordable-dive-watches-for-the-best-value/ Mon, 18 Sep 2023 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1892908

Looking for a dive watch but don’t have thousands of dollars to spend? Here are some affordable dive watches you can buy right now for under USD 1,000.

While dive watches were initially crafted as tools for scuba divers and adventurous enthusiasts, their popularity has increased beyond that community. Now, dive watches have become a sought-after fashion accessory that even non-divers can appreciate. Whether due to their rugged yet stylish design or underwater practical utilities, dive watches are a favourite for many — even if their boldest underwater activities are probably a dip in the sea or the pool.

Designed to last a lifetime, the price tag of dive watches can be pretty hefty. This is due to the combination of high-quality materials, specialised features, precision engineering, durability, and, most importantly, brand reputation. However, after doing some research, we’ve broken down a list of 6 affordable dive watches for the best value. Check it out.

[Hero & Feature Image Credit: Shahrukh Rehman / Unsplash]

Affordable dive watches for the best value you can buy right now

The Orient Ray II looks sleek and expensive, but it costs just under USD 200, which is a bang for your buck. This dive watch has a glossy finish coming in a scratch-resistant stainless steel case with a matching three-link bracelet. One notable feature of this watch is the abundant lume coating on both the hands and hour indices. So, it will glow brightly if you’re in a dark place. It also has 200-metre water resistance.

Another best value dive watch in the market, and in fact one of the most affordable, is the Casio Duro. Despite its launch in 2011, the Duro is still solid and incredibly reliable. Costing around USD 50 to 150, depending on the retailer, the Duro has some great features. For instance, the design borrows some essence of the most established dive watches in the market. However, it still has its own originality to not get lost. It’s also 200-metre water resistant and has a lume pip.

Although the Seiko 5 Sports is only 100 metres water resistant, we decided to include it, as the design is based on Seiko’s infamous SKX dive watch series. This timepiece looks classic. It’s ideal for any occasion, maybe not deep dives due to the water resistance, but it’s definitely suitable for many of us. Plus, for under USD 350, the Seiko 5 Sports is a great deal for a “diving style” watch.

Priced at just under USD 650 is the Baltic Aquascaphe Diver. Yes, the price range went up twice as much for this French-based microbrand, but so the quality for this timepiece is on par. The Aquascaphe, inspired by the 50s-60s sports watches, has a retro, skin-diver feel, yet looks so fresh. It brings together the best of both worlds between vintage and modern aesthetic. The Aquascaphe comes in 39mm with 200-metre water resistance, and despite the collection being designed for diving, it’s also perfect for everyday use.

The name Seastar 1000 is attributed to this Tissot diver that has 300 metre water resistance, a.k.a. 1000 feet. It’s an impressively affordable dive watch, given that it is only priced around USD 430. This Swiss-made steel watch comes in 40mm and has a clean and balanced look. However, the lume is less remarkable than some other models. Since the bezel is polished ceramic, it catches a lot of light, making it very shiny, so it can be hard to see the markers.

The last affordable dive watch on our list is part of the Citizen Promaster Diver collection. Here we’ll be talking about the eco-drive version in 44mm. An eco-drive is a watch that’s sustainably powered by light, which is fantastic. The current price of this Promaster Diver is USD 300 on the Citizen website, initially USD 375. Now, one of the best features of this diver is the lume. It has one of the best lumes in this listing and for the price range overall. The watch lasts around 6 months if fully charged via sunlight or artificial light. It is also 200-metre water resistant. Quite the catch.

The minimalist design is inspired by the popular A168 line of Casio wristwatches. This new unisex watch comes with a pared-back stainless steel band and is based on the popular Casio vintage timepieces.

Sporting a utilitarian look and effortless wearing, the chronograph uses a sleek silver band, reminiscent of the classic architecture of the French capital. Coupled with a cream-coloured dial, orange LCD and Café Kitsuné’s logo, the watch pays tribute to the brand’s global appeal. In an ode to the label’s graphic heritage, the Casio timepiece also incorporates Café Kitsuné’s Fox logo outline on the buckle and engraves it on the case back.

This new wearable line bears Casio’s characteristic horological craftsmanship and expertise. It is not only lightweight and water-resistant but also features a daily alarm, a stopwatch, an hourly time signal, an auto-calendar and an EL backlight.

The Café Kitsuné x Casio Vintage watch will be available online at maisonkitsune.com. You can also find it across Café Kitsuné boutiques and selected retailers from 6 September 2023.

The Casio website says this collaborative piece is available for USD 99.95 (approx. THB 3,567).

The evolution of the Casio Vintage series

In 1974, the Casiotron set an unprecedented example in the wearable timepiece segment as the world’s first wristwatch to automatically display the correct calendar date.

The Casio Vintage series inherited the Casiotron design and gained immense popularity across the world. Its affordable price, durability and unique retro style brought the characteristic design of the ’70s and ’80s eras to contemporary times.

Staying true to its heritage and dedicated excellence, the Casio Vintage series continues to be cherished even after almost 50 years.

10 famous Swatch collaborations to check out https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/famous-swatch-collaborations-to-check-out/ Thu, 14 Sep 2023 02:00:24 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1892675 swatch collaborations

Yes, Swatch has just released its newest collab with Blancpain, and it’s currently all over our social media feeds. But have you heard about the other famous Swatch collaborations?

Nowadays, collaborations have become a useful and valuable tool for brands to grow their audience. Whether it’s high fashion, streetwear, artwork, or even timepieces, we’ve all seen some sort of collaboration before.

Swatch is one of the kings of collabs. Founded in 1983, this Swiss watch brand was among the first to recognise the significance of brand partnerships. Not only is partnering with another brand beneficial for Swatch, but the same goes for their collaborators. For instance, if you check out the recent Swatch and Blancpain unexpected collaboration, the product was making waves even before the release. Despite Swatch having had numerous partnerships since the 80s, here are some famous Swatch collaborations you should know.

[All images courtesy of Swatch]

Famous Swatch collaborations to check out

Mission to Mars Moonswatch

Swatch x OMEGA Moonswatch

The Swatch and OMEGA collaboration in 2022 took the world by storm as many individuals tried to get their hands on the recreation of the Speedmaster Moonwatch. Available in various colours, this collaborative project between the two brands received massive global attention and excitement. Why? The Bioceramic Moonswatch collection was a great marketing ploy as it allowed people to enjoy the aesthetics of OMEGA’s Moonwatch at a significantly reduced price (at retail, of course). Now, the Moonswatch is iconic, becoming a part of pop culture. Even if you’re not a watch person, it’s very likely you’ve heard of the Moonswatch.

Swatch x Jean-Michel Basquiat Set

Swatch x Jean-Michel Basquiat

Just a few months ago, Swatch paid tribute to one of the most prolific artists of the 20th century, Jean-Michel Basquiat. This collab is a limited three-watch set that brings Basquiat’s iconic paintings from the early 1980s to one’s wrist. Not only is it edgy with the vibrant colours and red and black hands, but there’s also a deeper meaning to the designs.

Sistem51 HODINKEE Vintage 84 Swatch

Swatch x HODINKEE

After its release in 2017, the Swatch Sistem51 HODINKEE Vintage 84 flew off the shelves in just three days. The Vintage 84 is undeniably stylish with its translucent black plastic case and the comfortable silicone strap. And although the timepiece may look like your typical Swatch at first, you’ll discover it’s much more refined.

Over Charm Swatch

Swatch x Manish Arora

Back in 2010, Indian fashion maker Manish Arora designed the Over Charm Swatch. It’s like a semi-bangle bracelet with clusters of heart-shaped charms dangling from the bangle. For the centre stage, romance takes over with a vibrant fluorescent pink dial and shiny silver heart motifs marking the hours. A very cute timepiece.

The Painted Time collection

Swatch x Stephen Dean

While this collaboration seems less flashy and exciting than other Swatch partnerships, it nonetheless possesses a compelling allure. The Painted Time collection comprises five distinct timepieces that use colourful plexiglass to harmonise with the watch’s elements. For those well-versed in Stephen Dean’s artistic oeuvre, it’s evident that this collection mirrors his signature style. For art lovers, it’s like having his original artwork on your wrist without paying a fortune.

Time Tranny Swatch

Swatch x David LaChapelle featuring Amanda Lepore

Imagine having Lepore’s face and red lips on your watch dial, along with a naked geisha on the straps. This Swatch collaboration was truly revolutionary. Although it may not seem provocative now, back in 2000, it sure was, as the Time Tranny edition was an important step towards inclusion for the LBGTQIA+ community.

Vivienne Westwood Pop Swatch

Swatch x Vivienne Westwood

Despite the POP Swatch collection debuting in 1986, it wasn’t until 1993 that the legendary Vivienne Westwood put her magic on it. The timepiece had her signature flair, and the box came in Westwood’s iconic cross-topped orb logo. This collaboration also marked the first time a fashion designer contributed to the watch’s design.

Swatchetables

Swatch x Alfred Hofkunst

A very unique Swatch collaboration was with Alfred Hofkunst in 1991. The Austrian artist was one of the first Swatch collaborators who took a different approach to incorporating his artwork into the watches. Hofkunst went outside the traditional silhouette when developing the Swatchetables. The pieces were mini sculptural time-telling devices that reimagined popular foods. This collection came in red pepper, cucumber, and a strip of bacon.

1986 Keith Haring Swatch Watch Modele avec Personnages and Blanc sur Noir

Swatch x Keith Haring

Although Swatch and Keith Haring had a recent collaboration in 2021, the legendary duo actually joined forces in 1986. It may look like doodles, but Haring’s colourful abstracts depicted worldly issues and were a sign of those times. On the 1986 Swatch watches, we see his designs on the four models that carry his street art legacy in bite-size versions.

Kiki Picasso Swatch

Swatch x Kiki Picasso

Lastly, we can’t forget the creative collaboration piece that started it all— the GZ008. In 1985, Swatch partnered with French artist Kiki Picasso to create the avant-garde GZ008, limited to 140 pieces. Despite Swatch’s spark in popularity before this collab, the project with Picasso propelled the brand to new heights. The GZ008 was more than just a watch. It was art that represented that decade all in one. Starting at USD 48, the watch is now sold for up to USD 30,000.

Blancpain opens its first-ever pop-up store in Thailand at Central Embassy https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/blancpain-first-ever-pop-up-thailand-central-embassy/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 07:00:50 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1891464

If you’re a watch aficionado, don’t miss Blancpain’s first-ever pop-up store in Thailand.

Originating back to 1735, Blancpain is history’s oldest surviving watchmaking manufacturer. From adhering to their top-tier craftsmanship, continuous innovations, strict standards, and over 280 years of experience, it is no wonder why they remain one of the world’s most respected watchmakers. However, despite not having their own stand-alone shop in Thailand, Blancpain’s pop-up marks its very first steps.

Thailand’s first-ever Blancpain pop-up store

Until November 28, 2023, Blancpain has opened it’s first-ever pop-up store in Thailand at Central Embassy, level G. Under the theme of ‘There is Eternity in Every Blancpain,’ the shop showcases four stunning key watch collections.

Within the pop-up store, the areas are divided into four sections. Each zone is dedicated to presenting watches from each distinguished collection: ‘Villeret’ symbolising Earth, ‘Fifty Fathoms’ embodying water, ‘Air Command’ representing air, and ‘Ladybird’ epitomising fire. Throughout the store, you can see how each timepiece has its own spell-binding identity and design that genuinely captivates one’s attention. For instance, the Ladybird collection is absolutely gorgeous. The event introduced summer-inspired Ladybird colours that had a refreshing design. Whether it is the mother-of-pearl dial, the rainbow-hued hour markets, or the diamonds set, one can tell that Blancpain’s timepieces are the epitome of luxury watchmaking.

However, the spotlight was the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 2: Tech Gombessa. This cutting-edge model was crafted due to the demands of modern diving. The watch was also a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms and a decade of collaboration between Blancpain and Laurent Ballesta, a professional diver. Designed for long-duration deep dives, it is without a doubt that this timepiece has unmatched technical prowess and is only worn by the best.

Blancpain Pop-Up Store opens daily from 11 AM until 7:30 PM. It is located on Level G at Central Embassy from today until November 28, 2023. For further information, please call +66 62 245 9602 or visit Blancpain’s website here

Maurice Lacroix unveils the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/maurice-lacroix-unveils-the-aikon-skeleton-urban-tribe/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 04:00:42 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1892398

For the past few years, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon collection has gained much recognition. Its popularity stems from the Aikon lineup being one of the most attractive yet accessible sports watches with an integrated design. Recently, the brand has outdone itself again with its newest boldest expressions— the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe.

In 2021, Maurice Lacroix released the Aikon Urban Tribe, which quickly sold out. After receiving numerous demands for another Urban Tribe model, they finally delivered. This year, they have brought back their extremely popular design, but presented in a skeleton form.

[All images courtesy of Maurice Lacroix]

Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe

The newly released Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe comes in a limited edition of 500 pieces. Once again, the design comes in the form of tribal tattoos inspired by urban architecture and buildings. However, the difference of this model is the sapphire dial, revealing the intricate structure of the movement. As the company worked closely with Sellita, a movement specialist, a skeletonised Sellita movement powers this exclusive calibre for Maurice Lacroix. Looking closely at the watch, one can see how the movement plays with transparency, allowing light to illuminate and pass through the openings. Honestly, when one looks at this watch, it’s like a work of art. Despite being stunning and unique, the Skeleton Urban Tribe also shows how brilliant craftsmanship and design intertwine.

Regarding the size, the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe comes in a 39mm stainless steel case with a laser-engraved intricate motif. There’s also a matching bracelet. Like all other Aikon models, this new watch sits nicely on the wrist with the utmost comfort for the wearer. It’s also equipped with the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange System, meaning swapping the strap for an alternative doesn’t need any tools and is user-friendly.

The AIKON Skeleton Urban Tribe watch is priced at 158,000 THB. For those interested in viewing this exquisite limited edition timepiece or for further details, please visit the Maurice Lacroix Boutique on the 2nd floor of Gaysorn Village, call 02-853-9742, or contact their LINE Official @MauriceLacroixTH.

Meet all five of the Blancpain x Swatch ‘Scuba Fifty Fathoms’ watches https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/meet-all-five-of-the-blancpain-x-swatch-scuba-fifty-fathoms-watches/ Thu, 07 Sep 2023 04:27:38 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1892005

After waiting on much-bated breath, horological enthusiasts and Swatch fans alike can finally have a close look at the highly anticipated Blancpain x Swatch collaboration, which made its global debut on the social media channels of both brands.

Following in the success of their previous high-low collab with Omega, the Blancpain x Swatch range was conceived on the foundational success of Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms diver’s watch, bearing all of its high-brow counterpart’s signature design cues, from a diver’s bezel to luminescent hour markers.

Meet the Blancpain x Swatch ‘Scuba Fifty Fathoms’ collab

The collection, dubbed the Scuba Fifty Fathoms, includes five watches in varying colourways that range from a subdued, monochromatic grey piece to a substantially flashier black-on-yellow combination. Naturally, they are all water resistant for up to 91 metres, which measures exactly fifty fathoms.

In tribute to what has been lauded as the very first diver’s timepiece created 70 years ago by Blancpain, each watch takes its name after one of Earth’s five major oceans and includes minute details in reference to the locales. The red-on-cream iteration for example was christened after the Arctic Ocean and features a red trefoil on a yellow background with a white cross cutting through it, set close to the bottom of the dial.

Other significant oceans to make the cut include the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian, and of course, the Antarctic, to round off a full trip across the globe.

Bioceramic case married to a SISTEM51 movement

Every Scuba Fifty Fathoms watch is made out of the same Bioceramic material found on the Swatch x Omega To the Planets range, which features a combination of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced material derived from castor oil. While it isn’t likely to be nearly as sturdy as an original Fifty Fathoms, the Scuba Fifty is likely to resist a few occasional scratch and dings.

As for the heart of the watch itself, the Scuba Fifty Fathoms range will be powered by Swatch’s proprietary SISTEM51 mechanical movement, conceived in 2013 and consisting of exactly 51 components. Naturally being a mechanical watch, you can marvel at the movement’s oscillations from a clear case back. Needless to say, the decision to offer this as a mechanical watch likely harkens back to Blancpain’s insistence on releasing only mechanical watches in its lineup throughout its history.

The non-limited collection will be available to purchase in select Swatch outlets worldwide, or ordered through their official website for approximately $400 (approx. THB 14,230). Sales will commence on September 9th, 2023.

Blancpain and Swatch tease a collaboration launching this week https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/blancpain-x-swatch-collaboration-details-launch-date/ Tue, 05 Sep 2023 07:02:54 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1891712 blancpain x swatch

After the immense hype around the MoonSwatch launched in collaboration with Omega, Swatch strikes again. This time, Swatch and Blancpain are collaborating for the first time, marking a second partnership between two of the Swatch Group’s most beloved brands. Internet, are you ready to break once again?

Whilst the rumour mill had been churning for a while, the confirmation for a Blancpain x Swatch collab came last week when Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek announced that Blancpain and Swatch would be joining forces to create a special collection.

Following this statement, the first Blancpain x Swatch advertisements were spotted in newspapers and online this week, much to the delight of watch enthusiasts around the globe.

Blancpain and Swatch tease a collaboration launching this week

Both Swatch and Blancpain have been relatively smug and silent about the collab, and many details about the new collection have not been unveiled just yet.

At the time of writing, selected Swatch and Blancpain boutiques have reported the arrival of a “professionally-sealed yellow Peli case” which features the collab’s official logo, “consisting of a crown showing both the Swatch “S” and the “KB” from Blancpain,” according to WatchTime.

What does the Blancpain x Swatch collection look like?

According to GQ, there will be five watches in the Blancpain x Swatch collection, each named after one of the world’s five oceans. This follows a similar pattern to the Omega x Swatch collection, where each timepiece was named after a planet, the sun, or the moon.

It is no coincidence. Just like how Omega has a special relationship with space travel, Blancpain has a special relationship with the oceans. The watchmaker created the first-ever dive watch, now also famously known as the Fifty Fathoms, and has pledged its commitment to the oceans ever since.

Blancpain was founded in 1735, and is recognised as the world’s oldest watch brand. With a home base in Le Sentier and Le Brassus, it has been a member of Swatch Group since 1992. It is known for its impressive history and has long been a favourite amongst luxury watch collectors. Blancpain x Swatch will undeniably open up the floor for even lesser-deep-pocketed watch enthusiasts to gain access to this luxury watchmaker — perhaps even a connection to the iconic Fifty Fathoms.

When is the collection launching?

In an Instagram post published just yesterday, the launch date was finally unveiled, and it’s sooner than you might think. According to Swatch and Blancpain, the collab is set to launch on 9 September 2023.

Whilst we don’t have much detail on where the collab will drop in Thailand this Saturday, according to the Swatch Thailand website, it looks like it will be available here. According to various sources, Blancpain x Swatch will only be sold in Swatch stores where the yellow case was delivered and is displayed in the window. Whilst it may appear in Blancpain boutiques too, these will be for display only.

Stay tuned as we too ponder at the edge of our seats — and see you in the queue.

Blackpink’s quiet luxury watches we’re obsessing over https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/blackpinks-best-quiet-luxury-watches/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 10:04:58 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1891250

From Rolex to Cartier, our favourite K-pop quartet truly love their quiet luxury timepieces. Here, we look at the best of Blackpink’s quiet luxury watches.

While trend cycles this summer have ceremoniously lapped up the quiet luxury fashion trend, it comes as no surprise that stealth wealth-approved watches constitute one segment that cannot be as easily duplicated as its sartorial counterpart. For K-pop idols Blackpink, their watch collection might be relatively recent but it’s the wonders they’ve picked up that thunderously proclaim how soft-spoken their fortune really is. Today, we take a closer look at the best of Blackpink’s quiet luxury watches.

Blackpink’s love for quiet luxury and watches

Not every K-pop idol can make it big, but those sitting front-row at the world’s most coveted fashion events have cut out the competition. Although their earnings might evoke envy in some people, it is inevitable that these stars enjoy the fruits of their own labour. Even if that means blowing extra cash on some truly covetable luxury watches.

For Blackpink, the South Korean popstars are no strangers to the quiet luxury trend. While their stage personas are all about lace, corsets, and frills, off-cameras, Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa have established their love for the logoless aesthetic. Despite all four ladies signing the dotted line for multiple luxury endorsements — Lisa is the ambassador for Bulgari, Celine, Mac, and Prada; Rosé for Saint Laurent, and Tiffany & Co.; Jisoo for Dior Beauty and Cartier; and Jennie for Chanel and Calvin Klein — their exclusive picks from these labels have often abandoned their prominent insignia. It is their ability to swap maximalism with understated tees, unbranded denims, and understated luxury watches that ensures these ladies are always on-trend.

What are some of Blackpink’s quiet luxury watches?

While the Blackpink ladies have often expressed their love for eclectic accessories, it is to be noted that their love for quiet luxury watches has been as subtle as the trend itself. Jisoo and Lisa’s wrists have showcased a few timeless selections while Jennie and Rosé remain confined to a couple of costly iterations. We take a look at the best of Blackpink’s quiet luxury pieces.

1. Lisa in the Rolex Datejust 69173

Always an accessories girl, Lisa knew her floral mini dress from UNIF would not be the same without her assortment of embellishments— one of which happened to be the Rolex Datejust 31. Among the lineup, however, was her Chanel calfskin bum bag, Chrome Hearts ring, hoops, and alphabet necklace from Celine. She even picked up a pearly heart hair clip to accentuate her fringed double buns. If her accessories gravitated toward silvers, it was her Rolex that added the much-needed metallic gold contrast. With its 11-diamond dial and five-piece link metal bracelet, the watch is one of the more irreplaceable pieces in Lisa’s collection.

For a quiet day out in Seoul with friends, Lisa lined up her quiet luxury-approved accessories and took them for a collective spin. From her Celine mini backpack Folco In Triomphe canvas and calfskin to her Margaret Jeans from the brand, the Blackpink rapper ensured her outfit did most of the talking. While her Vivienne Westwood-designed beaded charm necklace definitely warrants a second look, it’s her Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 in a celebrity favourite shade of Tiffany Blue that establishes Lisa’s love for quiet luxury. Owning a Rolex might be on everyone’s wishlist but casually wearing one for a last-minute Tuesday lunch is the ultimate sign of elite access.

Sleek, minimal, and a masterpiece in steel casing, this watch comes with a faceted crown in steel and is decorated with a synthetic cabochon-shaped spinel. Zoom in and you can see the glorious Chanel branding forming the canvas for this timepiece. If the bezel is a more minimal rendition, it’s the watch’s steel chain bracelet, interwoven with a black leather ribbon strap that fixates you with its charm. The price? 5. Jisoo in Panthère de Cartier Watch

To fit into the Parisian dress code, Jisoo pulled out an effortless Acne Studio wrap dress to match the bright skies of the French capital. Case in point is her Panthère de Cartier watch and the silver Clash de Cartier bracelet — all available for a small fortune each. Doubling up a statement piece of jewellery, Jisoo’s timepiece features a steel case, a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds, and an inconsequential price tag of few thousand dollars.

A new MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold is being released this month https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/the-new-moonswatch-mission-to-neptune-moonshine-gold-is-only-sold-for-one-day/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 06:50:54 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1890727

A special edition of the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune is being released this August. It’s time to get in queue once again.

Fans of Omega’s high-low collaboration with Swiss fashion watchmaker Swatch can now look forward to yet another release under the MoonSwatch collection, with the debut of the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold colourway.

In commemoration of the impending Blue Moon astrological phenomenon that is set to take place this week, the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold is meant to also serve as a sequel to last year’s edition.

This also marks the newest addition to the Mission to Moonshine MoonSwatch Gold watches for 2023 overall, with slight tweaks on the collection’s aesthetic recipe being offered in each fresh revamp.

Meet the new MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold watch

This includes everything from the addition of recycled gold plating, a secretly engraved number ‘3’, to pink accents and even a print made using traditional Swiss lanterns on the second needle of each varying edition. With that said, the case itself has remained the same overall, paying homage to the black seen on the original MoonSwatch.

For the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold however, the watchmakers have elected to represent the parallels between blue moons and the MoonSwatch by means of using the Neptune colourway. Cast in a 42mm diameter case made of Swatch’s signature Bioceramic material, the watch also features a black strap with matching Neptune blue accents.

Naturally, being a Moonshine Gold watch, the chronograph also features a second needle plated using recycled gold sourced from a certified refinery that has worked in partnership with Swatch for the project. And to add to the lunar connection, each watch sold will come with a certificate to confirm that the second needle was indeed crafted under the spell of a full moon. The jury’s out on whether any lycanthrope abilities are conferred to the wearer, though.

With that said, expect strong demand for the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune Moonshine Gold watch, as in the case with its predecessors, this limited-edition design will only be sold for approximately one day. You can purchase yours on August 30 across Swatch boutiques globally for approx. THB 9500, if the odds are in your favour.

Van Cleef & Arpels introduces new timepieces to its Perlée collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-new-timepieces-perlee-collection/ Thu, 24 Aug 2023 03:00:06 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1889732

In 2008, Van Cleef & Arpels launched its Perlée collection, which has become part of their identity. However, the Perlée motif has been the brand’s signature since the 1920s and remains iconic to this day. Literally translating to ‘beaded’ in English, the design consists of numerous golden spherical beads. This design technique is seen in countless of their creations, including their newest additions to the Perlée collection.

With Van Cleef & Arpels’ recent additions to its Perlée collection, the latest items showcase the company’s jewellery and watchmaking savoir-faire. Not only are these watches stunning, but these new variations offer a contemporary take on jewellery that tells time.

[All Images Courtesy of Van Cleef & Arpels]

The newest additions to Van Cleef & Arpels’ Perlée collection

VCA’s new creations come in five timeless models— four with 23mm diameter cases, while the fifth comes with a 30mm case. Each watch highlights the Maison’s Perlée aesthetic with a double row of golden spheres displaying their side in mirror-polished rose gold or diamond-paved white gold.

The dials are adorned with a décor of pavé-set diamonds, guilloché rose gold or mother-of-pearl, each capturing the light for an intense sparkle. As Van Cleef believes in using only stones that are meet the highest quality criteria, the diamonds utilised are at D to F for colour and IF to VVS for clarity. Expert gemologists also undergo a strict selection for the mother-of-pearl.

Each watch comes with an interchangeable alligator strap, and a second strap from the collection can be chosen. However, customers can also opt for a jewellery bracelet instead. Composed of articulated golden beads, this bracelet will, without a doubt, make heads turn. It is also comfortable to wear, since it follows the wrist’s movement, in true attention to detail.

Besides these five timepieces, VCA also released six ‘jewellery secret’ watches. These creations gained inspiration from the 17th-century pocket watches by using curved and colourful pendants. Worn as a necklace, one can simply check the time by rotating the bejewelled motif.

Three of these ‘jewellery secret’ watches are lined with signature beads that complement the intense shades of each gemstone. For instance, the rubies are complemented with rose gold, whereas the other models with sapphires and emeralds are paired with yellow gold.

For the last three pieces, three rare materials appear in the Perlée collection, taking the form of cabochons. Here the blue-grey to light-blue shades are chalcedony. The precious gem is paired with white gold to enhance its raw, beautiful blue colour. There’s also the first-ever use of pastel rose quartz in this collection, accented with rose gold. The last timepiece showcases a gorgeous dark violet-tinged blue sodalite set in yellow gold. As mentioned, each stone utilised for Van Cleef & Arpels products is chosen for its quality and iridescence, thereby undergoing a strict selection process.

You could be jailed for up to 3 years for owning a Swatch ‘Pride’ watch in Malaysia https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/malaysian-government-bans-the-sale-and-possession-of-swatch-pride-rainbow-watches/ Thu, 10 Aug 2023 11:00:09 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1888050

Swiss watchmaker Swatch has had a longstanding association with the fashion set for their distinctive watch designs that take cues from all corners of pop culture. However, the brand has recently courted controversy in Malaysia with the release of its ‘Pride’ collection of timepieces.

The launch of the collection back in May of this year eventually led to a highly publicised seizure of the watchmaker’s rainbow watch inventory, with raids being carried out across a number of the brand’s local outlets at the behest of the Home Affairs Ministry. A total of 172 watches worth MYR 64,795 (approx. THB 497,110) were confiscated over a period of two days from 16 stores.

Debuting in a series of six watches featuring a different monochrome colour each, the ‘Pride’ range was meant to represent the colours imbued in the Pride flag, which has become emblematic of the LGBTQIA community, while also serving as a celebration of ‘all love’ according to the brand’s official webpage.

Swatch ‘Pride’ rainbow watches leads to controversy in Malaysia

In response to the seizure of their watches, representatives from the Swiss-based watch brand have condemned the Malaysian government’s response, with Swatch Chief Executive Officer Nick Hayek saying, “We strongly contest that our collection of watches using rainbow colours and having a message of peace and love could be harmful for whomever,”.

He stressed that the sale of the watches was not meant to be a political gesture, and further questioned if the Malaysian government would go so far as to “confiscate the many beautiful natural rainbows that are showing up thousand times a year in the sky of Malaysia”, given the circumstances.

This later led to Swatch filing a lawsuit with the Kuala Lumpur High Court over what they claim to be the illegal confiscation of their products, arguing that the watches that were seized did not contain elements of LGBTQ lettering.

Sale & possession of watches now banned

With that said, it appears that the Malaysian government’s position on the matter remains relatively unchanged. This comes after a Federal Gazette issued by the Malaysian Attorney General’s Chambers dated today (10 August, 2023) has banned the printing, production, importation, reproduction, publishing, sale, issue, circulation, distribution, and even possession, of any materials pertinent to the Swatch ‘Pride’ watches or the watches themselves under the Printing Presses and Publications (Prohibition of Undesirable Publications) Order 2023.

Those found guilty to be in possession of the watches produced by Swatch may be liable of facing jail time amounting to three years, a maximum fine amount of MYR 20,000 (approx. THB 154,129), or both upon conviction.

In a statement released by the Malaysian government on the matter, the ban on the Swatch ‘Pride’ watches has been attributed to the Home Ministry’s continued commitment to curb the dissemination of ‘elements, teachings, and movements’ that contradict the nation’s socio-cultural structure.

“(The Swatch products) have been banned as they are detrimental, or possibly detrimental, to morality, public interest and national interest by promoting, supporting and normalising the LGBTQ movement, which is not accepted by the general public of Malaysia.” they added.

Priced at MYR 365 each (approx. THB 2,812), the watches still remain available for purchase on the official Swatch website.

In Thailand, the Swatch ‘Pride’ collection is available, and the watches are priced at THB 3000 each.

For Bell & Ross’ third year of collaboration with Alpine and the 2023 season, the luxury watchmaker unveiled their latest watch, the BR 05 Chrono “A523.”

Founded in 1992, French watchmaker Bell & Ross, has been breaking boundaries with their expertise in horology. As their philosophy is style and performance, the brand’s latest collaboration with Alpine showcases something special. “For the first time, Bell & Ross presents a BR 05 in the colours of F1 and our partner team Alpine, complementing our existing models. The choice of chrono movement meets the needs of Team Alpine, who are, of course, measuring speed and sports performance,” says Bruno Belamich, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Bell & Ross.

The BR 05 Chrono A523

The A523 timepiece features a 42mm rounded square stainless steel case decorated with the French flag. Inspired by Alpine’s 2023 vehicle, the luxury timepiece boasts the F1 team’s signature blue. Alpine’s renowned “A” logo is also on the counterweight to the chronograph hand. As speed and performance is essential for the Alpine team, the watch is powered by the self-winding mechanical BR-CAL.326 calibre. There’s also a satin-polished steel finish that creates a stunning light reflection. The Bell & Ross A523 is 100 metres water-resistant, with the straps available in two choices: a steel bracelet or black leather with blue trim.

For those interested in the limited edition BR 05 Chrono A523, there are only 500 pieces available, making it a desirable collector’s item. However, with the talented drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon currently wearing them engraved with their names and number, we can assume that there are only 498 items left.

TUDOR introduces the unique Prince Chronograph One Prototype https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/tudor-introduces-prince-chronograph-one-prototype/ Tue, 11 Jul 2023 05:31:15 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1882633

“A TUDOR watch is born to dare,” and that is precisely what this luxury watch company is doing. For Only Watch 2023, TUDOR introduces the unique Prince Chronograph One Prototype, surprising us once again with its innovation.

Breaking the rules for this year’s Only Watch charity auction, TUDOR returns its legendary chronograph from the 70s. In 1976, TUDOR introduced its first automatic chronograph, the “Big Block.” During that time, the Swiss watchmaker added a self-winding rotor to the chronograph movement, which led to additional thickness. To accommodate the extra depth, the brand created a thicker middle case causing it to be blocky. Hence, the name the “Big Block.” However, the item was sadly discontinued in the early 90s — until now.

The Prince Chronograph One

The iconic Big Block Chronograph is coming back with a new look, reincarnated as the Prince Chronograph One. This unique watch features an 18-carat solid yellow gold interpretation of the TUDOR classic chronograph. Besides the eye-catching yellow-gold case, this timepiece also comes with a matching bracelet. But that’s not all. Through the Prince Chronograph One, TUDOR is debuting its first-ever in-house prototype chronograph movement, the MT59XX. This big innovative leap will be TUDOR’s first and only timepiece sold with a yet-to-be-released prototype movement. Despite being a prototype, the MT59XX meets all TUDOR Manufacture Calibre performance standards, featuring column-wheel construction.

The Prince Chronograph One is an intriguing debut, marking an important moment in TUDOR’s history. With the brand now capable of producing its own cutting-edge Calibres, this unique watch foreshadows many new exciting things to come.

aespa fronts luxury watch’s new campaign as the faces of Chopard https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/aespa-the-new-face-of-chopard-rocks-the-ice-cube-collection-and-alpine-eagle-watches/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 06:12:49 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1881639

The girls of the wildly popular K-pop group aespa personify the brand’s key collections for an exciting new campaign launched by Chopard this summer.

Celebrating youth, energy and creativity, Chopard’s current jewellery portfolio features the best and brightest. And what better way to capture that spirit than by teaming up with the highly popular K-pop girl group aespa? Having crossed the 1 million mark in the first week of their MY WORLD album release — the second K-pop girl group to do so after BLACKPINK — aespa’s success certainly speaks for itself. With the sheer talent and joie de vivre exuded by Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning, the girl group caught the Maison’s eye and will thus personify Chopard’s key collections for the summer, which also includes the Ice Cube and Alpine Eagle.

[Hero and featured image credit: aespa/Instagram]

aespa fronts Chopard’s new campaign

Just like Chopard, aespa is all about being innovative. The K-pop group’s name itself is derived from a clever combination of ‘aspect’ and ‘Avatar X Experience’, driven by the theme of “experiencing a new world via the encounter of the ‘avatar’, your other self”. After topping the charts with hit singles “Black Mamba”, “Next Level”, “Savage” and their recently released “Girls”, aespa also took the main stage at Coachella in 2022. Charming and multifaceted, the fabulous four have redefined pop music on both a local and global scale. And encapsulated in Chopard’s inspiring new campaign for the summer, the group’s star power and ‘aenergy’ are a perfect match for the brand in expressing their shared values.

Breaking tradition with Chopard’s Ice Cube and Alpine Eagle

On top of their record-breaking music, aespa is also known for their ability to rock even the quirkiest of outfits. Synonymous with contemporary jewellery, Chopard’s Ice Cube collection stands out for the minimalism and simplicity of its design. Comprising pared-down and deliberately androgynous graphic and rectangular shapes, the collection challenges traditional jewellery-making conventions — perfect when paired with the girls of aespa and their unique genre.

The new Chopard x aespa campaign sees the K-pop girl group successfully combine Ice Cube with the pure design of Chopard’s Alpine Eagle watch collection — capturing the spirit entirely on their own.

Hublot and Nespresso team up for a vibrant Big Bang Unico timepiece https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/coffee-time-hublot-partners-nespresso-for-a-limited-edition-big-bang-unico/ Sat, 10 Jun 2023 04:00:09 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1878794

The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is a collaboration between Hublot and Nespresso, one that explains the connection between watches and coffee.

If you take a gander across social media, the plethora of images featuring a watch beside a cup of java or styled beside some “casually strewn” coffee beans, tells me that there’s a greater than expected overlap of coffee lovers within the watch community.

As part of its Second Life initiatives over the last seven years, Nespresso has partnered with Hublot, joining forces on the creation of a Big Bang timepiece based on recycling and circularity. Sharing the values of innovation, excellence and sustainability, the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is a result of this partnership, joining the Art of Fusion (developing new materials and composites) and the Art of Coffee (new blends, state-of-the-art dispensing systems).

Hublot Nespresso

This extraordinary collaboration has resulted in a world first: The pioneering spirit of Hublot and Nespresso has transformed spent coffee grounds from capsules into watch straps. The case, bezel, crown and pusher are made of recycled aluminium fused with aluminium capsules.

THE 42-MM CASE OF THE BIG BANG UNICO NESPRESSO ORIGIN IS MADE OF RECYCLED ALUMINUM, 28% OF WHICH ORIGINATES FROM NESPRESSO COFFEE CAPSULES, AND IS ANODIZED IN BRILLIANT GREEN BEFORE BEING SATIN FINISHED AND POLISHED.

Nespressoʼs trademark “N” inscribed on the crown, as well as its iconic colour ‒ a tribute to the Master Origins Peru Organic capsule ‒ signalled the launch. The density of the two materials is precisely mixed to assure the product’s durability. The 42 mm case of the Unico Nespresso Origin is made of recycled aluminium, 28% of which originates from Nespresso coffee capsules, and is anodised in brilliant green before being satin finished and polished.

The crown and pusher are treated in the same way. The case’s bottom and the container’s lid are both composed of EcoTitanium (recycled titanium). The rubber strapʼs titanium deployant buckle, with its ornamental recycled aluminium cap, and the Velcro strapʼs sport buckle are both anodised green.

Pop Of Colours

During the period of Watches & Wonders, Nespresso launched Vertuo Pop, its most compact and colourful coffee machine. From classic Liquorice Black to vibrant and playful Spicy Red, Mango Yellow or Aqua Mint, four new colourways give coffee lovers the freedom to personalise and add a style statement to their space.

Each set of Vertuo capsules is colourcoded for easy recognition and organisation. If Decaf is your thing, look for the red capsules. If you require caffeine in your coffee, choose blue for Intenso, green for Lingo, gold for Vanilla, brown for Cremoso and black for Ristretto.

With over 30 different coffee capsules in the Vertuo coffee range, Nespresso offers pure single origin coffees and exceptional blends specially developed to suit every taste preference. This means there is tremendous opportunity for a kaleidoscope of colours for future Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin timepieces.

Fusion Of Loves: Each, Coffee, Watches

It took Hublot a whole year of R&D, working closely with Nespresso, to finally achieve the perfect harmony of colours between seven different materials that make up the watch, from its case to its straps (anodised aluminium, the varnish on the dial and hands, the Hublot logo decal on the glass, the rubber of the strap, and the fabric, lining and hook and loop tape of the Velcro strap) and to ensure that this uniformity of colour would stand the test of time.

In another first for sustainability, created entirely from oak, the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Originʼs Hublot Greenbox case including its hinges, is carved from mostly traceable wood developed by the Nyon manufacturer; the case will be used for all its watch collections in the future.

What to know before buying a pre-owned certified Rolex watch https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/how-buy-a-certified-pre-owned-rolex-watch/ Mon, 08 May 2023 07:00:21 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1874880

Watch connoisseurs of the world are in for a treat as the premium luxury watchmaker Rolex is taking the certified pre-owned watch programme beyond Europe.

The service, in which authorised dealers and distributors provide a two-year international guarantee for pre-owned Rolex watches, rolled out in the United States on 3 May.

The programme was initially implemented at Bucherer boutiques in six countries — Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Here is everything you need to know about Rolex prices and programme details for all the certified pre-owned watches available at the authorised dealer outlets.

What is a certified pre-owned Rolex watch?

certified pre-owned rolex

The luxury watchmaker came up with this programme in 2022 to authenticate the resale of its old watches. Needless to say, the company ensures that all the pre-owned watches are in top condition and scrutinised by experts before attesting them with an authenticity certificate. In a statement, Rolex revealed the reason behind this initiative is “to bring added value to the existing supply of pre-owned Rolex watches.” Rolex prices for the pre-owned watches will be determined after the company preserves, maintains and guarantees their quality.

A certified pre-owned Rolex watch is an authenticated timepiece that is at least three years old and possesses a certification of guarantee issued on the date of its resale from Bucherer. The quality assurance is valid for the next two years.

Pre-owned Rolex watches: What is the two-year international guarantee?

As per the company website, the two-year international guarantee entails a Rolex Certified Pre-Owned guarantee card, which officially confirms that the watch is genuine. It attests to the timepiece’s proper functioning for a period of two years from the date of purchase.

Where can you buy pre-owned Rolex watches?

One must remember that only Official Rolex Retailers are authorised to sell and care for Rolex watches. Since the luxury timepieces — known for their excellent craftsmanship — are meant to last years, it is imperative that they are cared for and authenticated well.

To ensure the piece is authentic, one must take a close look at the package, which is distinct and comes with a Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watch in a pouch. Each box contains a Rolex Certified Pre-Owned seal, a two-year international guarantee card, a service booklet and a guarantee booklet.

Bucherer stores around the world currently are selling pre-owned Rolex watches from their Rolex Air-King, Rolex Cellini, Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Rolex Pearlmaster and over 13 more collections. One can locate the outlets in their region here.

Fossil’s new Star Wars collection is here, just in time for Star Wars Day https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/fossil-launches-new-star-wars-watch-collection-just-in-time-for-may-the-4th/ Tue, 02 May 2023 09:44:32 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1874375

With Star Wars Day just around the corner, Fossil has unveiled its new collection inspired by the galaxy far, far away.

May the 4th is upon us and with that, fans around the world will gather to pay homage to the most successful sci-fi franchise. We’re talking about Star Wars of course and Fossil is also joining in on the fun with a new watch collection dedicated to the series.

However, what makes this new release extra special is the brand is also coinciding its latest release in honour of the 40 year anniversary of Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi. Exceptionally crafted down to the very last detail, the Star Wars x Fossil collection is a capsule of watches and jewellery that pays homage to the iconic characters and symbols of the Rebellion.

Fossil Star Wars

To entice fans, Fossil has released six limited-edition timepieces meticulously designed in celebration of the film’s most beloved Rebels. Each individually-numbered watch arrives in a collector’s box—showcasing cinematic sound effects, comic-book-style illustrations, and a replica movie ticket pin—and features quintessential character details.

Time For Star Wars

Fossil Star Wars R2D2

The Star Wars x Fossil collection features watches that pay homage to characters such as Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Retailing from SGD479 to SGD629, each timepiece also boasts design elements dedicated each character.

For instance, the battle between the light and dark sides of the Force plays out on the dial of the Luke Skywalker piece. It also features Luke’s glowing green lume Lightsaber as the second hand and invisible blue lume Force lightning that glows in the dark.

Leia Organa’s model features an innovative time-telling mechanism, which is inspired by the character’s iconic Endor look. The watch boasts an invisible lume Rebellion sign that glows in the dark. A padded leather strap recalls her helmet with an etched braid found on the caseback .

Both the Han Solo and Chewbacca models arrive with motifs dedicated to each respective character.  The former is presented in a redesigned Fossil Heritage watch attached to a rich leather saddle strap with golden yellow pant stripe detail and matching dial accents. Chewbacca’s offers a debossed fur texture on the dial and rivet details on the strap, a throwback to the character’s signature bandolier.

Lenny Kravitz is global brand ambassador for Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre, the renowned watch manufacturer, has recently named Lenny Kravitz as its newest global brand ambassador, a move that promises to strengthen the brand’s positioning in the luxury watch market.

Kravitz, a prolific and highly respected artist, is known for his outstanding contributions to the music industry, as well as his work as an actor, designer, and photographer. If you think the list ends there, you’re wrong. To add on, he has been a watch enthusiast from an early age, and his passion for watches led him to appreciate the high level of craftsmanship, design, and function in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watches — a man who truly has no limits.

As a brand ambassador, Kravitz will help promote and expand the reach of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s products, while also bringing his unique style and artistic vision to the brand. His innate sense of style, which has been recognised by the Council of Fashion Designer of America (CFDA) with its ‘Fashion Icon’ award, is a perfect match for the brand’s values and style.

Out of all the many iconic timepieces from Jaeger-LeCoultre, he is particularly fond of the Reverso watch, which he wore to the 2023 Oscars ceremony, further demonstrating his affinity for the brand.

Kravitz’s work in all of his creative endeavors, including music, design, and photography, is driven by a spirit of curiosity and constant exploration, much like Jaeger-LeCoultre’s approach to watchmaking. He blends myriad influences and inspirations with innovative ideas, resulting in fresh and exciting creations that are distinctly his own. This approach is perfectly aligned with the Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer’s philosophy of blending tradition and innovation to create timeless pieces that are both functional and stylish.

It has been said that Kravitz recently completed a new campaign for Jaeger-LeCoultre, which is set to be released in May. The campaign was filmed with fellow global brand ambassador, Anya Taylor-Joy, and promises to showcase the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, design, and function, whilst also highlighting Kravitz’s unique style and artistic vision.

With Kravitz’s unique style and artistic vision at the core of this appointment, we look forward to seeing the exciting new take from this one creative mind to another through this partnership.

Ryan Gosling stars in the new TAG Heuer short film https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/tag-heuer-celebrates-60th-anniversary-with-a-short-film-starring-ryan-gosling/ Mon, 24 Apr 2023 09:39:13 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873513

In celebration of TAG Heuer’s Carrera’s 60th anniversary, Ryan Gosling has starred in a special short film.

Take a world class action director, a Hollywood leading man and an iconic timepiece and you have ‘The Chase for Carrera’ a Hollywood-esque action-comedy to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic TAG Heuer Carrera. That’s essentially what TAG Heuer has done – roped in the talents of director David Leitch and actor, Ryan Gosling for a short film that salutes the Carrera’s storied racing heritage.

More than just a great piece of marketing, the new TAG Heuer short film is unprecedented in scale whilst also encapsulating the TAG Heuer motto, “Don’t crack under pressure”. In the new short film, brand ambassador Gosling goes on the run from the Prop Master, played by Vanessa Bayer.

The Chase largely revolves around Gosling attempting to get away from Bayer as she attempts to take his beloved TAG Heuer Carrera off his wrist. This isn’t the first time Gosling and TAG Heuer have appeared on film together. Last year, Gosling and his trusty TAG Heuer Carrera three hands, featured in the hit Netflix actioner The Gray Man.

Lights, Camera, Action

TAG Heuer Ryan Gosling Short Film

‘The Chase for Carrera’ is produced by David Leitch’s 87 North, who is behind some of the most iconic action films of the last decade, from John Wick to Deadpool 2 to last year’s Bullet Train. Nash Edgerton (Mr Inbetween) directed the TAG Heuer short film, which was filmed during production of The Fall Guy, an upcoming action film directed by Leitch and starring Gosling, which is currently being filmed in Australia.

Both Gosling and Leitch contributed to The Chase for Carrera’s creative and the result is pure box-office. In this new short lensed by Edgerton, Gosling and Bayer battle it out in high-octane style, as everything from iconic sports cars to heavy-duty trucks to electric production buggies are raced through various movie sets in a spectacle of blockbuster proportions. In a knowing nod to its film-within-a-film set-up, Leitch plays himself as the on-screen director.

The new film is a fitting celebration of an iconic timepiece that was born of the racetrack when it was first created in 1963 by TAG Heuer’s legendary former CEO Jack Heuer. Named after the notoriously dangerous Carrera Panamericana race, it was designed with readability and simplicity in mind, vital for drivers navigating high-speed bends. The result was an icon – elegant and uncluttered, sporty and daring – that spoke to Heuer’s love of mid-century design yet remains timeless six decades on.

Spirit Of Carrera

This world-first action extravaganza is a perfect way to celebrate the 60th year of an iconic timepiece. The film even comes with its own Hollywood posters and timeless taglines. Throughout the short film there are also homages are paid to the TAG Heuer Carrera’s rich history including some iconic models.

The iteration of the Carrera that Gosling is desperate to keep hold of is the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. Topped with a “glassbox”, a sapphire crystal dome that flows seamlessly over the tachymeter scale that runs around the dial edge and into the case, it comes in a stunning signature blue dial on a blue calfskin leather strap.

Bayer’s Prop Master is seen wearing the new TAG Heuer Carrera 36mm in pink. Incidentally, ‘The Chase for Carrera’ will not be Gosling’s final act with the timepiece. Gosling and his Carrera will also be seen co-starring in director Leitch’s next major feature, The Fall Guy, which is due out next year.

In ‘The Chase for Carrera’, the TAG Heuer brand ambassador is seen wearing the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph with signature blue dial. When The Fall Guy hits theatres, the world will see the actor don a sportier black and silver “reverse panda” dial of the same edition. This represents another world-first for a luxury brand; with a leading actor of Gosling’s calibre continuing to wear different iterations of TAG Heuer Carreras in multiple iconic Hollywood roles.

How to customise your MoonSwatch: Colours, straps, and more https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/how-to-customise-your-moonswatch-colours-straps-and-more/ Sun, 23 Apr 2023 10:00:02 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873367 how to customise moonswatch

So you finally got your hands on the coveted OMEGA x Swatch MoonSwatch. Congratulations! You either paid a lot of money on the secondhand market or you waited really long in line. Perhaps, you even flew abroad to much easier get your hands on this precious timepiece. No matter how you got there, we aren’t here to judge. We’re here to help. Customising your MoonSwatch is just about the hottest thing you can do since actually acquiring your MoonSwatch. Here’s how.

There’s nothing quite like adding your own personal touch to a timepiece. Maybe you pair your watch with a cute beaded bracelet to off-set your serious office look, or maybe you added a few diamonds to the dial to up the glam for your next evening gala. Customisation is the cherry on top of owning a watch, and the cherry becomes even sweeter when it comes to a highly coveted timepiece.

Of course, the MoonSwatch isn’t your regular highly coveted timepiece. Launched last year, it is not a limited edition series, though it is sold only in limited amounts in select stores during certain periods. It was birthed through the collaboration of two of watchmaking’s greatest, OMEGA and Swatch, who both normally play in very different fields of casual and luxury watchmaking.

Nevertheless, the collaboration was an instant hit. Even in Bangkok, queues outside Central World went around the block, as everyone wanted a piece of the space-inspired MoonSwatch. 11 unique watches make up the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, with a special ‘Mission to Moonshine Gold’ edition launched in just a few countries. Designed to “reach for the planets” and inspired by various “missions” to the sun, the moon, and all of the planets in the solar system, it is a colourful collection that ranges from bright blues, yellows, and pinks, over to the very popular blacks, browns, and grey colour ways.

Yet selecting your chosen edition and bringing it home is only where the fun begins. Read on for how to give your MoonSwatch that extra pizzaz through customisation of straps and an interplay of colours, materials, and more.

How to customise your MoonSwatch like a pro

It starts with colour

The first step to finding the right MoonSwatch for your fit is working with colour. The MoonSwatch collection offers plenty of room to play, as it is already available in 11 different colour ways. This is where you need to ask yourself the big questions: Will you accessorise with contrasting or complementary colours? Do you want to play it safe or surf along the edge of madness? Will you go for monotone or pattern prints?

Play it safe with monotone

Experimenting with colour can add a fresh mood and tone to your timepiece. One of the most popular editions is the black ‘Mission to the Moon’ MoonSwatch, which is often customised with a suave black strap. This adds an elevated aura to the watch, compared to its original velcro strap, which can feel a little bulky.

In fact, taking the colour of the dial and applying it to the strap is a popular way to incorporate a sense of unity in your customisation. If you want to take things a little further, use the same tone as the chronograph display, as seen on the beautiful ‘Mission to Pluto’ MoonSwatch customisation below. The Bordeaux red chronograph is paired with a hatch grain Bordeaux red strap for a very chic new feel.

Get creative with contrast

Use the colour wheel to your advantage and experiment with colour blocking, and using contrasting colours for a bit of fun. The model below is the ‘Mission to Venus,’ which has been customised with a green fabric strap for a bold contrast and a youthful interplay with the pastel pink of the original case.

Dabble in prints

Perhaps you’re not quite ready to make a contrasting colour leap, or perhaps you want to get wacky with the leap you’ve already made. If you really dare, go for colourful prints or patterns on your strap and really stand out from the crowd. The ‘Mission to Uranus’ below is complemented by a rubber blue cameo strap for a touch of personality that seems to go well with pancakes.

If loud prints aren’t your thing, you can still get away with a touch of colour through subtle stripes. Below, the ‘Mission to Uranus’ MoonSwatch is customised with a fabric strap and a touch of bright orange. Simple, yet so effective, and wildly different in personality to the one above. See how fun this is?

Fabric, rubber, or leather?

Beyond the details in the dial, it is often the strap that provides the tell-tale for what kind of watch you’re wearing, or what kind of wearer the watch inhabits. Rubber straps are commonly used for dive watches, whilst leather straps are most commonly used for dress watches. Fabric falls into a fashionable in-between.

The MoonSwatch boasts a relatively large case with a 42mm diameter, making it easy to pair with any of these materials. Whilst the original velcro strap is sporty, it does feel a bit stiff, and wearers often change the strap for both comfort and customisation for a more balanced wrist look and feel.

Fabric doesn’t mean you’re soft

Fabric straps are extremely versatile, as there are so many fabrics to choose from, and so many ways the fabric can be manipulated. The ‘Mission to Mercury’ edition above is contrasted by a light brown/green leather strap, and conveys a sense of adventure.

Rubber rules

Normally, only James Bond wears a dive watch with a suit, so rubber straps for everyday use are best reserved for secret agents. However, in the case of the MoonSwatch, rubber straps seem to be the most popular.

Again, there is plenty of versatility with rubber, and it is the most fun material for experimenting with colour. The above ‘Mission to the Moon’ immediately stands out on the wrist with its daring red rubber strap, adding plenty of drama to your look.

There are also so many different types of rubber. Perlon, a type of nylon, is a beautiful way to incorporate rubber in a lesser obvious way. Below, the ‘Mission to the Sun’ edition catches a few extra rays with a strap suited to everyday wear.

Leather for the long run

Leather is applauded for its durability, and also for being one of the most classic types of watch straps. There is something extremely timeless about a leather strap, and something extremely nostalgic, too. Whilst it is more difficult to care for than rubber, adding a leather strap to your MoonSwatch will give it an air of sophistication.

The ‘Mission to Earth’ below sees a turquoise gaucho strap that beautifully complements the dark dial of the timepiece for a handsome look and feel.

Again, don’t be afraid to experiment with the different kinds of leather. If you want to keep things classic in colour, you can still play around with texture. Below, the ‘Mission to Jupiter’ boasts an ecru croco strap for a sense of jungle mystery — that still very much works in the city.

Where to shop MoonSwatch straps

There are many international online stores where you can order watch straps for your MoonSwatch.

Horus Watch Straps has an entire dedicated page to MoonSwatch straps, available in a huge range of colours (and patterns!), all in rubber. Meanwhile, Delugs also includes leather options, and suggested colour pairings for the uninitiated. Several of the examples featured in this piece hail from Jakarta-based Etsy store, Seventh Creation. The biggest variety of straps come from Australia-based Strapify, with over 800 straps to choose from, and a huge selection of materials.

If you’re looking to keep it local, Bangkok offers plenty of watch straps in the leather department. Just check in with your local leather dealer, and be sure to opt for a 20mm strap width for the best pairing.

Keep an eye out on MoonSwatch updates on the Swatch website.

What does Mission to Moonshine Gold look like?

The original collection featured 11 different Bioceramic MoonSwatch watches. Mission to Moonshine Gold is the 12th piece in the collection.

The watch is based on Mission to the Moon from the original collection but comes with a seconds hand coated with Omega Moonshine gold made from recycled gold from Swatch Group’s certified refinery.

The Mission to the Moon watch, on the other hand, is designed like Omega’s original Moonwatch. It has a steel grey appearance, with white hands and a tachymeter scale.

The 11 watches in the original Omega X Swatch MoonSwatch collection are based on the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. Each of them is named after a “mission” to a celestial body in our solar system.

The highlights from Watches & Wonders 2023 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/watches-and-wonders-2023-highlights/ Wed, 05 Apr 2023 04:19:09 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1871364

If you weren’t able to book a ticket to Switzerland, here’s a rundown of what happened at Watches & Wonders 2023.

Watches & Wonders 2023 kicked off on March 27 in Geneva with a dazzling showcase of timepieces from 48 of the world’s most prestigious brands. The annual watch fair is held at the Palexpo and will end April 2. Read on for all the biggest highlights of the event and bookmark this page, as we will be updating it frequently.

While last year’s Watches & Wonders event was particularly buzz-worthy as it marked its return after a two-year hiatus, the 2023 presentation looks set to be equally exciting with 13 new brands coming onboard. These are: Alpina, Beauregard, Bell & Ross, Charles Zuber, Charriol, Chronoswiss, Frederique Constant, Grönefeld, Hautlence, Hysek, Kerbedanz, Pequignet, and U-Boat. With the exception of Armin Strom and H. Moser & Cie, timepiece enthusiasts can expect to see the other watchmakers from the 2022 edition, which include Baume & Mercier, Chanel, Chopard and Van Cleef & Arpels.

A post shared by Chopard Official (@chopard)

Chopard celebrated the opening of Watches & Wonders in Geneva on Monday, March 27, by inviting its Brand Ambassador Julia Roberts to attend, causing quite a stir. The Hollywood actress also stars in the new ‘Chopard Loves Cinema’ campaign – directed by James Gray – that launched on March 20.

The Maison’s booth at the fair is entirely decked out in the theme of this campaign, featuring the new films and visuals of Julia Roberts wearing Chopard jewellery and watches. The brand’s Co-Presidents, Caroline and Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, also announced a new milestone in the ‘Journey to Sustainable Luxury’ – a long-term programme that Chopard has been committed to to promote social and environmental criteria. A key element of this initiative is using 100 percent ethical gold for the production of its watches and jewellery since 2018.

Other things to expect at this year’s Watches & Wonders

What’s particularly interesting about this year’s edition of the horological extravaganza — which has traditionally been a by-invite-only affair for journalists, watch collectors and industry personnel — is that it’ll open its doors to the public for the first time on April 1 and 2. If you happen to be in the city during then, do book your tickets here. Also on the agenda are guided tours around the various booths, talks on watchmaking topics and trends, and an exhibition by Swiss photographer Karine Bauzin centred on the concept of our relationship with time. A full schedule can be found here.

The show organisers have also rolled out a side event titled “In the City”, that’s held around Geneva and comprises various activities spanning free tours of the Patek Philippe Museum, animated presentations in the boutiques of watchmakers such as A. Lange & Söhne, Hublot and Jaeger-LeCoultre, and dance and music performances.

With Watches and Wonders 2023 now in full swing, here are all the major timepiece launches and highlights you need to know about.

Watches and Wonders 2023: Key highlights and timepieces

A. Lange & Söhne gets its first self-winding chronograph

A. Lange & Söhne introduces the Odysseus Chronograph, its first-ever self-winding chronograph movement. The watch, which is limited to 100 pieces, comprises a sleek black dial with a red chrono seconds hand enclosed within a 42mm stainless-steel case. Like the brand’s previous Odysseus timepieces, it has matte surfaces and chamfered edges. The watch also comes with an innovative function that resets the chronograph hands to zero, and is driven by a L156.1 DATOMATIC calibre.

Bell & Ross goes for green with the BR05 Green Gold

watches & wonders 2023 highlights - bell & ross
BR05 Green Gold

Bell & Ross gets verdant with the new BR 05 Green Gold, whose design is inspired by the iconic BR 03, and has a gorgeous green dial that seems to change shade — from fluorescent to a rich bottle green — depending on the lighting. The watch has an integrated gold case and bracelet, and on its caseback is a gold oscillating weight. More about the timepiece and Bell & Ross’ other releases here.

Cartier reinvents the classics

Over at Cartier, classic icons such as the Tank, Baignoire and Panthère get fresh new reinterpretations and additions. The signature Tank for instance, now comes in a new iteration called the Tank Normale, an hour/minute timepiece with a skeletonised movement and a 24-hour complication. It’s available in yellow gold or platinum and is limited to 50 numbered watches, as well as a bejewelled rendition festooned with brilliant-cut diamonds that’s limited to only 20 numbered pieces.

Meanwhile, the Baignoire watch boasts a refreshed oval dial, new proportions and Roman numerals complemented with a gold ribbon. As for the La Panthère De Cartier, it’s an exquisite jewellery watch that comes in yellow or rose gold. It’s decorated with black lacquer details and tsavorite eyes, or in diamond-paved white gold with eyes of emerald. The watch is equipped with a sleek magnetic system with no visible hinges.

Grand Seiko makes waves with 3 show-stopping releases

grand seiko tentagraph watches & wonders 2023
The Tentagraph is Grand Seiko’s first-ever automatic high-beat chronograph.

After a memorable Watches & Wonders debut last year with the Evolution 9 collection of mechanical sports watches, Grand Seiko once again makes a splash in 2023 with the Tentagraph, its first-ever automatic high-beat chronograph. It’s powered by the new Tentagraph Caliber 9SC5 movement with a frequency of 10 beats per second and has a power reserve of three days. The watch features a vertical clutch and column wheel to control the chronograph and ensure accuracy. The dial is adorned with Grand Seiko’s signature “Mt. Iwate pattern”.

Its other launches include the Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Hand-engraved Manual-winding Spring Drive Limited Edition SBZ009. As its name suggests, the Platinum 950 watch is made one by one and meticulously engraved by hand by skilled artisans in Shiojiri in Nagano Prefecture. The town is close to a forest of white birch trees, which lies at the foot of the North Yatsugatake Mountains and serves as the muse for this Grand Seiko watch.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Hand-engraved Manual-winding Spring Drive Limited Edition SBZ009

On the silver-hued timepiece dial and case are textured patterns reminiscent of the majestic trees in winter — each watch is first polished using the Zaratsu technique to achieve a distortion-free reflective surface, before being manually engraved with individual grooves. It’s powered by a manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 9R02 and has a 84-hour power reserve. The watch is produced in a limited run of 50.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8-day Jewelry Watch SBGD213

There’s a jewellery watch too, and it’s ultra exclusive with a limited run of just eight pieces. The Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8-day Jewelry Watch SBGD213 is a glittering masterpiece with a platinum case sheathed in diamonds and sapphires set by hand. Some 112 diamonds are embedded in the case’s upper surfaces, while the bezel is set with 60 baguette-cut diamonds. On the crown is a single brilliant-cut blue sapphire, while the dial features tapered blue sapphires and baguette diamonds as hour and minute markers encircling a centre of mother-of-pearl. If that’s not luxurious enough, an additional 48 diamonds and 12 blue sapphires are festooned around the markers. The timepiece is powered by a manual-winding spring drive Caliber 9R01 with a power reserve of up to 192 hours (or eight days).

All three watches will be released in boutiques in June 2023.

Gucci heralds a new chapter of fine watchmaking

The Italian fashion house has revealed a dazzling line-up of fine timepieces mounted with gemstones and decorated with whimsical motifs the likes of dancing bees, planets and the sky. The G-Timeless Dancing Bees, for example, is a stunning work of art with its moving bee details, which are set atop dial options of green opal or turquoise stone. It’s covered in diamonds, which make their way along the crescent-style tourbillon and around the bezel and crown. Then there’s the G-Timeless Planetarium, which the epitome of extravagance with its array of gemstones on the dial. Four permutations are available, but our favourite has got to be the pink gold variation (pictured) that comes with a brown strap, and is set with rubies, fire opals, pink tourmaline, and mandarin garnet.

Hermès H08, Arceau Petite Lune and Slim Hermès Cheval de Légende

The sporty Hermès H08 collection gets two new models this year. First up, the H08 gets a fresh look with bold new colour variations of green (CEO Laurent Dorset’s favourite colour), blue, orange and yellow that inject a bit of fun and technology to the sporty-chic line. The hues are accented on the woven rubber strap, the markers and hands and even on the watch glass seal. But what’s most interesting is the introduction of a new composite material to the cushion-shaped watch case: 56 layers of braided and aluminised glass fibre are compressed together to form the sturdy but light case. Slate powder is also added to create a reflective, silvery effect that accentuates the black ceramic bezel and crown. Its concrete-grey dial comes with black hands and luminescent applied Arabic numerals.

The other new model, the Hermès Chronograph, is an eye-catching orange watch fashioned from multi-layered composite and features a cushion-shaped case made of carbon fibre and graphene powder. It has a satin-finished and polished titanium bezel, and a black PVD-coated crown with an orange-rimmed monopusher at 3 o’clock. Consecutive presses of this button activates the chronograph’s start, stop and reset functions. According to the maison, it chose to incorporate a monopusher function to streamline the design and make the overall aesthetic of the watch less bulky. The black-gold-treated and blackened dial is embellished with rhodium-plated applied Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova, and touches of orange.

Another highlight is the Arceau Petite Lune. Imagining the moon with two mysterious planets on an aventurine dial with diamond stars. The moon is in mother-of-pearl. The larger planet is made of aragonite and the smaller planet is in opal. The aventurine dial is done over mother-of-pearl also to add textural interest on the dial.

Also noteworthy is the Slim Hermès Cheval de Légende, which is based on the 2010 scarf by the same name created by artist Benoit Pierre Emery. To recreate the art on the dial, artisans had to drill tiny holes into the white enamel dial, then fill the cavities with 1,678 golden beads before firing the piece in an oven to set the beads into the enamel. It’s a limited edition of 24 pieces. There’s also a blue version, where instead of gold beads, the dial is set with 1,678 blue enamel beads.

IWC’s Ingénieur Automatic 40 recalls a ’70s Gerald Genta design

The IWC Ingénieur Automatic 40 brings back the original Gerald Genta design from 1976, with a few modern tweaks, most notably on the bezel where the five screws are now aligned and symmetrical. It comes in steel and titanium options, with the titanium being around 40 percent lighter in weight. Because the case design and bracelet are re-engineered, the watch sits very comfortably on the wrist. The steel models come with variations of black, aqua and silver-plated dials (see video below), while the titanium one has a grey one.

The watches are equipped with the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre and a 120-hour power reserve. They are water-resistant up to 100 metres, and have soft-iron inner cases that protect their movements from magnetic fields.

Jaeger-LeCoultre rolls out new Reverso masterpieces

Jaeger-LeCoultre focuses on its Reverso watches this year. Its Reverso Tribute collection gets three new models this year. The timelessly elegant Reverso Tribute Chronograph is a nod to the iconic 1996 Reverso Chronograph and houses a new Calibre 860. It has a skeletonised dial that showcases the chronograph and movement within. Another new launch is the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon, which boasts two dials with completely different looks. One is sleek and elegant with Dauphine hands and a flying tourbillon against a silver dial, while its reverse side is partially skeletonised and displays a second time zone and day-night indicator.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has also created four new renditions of the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds, which come with sunray-brushed dials in colourways of black, burgundy lacquer, and silver, ensconced within a redesigned pink gold case.

Other highlights include the Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179, which merges the technical finesse of the Maison’s signature multi-axis tourbillon to excellent craftsmanship. It comprises a double-sided, Duoface movement with glowing dark blue lacquered dials housed within a pink gold case. The watch naturally requires a larger case to accommodate its staggering 382 components, including a Gyrotourbillon, but its lugs have been specially reconfigured to make it wearable and comfortable.

On the jewellery watch front, the manufacture doesn’t disappoint either. The Reverso One Precious Colours bears testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s expertise in decorative crafts and jewellery techniques. Its Art Deco-styled, white mother-of-pearl dial is decorated with gold brackets in its corners, and features applied numerals and Dauphine hands. It’s surrounded by an enamelled frame and diamond-set gadroons and lugs. When the case is turned over, its reverse side can easily double up as a bracelet with its eye-catching display of miniature-painted grand feu enamel patterns. These come in two permutations of blue with black on a pink gold background (which is paired with a blue alligator strap), or in green on a white gold background (which is paired with a green alligator strap). Both are sprinkled with diamond accents for an additional touch of extravagance.

Reverso Secret Necklace

Another key item is the Reverso Secret Necklace, an opulent Art Deco-inspired sautoir comprising a delicate chain of diamond-set links and polished onyx beads that culminate in a suspended gem-set Reverso. On the back of its pink gold case are geometric details mounted with white diamonds and black onyx. Its convex sides are bedecked with grain-set diamonds, while more white sparklers make their way around the dial and signature brackets at its corners. Boasting over 3,000 diamonds, the Reverso Secret Necklace is the result of 300 hours of hard work for the brand’s artisans. The Reverso Secret Necklace runs on a manually-wound Calibre 846 and has a power reserve of 38 hours.

Montblanc presents the 8000 capsule collection and a glacier grey Iced Sea Automatic Date

Montblanc has introduced the new Montblanc 8000 capsule collection as a tribute to alpinists and the world’s 14 highest peaks. The collection comprises four timepieces specially crafted to function in harsh conditions. They are equipped with a new Zero Oxygen case that intercepts oxygen from causing fogging or oxidation of the components within. Design-wise, the beautiful watches feature dials adorned with shapes and patterns reminiscent of glaciers, ice and rocks, which are created using an old Italian technique dubbed the Sfumato effect, where colours blend gradually into each other. Find out more in our feature here, and view our video below, where the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen The 8000 is pictured first and second.

Another standout release is its 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date in glacier grey — a new colour for this year. It features a grey glacier pattern dial inspired by the ice of the Mer de Glace (Mont-Blanc mountain’s largest glaciers) and has been crafted to give the impression of looking into the depths of a glacier – with all its minerals captured in time for millennia. The 41mm timepiece comes with a stainless steel interchangeable bracelet which can be easily switched for a black rubber strap, and its caseback sports a 3D engraving of an iceberg and a black scuba diver exploring glacial waters.

The brand has also rolled out a limited-edition coffret housing the green and blue variations, which were launched last year. All three watches are decorated with different coloured laser engravings of Mont-Blanc: The grey model depicts Les Grandes Jorasses, the blue edition features the Aiguille du Moine, and the green one displays Les Drus.

Oris gets whimsical with the ProPilot X Kermit edition

Oris ProPilot X Kermit edition

One of the most talked about watches at the fair is undoubtedly the Oris ProPilot x Kermit collaboration edition, which is a fun, special edition of the 39mm ProPilot X Calibre 400. Like the beloved Muppets character, the dial is in an eye-popping bright green. It’s crafted with a titanium case and features a date window at 6 o’clock where a Kermit the Frog emoji will appear on the first of every month.

Panerai expands its Radiomir range

Over at Panerai, the brand’s first annual calendar complication comes to life in the new Radiomir Annual Calendar, which features a dial that displays the day and date through two openings. An external moving disc indicates the current month, and changes this information instantly every month (regardless of whether it’s 30 or 31 days) due to a cam in the movement. There’s also a corrector on the left side of the case that enables the day to be altered if needed.

The watch runs on the automatic P.9010/AC caliber, and has a 45mm cushion-shaped case housing a sun-brushed sandwich dial within. It comes in two options: A blue dial ensconced in a Goldtech (a gold material composed of platinum and copper, developed specially by Panerai) case on a blue hand-dyed matte alligator strap, and a burgundy dial with a Platinumtech case on a black alligator strap.

Another new highlight is the vintage-styled Otto Giorni, which is inspired by the first Radiomir prototype launched in 1935 and features a Brunito eSteel case that’s hand-finished and covered in PVD coating for a deliberately weathered look. It has Panerai’s signature sandwich dial, which comes in references of blue and grain-shaded dark brown. The timepiece is adorned with a supple calf leather strap that matches the dial colour and is embellished with a pebbled effect and contrast stitching so it looks more seasoned with frequent wear. It’s powered by a hand-wound P.5000 calibre and has an eight-day power reserve.

Patek Philippe reinterprets the classics

Classic designs get a fresh new look and innovative new features at Patek Philippe. For instance, the Grandmaster Chime — the manufacture’s most complicated watch — has been reimagined in a bicolour version for the first time. Its double-face reversible case, which comes with a patented rotation mechanism, now comes in a combination of white gold and rose gold. The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300GR-001 also features two brown opaline dials, with a hand-guilloched Clous de Paris or hobnail pattern on the side that indicates the time of day. It’s attached to a two-tone chestnut brown patinated alligator strap and bicolour folding buckle.

The brand has revealed new Calatrava models too, a highlight of which is the Calatrava 24-Hour Display Travel Time Reference 5224R-001 with a Travel Time dual time zone and an original 24-hour display. It’s fuelled by the new caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H self-winding movement, which has a patented system that allows local time to be adjusted via the crown, and is enclosed in a rose-gold case. Its blue dial is marked with numerals, hour markers and five-minute cabochons hand-applied in rose gold.

Calatrava self-winding Reference 4997/200R-001

Here’s a brightly hued watch guaranteed to add pizzazz to any ensemble — the Calatrava self-winding Reference 4997/200R-001, which pairs a rose-gold case with a purple dial and strap. The dial is embossed with concentric wave details and is covered in more than 50 coats of translucent lacquer to create visual effect of depth. The case is crowned with a diamond-set bezel and contains the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement.

Gondolo Serata Reference 4962/200R-001

The brand has also launched a jewellery watch. The Gondolo Serata Reference 4962/200R-001 is a striking rose gold timepiece mounted with spessartites arranged in a double colour gradient, and features a brown-lacquered dial with floral motifs.

Piaget dazzles with an exuberant repertoire of high jewellery watches

Looking to its roots in watchmaking and jewellery craftsmanship, Piaget has unveiled a collection of exquisite high jewellery watches reminiscent its bold and beautiful designs from the 1960s and 1980s. In the spotlight are two opulent sautoir watches comprising gold chains hand-twisted to form homogenous links — a tedious process that takes some 130 hours. One tassel-style sautoir is a flamboyant marvel with its 25.38ct oval cabochon Zambian emerald attached to an oval-shaped dial (a signature 1960s Piaget shape) and accompanied by many smaller emeralds and diamonds. The other sautoir is a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by a 1969 design and is fashioned in rose gold with a hand-engraved dial fringed by twisted gold. It’s dusted with 6.41 carats of diamonds.

Another standout is the Limelight high jewellery cuff watch in rose gold with round-cut blue sapphires and a turquoise dial. It’s embellished with Piaget’s signature Décor Palace engraving technique, where an artisan makes incisions into a bracelet of gold links to produce grooves and marks varying in thickness and depth for an intentionally imperfect look. The cuff watch is also available in two other references — one with a white opal dial and diamonds on a rose gold band, and the other with a black opal dial and emeralds on a white gold bracelet decorated with wintry motifs.

The 2023 Aura high jewellery watch with sapphires and diamonds.

If that’s not extravagant enough for you, Piaget has also revisited its Aura high jewellery watch, which was first produced in 1989 and caused a stir back then with its showstopping array of diamonds in near-invisible settings. The 2023 iteration takes things up a notch by incorporating colour-gradated blue sapphires alongside baguette-cut diamonds. These complement a diamond-set dial with a sunburst pattern. The jewellery watch required over 260 hours of gem-setting work and is fashioned in white gold.

Roger Dubuis goes futuristic

watches & wonders highlights launches
Roger Dubuis Monovortex Split-Seconds Chronograph

Known for marching to the beat of its own drum, the Roger Dubuis booth – dubbed the “Hyper Life Factory” – was a futuristic space that saw guests served by AI (artificial intelligence) bartenders and entertained by a robot dog. It was a befitting stage for the launch of the brand’s only major novelty for 2023: the Monovortex Split-Seconds Chronograph. The watch is equipped with a Conical Monovortex Tourbillon positioned at 9 o’clock with a 360-degree trajectory to ensure precision, and contains a Turborotor Cylindrical Oscillating Weight, which is placed vertically at 12 o’clock so that gravity pushes down on it like a spinning barrel — pushing the boundaries of physics. This promises efficient winding of the watch and adapts to the movements of the wearer’s wrist. It’s powered by the RD114 Calibre and features a Split-Seconds Chronograph that’s built with a double column wheel system and complemented with a Rotating Minute Counter.

The Roger Dubuis Monovortex Split-Seconds Chronograph comes in a 47mm casing made of hyper-tech MCF (Mineral Composite Fibre), a material developed by Roger Dubuis that’s 2.5 times lighter than ceramic and 13% lighter than carbon. It’s fashioned in a fiery red hue and pink gold, and is adorned with titanium, black and grey coatings, and carbon details.

Rolex Perpetual 1908

Other highlights include a new Perpetual 1908, which is inspired by one of the first Rolex watches with a Perpetual rotor. 1908 refers to the year that the Rolex trademark was officially registered in Switzerland. There are four expressions in white or yellow gold, with choices of an intense white or black dial. The watch is fashioned with a slim case adorned with a bezel that is partly domed and partly fluted. It features a transparent case back to show off the movement and craftsmanship within, and is driven by the new Calibre 7140.

For those who can’t resist a pop of colour, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 is a stunner with its vibrant dial speckled with hues of turquoise blue, red, fuchsia, orange, green and yellow. The watch is decorated with 31 emojis that change daily in its date window at 3 o’clock, and seven inspirational words such as “happy”, “eternity” and “love” in the day window at 12 o’clock.

It comes in three variations in 18-ct yellow, white or Everose gold, and has a vivid dial with a jigsaw puzzle-inspired motif that’s created using champlevé enamelling. TAG Heuer celebrates the Carrera with a slate of new novelties

TAG Heuer’s novelties for 2023 are all focused on the 60th anniversary of the Swiss watchmaker’s emblematic Carrera watch. A standout is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, which has a 39mm stainless steel case topped with a glassbox, which is essentially a box sapphire crystal similar to the domed hesalite crystals found on the watch’s 1970s models. The crystal is carefully crafted so that its curve seamlessly spreads over the tachymeter scale that goes around the dial edge and inside the case. The timepiece comes in two models: one with a blue dial and blue calfskin leather strap, and the other with a black-and-silver “reverse panda” dial.

TAG Heuer has also unveiled the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon (which sports a similar glassbox design but has a 42mm case and an aperture on its dial at 6 o’clock that reveals a tourbillon), and redesigned Carrera Date 36mm, which comes with new proportions that make it slimmer and more comfortable to wear, and a refreshed crown and bracelet. The latter is powered by the new Calibre 7 Automatic movement and has four fabulous dial colour options of blue, pastel green, silver and pink. The first three variations will be available from April 2023, while the pink one will be released in May.

A sports watch we’ve certainly got our eye on is the bi-colour Aquaracer Professional 200, which is now available in 18k rose and yellow gold with the new Calibre TH31-00 automatic manufacture movement. The watch comes in four steel and gold models with a stainless-steel case (in options of 30mm or 40mm), solid-gold bezel inlay and crown, and gold-plated detailing on its hands and hour markers. The smaller 30mm models have 11 Top Wesselton diamond-dot hour markers (weighing 0.107 carats in total) and a mother-of-pearl dial.

TAG Heuer has also revealed a jewellery watch in the form of the Carrera Plasma Diamant D’avant-Garde 36mm, which features 124 custom-made pink and white lab-grown diamonds of a total on 15.5 carats on the aluminium bezel and bracelet, as well as on the chronograph case, crown, dial, and indexes. According to the brand, more gemstone colour options are in the pipeline. The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma’s signature crown diamond is a single, 1.3-carat, pink lab-grown diamond. The watch is powered by a Calibre 7 Automatic, which is visible through the sapphire open case back.

Tudor spotlights its Black Bay collection with new novelties

Recalling the aesthetics of the reference 7922 released in 1954, Tudor introduces the all-new Black Bay 54 in a 37mm case with a satin radial-brushed black dial with gilt accents. Its unidirectional bezel is devoid of graduated hash marks, while its seconds hand mimics the look of the original with its lollipop design. It runs on Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and has a 70-hour power reserve. The watch comes in strap options of rubber or a stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet. It’s the smallest Black Bay at the moment — Tudor downsized the Black Bay Fifty-Eight from 41mm to 39mm over the last few years, and now this Black Bay 54 is in 37mm. But it still comes with the same 200m water resistance as its predecessors.

Meanwhile, the Tudor Black Bay gets a fresh new look with a burgundy bezel and fitted with a METAS (Federal Institute of Metrology) certified self-winding movement. It’s powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U and comes on strap options of rubber, three-link or five-link “rivet-style” bracelet.

Also noteworthy is the Tudor Black Bay GMT which now gets a new opaline dial to complement its blue and red bezel. It has a satin-brushed stainless steel 41mm case and runs on a Manufacture Calibre MT5652 with 70-hour power reserve. For straps, wearers can choose between fabric or a stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet.

Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas model gets the retrograde moonphase treatment

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Retrograde Moon Phase.

As its name suggests, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Retrograde Moon Phase introduces new features in the from of a moon phase and retrograde date. These are paired with a six-sided bezel, fluted crown, polished and satin-brushed finishes and a translucent lacquered dial. The watch is powered by an in-house Calibre 2460 R31L/2 and comes with a 40-hour power reserve.

Van Cleef & Arpels presents a lavish assortment of jewellery watches

Not many brands can top the magnificent showcase of jewellery watches presented by Van Cleef & Arpels. Its Perlée collection now includes an elegant line-up of five timepieces crafted with fluid lines and round shapes fringed with a double row of golden beads finished in mirror-polished rose gold or diamond-paved white gold. Their dials are bedecked with pavé-set diamonds, guilloché rose gold or mother-of pearl, and a hidden push-button is fixed at the back of their case to enable the wearer to set the time easily. Our pick? The effortlessly pretty rose gold option that has a guilloché rose gold dial.

Another newcomer to the Perlée range is the secret pendant watch, which is inspired by 17th-century pocket watches. It has a curved, bejewelled pendant that can rotate to reveal the dial. Van Cleef & Arpels has rolled this beauty out in three gemstone variations: Rubies set in rose gold, sapphires in yellow gold, and emeralds paired with yellow gold. Those who prefer something a little more unconventional can consider the three other options adorned with precious stones: Chalcedony with white gold, rose quartz with rose gold, and sodalite with yellow gold.

Sweet Alhambra watch

The jeweller’s signature Alhambra or four-leaf clover motif gets its own jewellery watch too. The Sweet Alhambra watch is composed of alternating rose gold and reddish-orange carnelian stone motifs that culminate in a dial featuring the same iconic shape but in a larger size.

If we have to pick a favourite, though, it’ll certainly be the Ludo secret watch, now available in a new size and two combinations of materials — rose gold with diamonds, or rose gold with pink sapphires. The watch features a flexible, brick-pattern meshwork that’s hand-assembled and resembles a belt, with the guilloché white mother-of-pearl dial hidden at its heart.

It’s easy being green with Oris’ special edition Propilot x Kermit watch https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/oris-propilot-x-kermit/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 09:00:52 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1870814

Seems like Oris has finally found that rainbow connection with its brand-new special edition Propilot x Kermit timepiece.

Oris has beaten all the other watch brands to the punch in getting an official “Kermit” watch release. Debuted at this year’s Watches & Wonders, The watchmaker has joined forces with Disney’s The Muppets Kermit the Frog for a playful green take on the ProPilot X, and it’s fun, cheeky, and highly collectible.

Based on the Oris 39mm titanium ProPilot X Calibre 400, this fresh new iteration features an eye-catching green dial that’s been colour matched with Kermit and is contrasted by a titanium case with satin and sandblasted finishes. Packing a tremendous amount of value, the watch is powered by the Oris in-house Calibre 400 which sees anti-magnetic properties, five days of power reserve, and is backed by a 10 year warranty.

One of the most surprising details can be found on the date wheel where, at the first of each month (AKA “Kermit Day”), Kermit’s iconic face appears at the 6 o’clock date window – talk about the best way to start a month. As Kermit once famously proclaimed, “it’s not be easy being green,” but this Oris watch proves that green watches are back in fashion.

The Oris Propilot X Kermit Edition retails at S$6,400, and is available online here now.

OMEGA adds new colourful dials to their Aqua Terra collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/omega-seamaster-aqua-terra-collection/ Thu, 09 Mar 2023 02:53:39 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1866194 OMEGA Seamaster feature

Began in 1848 in Switzerland by Louis Brandt, OMEGA remains one of the most prominent luxury watch brands dominating the world today. Not too flashy, but still radiating a luxurious feeling, these timepieces are perfect for any situation (even underwater.) Watch lovers are sure to be pleased with the variety of colours, attention to detail, and versatility in OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades collection.

With the original Seamaster debuting in 1948, OMEGA has been continuously developing this line. The first Seamaster Aqua Terra collection unveiled itself in 2003 and has been evolving ever since. Divided into two series variants, the larger 38mm model comes in Atlantic Blue, Bay Green, Sandstone, Saffron, and Terracotta. The 34mm edition has dials in Sea Blue, Lagoon Green, Sandstone, Shell Pink, and Lavender. Despite the previous Aqua Terra collections having the staple “teak deck” in the dial finishing, this new design provides a cleaner finish. All models also sit perfectly on the wrist and all are cased in fully polished stainless steel. More than just an accessory, this recent series is exhilarating as OMEGA gives this familiar collection a sense of individuality, a new life revived with various daring personalities.

Powered by OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, the watches self-wind in both directions and has a power reserve of 55 hours. The Aqua Terra collection is also certified by METAS as Master Chronometer, withstanding magnetic fields up to 15,000 gausses. Above all, another great feature is its impressive water resistance of 150 metres, making it perfect for everyday wear.

In the 38mm series, there are more bolder earthy colours, giving it a masculine feel. The most striking shade in this line is “Terracotta,” which was created through a process called chemical vapour deposition (CVD). The deep metallic scarlet hue makes the dial extremely eye-catching and prominent. On the other hand, the rest of the dials use the more familiar physical vapour deposition (PVD) to create the colours. “Saffron,” for example, is a unique dial made through PVD. It’s not gold and not orange colour gives the dial a vivacious character. Adding a bit of oomph, that personal charm, into the design. Yet, “Atlantic Blue” is also tasteful for those interested in a more traditional option, especially with the captivating sunburst effect.

A more feminine version of the Aqua Terra series is the five new 34mm models that contains 18k white gold hands and indexes. With rounded markers and hands, this line has a softer aesthetic. Another difference between the 34mm and the 38mm series is the unique colour dials. Moreover, these timepieces, specifically in “Shell Pink” and “Lavender,” are perfect for ladies due to the cotton-candy-like shade and the light purple hue. The “Lagoon Green” dial provokes tranquility due to its alluring deep turquoise. Other gender-neutral tones include “Sea Blue” and “Sandstone.”

“From ocean to earth,” the Seamaster Aqua Terra collection is definitely one of the best everyday luxury timepieces money can buy. Also, with OMEGA’s 175 years of expertise, the brand sure holds it’s dominance in the watch-making industry, through their innovativeness and high quality standards.

Bring out your femininity with the Hermès Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/watches/about-the-new-hermes-cape-cod-chaine-dancre/ Tue, 07 Mar 2023 10:11:04 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1866800 Cape code feature

A timeless classic, the Hermès’ Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre embodies a divine feminine energy, and brings power and success to all wearers. Here’s a closer look at the new models.

Although Hermès is known for its luxury leather products, such as handbags, wallets, belts, and silk scarves, the luxury fashion powerhouse also produces luxury watches. Their remarkable timepieces are loaded with history and convey a certain extravagance, especially the iconic Cape Cod watch from the French maison.

Started from the unbridled pencil strokes of Henri d’Origny in 1991, the unique Cape Cod watch was born. Challenging aesthetic codes, the watch was initially designed as a square. However, a noteworthy feature is its case shape, a “square in a rectangle.” Another convenient feature is the watch’s practically. The watch fits perfectly on the wrist due to its curvature case back, increasing its comfort. Composed of two “anchor chain” half-links, Robert Dumas created this motif in 1938, which has now become the brand’s signature.

Cape Cod stormblue
Cape Cod glycine

Over the years, the Cape Cod has undergone many successive transformations with new and joyful personalities. The two new versions in Storm Blue and Glycine Athena represent complete femininity without being too overbearing. The dials, in shades of glycine or blue, have a background stamped with horizontal lines to make the stamped ‘Anchor Chain’ motif prominent. Both alligator or calfskin straps accentuate the soft dusty tone of these contemporary and elegant timepieces. Lastly and most preciously, the Storm Blue model also features 46 stunning diamonds around the edges. An elegant timepiece for the modern woman who may flaunt her femininity in a most sophisticated manner.
