From the crispest of pleated skirts to the most comfortable cable-knit vests, let’s curate a wardrobe that whispers “game, set, match.” After all, in the grand tournament of style, shouldn’t we all aspire to hold court?

Some of the best sneakers in Travis Kelce’s collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/the-best-pairs-from-travis-kelces-sneaker-collection/ Tue, 30 Apr 2024 09:56:05 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1919968

Here’s what we know about Travis Kelce’s sneaker collection and some of the best items from it.

In the high-stakes world of professional football and high fashion, very few shine as brightly on both fields as the Kansas City Chiefs’ standout, Travis Kelce. With a keen eye for both Super Bowl-winning plays and head-turning styles, his sneaker collection is as diverse and dynamic as his career. The array of footwear that graces his wardrobe is more than just a series of purchases; it’s a curated gallery of art, history, and personal expression that captures the essence of his unique style.

From custom-made rarities to mainstream hits, the sneakers in Kelce’s collection are as much a topic of discussion as his high-profile relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift. Each pair not only tells a story of unique design and luxury but also showcases a side of Travis that goes beyond the football field — and into the world of a true fashion aficionado. As we dive into Travis Kelce’s 300-pair strong sneaker collection, it’s evident that he’s always putting his best foot forward.

The best sneakers in Travis Kelce’s shoe collection

Nike Air Mag ‘Back to the Future’

The Nike Air Mag is one impressive footwear innovation, designed to replicate the famous shoes worn by Marty McFly in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II. This limited-edition sneaker features adaptive lacing technology, which auto-tightens to the wearer’s foot, a feature that was considered revolutionary at the time of its launch. Released in 2016 via a lottery and with only 89 pairs available, these shoes not only serve as a token of advanced technology but also as a significant, almost historical piece of pop culture memorabilia. Kelce, known for eclectic, flamboyant choices, obviously managed to secure a pair through his A-list connections. The rarity and technological appeal of the Air Mags make them a standout piece and a conversation starter at any sneakerhead convention even today.

Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG SP “Black Phantom”

A recent addition to the 34-year-old’s enviable sneaker rotation is the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG SP “Black Phantom”. This sleek iteration of the iconic Air Jordan 1 Low, co-created with hip-hop mogul Travis Scott, consciously blends luxury with streetwear elements. The “Black Phantom” model is distinct for its muted black colour palette and the reversed Swoosh — a signature Travis Scott touch that adds an edgy twist to the classic design. Kelce sported these exclusive trainers during the celebrated “Kelce Brothers Bobblehead Night,” an event commemorating their careers which was organised by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The choice of these particular Jordans for such a special occasion speaks volumes about Kelce’s penchant for pairing momentous events with some standout kicks, and confidently proving that his fashion game is as strong as his on-field performance.

Off-White x Air Jordan 1 “Chicago”

No discussion on Travis Kelce’s sneaker collection would be complete without mentioning the Off-White x Air Jordan 1. A collaboration between Nike and Virgil Abloh’s Off-White, this pair demands attention anywhere they’re worn. With their classic “AIR” inscriptions, stitched outlines, and eye-catching fluorescent laces, these sneakers are instantly recognisable. The story behind these kicks? Released as part of the influential “The Ten” collection in 2017, the shoe quickly became a cultural icon. The zip-ties became symbolic of a fusion between art and accessory architecture, while the classic red, white, and black colourway injected new life into the Jordans. When Kelce took his pair out for a spin, he ensured his outfit would not be missed by bystanders, paparazzi, and online critiquers alike.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Lobster”

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Lobster” is a splash in Travis Kelce’s sneaker ocean. Born from the collaboration between Nike SB and Concepts, the rare iteration brings a quirky twist to the Dunk Low lineup. The design features a distinct green hue reminiscent of the crustacean shell, coupled with a speckled pattern that adds depth and texture. A 2018 collaboration initially unveiled by Travis Scott, it is the fourth installment in a series of six lobster-inspired Dunks from Concepts, starting with the original red version in 2008 and most recently, an orange variant released in 2022.  The “Green Lobster” consistently fetches resale prices well above a thousand dollars, establishing its exclusivity. This sneaker isn’t just for walking; it’s for making statements. Kelce may have been hand-in-hand with Taylor at the time, but for sneakerheads, his Dunks were the only thing worth analysing.

At one Kansas City Chiefs game last year, all eyes briefly shifted from the on-field clash to the sidelines, where the star tight end was making a style statement of his own. His fabulous fit included the Travis Scott x Nike Air Jordan 1s, with their bold reversed Swoosh and a chic mix of mocha and black. These kicks aren’t just any sneakers; they’re an extension of Travis Scott’s sartorial prowess. Crafted in collaboration with Nike, these sneakers are notorious for their hidden stash pocket and the discreet yet distinctive Cactus Jack logos adorning the heel. Originally released in limited quantities, they quickly turned into a coveted item among sneakerheads, celebrated for their unconventional features and premium craftsmanship. When it came to Kelce’s turn to wear them, he paired them with a red Celine tracksuit and a crisp white t-shirt.

Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage By You

Kelce also teamed up with Nike in 2021 to release his own custom versions of the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage. Dubbed “Tru Kolors,” this collection unveiled six unique styles, each crafted on the Nike By You platform. The sneakers featured tear-away corduroy uppers that, through wear or distressing, faded to reveal a rich, tapestry-like base fabric.

The colourways were as personal as they were vibrant: “Tru Kolors” echoed his own clothing brand, “Kansas City” celebrated his NFL team with earthy brown and vibrant red, and “The Heights” paid tribute to his high school roots. Meanwhile, “K.I.D. Fire” brought to life a design by Kenniah, a young talent from Kelce’s 87 Running foundation. “The Runway,” likely inspired by his pregame fashion statements, alongside an unnamed version with a bold green Swoosh, complete the set. This drop was not just about the shoe; it was a nod to Kelce’s journey from his collegiate days at the University of Cincinnati to his professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

If you’re wondering what sneaker styles make Kelce’s heart stop, take a look at the time he went shoe shopping with Cool Kicks.

Lyst Index Q1 2024 Report: Miu Miu, Prada And Loewe named the hottest brands https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/lyst-index-q1-2024-hottest-brands-miu-miu-prada/ Tue, 30 Apr 2024 04:58:36 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1919818

The Lyst Index’s Q1 2024 saw Miu Miu take the number one spot, followed by Prada and Loewe. Check out the complete list.

It’s clearly her world and we are just living in it!

Earlier in Q4 2023, Prada took the first spot in Q4 2023, followed by Miu Miu and Loewe in the second and third place, respectively. Loewe maintains the third spot this time around as well.

On the other hand, Lyst Index’s Year in Fashion 2023 had named Miu Miu the hottest brand of the year, while Loewe’s monogram was hailed as the most-wanted luxury motif. So it is quite evident that these three fashion labels are not letting anyone take their throne, and are constantly shuffling with one another.

For the uninitiated, Lyst is a fashion technology company that evaluates luxury brands every quarter based on the behaviour of its customers. This includes analysing searches both on and off the platform, product views and sales data.

So, if you are curious to know all about the hottest brands right now, we have saved you the trouble of data crunching and simplified the findings of the Q1 2024 report from the Lyst Index.

All the highlights of the Lyst Index Q1 2024

During the first quarter of 2024, Miu Miu experienced an 8 per cent surge in online searches at the beginning of the year along with a remarkable 57 per cent year-on-year expansion due to its fashion show at Paris Fashion Week and sneaker collaboration with New Balance. Additionally, three Miu Miu accessories also made it to the Lyst Index’s ‘Hottest Products List’.

Loewe and Bottega Veneta maintained their positions at third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Saint Laurent made its debut in the top five, thanks to their surprise show at Paris Fashion Week, which drove searches up by 10% in Q1.

Surprisingly, Balenciaga climbed four spots to secure the eighth position and Valentino took the ninth spot after the announcement of Alessandro Michele as the new creative director.

Speaking about the Q1 2024 rankings, Katy Lubin, Lyst’s vice president of brand said in a statement: “Strong storytelling and cultural relevance set the Prada and Miu Miu brands apart. Prada fans appreciate that they’re buying into a formula that’s been perfected over many years. Thanks to Prada, there’s credibility and intelligence to the brand that transcends the creative director churn we’re seeing across the industry. This validates investing in a Prada hero product.”

Queen of Tears fashion: Kim Ji-Won’s best looks as Hong Hae-In in the show https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/best-kim-ji-won-fashion-in-queen-of-tears-netflix-kim-soo-hyun-k-drama/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 02:00:57 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1918491

Netflix’s Queen of Tears is not just gaining global fame due to it’s great script and performances by Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, but also for it’s high-end fashion. From exquisite tweed coats to chic handbags, here’s taking a peek at the best outfits and looks of Kim Ji-won as heiress Hong Hae-in Queen of Tears.

One of the highest-rated K-dramas of 2024, Queen Of Tears has been consistent in dominating the Netflix Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows category. Starring Kim Soo-hyun as the meek yet smart Baek Hyun-woo and Kim Ji-won as rich heiress Hong Hae-in, the K-drama focuses on the couple’s tumultuous relationship after marriage.

While the tVN original show is being applauded by critics for its necessary portrayal of reversed gender roles, K-fashion enthusiasts are gushing over its contemporary take on corporate wear. With each episode, Kim Ji-Won is seen slaying multiple designer outfits as Hae-in. Some of the best fashion statements of Kim Ji-won from the show include a black cut-out Alexander McQueen blazer dress paired with T1 open hoop earrings from Tiffany & Co. and a three-piece blue pantsuit paired with a top handle bag from Salvatore Ferragamo.

Lest we forget, the fiery red ‘revenge’ outfit, which Kim Ji-won flaunted in episode 7 of Queen of Tears, after learning about Hyun-woo’s plan to divorce her. Worth over USD 56,521 (THB 2056912), the look comprises a Balmain Grain de poudre jacket paired with a bodycon red midi dress and Serpenti Jewellery from Bulgari.

Talking about her looks from Queen of Tears, Kim Ji-won stated in a 2024 interview with MK Korea, “It’s been a long time since I played a rich character, so I paid attention to fashion. As the manager of a department store, I attempted to emphasise the mature and calm appearance of a businesswoman.”

How to achieve the cowgirl aesthetic and live out your Cowboy Carter fantasy https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/how-to-achieve-the-cowgirl-aesthetic-like-cowboy-carter-beyonce-album-shopping-guide/ Wed, 03 Apr 2024 08:47:40 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917711

Thanks to Beyoncé and her latest Cowboy Carter album, the cowgirl aesthetic has made a comeback, and this is how to achieve it.

Last year, the ‘coastal cowgirl’ trend was all over TikTok, and just when we thought it had disappeared, the cowgirl aesthetic is back stronger than ever. We’ve seen this Wild West style showcased in various FW24 runways, including brands such as Chloé, Cavalli, Louis Vuitton, and more. Celebrities like Bella Hadid, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and, of course, Beyoncé, have also endorsed this look.

Especially after Queen Bey released Cowboy Carter, which became Spotify’s most-streamed album in 24 hours this year, the star has been full-on with cowgirlcore. So, if you’re looking to tap into your inner cowgirl, here is our shopping guide on the items you need to complete a Cowboy Carter-esque kind of look.

Shopping Guide: How to achieve the cowgirl aesthetic and live out your Cowboy Carter fantasy

Boots have always been an essential part of Western fashion due to their practicality, symbolic value, and fashion influence. They have a long history in Western fashion and are known for offering protection and support during rugged outdoor activities. Therefore, the cowgirl aesthetic would not be complete without a pair of boots. If you’re planning to buy some, we recommend investing money in vintage boots. Although blisters are inevitable, a high-quality pair (and high quality socks) should help reduce them.

If you’re a fan of Western fashion, then you know just how essential denim is to your wardrobe. A good pair of denim jeans is a must-have item that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Opt for classic styles like boot-cut jeans or flared versions that are perfect for pairing with boots or heels. Furthermore, why stop at jeans? Denim jackets, tops, shorts, and more can also be great additions to your collection.

It’s not rodeo energy if you don’t have a Western-style belt to accentuate your body shape and complete your look. This item is also the perfect statement accessory.

Of course we can’t forget the cowboy hat. While there are various types, such as the brick, gambler, derby, pinched front, and more, the most classic style is the cattleman. This type of hat features three top crown creases and a slightly curled brim. It is the type of cowboy hat that is commonly worn by many people.

Fringe is a fashion statement that adds an element of free-spiritedness to any outfit. It is particularly popular among traditional Western wear, due to the airy feel and fluid movement that the ornamental border provides. Whether it’s on a jacket, purse, or jeans, this fashion item can make any outfit look super chic.

Besides being much easier to put on than a regular necktie, the cowboy bolo tie is the perfect item to help you get that cowgirl look. This iconic piece of Western fashion has been around for decades and was once considered a symbol of the Southwest. Wearing a bolo tie not only made a statement but also showcased pride in one’s heritage.

Although this may be controversial, we think that wearing a vest is ideal for a modern-day cowgirl. Choose earthy tones like tan, brown, grey, and beige to help capture that yee-haw essence. Plus, if you work in corporate, this top can be incorporated into your officewear, too.

5 things to know about the new BOYY flagship store at Central Embassy https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/5-things-to-know-about-the-new-boyy-flagship-store-at-central-embassy/ Fri, 29 Mar 2024 07:00:25 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1917303

Designed by FOS, check out the latest BOYY flagship store at Central Embassy, under the sophisticated concept of “a city within a city within a city.”

Just last Saturday, BOYY held an ultra-exclusive store opening at Central Embassy, graced by the presence of the brand’s co-founders, Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman. Featuring a one-of-a-kind concept and distinct product presentations, here’s everything you need to know about it.

[All images courtesy of BOYY]

5 things to know about the new BOYY flagship store at Central Embassy

1. The shop was designed by FOS

BOYY recently announced a collaboration with FOS (Thomas Poulsen), an acclaimed Danish artist who is renowned for his innovative use of space. FOS has a unique design philosophy that emphasises a deep understanding of the environment, including its unique attributes, essence, and constraints. This approach has helped him create captivating sculptures, immersive installations, mesmerising music compositions, cutting-edge architectural endeavours, and exquisite designs that have left an indelible mark on the art world. Additionally, FOS has collaborated with numerous luxury brands, making him a sought-after artist in many creative realms.

2. It has a very unique concept

The collaboration between BOYY’s co-founders and FOS began at the Milan flagship space on Via Bagutta. Together, they adapted to the design context of the flagship dedicated to the streets of Milan, but with Eastern influences to resonate with its Asian clients. However, what we truly love is the store’s concept of “a city (the shop) within a city (the shopping mall) within a city (Bangkok).”

3. There’s a street-like interior

Although the interior and decor of this flagship is different, the store still perfectly embodies BOYY’s urban vibe and identity. The industrial elements, from the lights to the faded concrete, hanging rails, street lamps, and carpets in various shades of grey, create a raw and edgy atmosphere. It feels as if you’re walking down the bustling streets, but you’re actually shopping inside a mall.

4. You’ll find displays of their Spring/Summer 2024 collection

During the grand opening of BOYY’s new flagship store, they proudly showcased their latest production, the SS24 collection. This line features two classic shades, Cherry Red and Eturia Blue, combined with innovative materials and bold new designs. Fans of the brand will be pleased to see the return of some of their beloved items, such as the Romeo bag from the classic Buckle collection, now available in Epsom and Byron leather. Additionally, BOYY has produced other new bags, inspired by a set of monster face drawings by the founder’s son, that are cute and playful.

5. It is a constantly changing store

Although the brand shared that the flagship isn’t fully complete, they did mention that the store will be in a constant state of change — just like a city that’s always growing and evolving. Today, BOYY has four flagship stores, with one located in Milan and three in Thailand, including branches in Gaysorn Tower and Siam Paragon.

Marimekko celebrates 60 years of iconic prints with its ready-to-wear SS24 collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/marimekko-celebrates-60-years-of-iconic-prints-with-its-ready-to-wear-ss24-collection/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 09:30:58 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1916964

Known for its original prints and vibrant colours, Marimekko celebrates the 60th anniversary of the brand’s iconic print by introducing its Spring Summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection.

Marimekko, a renowned Finnish design house, has captivated the world with its iconic poppy print, famously known as “Unikko.” Since its creation in 1964 by the talented designer Maija Isola, this timeless design continues to enchant fashion enthusiasts globally, standing as one of the brand’s most cherished symbols. In celebration of Unikko’s 60th anniversary, Marimekko has recently launched its latest Spring/Summer 2024 collection, where an array of lively floral prints take the spotlight.

Marimekko Spring/Summer 2024 collection

In a momentous tribute to the 60th anniversary of the iconic Unikko print, Marimekko has embarked on a groundbreaking celebration by honouring the enduring beauty of this beloved flower. This year marks a milestone as Finnish artist Antti Kekki unveils five captivating new floral prints: Helakka (Bright), Kolmikko (Triplet), Malja (Toast), Nokturno (Nocturne), and Poiminto (Pickings). These exquisite creations, crafted with Kekki’s distinctive papercut technique, not only pay homage to Unikko’s essence but also embody a new chapter of artistic interpretation.

For Spring/Summer 2024, Marimekko merges feminine silhouettes with modern utilitarian workwear, both equally representative of the rich design heritage of the brand. The collection creates a joyful meeting between print, minimalism, and utilitarianism with robust material qualities of washed canvas and heavy cotton-twill combined with breezy cupro and crisp colourful poplin in printed dresses and effortless summer layering styles.

Moreover, the fashion house has seamlessly blended elegant feminine silhouettes with contemporary utilitarian aesthetics. By doing so, this collection harmoniously unites the realms of print, understated sophistication, and practical workwear elements. They’ve also incorporated materials like washed canvas and heavy cotton-twill fabrics. Not to mention, a number of their products have been made from 100% organic cotton since the brand aims to use more organic and recycled materials. This statement also includes their seasonal bags and accessories.

With the new season approaching, the company has added soft pastel shades of Spring. This colour palette draws inspiration from Marimekko’s classic colour schemes of the original Unikko print— seamlessly blending contrasting hues from opposite ends of the spectrum. For instance, you can expect Dijon brown, ash grey, endive, and antique white intertwined with lively pops of fuchsia, prism pink, tangerine, chlorophyll green, and sodalite.

From his Samsung smartwatch to Nike Dunk Low, we take a look at BTS’ singer Jungkook’s collection of watches and sneakers.

The members of the K-pop boy band Bangtan Sonyeondan or BTS are not just musicians — they are pop culture icons. At present, their influence around the globe can be rivalled by very few in the pop landscape. With such widespread popularity, they also inspire the masses in terms of their impeccable fashion.

Lavish threads aside, it is the watch collection of the BTS members that people are most interested in. ARMY members (a term coined for BTS’ official fanbase) are equally hooked on the flashy accessories of RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jungkook. Interestingly, the estimated worth of the septet’s luxury watch ensemble stands around USD 1 million.

The youngest member of BTS, Jeon Jung-kook — popularly known by his mononym Jungkook — has enjoyed considerable success both with and outside the band. Naturally, he also enjoys a greater following than most of his peers.

Like the rest of his band members, Jungkook also has a penchant for luxury watches. As a matter of fact, rumours suggest that he has the most timepieces among all the BTS members. In addition, his love for sneakers is also well-known.

Have we piqued your curiosity about his ensemble of luxury accessories? Then sit back and relax, we have got you covered. Here is a curation of the timeless watches and sneakers in Jungkook’s collection and their prices.

Summing up Jungkook’s collection of watches is a custom-made watch. What makes this timepiece perhaps the most special of this ensemble is the fact that it was gifted to the Korean singer by the President of South Korea Moon Jae-in.

Jungkook received this watch from the First Lady of South Korea, Kim Jung-sook, in September 2018. The present was a token of appreciation for BTS’ achievements.

Coming back to the timepiece, it fashions a white dial with a cream-beige leather strap. The dial features an engraving in Korean that reads ‘President Moon Jae In’. On the back of the watch, another phrase is engraved in Korean which translates to ‘People First’ in English.

Which The Row bag should you buy? A few things to consider https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/which-the-row-bag-to-buy-guide/ Thu, 14 Mar 2024 04:00:59 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1915166

Looking to add your first bag from The Row? Then consider these six essential designs by the brand when making your decision.

If you’re not familiar with The Row yet, you probably heard of them recently when they made waves in the fashion industry by defying the norm and prohibiting smartphone use during their latest presentation. That trick has worked well in their favour when one considers the success that The Row has in the past two years. Looking to add one of the brand’s pieces to your collection? Read on to learn about the best The Row bags to buy right now.

While the new Luddism moment has set the tone for The Row on a wider stage thanks to widespread media coverage, the brand itself has already cemented a firm and formidable reputation among the world’s fashion elite. Much of this can be credited to the personal styles of their founders, actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who brought about a resurgence of pared-down, casual luxury in a manner that evoked the well-worn and well-loved simplicity of 1990s East Coast yuppie elegance ala Carolyn Bassette.

Never ostentatious, The Row embodies a design philosophy that puts quality materials and comfort first. This isn’t to say that refined elegance is neglected of course, with sleek tailoring often a key house code since the label’s inception. A combination of these aspects translates to a foundational bedrock upon which many wardrobe staples can be built, with items such as white shirts and coats being frequent best sellers.

Where accessories are concerned, handbags are the category dujour at The Row, as evidenced by the meteoric rise of the Margaux tote to prominence among luxury consumers. But beyond ludicrously capacious carryalls, you would be pleasantly surprised to learn that the brand has a handful of other designs that are worthy of your coin all the same, whether it be prim-and-proper top-handle moments or hands-free practicality courtesy of crossbody iterations.

If you’re still weighing your options on your first from the brand, here are five seminal The Row bags to consider.

Note: Prices listed are converted from USD using rates available as of writing.

The Row bags: essential designs to consider when buying your first

Feature and hero image credits: The Row

The most popular girl in class by a considerable margin, The Row’s Margaux bag is fast becoming the It Bag for a completely new generation of high-luxury consumers. Debuting in 2018, the spacious tote was already a staple in the daily rotation for one-percenters who enjoyed it for its inimitable ability to balance quality, practicality, and pared-down style. From running between New York sidewalks to cobblestones in Paris, the Margaux easily transitions between intercontinental sartorial trends, underscoring its appeal.

While it is most typically seen out in the wild in larger sizes, the Margaux is offered in as many as four different dimensions. These include the smallest 10-inch version, followed by the 12, 15, and finally, the 17. Materials are equally diverse; calf leather and suede is the norm, but a version made of nylon known as the Inside-Out Margaux was also briefly available before being discontinued.

But if open-mouthed tote bags aren’t your style and you prefer daintier with more structure, then the Sofia 10.00 Bag is a sensible pick. Taking after similar styles evocative of handbags popularised during the 1950s, the Sofia sports clean, uninterrupted lines constructed from a sturdy box calf leather material. This translates to an exceedingly elegant design accented by a solitary piece of hardware on the bag’s front fascia.

Lift the flap open, and you will reap the benefits of a gusseted interior separated into two main sections, bisected by a zippered pocket in the middle. Both compartments are sizeable, and can fit a Continental wallet with relative ease. While the top-handle version doesn’t come with a crossbody strap, those who desire hands-free practicality in the same Sofia style can look towards the Sofia 10.00 Shoulder Bag, which trades the top-handle for an adjustable shoulder strap that can be worn doubled-up for a more secure fit against your underarm, or extended to its full length for relaxed chic.

True minimalists appreciate the signature restraint and austerity that comes with designs from The Row. A prime example of this can be seen in the Nikin Bag, intended to be strictly worn on the shoulder as a Baguette-adjacent style. As is the case with every other piece to debut from the NYC-based label, its unassuming simplicity belies a degree of fine craftsmanship that is rarely found elsewhere.

Made of supple calfskin with a wild boar lining, it takes some squinting to notice that this deceptively banal-looking shoulder bag only sports a minimal amount of stitches holding it together. Made from around three sheets of leather, each piece including the integrated handle is moulded into shape instead of being sewn, making it a true testament to The Row’s commitment in leathercraft.

If there is one thing that the Margaux bag falls short in, it is probably where security is concerned as by design, it is an open-mouth tote held together by a buckled strap. If you happen to commute on public transit and are worried about deft hands purloining your belongings without you noticing, then you can lay your worries at rest with The Row’s Terrase Bag instead.

Offering the same air of easy, quiet luxury composure that has made the Margaux an instant hit, this shoulder bag is comparable to the 15-inch version of its more popular sibling, measuring 13 inches lengthwise. With a considerably more comfortable shoulder strap owing to a longer drop, the Terrase also comes with the added benefit of a zippered opening, which ensures that any and all valuables kept within will remain secure throughout the day.

The bag range from The Row has a propensity to be more feminine leaning, given the softer shapes and lines inherent to their designs. But fret not, as the Domino Bag is a solid recommendation from within their collection that would suit the tastes of both men and women alike. Sporting boxier lines that are reminiscent of briefcases, this soft bowling bag is made completely out of supple saddle leather that is equal parts robust and buttery soft to the touch.

Dimension-wise, the bag’s 35-centimeter length provides ample storage, accommodating everything from compact laptops under 14 inches, to mini umbrellas and water bottles. Better still, the rolled handles come with a generous drop length for comfortable shoulder carry, as well as a zippered closure for the safety of your belongings. Sold in either Dark Chocolate or Black colourways, the Domino Bag fits perfectly in the daily office transit routine.

Perfect for overnight trips or as carry-on luggage across international borders, duffle bags are an indispensable component in every man’s wardrobe. Predictably, The Row has one on offer all the same, sporting the same reliable ethos of style and substances their other designs do. Meet the George Duffle bag, a considerably-sized piece that measures a whopping 43 centimeters across lengthwise.

A hardy calfskin leather exterior belies an expansive interior that is also lined with leather, easily accommodating two day’s worth of clothes and toiletries in one go. Carry it by the top handles if you so choose, or sling it over your shoulder or crossbody if you would rather not have your hands occupied as you breeze through airport checkpoints. And in the words of Henry Ford, the George Duffle is available in every colour, as long as it is black.

You might be able to buy the ‘Godzilla Minus One’ shoes worn at the Oscars soon https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/buy-the-godzilla-minus-one-shoes/ Tue, 12 Mar 2024 08:20:04 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1915507

Looking to buy the iconic kaiju footwear from the Oscars? The Godzilla Minus One shoes might go on sale very soon.

Oscars night always features a dizzying array of fashion statements and pieces (or lack thereof in John Cena’s streaking bit). From Emily Blunt’s floating sleeves to Emma Stone’s gorgeous white dress that broke before she won Best Actress, the award ceremony is an opportunity for celebrities to strut out in their best. But this year’s Oscar’s fashion moment isn’t a Vera Wang dress, a Louis Vuitton bag, or a Hugo Boss suit. That honour goes to the shoes worn by the Godzilla Minus One crew—and they might be available for purchase soon.

The iconic Godzilla Minus One shoes might go on sale soon

Not only did the Godzilla Minus One team nab the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, but they rocked up to the ceremony reppin’ the king of the monsters. Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi, and Tatsuji Nojima were all wearing shoes with Godzilla-clawed heels, a subtle yet oh-so-fashionable way to celebrate the iconic kaiju. Despite being subtle, people noticed it. Many online loved the shoes and began asking where they could get their own pair.

Apparently, the shoes were made by a Japanese designer brand Hazama and designed by Matsui Ryosuke. The designer has actually designed several shoes similar to the Godzilla Minus One shoes but with different heels like a hand, vampire fangs, and a gun—yes, a gun. The shoes were made in collaboration with the film, but the ones the crew wore were not just the only designs. Ryosuke took to the Platform Formerly Known as Twitter to unveil boots sporting the black Godzilla fin heel and another but with a red variation of the heel.

Ryosuke, after thanking everyone for gushing over the nerdy footwear, also made the exciting announcement that “there is a possibility that we may be able to sell the stock in a little while” and advised everyone interested to wait for further details. Hopefully, we can strut in our very own Godzilla Minus One shoes sometime in the next few months.

Inside BLACKPINK’s luxury shoe collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/blackpink-luxury-shoe-collection-chanel-dior-miu-miu-balenciaga-adidas-jisoo-lisa-rose-jinnie/ Sat, 09 Mar 2024 13:00:48 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1914556

Jisoo’s Dior-ID sneakers, Lisa’s Miu Miu ballerinas, Jennie’s Chanel loafers: Know about the luxury shoe collection of the BLACKPINK members.

Whether on stage, attending events or off-duty, BLACKPINK members are often seen sporting many covetable fashion pieces — so much so that their luxury shoe collection has a fanbase of its own. From Jisoo’s gold-tone embellished Dior ID sneakers to Lisa’s Sugar Jones boots, here’s taking you through some of the best luxury shoes BLACKPINK members have flaunted over the years.

Along with being true fashion chameleons, the talented K-pop idols also have quite a range. A case in point is BLACKPINK member Lisa, whose extensive shoe collection has pieces from an array of luxury fashion houses around the world. These include the Italian brand Gucci, the Spanish label Balenciaga, the Italian high fashion label Miu Miu and the French label Celine.

Not to forget how the girl group is proving to be an effective marketing tool for the fashion industry worldwide. With BLACKPINK’s ability to create a wider fanbase, labels generate record-breaking sales and sell out immediately when the band members recommend or wear a luxury product.

Reportedly, Dior’s sales increased a whopping 484 per cent after collaborating with Jisoo. Additionally, according to a Vogue Business report published in October 2023, the “Flower” singer brought in USD 11.5 million of Dior’s total EMV (earned media value) that year.

The best of BLACKPINK members’ luxury shoe collection

Jisoo

While the decade-spanning wardrobe of BLACKPINK member Jisoo has managed to hypnotise fans, her luxury shoe collection, too, deserves a closer inspection.

Although Jisoo dazzles the audience with her red-carpet appearances, the singer mostly leans towards fashion that’s easygoing and trendy when it comes to daily wear. Her luxury shoe collection is a mix of classic sneakers from Alo, Adidas and Converse, as well as fashion kicks from Dior, Gucci and Burberry. For Jisoo, the minimal the pair, the better.

Alo x O1 Classic

If you follow Jisoo on Instagram, you will often see the BLACKPINK member casually walking the streets of New York or strutting through airports clad in luxury shoes from Alo, especially the brand’s latest launch — USD 185 worth Alo x O1 Classic.

According to the brand’s official site, the Unisex sneaker is “made from cruelty-free vegan leather and recycled components” and abrasion-tested rubber which “ensures that it lasts three times longer than any other street shoe on the market.”

Jisoo, who attended the Dior AW24 show for Paris Fashion Week, made sure to flaunt her Alo x O1 Classics, this time in Black. The vocalist was announced as the spokesperson for Alo’s spring 2024 campaign in January.

Burberry suede and Shearling Stoney Mules

These Italian-made mules in calf suede are lined with shearling and feature an Equestrian knight design tag. They also have chunky rubber soles moulded with archive Burberry lettering. Other details include a rounded toe and quilted check insole.

The BLACKPINK member was seen flaunting these USD 950 worth of uber-cool luxury shoes in her January 2024 photo dump on Instagram.

Dior ID Sneakers

Jisoo was dubbed as Dior’s Global Fashion Muse in 2020, and it was in May 2021 that she embarked on her first collaboration project with the brand, fronting the Dior Fall ’21 and Dior Vespa campaigns as Elle magazine’s June cover star.

Since then, the BLACKPINK member has been spotted wearing Dior fashion items on multiple occasions, especially the Dior ID sneakers.

Combining vintage inspiration and a bold modern edge, the pair has a thick, textured sole and an embossed gold “Dior-ID” signature with a 3D effect. Dior IDs are available in a range of colours, including white/green, white/nude and white/black for costs over USD 1,150.

Lisa

This Thailand-born BLACKPINK member has internet searches devoted solely to her luxury shoe collection. From Gucci to Prada to Celine to Miu Miu, her footwear collection has got it all.

Miu Miu Satin Ballerinas

On 5 June 2023, Lisa visited a UNESCO World Heritage site in Ayutthaya, Thailand and treated her fans with a few snaps from the same on her Instagram.

The always decked-up Lisa was seen donning a minimal look — a handwoven cotton top by Thai brand Chan Ruan, a long Indigo sarong in a traditional Mudmee cotton fabric and a Celine Ava Triomphe bag in black. However, it was her beautiful USD 950 worth of black Miu Miu satin ballerina that stole the show.

Lora Piana Babouche Charms Walk Loafers

While Lisa is mostly seen wearing statement pieces when it comes to footwear, once in a while you can also spot the K-pop sensation choosing comfortable loafers and sneakers.

During her Paris trip in July 2023, Lisa was seen shopping and chilling in the park in her casual USD 980 worth of Lora Piana Babouche Charms Walk Loafers.

The luxury shoes have a 100 per cent suede composition and rubber soles. They are hand-stitched on the front upper and have white soles with dedicated space on the heels.

High Boot Celine Biker in Calfskin – Vegetal Tanning

The “Money” singer was announced as luxury fashion house Celine’s brand ambassador back in 2020 and since then she’s been spotted at a number of the brand’s Parisian shows. The BLACKPINK member has also been featured in numerous Celine campaigns and is nicknamed ‘human Celine’ time and again, flaunting the luxury brand’s items, especially shoes.

The Korean rapper wore the USD 1,950 worth of High Boot Celine Biker in Calfskin – Vegetal Tanning to the brand’s Pop-up Store opening in Bangkok in December 2023.

Lisa was also seen attending Celine’s Winter 2023 menswear show in Paris, clad in a black feathered jacket and black knee-high boots from the brand’s collection. She completed the look with a Celine Shoulder Bag Triomphe in Laminated Goatskin with Leopard Print.

Chrome Hearts Sugar Jones Boots

Lisa was seen rocking the statement Sugar Jones boots, worth a whopping USD 3,633, in a September 2023 post on her Instagram.

The sleek boots are embellished with the signature Chrome Hearts detailing and come in black, white and a delicious crocodile pink. A detailed piece of art inside each shoe is a star-shaped patch with a ‘Sugar Jones’ engraving. The pair is a collaboration between musician Jesse Jo Stark and her family-owned brand Chrome Hearts.

Rosé

This BLACKPINK member has been out and about in a spate of high-end luxury ensembles while paying special attention to footwear.

While Rosé loves a good heel, the pairs that get her through the day mostly include comfortable sneakers, loafers and sandals. Her shoe collection, unsurprisingly, has pieces from some of the leading luxury fashion brands in the world like Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Gucci, Balenciaga and Miu Miu.

Autry Dallas High Top Leather Sneakers

The K-pop singer was seen donning USD 212 worth of Dallas High Tops from Autry while returning to Korea from their group’s BORN PINK world tour (Hong Kong leg), which was held at Asia World-Expo from 13 to 15 January in 2023.

Rosé also chose these sneakers as one of her Coachella 2023 favourites. Her April 2023 Instagram post with bandmate Lisa is enough to prove the same.

These luxury shoes Autry come in calf leather, a logo patch to the side, perforated detailing, a logo patch at the tongue, a round toe, front lace-up fastening, ankle-length, branded insole and flat rubber sole.

Saint Laurent SL/61 low-top Sneakers

Image: Courtesy Rosé/Instagram; YSL

From the number of times Rosé is papped wearing them, the BLACKPINK member’s luxury shoe collection seems to be filled with YSL sneakers.

One of her favourites is the uber cool USD 675 worth Saint Laurent SL/61 low-top Sneakers. These low-top laced sneakers feature perforated leather on the front panel, a gold-tone Saint Laurent signature across the pull tab and an SL 61 inscription on the side.

The Korean star was seen flaunting this pair while enjoying the streets of Barcelona in December 2022. Rosé was there for the BORN PINK Barcelona tour.

Saint Laurent Teddy Lace-Up Shoe

Image: Courtesy Rosé/Instagram; Farfetch

In one of her Instagram posts from April 2022, the Saint Laurent brand ambassador can be seen pairing the USD 895 Teddy Lace Up Shoe with sheer black tights, a short dress in matte velvet and a statement-making monogram pattern bucket bag, all from YSL’s luxury collection.

The Teddy Lace Up Shoes come in an outer material made of robust, black leather with a suede finish, a high-quality insole made of leather, an oval toe and silver-coloured modern metal details.

Rosé, who was chosen as the French brand’s face in 2020, attended the label’s Ready-to-wear Fall-Winter 2024/2025 show in Paris in February 2024.

Jennie

If you thought there were no more novel ways to wear Motorcycle boots, Jennie will prove you wrong.

The BLACKPINK member boasts a fancy luxury shoe collection, ranging from classic R13 sneakers to classy Chanel loafers and even chunky Motorcycle boots.

Xpd XP3-S Motorcycle Boots

You might not see Jennie riding a Motorbike, but you can definitely spot her rocking the trendy Xpd XP3-S Motorcycle Boots.

With interchangeable sliders, polyurethane shields and a solid chassis, these shoes have high abrasion-resistant microfiber upper with vented areas. They also come with medial side high abrasion and heat resistant suede leather upper, as well as personalised and high grip double density vulcanised rubber sole.

Priced over USD 220, the XP3-S boots were seen on Jennie in August 2023, as she posed with her personal dream Porsche car, which has been built based on the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.

R13 Kurt High Top Sneaker

If there’s any footwear that Jennie is obsessed with, it has to be her USD 495 worth R13 Kurt High Top Sneaker.

These classic canvas high-top sneakers have lace-up closure, hand-stitched platform, round leather white/white cap toe and the signature R13 logo on the side.

While the “Solo” singer has repeated the trendy sneaker pair multiple times, she was last spotted in them in a February 2024 Instagram update.

The BLACKPINK member was seen flaunting multiple Chanel pairs from her luxury shoe collection in the November 2023 cover issue for W Korea.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+

The weather in Bangkok has been unpredictable lately. Some days it’s hot, other days it’s windy, but every day it’s polluted to the point where you can’t tell if it’s going to rain or if it’s just pollution. Due to the dusty air, my skin has become irritated with tiny red, itchy bumps on my cheeks. I hope I’m not the only one experiencing this. However, I’ve found a solution to my problem. I’d heard a lot about the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ on TikTok, but I hadn’t tried it until now. Surprisingly, this product reduced redness and itchiness in just one day. It’s also very moisturising. – Tipapa Chandarasrivongs, Content Writer

Dune Part Two

Director Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster movie, Dune, is back with part two. The story revolves around a cosmic struggle between religions, philosophies, and beliefs, with Timothée Chalamet playing the main character, Paul Atreides. Part two picks up right from where the first part ended, and it’s an intense and captivating continuation. The breathtaking scenery and flawless lighting continue to dominate the movie. The cast includes Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and new actors Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Léa Seydoux.

The movie runs for nearly three hours, and it honestly keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. I recommend reserving the IMAX version for an exhilarating viewing experience, especially for the fighting scenes of each character and the grandeur of the giant worm, Shai-Hulud. – P.T., Senior Writer

Louis Vuitton’s ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ is a first for Southeast Asia https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/whats-on/news-whats-on/louis-vuittons-lv-the-place-bangkok-is-a-first-for-southeast-asia/ Wed, 28 Feb 2024 05:13:04 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1913563

A boutique, a café, a restaurant by Gaggan Anand, and an immersive exhibition space: Louis Vuitton’s ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ truly is a first for Southeast Asia.

Billed as a 360-degree retail concept,  Louis Vuitton’s ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ finally opened on February 28 at the newly renovated Gaysorn Amarin. After weeks of rumours and speculation, we can finally reveal what’s in store at this exciting new space.

News first leaked of culinary revolutionary Gaggan Anand’s involvement through a restaurant at the spanking new luxe Gaysorn Amarin (an extension of Gaysorn Village), called ‘Gaggan at Louis Vuitton’, with early reservations apparently streaming in. But it soon became evident that there’s going to much more to the highly anticipated ‘LV The Place Bangkok’. Indeed, from the inspiring architectural elements to dynamic scenography and original menu items at a café and restaurant, respectively, visitors can expect to discover the breadth of imagination and creation within the Louis Vuitton universe.

Occupying two floors of the downtown retail complex, ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ has created a dream-like environment from its corner location where the façade is enhanced with giant diamond shapes reminiscent of Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram that glow at night. From the inside, the exciting space plays out as a multi-faceted integration of retail, dining, and culture.

Visionary Journeys

On the ground level is ‘Visionary Journeys’, an exhibition that explores the Maison’s heritage like never before. The scenographic experience developed by globally renowned architectural firm OMA and Partner Shohei Shigematsu, marks the first instalment of OMA and Louis Vuitton’s collaborative partnership, imagining an architectural identity for the exhibition concept. Thematic rooms are constructed into distinct environments recontextualizing historic and contemporary pieces and immersing visitors in the foundational pillars of savoir-faire, innovation, travel, and creation.

Starting with a ‘Trunkscape’, where 96 trunk modules have been assembled as a tunnel, the exhibition transports visitors directly into a story of craft and ingenuity. This is followed by ‘Origins’, which highlights the specific and notable contributions that the Vuitton family made to the Maison as a 360-degree staging of archival documents and items detailing early inspirations and designs. Trunks from the late 19th century illustrate how Louis Vuitton began as a trunk-maker, while examples of the monogram canvas through the decades reflect the continuity and innovation of a living brand.

Dedicated to ‘Iconic Bags’, the next room celebrates 25 years of fashion history at Louis Vuitton through the lens of five iconic bag models (Alma, Keepall, Speedy, Noé and the Petite Malle) and how they have been reinterpreted by the Maison’s artistic directors – the likes of Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, Nicolas Ghesquière, Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams – advancing both craftsmanship and style. To emphasise the unique shape, form, and importance of these icons, 21 bags and two ready-to-wear looks are captured in 19 clear acrylic bubbles that convey the collective contribution of these visionary designers.

The penultimate space, ‘Collaboration’, dives into the artistic relationships that have yielded some of the most popular and memorable bags in fashion history. Reimagined by Stephen Sprouse, Richard Prince, Takashi Murakami, or Yayoi Kusama, seven original creations speak to the boundless potential of collaboration, while a semi-circle of animated screens transforms a backdrop of 184 chrome-dipped bags into a cinematic showcase of each artist’s distinct pattern. Finally, a surprise awaits visitors as they part in the form of a ‘Giveaway Room’, where souvenirs can be won and collected.

Le Café Louis Vuitton

Also located on the ground floor, Le Café Louis Vuitton exudes a lush ambiance blending botanical design elements with chic details of the Maison, from a monogram parquet floor to furniture referencing the iconic ‘Objets Nomades’. Here, the patisserie selection tempts with cakes, tarts, parfaits, and ice cream sandwiches in an array of flavours, each decorated with a signature Louis Vuitton flourish. These tantalising treats include the Star Blossom Cake, a chocolate and caramel cake; the Monogram Cake, a pistachio with orange blossom cake; and a locally inspired iced refreshment called Mango Sticky Rice Fizz, made with mango and sticky rice-infused syrup with a splash of tonic water. Mirroring the climate of the Southeast Asian city, the interior boasts the use of natural materials like wood, raffia and plants. The pièce de resistance is a large, curved counter where the dessert selection is displayed, and clients can explore the confections at their leisure.

The Boutique

Elegant yet infused with vibrant touches, the store at ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ extends across the upper level in an immersive and contemporary shopping experience. Amidst vintage furniture arrangements and colourful artworks, the layout proposes the men’s and women’s product universes in greater fluidity, curated to capture and captivate the most discerning of clients seeking exceptional design above all else. Those seeking exclusivity can look forward to the launch of the Alma Nano Rainbow available in five colours, a women’s Cruise 2024 T-shirt available in four colours, and a men’s LV Trainer Upcycling sneaker in a unique colourway. These products are worldwide exclusives and only available at this boutique. Personalisation is available through hot stamping with a special “Nong (meaning younger sibling in Thai) Vivienne” design created especially for the opening.

Gaggan at Louis Vuitton

Also on the upper level, celebrated chef Gaggan Anand has curated a “food journey” offered across both lunch and dinner for the Maison’s first restaurant in South Asia, ‘Gaggan at Louis Vuitton’. This culinary adventure is signalled by a pyramid of trunks which lead into a room of undulating walls punctuated with resin structures by Draga & Aurel, LV monogram flower lamps, and fringed curtains. The fine dining restaurant accommodates 10 Italian marble tables where diners will experience a seasonal menu exclusive to Louis Vuitton and based on the 5 “S” – Sweet, Sour, Salty, Spicy and Surprise. From Thai-inspired dressed lobster to a mushroom recipe in a Damier pattern, each composition is presented on a distinctive dish. Moreover, for clients seeking the ultimate culinary experience, a private dining room provides a view to the kitchen at the press of a button.

With works from local and international artists on display throughout the space, the overall concept embraces the vibrancy of Bangkok with cross-cultural flare, just as ‘LV The Place Bangkok’ extends the ambitious global lifestyle vision of Louis Vuitton. Bringing a wider cultural experience into a single store, this 360-degree concept for Gaysorn Amarin no doubt establishes a new blueprint for Louis Vuitton spaces to come.

What is the Met Gala 2024 theme, and who are the co-chairs? https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/met-gala-2024-theme-and-co-chairs-the-garden-of-time/ Sun, 18 Feb 2024 12:55:45 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1912536

Mark your calendars, fashion’s biggest spectator sport is soon to take place once again. Here’s everything you need to know about the Met Gala 2024, from this year’s theme of choice to the co-chairs involved.

Occurring once every year without fail on the ‘First Monday in May’ as it is traditionally referred to, the world turns its collective attention to Fifth Avenue in New York City, where one of the most monumental occasions on the fashion calendar takes place on the steps leading into the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Met Gala 2024: The Garden of Time

This year is no different of course, with the organisers of fashion’s biggest soiree finally breaking the news on its theme of choice for 2024, alongside the event’s roster of celebrity co-chairs.

Slated to take place on May 6th, this year’s MET Gala will see the creme de la creme of high society take up “The Garden of Time.” as its theme. For those who don’t necessarily share a propensity for literature, the theme takes inspiration from the 1962 J. G. Ballard short story of the same name, which takes place in a garden overgrown by flowers capable of manipulating time.

Naturally, the dress code plays well in tandem with The Costume Institute’s exhibition of choice — “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”. Open to public viewing from May 10th onwards before closing on September 2nd, the exhibit will comprise a total of 250 historical fashion garments and artifacts that are deemed too fragile to be displayed on mannequins.

Instead, these elusive pieces will be laid flat and put on display in glass vitrines, suspended from time’s decay, for all to see, which will be no doubt complemented by the constellation of global stars that will be in attendance during the exhibit’s opening. With that said, tackling this year’s theme may prove to be a more considerable undertaking than the outgoing ode to fashion maverick Karl Lagerfeld in 2023, owing to its considerably conceptual and ambiguous nature.

Red carpet predictions range from more literal expressions of time, whether defined through a conventional lens or through the pages of Ballardian lore, to high-brow interpretations. But one thing is for certain, turning up with a show of on-the-nose florals won’t cut it.

As for the Costume Institute Benefit’s co-chairs, expect nothing less than an A-list coterie, comprised of actress Zendaya, pop star Jennifer Lopez, actor Chris Hemsworth, rapper Bad Bunny, Loewe creative director J. W. Anderson, as well as TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. They will serve alongside the event’s main leadership, comprising of decorated media icon Anna Wintour and Wendy Yu Curator in Charge, Andrew Bolton.

Predictably, many of the names tapped to serve as this year’s Met Gala co-chairs are repeat attendees, with Jennifer Lopez having attended as many as 13 previous iterations.

Although no official announcement has been made so far, it is quite certain now that Supreme will be collaborating with Maison Margiela’s ready-to-wear line MM6, according to a reliable leak source.

Reliable leaker account Drops by Jay posted an image of both brands’ logos hinting a collaboration for the Spring/Summer 2024 season. Now we’re looking forward to the partnership between the two, which will likely include a Box Logo Hoodie and skateboard decks, among other items.

Supreme and MM6

Supreme has done many, many joint projects with a roster of brands and designers. We have already seen the partnership with COMME des GARÇONS, Louis Vuitton, Nike, The North Face, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rimowa, and Tiffany & Co. to name a few.

MM6 is under Maison Margiela, with a focus on more accessible ready-to-wear pieces. It has been known for its unconventional approach to feminine clothing, produced under innovative garment construction.

As for now, stay tuned and keep an eye on Supreme’s upcoming lookbook for SS24 for extra hints on the collab.

The best festive Lunar New Year handbags you should cop for 2024 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/the-best-festive-lunar-new-year-year-of-the-dragon-handbags-you-should-cop-for-2024/ Mon, 22 Jan 2024 02:00:47 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1908972

No Lunar Chinese New Year ensemble is complete without a statement piece of arm candy to go with it. Come the year of the Wood Dragon in 2024, here is our roundup of the best festive Lunar New Year handbags to nab.

It may be difficult to imagine just how fleeting time can be, but once again we find ourselves standing at the precipice of the Lunar Chinese New Year celebrations, as the Year of The Water Rabbit gives way to the impending Year of The Wood Dragon. Constellations and zodiac motions aside, this beckons a fresh start to all aspects of life, from one’s aspirations, hopes, and for the sartorially informed, potentially a new wardrobe.

The latter bit is especially relevant in the case of Lunar Chinese New Year ensembles, when house visits, banquet dinners, and other social engagements are packed within 15 days. Predictably, the fashion world is quick to come to the rescue in that regard, with the industry’s best, brightest, and most notable names debuting their dedicated range of styles befitting for the festive season.

And if it is bags that strike your fashion fancy, rest assured that there is no shortage of pieces that would be ideal accompaniments to every celebratory moment, between the crackle of firecrackers and the dispensing of red envelopes. Playing on the theme of dragons, expect everything from new print designs to colours, and even a plush toy that doubles as a purse!

Here is our roundup of the best Lunar Chinese New Year handbags to add to your cart.

The best Lunar New Year handbags to cop for 2024

Right off the bat, one of high fashion’s most revered icons has already hit it out of the park with a truly apropos Lunar Chinese New Year lineup of accessories without even trying. The maison‘s latest SS24 menswear collection by newly minted Creative Director Pharrell Williams has infused the heritage Damier print with new verve through colour, which is especially befitting of Chinese tradition in its red incarnation. Pair it on the Speedy Bandoulière 18 for a head-turning statement at every reunion dinner.

The true standout star from this year’s myriad of high fashion Lunar Chinese New Year capsules definitely comes from Italian label Fendi. In a whimsical and unexpected collaboration with not just streetwear grandmaster FRGMT, but also Nintendo’s eternally adored Pokémon franchise, the brand has updated their signature bag styles to feature Dragonite, in a nod to this year’s Chinese animal zodiac. The Baguette is an especially collectible piece, which features a Dragonite patch on Fendi’s signature FF Zucca print.

Since his appointment to the Spanish house, creative director J.W Anderson has made a point of turning the heritage fashion brand into one of the most exciting names in the business by fusing a peerless creative spirit with exceeding degrees of craftsmanship. For the Lunar Chinese New Year season, Loewe has introduced what they have dubbed the Jade Collection, which bridges the gap between haute couture and heritage Chinese jade carving artistry. Anchoring this collection is the Flamenco Purse mini, which now comes with a specially carved jade piece.

Note: Prices are converted to HKD based on exchange rates at the time of publication.

With Daniel Lee now at the helm of Burberry, a completely fresh fleet of bags have been introduced at the legendary British fashion house, most of which feature imaginative designs that are both a testament of their refreshed vision and longstanding techniques in leatherworking. A fine example of this is expressed in the Rose Clutch, which in its many delicately soft folds of leather, brings out both qualities in equal aplomb. For the Lunar Chinese New Year, be sure to select it in Pillar Red to suit the occasion.

Get caught red-handed for striking a best-dressed moment at every Lunar Chinese New Year shindig you find yourself attending when you have the brand-new Valentino VLogo Moon mini bag in tow. This malleable nappa leather hobo number in Rosso Valentino slouches with nonchalant appeal, further enhanced by a statement gold chain bearing the Italian label’s now iconic VLogo emblem. A multitude of styling options with an included crossbody strap ensures that it will always add a dose of visual novelty to your outfits, but our favourite way of wearing it has to be as a handheld clutch, with the VLogo hardware resting on your wrist like a makeshift bracelet.

Note: Prices have been converted from USD to HKD based on exchange rates at the time of publication.

Red is the preferred colour of choice for the Lunar Chinese New Year, but if you find it a little too lurid for your liking, you may consider an adjacent shade — pink. As part of its festive collection this year, Versace has released their emerging classic Greca Goddess bag in a plush pink velvet iteration that recalls the peak glamour of the early 2000s, ala crushed velvet tracksuits and blinged-out Motorola Razr phones. Carry her on the shoulder for the day, and in the hand for the evening.

To say that Prada’s sister label, Miu Miu, has witnessed a resurgence in popularity would be doing a great disservice to its status as one of contemporary fashion’s hottest names. In an ode to both the festive period and en vogue style, consider nabbing the sinfully supple Miu Miu Wander matelassé nappa leather hobo bag in red to complete your Lunar Chinese New Year fit. A classic in the making with its pleated leather and crescent-moon silhouette, this Italian wonder is best held close at hand for a true fashion statement.

Cutesy and endearing at first glance, Gucci’s latest Lunar Chinese New Year limited collection will undoubtedly set many hearts aflutter with the introduction of their brand-new GG Supreme monogram, this time coyly updated with a baby dragon character. While featured on a select number of ready-to-wear pieces, it has also translated on the brand’s Double G Mini Bag, which can be had in either pink or green leather trim. While appearing dainty, it can easily contain all of your day-to-day essentials, including a phone and compact wallet, with relative ease.

For a very literal but very endearing take on the Year of The Dragon, Tory Burch has you covered. Instead of offering a new print (which they did, by way of a cloud motif), you get to take home a whole baby dragon. Meet the Dragon Mini Bag, which in essence is a purse tucked away in the confines of a dragon plush toy. Naturally, this adorable little guy comes dressed in his own miniature Tory Burch woven jacket and carries a teeny-tiny red crossbody bag. Just be mindful not to stuff the little guy too full.

A considerable part of the Lunar Chinese New Year festivities often involve ushering in an abundance of prosperity. In that regard, no bag embodies this quite perfectly as the Coach Tabby 20 Shoulder Bag in mirror gold patent leather does. Appearing almost akin to an ingot in the hand, this stylish piece doubles down with practicality by offering a shockingly substantial amount of storage space for a bag of its dimensions, in addition to providing two different straps for either top-handle carrying or hands-free crossbody wear.

The Row Margaux bag: Why is this new quiet luxury staple getting so much hype? https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/the-row-margaux-bag-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-new-quiet-luxury-staple/ Sat, 20 Jan 2024 08:30:32 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1908714

As seen on just about every A-list celebrity in the past year, The Row’s emerging icon, the Margaux bag, has been a topic of much fanfare in the sartorial community. Here’s everything you need to know about this new quiet luxury staple.

A sizeable measure of this interest in the Margaux can likely be credited to the rise and rise of last year’s new-found obsession with stealth wealth ala Succession and inadvertently, the return of the ludicrously capacious tote bag. But with the bag’s prominence in fashion now inching ever closer to critical mass, there has never been a more opportune time to dissect this impending cult classic piece.

Inherently distilling the very essence of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s vision for quality apparel and nonchalant style (as evidenced by the frequent appearance of their thoroughly seasoned matching Kelly bags), the Margaux remained relatively under the radar for quite some time after its debut, serving as one of the industry’s most beloved secrets (as intended) until recently.

All you need to know about the Margaux bag by The Row

Introduced back in 2018, the brief that The Row had for the Margaux was relatively simple: to create a luxurious, dependable, durable, but above all, fashionably subdued carry-all that will last through the years. By that measure, the bag has succeeded in leaps and bounds since becoming incorporated into the brand’s permanent line of heirloom accessories.

a photo of a black the row margaux bag

Keeping to stealth wealth staples, the Margaux bag by The Row stays true to the aesthetic’s key tenet of sartorial conservatism and lacks any ostentatious indications of branding on its exterior. Designed in a half-moon bowling-bag adjacent shape, this open-mouthed tote is carried on two handles that can be worn on the shoulder in larger iterations with a more generous drop length.

The Margaux also features belted gussets with buckle details on the side, which serves to tighten the bag’s sides for a neater look, not unlike the sangles found in the perennial classic Hermès Birkin.

a photo of a caramel the row margaux bag

Given its insistence on practicality, this tote bag is generous in its capacity, regardless of sizing. An open section, which can be cinched together by way of a lobster clasp, is lined with contrasting fabric to make sifting through personal belongings more convenient. Pockets on the bag’s side further add to its functionality, with a zippered section ideal for precious keepsakes.

Margaux bag sizes and leather options

As for sizes, The Row offers these covetable bags in a vast array of dimensions, starting from the smallest Margaux 10, followed by the Margaux 12, Margaux 15, and finally the Margaux 17 bags respectively, with each succeeding number denoting the length of the bag in inches.

The smaller Margaux 10 and Margaix 12 bags come shipped with a crossbody strap, whereas the Margaux 15 and Margaux 17 bags feature longer handles that allow them to be worn tucked under the arm. While leather choices aren’t nearly as abundant as one may expect, staples such as smooth calf, pebbled calf, and suede calf leathers are all available in the Margaux range, in mostly subdued neutrals that have become a Row hallmark.

While they aren’t available to buy in Malaysia, you may opt to shop for a Margaux of your own from The Row’s official website and have it shipped to you. Expect to pay a pretty penny for the privilege of owning one, with even the entry-level Margaux 10 coming in at a princely $3,490 (approx. THB 124,196).

Fashion forecast: 6 fashion trends that will continue their run in 2024 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/fashion-forecast-2024/ Sat, 13 Jan 2024 07:00:15 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1908032

For our fashion forecast 2024, these are a few fashion trends you’ll see crawling from 2023 into 2024, from Barbiecore to quiet luxury.

When we all were taking memories and moments from 2023 into 2024, the fashion enthusiasts were busy packing a few trends along the way and that gave us a list of a few fads that might continue their reign in the new year as well. So, here’s our fashion forecast for 2024.

Innovation and refurbishment lie at the core of fashion and that is something we witness with each passing year. It feels like yesterday that I was reminiscing about what a spectacular year 2023 was, and the next thing I know the calendars for fashion weeks in 2024 were out and about already. 2023 was a total banger courtesy of some groundbreaking shows, new beginnings and iconic moments that left an intrinsic impact on the history of fashion, we expect 2024 to top it all up and I’m sure it will! The New Year means a new age for fashion, but as a part of the fashion forecast for 2024, we see a few stunning fashion trends and fads of 2023 continuing their run in 2024. With that said, since fashion weeks are about to commence in no time, here are a few fashion trends that we think might be a part of 2024 as well.

Fashion trends from 2023 to 2024: fashion forecast 2024

Barbiecore continues

You might want to hold on to those shades of pink in your closets for now at least, as it seems like the Barbiecore trend ain’t going anywhere anytime soon! Margot Robbie may have kickstarted the craze, but the fashion connoisseurs made it into one of the biggest and most catchy trends in 2023, and I think we are not done yet, there’s more pink coming our way in 2024 as well.

The rise of streetwear

More so than a trend, streetwear is more like a category that seems to have taken a whole lot of space in our wardrobes, especially in 2023 and I can sense the same continuing in 2024 too. The need to laze around while being chic and stylish is what the streetwear space offers, hence giving this trend a huge, especially amongst the GenZ crowd.

Quiet Luxury

Call it minimalism or quite luxury, this trend kickstarted in 2023 and left an intrinsic impact so much so that I don’t see it going anywhere in 2024. Logomania sure has its moment time and again, but quite luxury is evergreen and is synonymous with chic and classy fashion.

Neutral palette

Speaking of fashion forecast 2024, while trends like Barbiecore are prominent amongst millennials and GenZ, simultaneously there is also an inclination towards following a neutral palette. Capsule closets drenched in neutrals and pastels are here to stay be it 2023 or 2024. All-time classics are not going to fade away that easily.

Y2K is still relevant

Fashion trends that were all the rage back in the aughts always find a way back especially the ones prominent in the 2000s aka the Y2K trend! From low-rise denims, and trucker hats, to all the things that give us major nostalgia can be seen in 2024 as well. So, keep an eye on the ramps you might find a Y2K look to obsess over.

Denim days

Yes, we know this is not a new trend, but the variations to this one are infinite. While one talks about the fashion forecast 2024 it seemed like the denim fever peaked in 2023 and I think it’ll continue to do so in 2024. While some manifest the return of skinny jeans in 2024, there are designers using denim for those cami tops, cowboy boots, flared dresses and whatnot. So, the denim days continue their reign as it is.

Prada unveils new Spring 2024 collection campaign with Troye Sivan https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/prada-spring-2024-collection-troye-sivan-harris-dickinson/ Fri, 05 Jan 2024 10:09:45 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1907517

Prada has introduced its Spring 2024 collection campaign featuring Troye Sivan, Harris Dickinson and Kelvin Harrison Jr. The collection contains both womenswear and menswear.

The SS 2024 campaign, titled Days of Prada, circles around the theme of unity and individuality in the visual tale envisioned by creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. The campaign manages to capture this concept through a series of 40 raw portraits lensed by photographer Willy Vanderperre, guided by Ferdinando Verderi.

Explaining the campaign concept in a statement, the Italian fashion house says, “These portraits are at once individual and part of a larger body of work. They reflect both the procession of the fashion show itself and a wider dialogue with fashion as both badge of belonging and marker of personality.”

If you are wondering what the campaign looks like and how the fashion house is modelling its latest designs, take a look at the newly introduced Prada Spring/Summer 2024 fashion campaign.

Troye Sivan, Harris Dickison and Kelvin Harrison Jr. star in the new Prada Spring 2024 collection campaign

All the 40 portraits in the campaign beautifully represent the individuality of every model, who walked the Prada SS24 show at Milan Fashion Week in September 2023. It includes both seasoned and fresh faces, each model highlighted in a distinctive portrait.

The Italian brand has stayed true to its practice of spotlighting Hollywood figures who epitomise the Prada aesthetic. The campaign highlights globally recognised actors and artists — Harris Dickinson, known for his roles in Beach Rats, Where the Crawdads Sing, Triangle of Sadness and The Iron Claw, Kelvin Harrison Jr, popular for films like Chevalier, Waves and Monster and singer Troye Sivan, who recently dropped his new album Something to Give Each Other.

For fans curious to know how their favourite celebrities are in IRL, this campaign video aims to showcase their genuine identities. Here, they are not acting but are playing the main characters in their narratives, standing out distinctly for their personality and sartorial choices.

Apart from Sivan, Dickinson and Harrison, the campaign lineup includes Ajah Angau, Mica Arganaraz, Loli Bahia, Lexi Boling, Jolien Bosman, Oninyechi Chijoke, Sora Choi, Rejoice Chuol, Elise Crombez, Anica Cuca, Sanja Dalecka, Mathilde Denard, Dominika, Lina Emelianova, Farah, Selena Forrest, Elen Giunio and Nastya Honchrova.

Additionally, Du Juan, Qin Lei, Julia Meseguer, Amanda Murphy, Julia Nobis, Ornella, Lila Pankova, Romi Peled, Eliza Petersen, Sascha Rajasalu, Laura Reyes, Alyosia Salamatina, Diana Skowron, Penelope Ternes, Denyse Tumukunde, Ilya Vermeulen, Freya Vervaet, Nikki Vrekic, Rianne van Rompaey, Liu Wen, Anok Yai and Lina Zhang complete the roster of models.

10 best Hermès Constance bag alternatives to get the look for less https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/the-best-budget-friendly-hermes-constance-luxury-bag-alternatives-to-shop-right-now/ Mon, 01 Jan 2024 10:00:14 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1906632

Love the sleek lines of the Hermès Constance, but still paying off the gas bills? Here are 10 alternatives that give you the look for less.

Dating back to the 19th century, French haute fashion house Hermès has always been inextricably linked to the gated and guarded world of high luxury. At its inception, the label established itself as a forerunner in the equestrian world in manufacturing bespoke saddles for noblemen. This in turn, led to the creation of other horseriding accompaniments that included, chiefly, bags that were used for the transportation of saddles and equestrian equipment.

The segue into leather accessories wasn’t too far-fetched from that point, with the first Hermès bags being introduced in the 1920s after the wife of Émile-Maurice, who headed the company at the time, complained that she couldn’t find a handbag that suited her needs.

In the modern fashion pantheon, Hermès has been credited with some of the most recognisable and indeed, coveted bag designs in memory. Aside from the well-loved Birkin and Kelly, this also includes the Constance bag that debuted in 1959.

a photo of three hermes constance bags in lime green, beige, and black

A seminal design by Catherine Chaillet and named in honour of her fifth child, the Hermes Constance bag takes function to greater heights by offering a truly hands-free option to the label’s offerings. Featuring chamfered corners and a prominent ‘H’ lock closure at its front, it became an immediately recognisable symbol of the house despite running against the grain of more established Hermes symbols such as the sangles, the touret turnlock, and the padlock.

Now, it forms an essential part of every Hermes collector’s trifecta of foundational styles, often included in the popular ‘BKC’ abbreviation: Birkin, Kelly, Constance. Offered in a medley of both bovine and exotic leather options, the sky is the limit where picking the perfect Hermes Constance is concerned, with budgetary constraints being typically the most common factor to take into account.

But for those still saving up for their very first Constance bag, you’ll be glad to know that there have been more than just a few alternatives that have been introduced over the past few decades that can do a splendid job of filling that Constance-shaped void in your wardrobe. Let us prove our case with some of our favourite Hermes Constance luxury bag alternatives.

Feature and hero image credits: Coach, Mulberry

It should come as no surprise that when it comes to solidly crafted leather goods that are also sensibly priced, Coach reigns supreme. That is no different with their Idol bag, which is for the most part, almost identical to the Hermes Constance, down to its massive ‘C’ magnet closure. Crafted out of smooth box leather, the bag also comes in an East-West style for those who prefer a baguette-adjacent look. All Idol styles are sold with a chain strap for added styling versatility.

A fashion upstart that gained considerable traction over the past number of years for its generally low price points, DeMellier’s success has largely been credited to their Vancouver bag. Sporting lines that recall the Constance, it even features the same free-sliding strap configuration which can be doubled-up for shoulder carrying, or set loose for hands-free crossbody wear. But instead of an ‘H’ clasp, this design is embellished with the brand’s now signature double bar motif.

Similarly, the Tory Burch Eleanor is a striking doppelganger for the Hermes Constance by bearing all of its signature hallmarks. Dubbed a ‘convertible’ design for its ability to be worn on the shoulder or crossbody (as is the case for most Constance bag dupes), it can also be purchased with a chain strap for those looking to take this demure number out on a night about town. Depending on your preference, you can opt for a variety of different finishes that range from pebbled leather to smooth box calf and even Y2K-apropos velvet.

Introduced by creative director Hedi Slimane, the Celine Classic Triomphe is an archival style made modern. Taking after the popularity of the Box bag from Phoebe Philo’s era, the shape has now been updated to incorporate a pinch lock that takes pride of place on the bag’s front, in the shape of the brand’s signature Triomphe logo. As one can imagine, the bag is made of smooth box calf and opens to yield a capacious interior. An adjustable shoulder strap enables it to be worn on the shoulder or crossbody.

Despite being often mistaken for a contemporary luxury label, Paris-based APC has been around since 1987. Commonly associated with effortless Francophile cool, many of their designs bank heavily on subtlety to great effect. A key example of this can be seen in the APC Grace bag, which is evocative of both the Hermes Constance and the Celine Box bags. Just as in the case of its forebearers, the Grace is defined by a polished metal clasp in its front, alongside a discreetly embossed logo at the very bottom edge.

While not sharing as strong of an aesthetic lineage with the Hermes Constance as its peers on this list, the Gucci 1955 Horsebit is still worth a look for the practicality that it brings to the table. Available in the Italian maison‘s signature GG supreme coated canvas or a coated leather finish, the bag’s accordion compartments provide ample opportunity for storage and organisation, all discreetly tucked away behind their instantly recognisable horsebit detail.

Note: Prices stated are based upon conversion rates from USD to MYR at the time of writing.

The Ralph Lauren RL888 may be a mouthful, but its insistence on keeping to clean, uninterrupted lines will easily win over any minimalist’s wardrobe. Much in the same way as the Hermes Constance bag does, this crossbody style from the American exporter of Hamptons chic features lusciously smooth box calf leather, with a front flap securely held closed by a polished gold ‘RL’ lock. Three accordion compartments ensure that your valuables are always within easy reach.

For decades now, Italian leather goods brand Bottega Veneta has been considered to be one of the country’s best-kept fashion secrets, owing to its understated reputation and appeal to stealth wealth enthusiasts. Not anymore however, with its appointment of Daniel Lee that revitalised consumer interest in Intrecciato-woven bags that was subsequently championed by current creative director Matthieu Blazy. For those out for a Constance alternative that doesn’t necessarily skirt within the lines of the original design, the Desiree bag from Bottega presents a beguiling option with boxy, structured lines and an almost gem-like centre lock. Unfortunately, the Desiree is best served only as a crossbody bag.

French jewellers Cartier need little to no introduction in the luxury market for their range of splendid bijoux and fine watches, but not many will immediately associate them with leather goods, which are also a part of the brand’s retail portfolio. In which case, fans of the Constance can also consider looking into the C De Cartier mini shoulder bag, sporting the shame curved corners as on the rue Basse-du-Rempart iteration, but replacing the ‘H’ clasp with Cartier’s interlinked double Cs.

Named after the affluent Central London district of Pimlico, Mulberry’s entrant in this space is suitably upmarket. While once again a strictly crossbody style, there are more than a few passing similarities between this and the Hermes Constance that make it worthy of a good look if you’re in the market for an alternative. Beyond the rounded corners, the bag’s unique letterbox-style Amberley lock draws the eye immediately as its focus, while a well-considered interior means plenty of storage opportunities.

2023 sure was an eventful year for the beauty and fashion realms. Here’s a look back on some super hyped fashion items and beauty products that ruled the year.

Barbiecore, balletcore, and quiet luxury are only a few examples of fashion trends that saw their rise in 2023. For the beauty realm, TikTok influencers have become a huge factor in shining spotlights on trending products. As we look forward to more amazing trends and items to emerge in 2024, here’s a brief summary of the most hyped items in beauty and fashion in 2023.

[Hero and Featured Image Credit: COS]

10 most hyped beauty and fashion items of 2023

COS Quilted Bag

Ever since Jennie Kim of Blackpink introduced this squishy bag to the internet, the bags just won’t stop, can’t stop selling out. Although she started the hype, it’s fair to say that the bag stays for its practicality and cute design. New colours keep coming out, as well as leather versions.

Dior Saddle Bag

The Dior Saddle Bag had its rise since Carrie Bradshaw carried hers in pink, white, and gold in season three of Sex and the City. It had its falls and comebacks several times in the past decades, and was reintroduced once again at the Dior Cruise 2023 show. It owes its hype the Y2K It bag status, the equestrian style, and the delicate Andalusian craftsmanship.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

Plenty of this British makeup brand went viral on TikTok since 2022, and some items are still gaining ongoing hype this year. As the name implies, it’s not as much a foundation but a hydrating skin base with a blurring effect that resembles your Instagram filters. It gives you the perfect my-skin-but-better look that fits so well with the makeup trend nowadays.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil

The lip oil trend has brought several products into sight, including this princess-like Dior Lip Glow Oil. The cherry infused oil gives a plumping and juicy effect that has received much love especially from the West.

Bottega Veneta Drop Earrings

Available in small and large, the Drop Earrings are made of 18K gold-finish sterling silver that are far from being low-key. Whether you love it or find it too avant-garde, we can’t deny that we saw them everywhere this year.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

This liquid blush is every TikTok-er’s essential, and it seems to be worthy of all the hype. These blushes are highly pigmented, available in dewy and matte formulas, and stay put for a long, long time. In a nutshell, well done Selena.

Cargo pants

The Gorpcore and Y2K trend is still going strong in 2023, and baggy, low-rise cargo pants obviously dominated street fashion this year. From mid-range brands to luxurious designers, cargo pants are found everywhere and worn by anyone.

Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer

Fenty Beauty has so many items that are on the holy-grail list for young TikTokers, and this glowing bronzer is one of them. As always, our mother Riri tries to cater to all skin tones, so the Sun Stalk’r is available in as many as nine shades.

Chanel Cat Eye Sunglasses

As short-lived as The Idol was, this series made the cat-eye glasses that Lily-Rose Depp wore as Jocelyn and on the Cannes red carpet a trending fashion item.

Alaïa Mary Janes

Classic Mary Jane shoes are always in fashion but the ones from Alaïa rocked 2023. They were launched in 2022 but became popular a year later after they also caught the eyes of Fenty Beauty’s boss, Rihanna.

Off-White honours Virgil Abloh with an HR-approved Pre-Fall 2024 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/off-white-virgil-abloh-pre-fall-2024/ Sat, 23 Dec 2023 10:16:58 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1906361

The Off-White pre-fall 2024 collection is youthful, cool, and HR-approved.

Thanks to the talented creative director Ib Kamara, Off-White has left us in awe once again with their newest Pre-Fall 2024 collection. From Sierra Leone to London, Kamara has demonstrated that Off-White is poised for a comeback at Paris Fashion Week in February. The brand’s latest collection has fully embraced its core principles of “youthful luxury, playfulness, and street,” which were initially established by the founder Virgil Abloh in 2012.

[All images courtesy of Off-White™]

The inspiration behind the designs of these pieces came from Kamara’s trip to Japan, which gives this line-up quite the oriental feel through the pleated fabric and bra-overstitched hoodies. Whether it’s the head-to-toe all-floral outfit or the mix and matching that gives off NYC vibes, the Pre-Fall 2024 collection is saucy and unique.

Although the industry loves minimalism, Kamara maintains the brand’s streetwear roots by putting a touch of optimism and fun into it because “it’s very Off-White to deliver that twist.” This year’s campaign was taken in an office atmosphere to show that whether you’re getting dressed to walk on the street, go to work, or wait for a Zoom meeting, Off-White’s Pre-Fall collection is HR-approved and perfect for any time and any occasion.

For those interested, please add Off-White Thailand’s Line Official Account (@)offwhitebangkok. To contact their Siam Paragon Branch, M floor, please call 02-129-4530 or 02-003-6168 for The EmQuartier branch, M floor.

There’s a Balenciaga skiwear minigame that you can play right now https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/balenciaga-skiwear-game/ Tue, 19 Dec 2023 08:42:04 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1905690 balenciaga game

Forget about brands doing collabs with games. Balenciaga has launched its very own skiwear game.

Quirky collabs between luxury fashion brands and games like Minecraft have become a thing for some reason. These special fashion collab items exist both in the digital and the real world so gamers can be clad in them whether it’s their avatars or their actual selves. Balenciaga, however, has gone down a different route and got rid of the middleman. Instead of partnering with a game, it created a game itself.

[Hero image: Balenciaga]

Balenciaga launches a game to celebrate their Skiwear collection

The minigame was released on December 11 in celebration of Balenciaga’s first skiwear collection. The game itself is very straightforward: players take control of one of two avatars clad in the signature skiwear and are tasked to ski down a slope. There are three different environments with different weather conditions. The goal is to stay on the infinite slope for as long as possible as the speed gradually increases.

Balenciaga isn’t just releasing the minigame but also launching a competition that lasts until January 31. The best skiers from each designated zone will be awarded a (real-life) Balenciaga ski lock from the collection.

The Balenciaga Skiwear collection was launched last November and includes a variety of equipment from accessories to gear. Parkas, cargo pants, water-repellent outerwear, and jackets are just some of the items included in the collection. Of course, it can’t be complete without Balenciaga’s very own snowboard and skis.

To play the minigame, visit ski.balenciaga.com. Visit Balenciaga’s website to view the entire Skiwear collection.

Why pajamas are trending more than ever this festive season https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/pajamas-trending-this-festive-season-kardashians-billie-eilish/ Sun, 17 Dec 2023 10:00:29 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1905084 pajamas festive season billie eilish

Whilst the LBD, sequin jumpsuits, or metallic outfits were the fashion norm for festive seasons previously, here’s why pajamas are trending more than ever this year.

This year, Christmas will be spent in the simplest of outfits — pajamas. Having already made their way into women’s (daytime) wardrobes this year, PJs will be taking a seat at the festive table for a celebration that’s as kitsch and cozy as it is relaxed. The only rule is to make sure your Christmas pajamas match those worn by the rest of your family.

Why pajamas are trending more than ever this festive season

Pajamas took on a prominent role in life at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, and more precisely during the various lockdowns. Getting dressed with no prospect of leaving the house made little or no sense to adults and children alike. But the trend has continued, to a lesser extent, in the wake of the pandemic. Today, many employees still work from home in their pajamas, according to a recent survey conducted by Indeed in the UK. But remote working is no longer the only reason why the average person might slip into a pair of pajamas. Aside from going to sleep, how about going to work, going shopping or out with friends in your PJs? In 2023, pajamas have become a fashion item in their own right, just like dresses, jeans or skirts, so much so that some have even dubbed them the slacker’s answer to a suit.

2023 is all about the festive pajama party

From the Kardashians to the Beckhams, pajamas first became the star of celebrity wardrobes — more on that later — before taking over social networks. This can be seen with the #pajamaoutfit hashtag, which has clocked up almost six million views on TikTok. At the same time, the famous pajama party seems to have replaced traditional nights out among adults (over 570 million views). And that was all it took for brands to jump on the trend and come up with PJ styles, each more elegant than the next, transforming a nightwear staple into a must-have daytime fashion item. As a result, Kim Kardashian flaunted a satin ensemble on the street, Billie Eilish opted for Gucci pajamas with a matching sleep mask at the 2022 LACMA Art + Film Gala, and Katie Holmes was spotted in New York in a mismatched ensemble.

All of this suggests that pajamas are on the up and up, reflecting the casual chic — and cozy — style so popular with the younger generation. For several months now, comfort has been the watchword among social media users, across all domains. ‘Cozy cardio;’ for example, involves exercising in comfy, cozy surroundings, in pajamas of course, and while watching your favorite TV show. Then there’s the ‘coastal cowgirl‘ inspiration, a chic and cozy version of the famous cowgirl, and more recently — and globally — the ‘cozy girl‘ aesthetic has fostered a craze for snug clothes. This winter trend that proves we’re not done with pajamas yet. And with good reason: pajamas are now poised to make their mark on the most wonderful time of the year.

Pajama chic

This holiday, you won’t have to spend hours in front of your closet to find a sequined dress that’s “dressy but not too dressy” for the much-anticipated family dinner or a festive get-together. All the more so, given the environmental concerns surrounding sequins. Simple pajamas, on the other hand, might surprise most people as a festive wardrobe choice, but without being entirely out of place. One word of advice: your Christmas pajamas should, if possible, match those of the rest of the family, friends and so on. This makes for a much more photogenic — or Instagrammable — look that won’t go unnoticed. In fact, social networks are already starting to fill up with shots of Christmas pajamas of all kinds. The hashtag #christmaspajamas has already surpassed 150 million views on TikTok.

@oliviaalboher

mom got us matching christmas pajamas! yayyy #christmas #jinglebellrock

♬ Jingle Bell Rock – MARIYA

Already seen last year, the trend has made its mark among celebrities. As previously mentioned, the Kardashians and the Beckhams opted for this new kind of festive outfit for Christmas Eve — or at least in the photos they posted on Instagram — as did the families of Jessica Alba, Lily Collins, Kate Hudson, Heidi Klum, Blake Lively, and of course, the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey. These are just some of the public figures who are likely to slip into their PJs again this year and influence the holiday fashion choices of people everywhere. In any case, the trend is gaining ground, to the point where fashion brands are no longer just selling Christmas pajamas for children, but for the whole family.

From red and black checks to Santa Claus motifs, reindeer, elves, snowmen, fairy tale landscapes, fir trees and snowflakes — as well as much more chic satin versions — will be among the must-have items this holiday season, along with the (ugly) Christmas sweater, a possible alternative for anyone who wouldn’t dare go to show up at their host’s place in pajamas.

All about the Hermès family and the world-famous luxury fashion brand https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/hermes-family-what-to-know-about-the-luxury-fashion-brand-known-for-birkin-bag/ Wed, 13 Dec 2023 09:10:13 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1904897 Hermes family

Hermès International, or simply Hermès, has woven itself into the fabric of luxury for centuries with timeless products such as the Birkin bag and the aesthetically beautiful silk scarves. Its opulent creations, steeped in tradition and craftsmanship, have captivated the world’s elite, amassing a fortune for the Hermès family at the helm. But the story of the luxury fashion brand, which began with manufacturing exquisite leather goods, has gone on to create a family saga with the astute navigation of an ever-shifting world of preference and demand.

The Hermès family holds the keys to a legacy built on generations of excellence. Their commitment to quality, craftsmanship and innovation has secured their place at the pinnacle of luxury. Not much is known about the individual members of the family, but one, in particular, was in the news in mid-December 2023 after reports suggested that he is set to give away his fortune of around USD 11 billion to a gardener he wants to adopt.

All about Hermès: The brand and the family behind it

The rise of Hermès and its notable heads

The roots of the Hermès empire date back to 1837, when Thierry Hermès, a harness maker, opened his workshop in Paris’ rue Basse-du-Rempart. His focus was on catering to the equestrian world, crafting saddles and harnesses for carriages. The quality and craftsmanship of his work quickly gained recognition, securing him royal patronage and a reputation for excellence.

In 1880, Thierry’s son, Charles-Émile Hermès, moved the business to 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where he opened a store. In the early part of the 20th century, the family business came under the visionary Émile Hermès, son of Charles-Émile and grandson of Thierry. Émile was responsible for diversifying the business by introducing luggage, handbags and other leather goods to the house’s already-established reputation as a harness- and saddle-maker. In 1922, he gained exclusive rights to what is today known as the zipper. The zip was, therefore, added to many Hermès bags.

It was also Émile’s expansionary drive that laid the foundation for Hermès’s future as a fashion powerhouse. Between 1925 and 1928, Hermès introduced the first men’s ready-to-wear garments, jewellery, watches and sandals.

Robert Dumas, one of the four sons-in-law of Émile Hermès (who had no sons), became the head of the business in 1951. Dumas gained fame years ago by creating Hermès’s iconic silk scarf in 1937. Known as a canvas for intricate designs and vibrant colours, it has become a collector’s item and has been worn by fashion icons and royalty alike. Robert also created the Chaîne d’ancre bracelet, drawing inspiration from the moored boats in Normandy.

His son, Jean-Louis, took the helm in 1978. It was under his leadership that the house of Hermès entered new territories and acquired unique know-how, such as shoe manufacturing (with the bootmaker John Lobb) in 1976 and watchmaking in 1978 under the name La Montre Hermès. Later, Puiforcat silversmiths in 1993 and the crystalworks of Saint-Louis in 1995 were integrated into the brand.

The luxury fashion house also expanded its footprint around the world with the opening of numerous stores as well as Maisons Hermès during Jean-Louis Dumas’s leadership. One of the Maisons Hermès came up on Madison Avenue in New York City in 2000, which was followed by the Maisons Hermès in Ginza, Tokyo, in 2001 and another in Dosan Park, Seoul in 2006.

Axel Dumas, the nephew of Jean-Louis Dumas, became Executive Chairman of Hermès in 2013. The business was overseen by Patrick Thomas for a while before Axel’s elevation. Thomas was the Managing Director of the group from 2003 to 2006 and a close associate of Jean-Louis.

Under Axel, Hermès opened its fifth Maison Hermès in Shanghai in 2014, along with new stores worldwide. In 2022, a new Maison Hermès was opened at 706 Madison Avenue in New York’s Upper East Side.

Famous creations by Hermès

Though the luxury fashion brand is known for several iconic creations, it is particularly associated with bags. There are especially two that have secured an undisputable stature in the world of design — the Kelly bag and the Birkin bag.

The Hermès Kelly bag was designed by Robert Dumas in the 1930s but was not known by its now iconic name at the time. It was in 1956 when the handbag became a visible symbol of high fashion, elitism, class and, rather literally, royalty, when Grace Kelly, the princess of Monaco, was photographed with it. The resultant popularity of the bag led Hermès to rename it “Kelly” in honour of the princess.

The Hermès Birkin bag, on the other hand, was created in 1984 by Jean-Louis Dumas after a chance meeting with the British actress Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. Jane Birkin told Jean-Louis that she couldn’t find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Jean-Louis, who was the then Hermès executive chairman, quickly sensed an opportunity for a unique bag that would be supple and spacious. Thus was born the Birkin bag, named after Jane Birkin, with its rectangular holdall, a flap and saddle stitching.

The very first handbag created by Hermès was released in 1922. Before the Hermès Kelly bag, it was the Sac à Dépêches that enjoyed a famed standing. It was created during the time of Émile-Maurice in 1935 to satisfy his wife’s needs. Some believe that it was the Sac à Dépêches which was renamed to Kelly, but there is a lack of clarity on this.

The Constance is another iconic Hermès bag. Introduced in 1959, it was designed by Catherine Chaillet for the house and was named after her daughter. It is known for its distinctive large ‘H’ clasp.

Speaking of ‘H,’ Catherine Karolyi, the French stylist of Hungarian origin, created the famous ‘H’ buckle when she was in charge of handling the women’s wardrobe from 1967 to 1980.

Among other famous products by the luxury fashion brand are the minimalist Clic Clac bracelet with its signature double H clasp, the effortlessly chic Oran sandals, which were designed by Pierre Hardy for Hermès and released in 1997, and the Avalon throw blanket, which was launched in 1988.

Among the watches made by Hermès, perhaps the finest is the Cape Cod. Introduced in 1991 and designed by Hermès artistic director Henri d’Origny, the Cape Cod was inspired by Chaîne d’Ancre, a bracelet design created by Robert Dumas.

Such has been Hermès’s exclusivity in the world of horology that Apple partnered with the house on a special-edition Apple Watch in 2015.

At the time of the launch, Hermès’s artistic director and the son of Jean-Louis, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, remarked, “At Hermès, we strive to provide our clients with elegant, creative and functional objects for their everyday lives. What more contemporary and relevant expression of this principle could there be than this collaboration with Apple. We are strongly united by the same deeply held ideas and principles. I see it as the establishment of an alliance in excellence; like horse and carriage, a perfect team.”

The watch collaboration was one of the highlights of the illustrious legacy of Pierre-Alexis, who has been the head of the creatives at Hermès since 2005. Pierre-Alexis has been instrumental in several key design-related advancements at the brand. Among them are its first Haute Bijouterie collection in 2010 and the launch of home furnishing fabrics and wallpapers in 2011, with Pierre-Alexis being a driving force.

What makes Hermès famous?

The luxury fashion brand gained fame early on due to the meticulous handwork that went into the creation of each of its products. Besides its use of the finest materials and the deployment of time-honoured techniques, it is the particular tenet of handwork that has remained ingrained with the brand’s DNA ever since its creation.

It is also noteworthy that Hermès products are generally not mass-produced. Once upon a time, something as sought-after as the Birkin bag had a waitlist spanning years. But even though this may not be the case anymore, it is not easy to buy a Hermès Birkin or Kelly bag as demand always outstrips supply.

A post shared by Hermès (@hermes)

Moreover, as can be understood from the enduring status of both Birkin and Kelly bags, Hermès designs are not fleeting trends. They are classic and elegant. They transcend seasons and styles. It, therefore, builds an emotional connection between the brand and its customer, who often hold on to their Hermès products for life before passing them on as precious heirlooms to following generations.

A unique fact about Hermès is that, unlike many of its equally prestigious competitors, there are no famous faces as its brand ambassadors.

As such, Hermès continues to enjoy its position as a luxury reserved for the privileged few. This is one of the reasons why, according to a December 2023 report by Bloomberg, the brand has remained virtually unaffected despite a slowdown in the luxury goods market that has impacted even major players such as Bernard Arnault’s empire, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, or simply LVMH.

“Hermès has been successful by keeping its originality and singularity,” David Dubois, an associate professor of marketing at business school Insead, told Bloomberg. “The family is one of the secrets and principal assets of the brand’s success. They are the keepers of its heritage and know how to make it evolve without a revolution.”

“We are proud of our model, but remain modest; it’s the result of the commitment and talent of our teams across the world,” Axel Dumas, who is 53 years old, wrote in an e-mailed response to Bloomberg.

The net worth of Hermès family members

According to the Bloomberg report, the Hermès family is Europe’s richest with a combined fortune of USD 151 billion. The publication says that the rise in their fortune has been an astonishing 59 per cent. As of December 2023, the family is the third-wealthiest in the world ahead of mega-rich US families of the Mars and Koch empires as well as political powerhouses such as the ruling House of Thani of Qatar and the Al Sauds of Saudi Arabia.

Today, the Hermès family comprises over 100 members. However, there are only about 16 heirs who have a greater holding in the company, whose valuation is around USD 220 billion as of December 2023.

The two most important names among the family members are Axel Dumas and Pierre-Alexis Dumas, who are believed to be individually the richest among all. However, the net worth of the stake they hold in the family business is not known.

Other heirs include Jean-Louis Dumas’s 80-year-old cousin Nicolas Puech, the one who created headlines around the world in mid-December 2023 when it was reported that he was planning to adopt his 51-year-old Moroccan gardener and bequeath his USD 11 billion fortune to him.

There is no information about any other member of the family or their fortune.

Interestingly, it was also a decision taken by Peuch in 2011 that threw more light on both the family’s wealth and the infamous tussle the brand had with Bernard Arnault. In fact, as the Bloomberg report suggests, the Hermès family may have become much closer due to what they saw as Arnault’s attempt at taking over their business in 2010.

It was after Arnault acquired a 23 per cent stake in Hermès that the heirs, around 60 in total, came together to form the holding company, H51, with their shares and block LVMH from gaining more control over their luxury fashion brand. Among them was the then president of the company, Bertrand Puech the brother of Nicolas Puech. The entity at the time reportedly held over 50 per cent of the share capital and locked in family shareholders for several decades.

But Nicholas Peuch was one of the few family members who didn’t transfer their stock to H51. He quit the company in August 2014 over differences with the rest of the family members, but he still holds a minority stake of around 5 per cent or 6 per cent of the company.

A close look at his Forbes profile reveals that his fortune more than tripled since 2020, largely due to the extremely good performance of the Hermès brand.

Indeed, as Bloomberg underlines, the Hermès brand has grown exponentially since the Bernard Arnault episode. Their shares have risen more than 1,000 per cent since then. By contrast, LVMH has gained about 600 per cent in the same period.

As of the end of 2023, the luxury fashion brand has proved to be the best performer in the luxury sector with a 35 per cent gain in its shares, while LVMH rose 5.3 per cent and Kering, the owner of Gucci, saw a decline of 15 per cent.

Irrespective of how the reported decision by Nicholas Peuch affects the future of the Hermès family members, what remains certain is that the brand will possibly continue to be a testament to the enduring power of luxury, tradition and a commitment to excellence.

After Timothée Chalamet, other pieces from Vinn Patararin you need to check out https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/vinn-patararin-timothee-chalamet-troye-sivan/ Thu, 16 Nov 2023 12:00:49 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900944

Just a few days ago, the charming and talented Timothée Chalamet made his highly-anticipated return to Saturday Night Live (SNL). As always, he brought his A-game, showcasing his impeccable sense of humour in the Troye Sivan parody skit. And just like the ‘Got Me Started’ music video, Tim was seen wearing the same laser-cut tank as Troye from the Thai brand Vinn Patararin.

Vinn Patararin was founded by two long-time friends, Vinn ‘Champ’ Chokkhatiwat and Patararin ‘Fon’ Pongprasit. The duo met in Paris during grad school, where Champ studied architecture, and Fon was in fashion design. With Champ using the laser cut machine countless times, the couple was curious about the effects of this device on clothing— birthing their signature laser-cut motif. Today, Vinn Patararin is more than just a fashion house. They are a multi-disciplinary design studio producing cool clothing and homeware, as well as art and design installations.

Besides their laser-cut technique, this Thai brand is known for using many vibrant colours. For example, in one of their most well-known collections, they feature laser-cut two-toned pieces. Although it is one item, customers can wear it in two different ways. “I didn’t think colour would be our selling point, but it was another reason that made us more recognisable. It made our technique stand out, too,” explains Champ. With that, here are a few highlight pieces from Vinn Patararin you should check out.

Other pieces from Vinn Patararin you need to check out

We have to start with one of Vinn Patararin’s most iconic pieces, their two-toned laser-cut shirt. As this item has two different colours, you can show off your style and mood depending on what side you’re wearing. Plus, if you’re going on a trip, this shirt is a must-have. Not only will you have two different looks, but you’ll get to pack light(ish) too.

Another notable piece from this Thai brand is their ruffle blouse. The ruffles along the v-cut make this top super stylish. Their laser-cut technique applied here makes this ruffle blouse truly one-of-a-kind.

If you’re looking for some cute jeans with a perfect fit, Vinn Patararin’s straight leg denim is it. Not too low waisted and not too high, these trousers are perfect for daily wear. They also feature the laser-cut outline.

[Courtesy of Vinn Patararin]

If you’re looking for a cool mesh top, you have to check this one out. Although this shirt comes in neutral tones as well, the gradient hues just hit the spot. The laser-cut technique combined with the ombre effect just makes this Vinn Patararin piece unique. With Wonderfruit coming up soon, this top would make the cutest fit for both genders.

[Courtesy of Vinn Patararin]

Available in three colours (orange, white, and black), this halter bra is perfect for a beach day or just to lounge around. If you think the front is cute, wait until you see the back!

THB 3,950

If you’re looking for a bath robe with that extra oomph, this item is it. You can wear this as a cover up, to business meetings, events, or a casual brunch. We even saw someone wear this at a laser tag game. This particular item is a shirt version, but the brand also sells full robes too.

Priced at:

Despite Paris Hilton’s iconic quote “a skirt should be the size of a belt,” this one is a tiny bit longer. It has the brand’s signature laser-cut motif and comes in 3 different colours: white-brown, pink-blue, or purple-yellow.

If you love the tank on Tim and Troye, Vinn Patararin also has a mini dress with this cut-out motif on it. Available in both black and pink, this mini is so giving Y2K.

Tiffany & Co. and Daniel Arsham unveil a new Pokémon capsule collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/tiffany-and-co-daniel-arsham-pokemon-new-capsule-collection/ Wed, 15 Nov 2023 00:00:22 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900899

Fans of Pokemon need to have more accessories as Tiffany & Co. has dropped its latest collaboration with contemporary artist, Daniel Arsham. Here’s everything you need to know about their iconic blue Pokeball.

Tiffany & Co. just dropped its latest collaboration with contemporary artist, Daniel Arsham. The Pokémon-themed release is aptly called the Tiffany & Arsham Studio & Pokémon capsule collection.

It is draped in Arsham’s “Future Relics” aesthetic, where he reimagines everyday, mundane objects as archaeological discoveries from an imagined future. The result is a glistening beauty of signature Tiffany Blue colour wrapped around the iconic Poké Ball.

Tiffany & Co., Daniel Arsham, and Pokemon join hands for a one-of-a-kind capsule collection

The collection takes inspiration from Arsham’s five-series art exhibition in Japan, ‘A Ripple in Time’. It features a variety of Pokémon artworks to evoke the passage of time. The collection features nine jewellery designs, ranging from pendants to necklaces that highlight six iconic Pokémons. They are Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, Cubone, and Mew.

On the other hand, Tiffany & Co. designers crafted an oxidised sterling silver necklace with diamond accents featuring all six Pokémon. There are two different iterations of the necklaces, one in small and the other in a larger pendant size. Both are available in 18K yellow gold and also reimagine Pikachu’s signature yellow colour.

The Tiffany Blue Poké Ball is a league of its own

To top it off, the necklaces come in a Blue Box while a Tiffany Blue Poké Ball houses the gold Pikachu pendants. The collection displays unparalleled creativity, artistry, and design while reinforcing Tiffany & Co.’s longstanding collection of contemporary art and pop culture.

Arsham said, “We’ve recontextualised Pokémon…to orchestrate a new narrative” regarding the collection. He added, “With Pokémon and Tiffany, itself, there’s a sense of cultural permanence about each.”

The capsule collection will be available at the Tiffany & Co. Landmark in New York City, Omotesando store in Tokyo, and Tiffany.com in North America and Japan this December.

How Thai TikTokers are making elephant pants cool again https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/travel/asia/thai-tiktokers-making-elephant-pants-cool-again/ Mon, 13 Nov 2023 05:00:30 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900615 elephant pants bangkok tales thailand

Previously only seen on backpackers on Khaosan road, it looks like the notorious elephant pants are getting a personality makeover. Here’s how.

An elegant Thai socialite poses in sunglasses, a designer handbag discreetly visible in the Instagram photo, her stylish outfit completed by a pair of… elephant print pants?

Infamous across Southeast Asia, so-called elephant pants made of thin baggy cotton were once synonymous with grubby backpackers in search of themselves — and the nearest Chang beer, a popular local lager.

The pachyderm pants were adopted by foreigners during an early wave of budget Southeast Asia travel, as visitors sought to appropriate “authentic” culture, despite there being little truly Thai about them, researchers say.

While they are still sold from stalls alongside Bangkok’s tourist haven Khaosan Road for about 150 baht ($4), young Thai influencers and the kingdom’s high society are increasingly reclaiming them.

How Thai TikTokers are making elephant pants cool again

“The pants are dope,” influencer Dalintan “MoRich” Promphinit told AFP, after cavorting in a bright yellow set for his two million TikTok followers in April.

“They’re not just souvenirs foreign tourists buy,” he said. “Thais are rocking them too.”

“It’s like a fashion statement”, with a “teen street fashion vibe”, said the 19-year-old.

His fans instantly loved his latest look.

“They kept asking where I got it,” he said.

Elephant pants are ‘a sensation’

Posing at Chiang Mai‘s ancient wall, Toei, 27, who only gave her first name, is clad head-to-toe in the “adorable” elephant print.

“Initially, they were a hit among tourists, but now they’re trending on TikTok, thanks to influencers,” her 28-year-old friend Ong, also sporting the print, added.

“So, we embraced the trend.”

A half-hour drive away is Kingkarn “Jack” Samon’s factory, where rolls and rolls of pachyderm-inspired prints are measured, sliced and stitched.

“The pants have become a sensation in Thailand,” she told AFP during a tour of the facility, which has around 100 workers, producing 1,000-2,000 items daily.

Orders — including shirts, dresses, even handbags — are up 30 percent since the end of the Covid pandemic. The pants account for 85 percent of sales.

Hers is just a small cog in the kingdom’s textile and garment industry, which accounts for about three percent of its GDP.

Kingkarn imports the fabric from China, shipping it to Bangkok for printing, before it returns to her factory, 700 kilometres (430 miles) away.

The design’s popularity, however, has not been without controversy.

An online debate brought local reporters to her door after some Cambodians claimed Thailand had appropriated the elephant print, Kingkarn explained.

Refusing to be drawn on the latest iteration of the historic rivalry, she did admit with a grin: the debate has boosted sales.

‘Think Versace’

elephant pants bangkok tales thailand

Ultimately, little about the pants are Thai, said Kanjana Thepboriruk, an associate professor at Northern Illinois University’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies.

Their adoption by foreigners, attempting to stake a claim on “authentic experiences”, instead meant Thais viewed them as international, she said.

“I see the elephant pants as the latest way that young rich Thais or aspiring middle-class Thais align their identity with Westerners,” she told AFP.

And high-end retailers have quickly cottoned on.

Inside a luxury Bangkok mall, Bangkok Tales‘s elephant pants sell for 1,090 baht ($30).

“When people think about elephant pants, (they think of them as) really cheap, but I want to make them look like Versace,” explained founder and designer Rawiwan “Gigi” Worasinsiri.

Rawiwan initially targeted tourists, but the pandemic flipped her business model, with Thais filling the deficit.

“I was surprised,” she said, crediting TikTok for her success.

At the other end of the spectrum in Bangkok’s sprawling Chatuchak market, 32-year-old Onnitsa Kuren already owns three pairs.

“Elephant-patterned pants go with anything -– just pair them with a T-shirt,” she said.

Musing as she browsed, she added, “I’m currently on the lookout for a red pair.”

Of course, being in a boy band means going on tour, and Third’s favourite way to dress up at the airport is going for something comfortable, yet put together. Here he’s wearing a black tank top along with denim trousers and a jacket.

2

Heading to a fashion show

For this look, Third wears an all black pin stripe suit as he has a very exclusive fashion show to go to. To complete and elevate the look, he has on some Cartier products such as the love ring and the tank watch.

3

Taking a casual stroll around Shibuya

For this third look, the 24-year-old artist is wearing low rise oversize denim and a casual black graphic tee. Although this is quite a casual-relaxed look, Third likes to add accesories to elevate his outfit, giving it that extra oomph.

When you go on tour, you have to go all out and Third believes in that. Whether its your performance, energy, and style, it’s all about giving it your all. So for this world tour look, you can catch the artist wearing something eye catching like the glittery jacket and the fish net top under his white tank. And of course, lots of accessories.

Summarising their key attributes into a few takeaway points, consider it your entryway to dressing like your favourite haute heroes. And for November, we have three stars to analyse, one of which is Jackie-Jackrin Kungwankiatichai.

For our November 2023 digital cover, we are here today with Jackrin Kungwankiatichai, whom many know as Jackie. The 22-year-old Thai singer and model is currently a member of the T-Pop group TRINITY. He has guest starred in many Thai TV shows and played the leading actor in a few Thai series like You Are My Heartbeat (2022) and In Family We Trust (2018). So, without further ado, let’s find out how Jackie likes to style himself.

2

A luxurious watch can always elevate any look

As Jackie is a busy man, he always wears a watch to keep him on track (and to accessorise). For this look, he is wearing Cartier’s Tank watch, along with other Cartier items.

3

Winter is coming and that means sweater weather

As we’re approaching the cooler season, Jackie loves to wear something that will keep him warm. In this case, the 22 year old artist has a cute diamond pattern green and white sweater. To finish off this look, he pairs it with black trouser and sneakers.

4

Making a statement at concerts

Just like the other TRINITY members, Jackie loves to make a statement, especially when performing at his concert. Therefore, he’s going for a 70s look with some fringe and boots. So unique.

5

Beach time always calls for a vest

Although the knitted vest Jackie is wearing may be a bit hot, wearing no sleeves is a must when you’re at the beach. Jackie chose this brown and white vest as it’s breezy and gives that perfect comfort, yet polished look.

And for November, we have three stars to analyse, one of which is Porsche-Sivakorn Adulsuttikul.

For our November 2023 digital cover, LSA brings together TRINITY to talk about the band’s 4th anniversary of their debut as they’ve just finished their first full concert. Besides talking about their current updates and future plans, the boys also discussed their fashion sense. For Porsche, who’s the eldest one in the group, likes to wear something comfortable like hoodies, sleeveless shirts, and oversized tees on a day-to-day basis. And although that may sound quite casual, the 25-year-old artist told us he loves to elevate his look by accessorising, especially with Cartier’s Trinity collection.

The quirkiest Longchamp collaborations of all time https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/best-longchamp-collaborations-of-all-time/ Sun, 12 Nov 2023 02:00:27 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900574 longchamp collaborations

Unisex, customisable, and an incredible blank canvas, it is no wonder why Longchamp is a designer’s dream partner. Here are some of the most curious Longchamp collaborations of all time.

Longchamp is a French fashion brand that has really managed to put its handbags in the forefront for many years now. More wallet-friendly than the infamous high fashion brands from Paris, Longchamp has understood practicality and functionality in design for many years now. Whilst the house also produces clothing and smaller leather goods, its attention to its staple collections has never waived.

Le Pliage, Longchamp’s most beloved (entirely foldable!) handbag, has been subject to many collaborations over time, be it with artists or with other major fashion houses. Made with nylon, leather, and/or canvas, the collection is all about having fun, and celebrating the creative spirit of the French fashion staple. Below, we take a closer look at some of the best Longchamp collaborations in recent years — many of which are sadly not available anymore (though they may be found in pre-loved or secondhand market places).

The best Longchamp collaborations so far

Longchamp x Maison Filt

Could this be the most popular Longchamp collaboration of all time? Honing in on the trendy strong shopping bag trend, this partnership truly honoured French fashion style — in particular grocery run fashion style. For Longchamp x Maison Filt, the collection saw a series of handbag-turned-shopping-bags, pairing Filt’s netted design with the trademark leather handles and flap of the Le Pliage.

Longchamp x André Saraiva

Street artist André Saraiva launched his first-ever handbag collection with Longchamp in 2022 through this special collab. Celebrating French culture, a series of playful doodles adorn the bags in four sizes and styles, showcasing Saraiva’s signature Mr A and Mrs A characters. The massively smiling ‘AMOUR’ motif certainly turns any wearer’s frown upside down.

Longchamp x Emotionally Unavailable

Founded by Edison Chen and Kybum Lee, Emotionally Unavailable (EU) is a contemporary fashion brand. They first collaborated with Longchamp in 2021, touching on the humorous nature of both labels. The words “Been a CHAMP a LONG time” are playfully featured on several designs, and symbolise the open-minded attitude of both Longchamp and EU.

Longchamp x Pokémon

During the height of the recent Pokémon-mania, Longchamp announced a very special collaboration featuring the iconic Pikachu character. Going beyond the bags, the adorable yellow figure could be found on phone cases and scarves, in bold colourways of black and white, and even a special edition in red.

Longchamp x Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott has collaborated with Longchamp a few times, and his designs are still available on secondhand markets at pretty steep prices. In 2017, Jeremy paid tribute to mass media with the use of Marilyn Monroe’s image on the Le Pliage bag, and the words ‘As Seen on TV’ over the top. It was a limited edition bag, and sold out quickly.

Longchamp x Mr. Bags

This was perhaps one of the cutest Longchamp collaborations. To celebrate the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig in 2019, Longchamp partnered with Mr. Bags (or Tao Liang) for a series of pig-inspired bags. The influential Chinese fashion blogger drew inspiration from the animal in a number of ways: curly tails, pointed ears, and even an adorable snout.

Levi’s and Stüssy join forces for a new limited capsule collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/levis-stussy-second-capsule-collection-jackets-jeans/ Thu, 09 Nov 2023 09:25:09 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900213

Levi’s and Stüssy have come together once again for a second capsule collection in 2023 following the runaway success of a collaborative release earlier this year.

The American companies, both of which have their roots in California, use their new collaboration as a tribute to the rugged landscape of their home state.

Levi’s is renowned for its jeans, which was invented in 1873. The brand has a presence in over 110 countries today.

Stüssy, on the other hand, grew organically from youth movements in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its creator is surfer Shawn Stüssy, who went from customising surfboards for friends and locals in Laguna Beach, California, to creating T-shirts and shorts.

Today, the brand has established itself as a major force in clothing that both inspires (and is inspired by) a diverse range of progressive movements in art, music and skating from around the world.

More about the new Levi’s and Stüssy collection

Three unique colourways

The new collection features a range of limited-edition trucker jackets and jeans in three distinctive colourways: black, brown, and pink.

Each of the pieces have a washed vintage feel and appear unique. They have been created from jacquard fabric and finished with two-tone garment dyes.

Prices, when and where to buy the new Levi’s and Stüssy collection

The new Levi’s and Stüssy collection is available at Levi’s ION Orchard and levi.com.sg from 10 November 2023.

The trucker jackets are priced at approx. THB 9,171 while the jeans are priced at THB 6526 apiece.

What was featured in the previous collaboration of 2023?

Earlier in February 2023, the two brands unveiled their Spring/Summer 2023 collaborative collection featuring an iconic pair of 501 Jeans and a modified Type II Trucker Jacket.

Stüssy gave its beloved streetwear design aesthetic to both items of clothing, which are originally Levi’s creations.

The collaboration was launched to mark the 150th anniversary of the 501 Jeans. As such, the collection’s 501 Jeans came with an anniversary pocket flasher and a special edition pocket bag print.

Nike is suing Skechers and New Balance for Flyknit patent infringement https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/nike-sues-skechers-new-balance-for-flyknit-patent-infringement/ Thu, 09 Nov 2023 00:00:05 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900211

Here is why Nike is suing Skechers and New Balance for alleged infringement of their Flyknit patent shoe technology.

When it comes to lawsuits, Nike and its legal team are pretty ‘Swoosh’ about it, always ready to ‘just do it’ and take the course of litigation. This time, they are taking on competitor shoe brands New Balance and Skechers.

In separate legal filings on Tuesday, Nike has sued Skechers and New Balance, alleging that several athletic shoes from the latter and sneakers from the former are misusing Nike’s patented Flyknit shoe technology.

So, what’s all the fuss about? Well, here’s everything you need to know about this shoe-slinging showdown.

Why has Nike sued Skechers and New Balance?

nike flyknit patent

In these lawsuits, Nike asserts that both New Balance and Skechers are inappropriately using its patented Flyknit technology. For the uninitiated, Nike uses this technology to create its athletic shoes. This patented technology enables Nike to create high-performance uppers using fewer materials and generating less waste. Nike has claimed that some of the shoes in New Balance’s Fresh Foam, FuelCell and other lines are infringing on its patent rights. For Skechers, the lawsuit targets their Ultra Flex and Glide Step brands.

Nike is seeking an unspecified amount of monetary damages and a permanent ban on both companies from producing shoes that use this “infringing” knit material.

Nike is not new to these patent battles.

In the past, they’ve taken on brands such as PUMA and Adidas. They even had a legal tiff with Lululemon.

Interestingly enough, while Nike has gone after Skechers before for Flyknit patent infringement, this is the first time they’ve set their sights on New Balance.

What is New Balance and Skechers’ take on this lawsuit?

Nike says that they tried to resolve the issue with New Balance in January, but instead of resolving it, New Balance has “escalated the scope of its infringing activities.

New Balance, however, has now responded with a statement of its own. They argue that Nike is pushing the boundaries of its patent, stating that “New Balance fully respects competitors’ intellectual property rights, but Nike does not own the exclusive right to design and produce footwear using traditional manufacturing methods that have been in the industry for decades. We will vigorously defend ourselves against Nike’s attempts to enforce its patents beyond their lawful scope.”

As for Skechers, they have not issued any statement addressing Nike’s legal action.

What is Flyknit technology?

nike flyknit patent

Nike introduced its revolutionary shoe technology in 2012.

In case you are wondering what Flyknit technology is all about, it involves taking lightweight yet strong yarn strands and weaving them into a seamless upper. According to Nike, this process reduces waste by a whopping 60% and makes the shoes lighter. Beyond its eco-friendly properties, Flyknit is flexible and can be customised for different sports and activities to provide targeted support and structure. This technology is backed by several patents, with the first one issued in September 2012.

Stay tuned to this space for more updates on how this shoe saga unfolds.

9 Hermes Birkin-style bag alternatives for style that won’t break the bank https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/style/fashion/the-9-best-hermes-style-birkin-alternatives-for-sophistication-that-wont-break-the-bank/ Wed, 08 Nov 2023 00:00:10 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1899848

Looking for a Hermes Birkin-style bag? Everyone does. Here are 9 alternatives that can give you that sophisticated air without breaking the bank.

The Hermes Birkin bag is an indomitable style icon where conversations led by luxury arm candy is concerned. But as is the case with most of life’s finer things, the experience of owning one is only privy to a select few, owing to the bag’s scarcity and of course, high price point.

This is only further fueled by the bag’s origins, which are almost as fabled as Arthurian legend. Most notably, the French maison claimed that its design was conceived from a chance encounter between their then-CEO, Jean-Louis Dumas, with British actress Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London in 1983.

Repeated along the fashion grapevine, it was said that Birkin had been attempting to stow away a wicker basket that she had been using as a handbag, when it tipped over and caused all of its contents to spill out before Dumas’ feet. Keep in mind that at the time, wicker baskets were an essential part of Birkin’s wardrobe, as she preferred their capacity over traditionally daintier handbags from the period.

Quickly making a point to help her collect her belongings, Dumas joked that Birkin would need a bag with more pockets for her essentials. Birkin coyly responded by saying that if Hermès ever conceived a bag that could fit all her daily needs as a mother on the go, she would make no hesitation to trade her signature wicker basket in exchange for it.

That immediately gave Dumas the impetus to work on a design on that very same flight, where he sketched a rough outline of what would now become immediately identifiable lines of the Birkin bag on an airplane sickness bag. By the end of the flight, he showed it to Birkin, and the bag was put into production just a year after that.

While the Birkin has firmly cemented its place as the Holy Grail of handbag enthusiasts beyond the new millennium, it wasn’t the case during its introduction. As a brand, Hermès was considered to be a niche luxury fashion house that only the ultra-wealthy would be familiar with. Instead, Chanel dominated the sales charts with Karl Lagerfeld’s interlocking ‘CC’ Classic Flap bags. Sales. of the Birkin were initially steady, but otherwise slow in comparison.

But in the 1990s, interest in the Hermes Birkin style bag began to rise, reaching critical mass when fictional New York PR maven Samantha Jones was candidly informed that ‘It’s not a bag. It’s a Birkin!” on Sex and The City. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

Since then, the Birkin shape has gone on to inform a completely new generation of top-handle handbag styles, many of which feature similar stylistic cues as seen on the late-Francophile actress’ favourite accessory. This means that if you’re still saving up on your Hermès Birkin journey but want to still enjoy the chic sophistication it inspires at the same time, we have a few options you may want to consider to fill that void in your handbag collection.

9 best Hermes Birkin-style bag alternatives for sophistication that won’t break the banks

A new classic in its own right, the Saint Laurent Sac De Jour is perhaps our favourite alternative to the Hermès Birkin, and it isn’t difficult to see why. In more ways than one, this design introduced by then-creative director Hedi Slimane during his tenure at the label is highly evocative of the Birkin bag, down to its expandable gussets which are held together by leather sangles that are visible from the bag’s front fascia.

Of course, that isn’t to say that the Sac De Jour doesn’t offer more than just a few unique design details in itself, especially when considering the fact that its opening yields two main sections bisected by a (removable!) zippered pouch in the middle. What’s more, it is even sold with a crossbody strap, something which the Birkin lacks to this day.

For those shopping at an even more affordable price point, the Lee Radziwill bag makes the most sense as a Birkin alternative. Named after Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis’ equally fashionable sister Lee Radziwill, this bag is available in two different guises: a traditional top-handle, and a more casual (and capacious) tote bag.

In essence, the Lee Radziwill bags all bears the hallmarks of both the Birkin and Kelly, with its distinctive lock closure that once again mimics the sangles and touret design made famous by Hermès. But its the tote bag iteration of this design that truly shines with distinct identity with its ‘bag-within-a-bag’ construction.

From across the pond in London, the good folks at legacy leather-goods label Mulberry have also offered a contender in the Birkin alternative space, by way of the Bayswater bag. Introduced by Nicolas Knightly in 2003 during his stint as creative director, the original Bayswater top-handle is in itself, a visually distinctive design that bears Mulberry’s hallmarks, chief of which being the oval plaque hardware and ‘Postman’ turn-lock closure.

Extending beyond its satchel guise, the Bayswater has also been introduced in a tote bag shape with a redesigned closure that further hones in on the Birkin bag similarities by way of its redesigned closure that features, you guessed it, sangles.

4 /9

Celine 16

Having stepped away from Saint Laurent in 2016 before joining Celine in 2018, Hedi Slimane went on to introduce yet another Birkin-esque shape as his first order of business in the role. First seen on American pop diva Lady Gaga, the Celine 16 bag draws from an archival design from the label’s extensive history, but is updated for contemporary tastes.

While there aren’t any sangles to be found here, the aesthetics of the 16 bag are remarkably evocative of the Birkin, with its turn-lock closure and vertical rectangular plaque sharing a passing resemblance to the ones found on the Hermès bag. An accompanying clochette for its lock further adds to the visual similarities.

If your search for a Birkin alternative takes you to Rome, then you should definitely make a point to head into the nearest Ferragamo boutique and scope out the Studio bag. Debuting back in 2018, this top-handle tote has all of the qualities of an opulent, quiet-luxury accessory that shares some lines with the famed French handbag, especially in its general trapezoidal silhouette.

But Ferragamo has made a point of ensuring that the Studio bag retains a distinct identity of its own by way of a unique closure that incorporates its famed Gancini motif, in addition to practical details such as an external zippered pocket as well as a removable zippered pouch that is attached to the bag’s lining.

Ralph Lauren RL50

American designer Ralph Lauren is best remembered for exporting East Coast preppy chic ala the Hamptons to the world, with his signature suits, chinos, and Polo shirts defining an entire generation’s worth of Upper East Side trendsetters. Despite that, handbags from his eponymous label have often gone under the radar, in spite of their great value and superb quality.

This is the case with the Ralph Lauren RL50 bag, which boasts equestrian details such as the adjustable leather ‘belt’ and buckle detail on the front, which bear similarities to the Birkin’s sangles. A sense of distinct individuality to its shape is further accented through the introduction of two curved pieces of hardware that adorn the topmost edge of the bag.

Beyond the Lee Radiziwill lineup, Tory Burch has introduced a number of other satchel designs that are similarly evocative of the Birkin bag. A newer style by way of the Eleanor satchel is among one of the strongest contenders, with its strong, clean silhouette that eschews extraneous details in order to reinforce a sleek, uncluttered look.

While its shape may bear some remarkable likeness to its considerably more expensive French counterpart, the Eleanor easily stands its own in the luxury space with details such as the Tory Burch signature emblem hardware on the bag’s top edge setting it apart from others.

Birkin bags typically harbour a reputation for being more of a formal shape, given their structure and exceedingly high price point. This isn’t to say that you can’t use a Birkin bag in a more casual setting, but there is an option available from Tory Burch for those who desire an even more pared-down vibe that still retains some elements from the famed handbag icon.

This is most notable in its use of belted gussets on the bag’s sides, which once again are the most obvious visual tethers to the original Birkin design. Beyond that, this top-handle open tote number offers great capacity, with two main sections bisected by a zippered compartment. A crossbody strap ensures added utility.

Lastly on our list, one of Mulberry’s latest designs will similarly cater to those who are currently on the lookout for a Birkin alternative. Named after one of London’s most fashionable upper-classed districts, the Islington satchel carries all of the leathermaker’s signature design codes, but reinterpreted for the new decade.

Stylistically, it is hard to ignore the obvious parallels that exist between the Islington and the Birkin, most notably in its much smaller Postman’s turn-lock and sangles. With that said, the bag’s interior is thoughtfully considered, with an external slip pocket and two main compartments bisected by a stiff leather partition. Of course, you’ll also be able to tote this around on your shoulder or crossbody, with its adjustable strap.
