With 2024 marking Seiko’s 100th anniversary of having its name stamped on the dial, this Japanese watch brand is bringing back its most popular series, the 5 Sports Series SNZH5, to celebrate this grand achievement.
If you were a Seiko fan in the 2000s, you’d know that the SNZH5 series was a cult classic. And since this range holds a special place in the hearts of many Seiko lovers, the brand has revamped these watches to a more modernised version. Departing from the original matte look, these new timepieces contain a glossy finish that rejuvenates its blueprint, making it more formal, yet retaining its masculine aesthetics. The redesigned models also now feature a subtle curve on the dial and an updated LumiBrite.
Seiko unveils redesigned models of their beloved 5 Sports Series SNZH5
Adding to this cherished series come two models, representing the codes SPRK97K and SPRK99K. For the SPRK97K, this redesigned version comes with a striking dark blue sunray dial that resembles the original. However, the difference is the Hardlex top surface on the bezel, a metallic coating between the bezel and the glass. These new elements help play with the light, giving it a glossy and elegant appearance. It also comes with a white day-date window and the usual classic solid link bracelet.
As for the SPRK99K, this addition features a black dial with golden hour markers and hands. And like the SPRK97K, it also has a day-date window, but on a black plate, and a glossy finish. Overall, these redesigned models perfectly balance vintage allure with just the right amount of modern sophistication, giving Seiko’s cult classics a new breath of life.
