Onitsuka Tiger collaborates with Vaquera for their SS25 show at Paris Fashion Week

A collaboration that is anything but basic, check out Onitsuka Tiger’s pop-up on the runway of Vaquera SS25 during Paris Fashion Week.

As New York fashion brand Vaquera celebrates their 10th anniversary, founders Patric DiCaprio and Bryn Taubensee unveil a collection of wearable basics and a collaboration model of Onitsuka Tiger’s MEXICO 66. With Vaquera’s Spring Summer 2025 concept being “reinterpreting tradition from a futuristic perspective,” the iconic MEXICO 66 footwear reflects that as well. The shoes’ uppers, adorned with foil transfer and distressing, were meticulously handcrafted by artisans in Japan. Meanwhile, shiny silver words like “LOVE” and “RAGE” were stitched on the tongue to convey Vaquera’s spirit of “passion” and “ambivalence.”

Gracing the runway was a display of eight looks in two Onitsuka Tiger footwear colour combos, silver/off-white and yellow/black. Here, we saw a variety of unique silhouettes and a mix of materials that truly captured the vibrant essence and retro vibes of MEXICO 66, all while inspiring fresh and exciting styling ideas.

Now, for consumers waiting to cop a pair of these kicks, sadly, the designers commented how this first collaboration will not be commercially produced. On the bright side, this may be a hint for another partnership between the two fashion houses.
