Week in Geek: ‘Fallout’ is returning for Season 2

We’ll be back in the Wasteland soon with Fallout being renewed for Season 2. This is the week in geek.

The Henry Cavill-less The Witcher is gearing up for its next season—and apparently, will soon be ending. Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford are a little tense in a brand new photo for the new Captain America movie. GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive has fired many of its employees despite saying it was doing great last year. And finally, Fallout fans are in for a treat with the announcement of Season 2 for the show and the next-gen update for Fallout 4

It’s the golden age of video game adaptations. Prime Video’s Fallout was met with glowing reviews (we loved it too!). Unsurprisingly, the show has now been greenlit for a second season. No details yet as to when the show starts filming or when the release window will be but we’re excited to continue the journey of Lucy, The Ghoul, and Maximus through the Wasteland especially after that ending in Season 1 that left us with a whole lot of questions.

… and the next-gen update for Fallout 4 finally has a release date!

Due to the success of the game, there’s been an uptick of players returning to the Wasteland, and Bethesda is giving them a treat. For those revisiting Fallout 4, which was originally released back in 2015, the game developer has announced that it’s rolling out a next-gen update for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as well as an update for PC on April 25. It may not be the vast upgrade some are hoping for but it’s better than nothing.

Netflix’s The Witcher will end with Season 5

The Witcher’s social media accounts have announced the beginning of production for Season 5, showing Liam Hemsworth reading for the first time as Geralt of Rivia. They also announced that the show has been renewed for Season 5 and that it will be its last. People are still vocal about their disappointment after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role. Whether Hemsworth will be able to adequately play the role of Geralt is yet to be seen.

We have our first look at Captain America: Brave New World

Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford seem to be going head-to-head in our first look at Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World thanks to Entertainment Weekly. After taking on the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson must now contend with new threats and tackle the responsibility that Steve Rogers once carried. Harrison Ford steps into the role of Thunderbolt Ross (previously played by the late William Hurt) who is now the brand new President of the United States.

Take-Two Interactive has fired over 550 employees

The publisher of the Grand Theft Auto games, Take-Two Interactive, has laid off about five percent of its workforce despite its CEO saying there were “no plans” for layoffs. According to IGN, the publisher has also cancelled numerous projects that were in development. This is contrary to CEO Strauss Zelnick’s comments last year that the company was in “growth mode” after announcing GTA VI
