The best memes about Red Note and the TikTok ban

The internet is at it again posting their reactions and memes to the impending TikTok ban and Red Note, the app many Americans have migrated to.

The world is bracing for the loss of TikTok… Well, just America. And actually, the app is just being taken down from the App Store and Google Play but people will still be able to use it. Still, it’s a huge blow to those in the US. There are rumours that the ban might not happen what with Biden and Trump’s comments in the past few days. On top of that, there’s a rumour that the TikTok CEO is attending Trump’s inauguration. That remains to be seen though.

Many have taken to Red Note, another Chinese app (good job, US government), to fill the void that TikTok might leave in their hearts. Both American and Chinese users seem to be having a lot of fun interacting on the platform from Americans helping Chinese students with their English homework and Americans realising how much better some things in China are compared to the US.

Since it’s such a pivotal moment in history—after all, what would Americans do without the app that got the whole world through the pandemic?—the internet is, appropriately, full of memes and reactions about the TikTok ban and Red Note.

The mass migration of “TikTok refugees” to Red Note due to the looming TikTok ban has elicited a lot of reactions and memes on the internet. Almost everyone is making fun of the US government for driving people into the arms of an actual app owned by China. The “refugees” have made it clear they don’t care about the data the US government claims to be protecting with some even wanting to reunite with the “Chinese spy” assigned to them. Meanwhile, someone pointed out how users were learning Mandarin to go on Red Note just to avoid using Instagram Reels. Yikes.

There is a smattering of heartfelt moments like a Chinese family introducing themselves to an American family in the comments section and an American country band getting love from Chinese netizens.

We’ve compiled some of our favourite memes and reactions about Red Note and the TikTok ban right here. Enjoy.

Apparently someone on red note asked how much people pay for healthcare in China and they said now we know why they are blocking the internet from you

Have you tried not signing into law a bill that bans TikTok in the US?
