The cast will see the return of familiar faces and the addition of new stars. Lee Jung-jae reprises the role of the protagonist, Seong Gi-hun, and Lee Byung-hun as the antagonist, Front Man. Gong Yoo will continue as the recruiter, and Hwang Jun-ho will be the detective Wi Ha-jun, who turns out to be the brother of the Front Man.

Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Gyeong-seok (Player 246), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jung-bae (Player 390) and Jun-hee (Player 222) will join the cast as the new Squid Game players.

Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, with Gi-hun boarding a flight to Los Angeles to see his daughter with his new look, red hair, where he spots the Recruiter. He takes the invite to confront the Front Man, leading him to turn around with the passion to end the games for good. After three years, the second season shall show Gi-hun back as Player 456, driven to end the sinister games by participating in it one last time. The protagonist will face new challenges with a new set of games and even complex participants.

The gateway to South Korea, Incheon Airport, is the main international airport serving Seoul, built on reclaimed land between Yeongjongdo and Yongyudo Islands. It is a transport hub and filled with art and cultural museums like the Korean Culture Museum, Traditional Culture Experience Zone, Traditional Craft Gallery, and Arrival Hall Culture Street. Incheon International Airport turned to set for Squid Game 2, with reports of filming taking place as passengers navigated the airport.

Daejeon Expo Science Park

Visiting the Expo Science Park is one of the top things to do in Daejeon, as the landmark is a destination of fun and adventure for people of all ages. The massive amusement park has several tourist attractions like the Hanbit Tower, Daejeon Expo Memorial Hall, World Expo Memorial Museum, Daejeon Traffic Culture Institute, and even Squid Game season 2 filming studio.

All the major iconic sets from the show have been created at Daejeon Expo Science Park. Season 2 has a few changes in the set; the iconic ‘maze corridors’ that participants use to reach their challenges have expanded in size, featuring more colourful stairs. The massive and cold dormitory set will also be here, and for season 2, there will be a new addition of ‘X’ and ‘O’ zones, which will be essential to the narrative and plot of this season. Contestants will be forced to choose sides, setting the stage for intense conflicts.

The sinister games unfold on a remote island in South Korea. While the actual games were filmed in studios, the exterior shots used to depict the island’s isolation were filmed on Seongapdo Island. This crescent-shaped mysterious island lies near Incheon and is privately owned, just like in the show. It is not accessible to the public. The latest trailer portrays glimpses of the detective Wi Ha-jun on this island.
