In the comedy thriller K-drama‘s ending, we see Hae-il, Kyung-sun and Dae-young able to expose the corruption of Doo-heon. We also see the dramatic arrest of Hong-sik inside the National Assembly.
Much of the episode is dedicated to Doo-heon’s hearing in the assembly, where he is being questioned for his ties to Hong-sik and the murder of the former chief prosecutor. He uses blackmail and coercion to get other corrupt assemblymen on his side as well as a crippled mafia from Busan who knows about his dealings with Hong-sik.
On the other hand, Hong-sik, the drug lord on the run from authorities, manages to enter the National Assembly to kill Doo-heon, the priest and the rest. But he finds that he was conned by a Seoul arms dealer who sold him weapons which do not fire after the first shot. Hong-sik is subsequently subdued by the priest.
Doo-heon’s crimes are revealed to the assembly after the hard drives containing evidence of his dealings and his involvement in the killing of the former chief prosecutor are discovered by accident back in Busan by police officer Goo Jayeong (played by BIBI).
Everything ends on a happy note, but Kyung-sun resigns from her job and Dae-young is removed due to political pressure. Hae-il and Dae-young encourage Kyung-sun to enter politics to clean up the system. She agrees, but whether or not she wins the election is kept a secret through a hilarious sequence involving Yo-han.
Meanwhile, a priest from the Vatican arrives to present a gift from the Pope to the Gudam gang for their heroic actions. The priest also tells Hae-il that he is needed in the Vatican City.
Could The Fiery Priest season 3 happen?
At the time of writing, there is no official news of The Fiery Priest season 3 being in the works.
Fans, on the other hand, are hopeful that the makers might announce a third instalment as in the last episode we saw Kim Hae-il being approached to move to the Vatican. If season 3 happens, viewers are hopeful to see what is next in line for Hae-il and his team. Will we get to see the magnificent Vatican City and the surrounding Italian vistas?
However, The Fiery Priest season 2 was released on Disney Plus as a limited series, which lessens the possibility of a third season.
