XO, Kitty season 2 ending explained: What happens to Yuri Han in the finale?

The ending of XO, Kitty season 2 also exposes Stella’s truth. Kitty discovers that Stella is blackmailing Min-ho. For context, Stella’s real name is Esther and she came to KISS to ruin Min-ho’s father Mr. Moon, which is why she started dating Min-ho.

Years ago, Esther was evicted from the audition for a singing competition by Mr. Moon due to her looks. When her clip went viral, she underwent plastic surgery, changed her name and came to KISS for revenge.

In the last episode, Kitty learns from Min-ho that Esther is aware that his father is trying to keep his K-pop star half-brother Jun-ho’s affair with a backup dancer private. She uses the information to blackmail Min-ho to force his father into letting her win the singing competition — the prize for the winner is an opening act for Jun-ho on his next worldwide tour.

However, Kitty convinces Mr. Moon to let Jun-ho, who is actually in love with the backup dancer, make his relationship public during the singing competition. Once he does that, Esther is sent back home to Ohio by Mr. Moon’s security.

As for the results of the singing competition, it’s Eunice who wins and not Dae despite the latter’s rendition of “Seven” by BTS member Jungkook.

Is Kitty able to reunite her halmoni with her family in Korea?

Yes, she is, with the help of Min-ho, of course.

When Kitty informs Min-ho that Margot and her halmoni’s (grandmother) flight to South Korea has been cancelled at the last minute, he flies them to Seoul in his father’s private jet.

Throughout season 2, viewers discover why Kitty’s halmoni left Korea and moved to the US. She was disowned by her parents after her elder sister Soon Ja informed them about her relationship with an American man. However, when she moved to the US, the man married her and became Kitty’s haraboji (grandfather).

Before her death, Kitty’s mother figured that she had cousins who were still living in their family’s hometown of Bukjeon, Korea. This led to her writing letters to her cousin Simon and planning to reunite their mothers — something Kitty finished in the final episode of season 2.

In season 1 of XO, Kitty, viewers saw Min-ho confessing his love to Kitty on their flight to the US. In season 2, a flashback lets viewers into the aftermath of his confession. When Kitty says it’s too complicated since she just broke up with Dae, Min-ho thinks Kitty is not into him.

In the present timeline, Min-ho deliberately ignores Kitty for the first few days after she rejoins KISS. However, when circumstances (or fate?) bring them together, the duo end up becoming friends once again.

But how do they end up from “Oh god, no. We are not a couple, that’s disgusting” to “I think I fell in love with you. A little. Or, a lot”?

Throughout the first seven episodes of the teen romance drama, viewers see Min-ho handling Kitty’s rejection poorly. He also confesses to Q that because he had always maintained his playboy title and never laid bare his honest feelings for any girl before, doing that for Kitty was a big deal for him. So, once the new semester at KISS starts, he starts a rebound relationship with Stella.

While Kitty is initially happy for the couple, in the penultimate episode, she gets jealous seeing Min-ho with Stella at the prom party. This is when viewers see her repeating Min-ho’s lines from season 1 and confessing to herself, “I think I fell in love with you. A little bit. Or, a lot”.

In the finale episode, when Stella’s truth is out in the open, Min-ho once again finds it hard to wrap his head around the betrayal. Towards the end, he prepares to spend the summer break with his dad and half-brother. Kitty rushes to meet him at their campus park to share that Principal Lee extended her scholarship and she will be back to KISS the next year. “That’s great Convey”, Min-ho replies with a smile and hugs her one last time.

As he walks away, Kitty debates with herself if she should confess her true feelings, “Maybe it’s not our time. Not yet. Or maybe..” She chooses to finally go with her heart.

Season 2 ends with “Can I come home” by Highasakite playing in the background and Kitty calling out to Min-ho, “Wait, can I join you?”, to which he happily nods a “yes”.

Season 2 also surprises viewers with the return of Peter Kavinsky, the one true love of Kitty’s middle sister and the protagonist of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Lara Jean.

He visits Kitty at KISS to deliver the letters her mother sent to her cousin Simon before her death. That’s how Kitty learns about her mother’s plan of reuniting their family in Korea.

Additionally, Peter also meets Min-ho before leaving Korea. After Kitty introduces the duo to each other, Peter picks on the fact that Min-ho has feelings for Kitty and shares his thoughts with her, “He likes you still. He remembers every single word you ever said, but he still pretends to be annoyed when you talk too much. Classic.”
