Gather the girls and cosy up to watch these movies this coming Galentine’s Day.
Valentine’s is for the gals as much as it is for couples thanks to Galentine’s Day. The celebration, which shuns the romance of Valentine’s and instead celebrates the friendship of supportive women, actually originated from the comedy series Parks and Recreation. It has since become a day women all around the world actually celebrate. In anticipation of the upcoming festivities, we’ve listed out some films you and your girlfriends can watch to commemorate the momentous occasion. Here are the Galentine’s movies you can enjoy with the gals.

From Clueless to 13 Going On 30, here are some movies to watch with your girlfriends on Galentine’s Day
For a nostalgic Galentine’s: Clueless (1996)

What’s more entertaining than watching the 90s movie to trump all other 90s movies with your girls? Enjoy as Alicia Silverstone’s Cher goes about her school doing “good deeds” only for it to unravel in hilarious fashion. Protip: dress up in 90s fashion garb to really get in the spirit of things. And make sure your landline is off the hook so you and your girls don’t get disturbed.
For a classic Galentine’s: Mean Girls (2004)

There’s no argument that this movie belongs on this list. Cady and The Plastics’ hijinks, descent into chaos, and redemption will forever be a classic that girlfriends all around the world have enjoyed together for years. It’s insane to think that this movie is 21 years old but its legacy of teenage drama, questionable high school Christmas performances, and Amy Poehler being a cool mom lives on.
For a girlboss Galentine’s: Legally Blonde (2001)

Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods is nothing short of iconic. This movie about a woman who’s looked down on and proceeds to prove herself in hilarious fashion is a must-watch for Galentines, especially if you or your girlfriends have been through a similar situation to Elle. Oh, and did we mention that Jennifer Coolidge is in it too?
For a raucous Galentine’s: Girls Trip (2017)

It’s pretty obvious why this movie is on this list, but besides its straightforward title, it’s also just an enjoyable and hilarious watch. A group of girlfriends decide to go on a girls’ trip (duh) to escape their humdrum lives. They get more than what they bargain for as the trip descends into chaos but it turns out that’s exactly what they need.
For a raunchy Galentine’s: Bridesmaids (2011)

There’s a good reason why this movie is considered one of the best comedies that’s been released in recent years. Before Bridesmaids, the general perception of so-called “chick flicks” was that they were all cheesy and sappy. This movie broke, burned, and obliterated that to smithereens. It’s a raunchy R-rated laughfest like only Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Melissa McCarthy can bring.
For a romantic Galentine’s: 13 Going On 30 (2004)

It’s been more than twenty years since this movie was released and yet we still ship Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. It’s why we went gaga when they reunited for The Adam Project as Walker Scobell/Ryan Reynolds’ parents. But there’s nothing like reliving their original pairing when Jennifer Garner portrays a 13-year-old in a 30-year-old’s body realising that perhaps the life she’s always dreamed of having when she grows up isn’t all that.
For a satisfying revenge Galentine’s: First Wives Club (1996)

Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler in one movie. Whoever came up with the idea to put these three legendary ladies together was a genius. This film follows three women who come up with a plan to get back at their ex-husbands who replaced them with younger partners. Cheer them on with your girlfriends then top it all off by singing along with them to “You Don’t Own Me” at the end.
For an explosive Galentine’s: The Expendables (2010)

There’s nothing like gathering with your girlfriends to watch Sylvester Stallone and friends dodge bullets, kill bad guys, and walk away from explosions. You also have the litany of classic action stars making cameos that will either make your girlfriends squeal in delight or scratch their heads because they have no idea who they are. Nothing like a good ol’ action movie to bring the gals together.
