Via Emilia

Get ready to tuck into delights from the Mediterranean region at this new Italian restaurant in town. Situated in Sathorn, Via Emilia is helmed by Chef Stefano Merlo (from Sensi) and owner Andrea Bernadi, and offers up various regional dishes from Emilia-Romagna. Bringing a fresh taste to the Italian food scene in Bangkok, must-tries include the homemade meatballs, fried mixed seafood Fritto Misto, breaded veal chop Cotoletta alla Petronia,  and fresh made tortellini.

Via Emilia, 1040 Soi Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra 17 Yaek 5, Bangkok, +662 676 4466; Open: Mon-Sun, 11:30 am-2:30 pm for lunch and 5:30 pm-10:30 pm for dinner.

ASOK Pi Shop

Flatbread gets an upgrade at ASOK Pi Shop. The flatbread-focused restaurant offers a scrumptious riff on what would normally be considered a supporting actor in regular meals. Here, the naturally leavened flatbread is in the spotlight and it gets all the drool-inducing toppings your palate could ever dream of tasting.

ASOK Pi Shop, 116, 8 Soi Sukhumvit 23, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok, +6688 979 5436; Open: Tue-Sat, 5-11 pm.

Petits Plats

Tuck into French Mediterranean delights at Petits Plats. Created by the great minds behind Vaso-Spanish Tapas Bar, Burger & Lobster, and more, the restaurant exudes proper French charm touched with a fun flair from the Mediterranean elements put in each dish. The high ceilings and fun artwork are another reason to visit.

Petits Plats, Velaa Sindhorn Village, 87 Langsuan, Lumphini, Bangkok, +6662 246 4466; Open: Mon-Thu, 12-2:30 pm for lunch and 5:30-10:30 pm for dinner; Fri-Sat, 12-11 pm; Sun, 12-10:30 pm.

Aromkwan

When it comes to cooking techniques, nothing is sexier than smoking. Aromkwan serves up fire-fueled meals featuring Southeast Asian ways of smoking served in (or on) banana leaves. Highlights include Smoked Pork Knuckle Biryani, Smoked Mutton Biryani, Hay Smoked Wings, and more. They sell out quickly so keep an eye out on their Instagram for ordering online or book in advance for dining there since seats are limited.

Aromkwan, 297/2 Sukhumvit 49, Bangkok, +6688 495 8213.

Yuzu Suki

Not super-duper new but sure worth mentioning. Yuzu Suki within Siam Center is another branch following the Yuzu brand’s success with Yuzu Ramen, Yuzu Omakase, Yuzu Sushi, and more. The new venue is Yuzu’s sleek take on a Japanese shabu that delivers all the drool-inducing elements to your pot. We recommend going for the wagyu beef A5 set to please your inner carnivore.

Yuzu Suki, 2 FL, Siam Center, 414 1 Rama I Road, Pathum Wan, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, +662 077 5905; Open: Mon-Sun, 10 am-10 pm.

Kankanit Wichiantanon

Writer, Bangkok

Kankanit is a writer by day and a baker by night. If there’s one thing you should know about her, it’s that she can wax poetic about food 24/7. Her daily routine is writing, cooking, eating, repeat. They are the things that inspire her from morning 'til night.
