7 fresh new cocktails to try this summer in Bangkok

With temperatures constantly on the rise in Bangkok, we can’t think of a better excuse to cool down with a fresh, delicious cocktail. In addition to our monthly roundup of the best places to drink in town, we’ve put together a list of refreshing cocktails specifically made for summer sipping. From tea-based creations to mango sticky rice-inspired cocktail, here’re some of the best summer drinks to help you stave off the heat — fresh flower, dehydrated fruit and flavoured ice cubes included.

Ice Blossom

True to its name, this floral drink presented in edge wine glass is a combination of Hendrick’s gin, an oversized, beautiful edible flower ice cube and is topped off with crisp chardonnay, before being garnished with a fragrant elderflower. A spray of amaro mist over the cocktail at the end gives it a bitter aftertaste, which surprisingly matches with summery flavours.

Jessamine Tea Julep

There’s nothing like a glass of cold iced tea on a hot summer day. That being said, a few cocktails wouldn’t hurt either, so why not have both? The ultimate summer aperitif, Jessamine Tea Julep at Tables Grill is a crisp, refreshing cocktail made with Dassai Junmai Daiginjo Sake, Aromatic Wine, Jasmine Tea. Light and easy-drinking, this delicious libation is the perfect drink to have before indulging in their charcoal grills.

Just Mine

Known for housing the city’s largest selection of gin, Abar rooftop takes gin-based cocktails to a new level with its House Signatures, which comes in straight up, on the rocks and standing tall. Our favourite is Just Mine, a thirst-quenching combination of an unlikely pair; Jasmine flower infused Beefeater gin and Chardonnay. With the sweet and sour notes from melon syrup, fresh lime juice and a splash of soda, it’s the perfect respite from the summer heat.

Gin Mule

If navigating ABar rooftop’s ever-expanding gin menu doesn’t sound like your thing, your best bet would be Gin Mule. Here, mixologist Saimai Nantarat conjures up the signature cocktail with Beefeater 24 gin, and the citrusy note of homemade kaffir lime syrup and fresh lime juice make it a perfectly refreshing sundowner as you soak in the Bangkok skyline from the rooftop bar.

Cheek to Cheek

Who says cocktails have to be completely unhealthy? Invented in honour of the famous Jazz queen, Ella Fitzgerald, this orange hued brew contains probiotics from kombucha, with a mix of Don Julio Reposado, cinnamon, kombucha, falernum, kalamansi and tonka. This stiff drink will loosen you up in a jiffy as you soak up the jazz at The Bamboo Bar.

Mango Sticky Rice

Nothing makes a better summertime treat than mango sticky rice and Distil Bar’s creation inspired by our favourite Thai dessert does the trick with a kick of premium cachaca and coconut rum. An exotic blend of almond syrup, fresh mango shake served with jasmine-mango-almond flavored ice cubes and flavored ice lolly, the natural ingredients and local flavours are on point in this refreshing cocktail.

Flavourful and potent, Distil’s summer sipper is a sultry red concoction garnished with iced berries. A mixture of Havana 7 rum, cinnamon, cherry liqueur, topped off with with a splash of Angostura bitters, the dreamy cocktail is served over cherry ice cubes and presented with an insta-ready smoky effect.
