Much like a doughnut, the bagel shares a friendly, crowd-pleasing quality that almost everybody loves. Though Bangkok is no New York and our bagel supply isn’t as varied, the city has been waking up to fresh bagels and good coffee in recent years. Whether you like yours smeared with cream cheese or protein-packed to perfection, here’s where to find the best bagels in Bangkok right now.
Something about this boiled-then-baked specialty always comforts us. First found in Poland, the beigel (and now ‘bagel’) comes with a shiny crust and chewy insides. The craze helped to spread its popularity throughout Europe and North America.
Although there are only a handful of eateries and bakeries specialising in bagels in Thailand, they do make delicious versions that will sure satisfy your bagel needs. So here it is, a list of places to get the best bagels in Bangkok.

Ari bakery Volks churns out a repertoire of classic American-style bagels with options of succulent spreads. Of course, the main players here are the bagels, spanning Cinnamon Raisin, Blueberry, Asiago Cheese, White Sesame, Garlic + Olive Oil, Crispy Onion, and more. You can get them smeared with Black Pepper Fig, Honey Walnut, or even just the classic Cream Cheese. Recently, Volks also opened in Ayutthaya, spreading the bagel love across Bangkok and beyond.

With a name that includes ‘Sarnies’ and ‘sourdough,’ you know you’re in safe hands. After successfully luring us to coffee and brunch, Sarnies Sourdough is the more specialised bakery (sourdough by day, pizza by night, FYI), delivering some truly top-notch bagels. The New York-style bagels here are processed over 3 days, ensuring they have the right texture. Therefore, we recommend you do it classic, and order the smoked salmon and herbed cream cheese rendition. For the more adventurous, they also have other toppings, of course.
Sarnies Sourdough, 42/1 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok, +66 2 550 6107. Open daily 8am-10pm.
If you’re already a regular brunch-goer at Roast, you may be familiar, but even if not, it’s always handy to bookmark Monty’s. The bagel expert opened during the Covid-19 lockdown, baking fresh and delivering daily Montreal-style sourdough bagels. Favourites include The Reuben, the signature Monty’s, and the Breakfast Bagel. A classic always cuts it.
Monty’s by Roast, theCOMMONS Thonglor, Sukhumvit; Open daily 9am-4pm.

For those who wish to expand their bagel horizons, tuck into the Middle Eastern version of the bread, called the “Jerusalem bagel” which comes in a long, oval shape.
