Halloween is right around the corner which means everyone is starting to buy, craft, or gear up for their costumes. Or maybe you’re still stressing out about what you and your friends are going to wear. Instead of reverting to the good old Christmas outfits from Mean Girls (it’s a classic but you gotta shake things up), here are some group costume ideas that you and your friends could go for this coming Halloween.

The emotions from Inside Out

This is an easily recognisable costume that even those who aren’t fans of the movies will know. Plus, it gives you an excuse to act out as the emotion for the day at work. Am I really going to be reprimanded for smashing my laptop when I’m embodying Anger? I will? Someone’s not into Halloween festivities.

For a fun little twist, you can also consider doing the emotions of a millennial. One of them is definitely Apathy.

Pros: Your friend group definitely embodies one of the emotions from the movie
Con: The face/body paint

The kitchen crew from The Bear

If you’re looking for an easy costume that’s still a great pop culture reference then get your white T-shirt and a blue apron to embody the crew of The Bear. It’s easy enough to buy all the items you need (it’s really just a white shirt and a blue apron). If you want to look a little more like Carmy, consider some fake tattoos on your arms. To really sell it, yell profanity at your friend group while referring to them as chef and scream “BEHIND” and “CORNER” whenever appropriate. 

Pros: Easy on the wallet
Cons: Lots of swearing and trauma

The Roys from Succession

Yes, I know Succession ended last year but I believe a lot of people, including myself, are still not over it, which makes it a viable costume idea. It’s another easy costume to put together since it’s really just suits but that also poses the challenge. People might just think you came to the party in suits. You and your friend group will have to make yourself distinctly Roy-like. Maybe you can crawl on the floor and oink. 

Pros: You probably have an outfit in your closet already
Cons: Making it obvious that you’re the Roys and not just wearing office attire. Also, swearing and trauma again

Taylor Swift and her dancers

There’s bound to be a bunch of Taylors this year along with Taylors and Travises as a couples costume. But as a friend group, you can consider being Taylor and her dancers in The Eras Tour. Bonus points if you prepare and entire number from the concert. Even more bonus points if you someone dresses up as Travis in the tuxedo. 

Pros: Swifties will love it and no one will dare disagree with the Swifties
Cons: Costumes may not be easy to come by

Characters from Bridgerton

No sorrows and prayers will be offered when you and your friends strut into the party with your Regency-era costumes. Bring the glitz and glam of Bridgerton and make everyone else swoon with jealousy knowing there’s no way they could top what you and your friends have done. Just please don’t recreate the mirror scene from this season, at least not in public. 

Pros: There’s no doubt you’ll definitely stand out in the crowd
Cons: The costumes will probably be pricey and pretty uncomfortable

Little Antonio and his parents from SNL

Ariana Grande’s latest guest hosting stint on SNL was yet again another comedic triumph proving that the artist should really do more comedy since that’s where she started anyway. There were many iconic skits in the show but perhaps the most iconic is when she played Little Antonio who, uh, lacks certain somethings to make his voice higher thanks to his parents “a-twisting” them off. The hair is also an absolute banger. 

Pros: Those who get it will get a “little-a twist” of hilarity
Cons: Your audience needs to be familiar with SNL

Agatha Harkness and her coven of witches

Is it too on the nose to dress up as witches for Halloween? Perhaps but these are the MCU’s latest additions to their witch list. Plus, the witches don different attires when they face the trials on the Witches’ Road so that gives you a number of outfits to choose from. Personally, the glam rock outfits are the ones to go for. 

Pros: Witches and Halloween—it’s the perfect costume
Cons: No one is going to be as hot as Aubrey Plaza
