Bangkok is already gearing up for pride month with Bangkok Pride Festival 2024

Naruemit Pride organised Bangkok Naruemit Pride Parade back in 2022, and it was met with glowing reviews of queer people and allies of Bangkok as they marched down Silom Road. Even Bangkok’s governor Chadchart joined the parade.

This year, the stakes are higher than ever. With the marriage equality bill being one of the hotter topics among the community, this event aims to push for the bill to be passed and come into effect by the end of this year. Thailand will be the first country in Southeast Asia to achieve marriage equality if that is the case. The success of the event will also contribute towards pushing Bangkok to be a potential host for WorldPride in 2030, affirming the city as one of the top LGBTQ+ destinations of the world.

The parade is scheduled for 1 June, 2024, from 3pm onwards, taking place on Rama I road. Participants will begin their walk at the National Stadium Supachalasai, passing by the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Siam Discovery, Siam Center, Siam Paragon, and Wat Pathum Wanaram, before ending the parade in front of CentralWorld as they take a turn at Ratchaprasong intersection.

The event organisers have also teased ambassadors, drag shows, an array of performances, and a whole lot more.

Pride is not just about the LGBTQ+ community coming together in one place, Pride is about creating a space for individuals of different genders and sexual orientations. It’s about helping the kids shunned by their families, people scared to come out, and for those who are still unsure if who they are is alright by societal norms. As long as one person that fits those descriptions still exist, Pride is still important.

Registration for Bangkok Pride Festival 2024 will be open on location and online at Bangkok Pride.
