Personalised LGBTQ+ matchmaking service HEDER is coming to Thailand

HEDER describes itself as “Asia’s first physical dating agency for gay men.” With its roots in Taiwan, they boast an extensive member database of 20,000 singles with an 80% success match rate.

Once you register, you’ll get to talk with their expert consultants — what you like, what you don’t like, and so on. Then, your data will be put into their database with other singles, looking at who is the best match for you to go on a date with. Think of Indian Matchmaking but with less bias and fewer conservative values.

As Thailand’s House of Representatives passed the same-sex marriage bill earlier this year, HEDER announced its newest expansion into Thailand. They aim to help the local gay community, which is big in number even by empirical value, to find more meaningful connections and dating opportunities.

This kind of personalisation is the touch many find lacking when it comes to dating, especially when a lot is done through online platforms. So, this potentially creates not only an effective dating service, but also a safe, non-judgmental space. We all have a moment when we’re reluctant to post a photo because we’re scared we don’t look as good as we might think.

In a statement, Spencer, HEDER’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “We’re excited to bring HEDER to Thailand. We hope our services can help more individuals find their ideal partners and build a bright future together.”

To celebrate the new expansion into the Thai market, the group announced that any Thai members registering with them before June are entitled to a complimentary round-trip ticket to Taipei to attend the 2024 Taipei Gay Pride Parade.
