Holey Artisan Bakery

Look at that crispy goodness. Aside from being a provider of some of the best breads in town, Holey Artisan Bakery’s croissants are super light, and wonderfully flaky. They’re all made with French butter. Grab the classic, as you cannot go wrong, or opt for the chocolate croissant that goes amazingly well with their coffee. The pet-friendly venue also makes for a great hang out space.

Amantee

“Amantee” is translated to “peaceful space.” They’re a cafe selling bread and wine, a gallery filled with Oriental and Tibetan antiques, and a bakery working in partnership with French bread specialist Benoit Fradette. Not surprisingly, their croissants are soft, light, and with buttery taste in every bite. With decent portions that come with great price tags, any of their croissants would be great for any occasion.

Kenn’s Coffee & Croissant

Our editor swears by Kenn’s, as it’s the croissant spot in town closest enough to, and we quote, “take me back to Paris in the 90s when I was a young girl and accessorised with croissant flakes all over my sweaters.” This little cafe is just off the path from the ever-chaotic Sathorn area, with a brick-layered exterior and quotes about love written on a chalk board inside. Apart from being a portal to a Hallmark movie, Kenn’s serve up coffee and croissants, just like the name. They also do limited-time croissants every month, which makes for yet another reason to go back.

PAUL

Despite knowing the star of Gladiator II, and host of international reality show with drag queens, this one is our favourite Paul. Using time-honoured production methods since 1889, Paul cafes can be found all over the world, and now seven branches in Thailand. Their standards have never faltered, and we simply love their croissants. Their crispy, airy butter croissant is best with a coffee in the morning, but the chocolate ones make for the perfect guilty pleasure. If you need something more filling, the ham cheese croissant makes us feel an overwhelming sense of regret writing this article late at night.

Started in Paris in 1996, Maison Eric Kayser was founded by a French chef and cookbook author of the same name. Now with locations all around the globe, they make the ultimate French breakfast pastry their signature, with delicate, airy layers on the inside, and crispy goodness on the outside. Each is made with their housemade sourdough starters, and laminated carefully using their dough makers. If you’re looking for something as gift, their assortment of 10 mini Viennese pastries will make anyone’s day.

Tiengna Viennoiserie

Tiengna Viennoiserie caters to all; whether you’re looking for a full-on brunch experience, or just starting your day with your favourite Viennese pastry. Of course, the classic croissant or the almond croissant never go out of style. However, their yuzu croissant, or the croque monsieur using croissant as a base, made us see heaven for a few moments. They also feature a selection of very serious chocolate drinks — great to pair with, well, anything from the menu.

Kokopan

Kokopan may not be the most traditional choice for croissants in Bangkok — after all, they’re a Japanese-style cafe — but the essence of a good croissant instills firmly within here as any serious viennoiserie. They offer an array of mini croissants, baked till crisp, and filled with various flavours. Highlights include double milk cream, salted egg, matcha, and creme brulee. Be sure to also have their croffle with ice cream on top.

KEV Croissant and Coffee

As the same suggests, KEV serves up croissants and coffee, and they really do it well. They pride themselves in the process of croissant-making, handcrafted wherever they can be, and freshly baked on site with ingredients imported from France. This results in a feather-light, buttery croissant, with an exterior flakier than your ex. No crazy flavours, as we know, but their classic croissants and almond croissants will hit that sweet, sweet spot.

La Cabra Thailand

Born in Aarhus, Demark, La Cabra is a coffeeshop and bakery providing soul-soothing pastries and coffee they roast on their own. Their croissants, dare we say one of the best in Bangkok, are flaky and caramelised on the outside, and light and buttery on the inside. That’s what you get when you bake fresh each day with good ingredients. We recommend their first location in Talat Noi, but their Ari and Silom locations are not to be missed, either.

Sarnies

The Sarnies brand sure has amazing pastries available all over town, and that, of course, includes their amazingly crispy and flaky croissants. There are even gluten-free options for those who need them. Although there are croissants at all Sarnies locations, we strongly recommend heading over to Sarnies Sourdough for their sourdough croissants, as well as their croissant sandwich menus. The smoked salmon croissant with cream cheese, pickled onions, and herb salad hits hard.
