This year, Thailand has found a woman that represents beauty, grace, and charisma. Opal Suchata has won the title of Miss Universe Thailand 2024. On her head is the “Starlight Crown,” provided by jewellery giant Mouawad, and the opulent trumpet dress is crafted and rhinestoned to the Gods by Rian Fernandez.
Opal was born in Phuket, with a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Thammasat University. She’s proficient in Thai, English, and Chinese, and she is 20 years old as of the time of winning the title.
With a 180-cm height, she started her career path in modelling before starting to compete in local pageants. In 2022, she competed for the title of Miss Universe Thailand for the first time, and she was third alternate.
She had to go through surgery when she was 16 because of a 10-cm lump in her chest. After fully recovering, Opal became a voice for breast cancer awareness, the number one leading cancer for women around the world.
Opal represented Thailand on 17 November at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, Miss Universe 2024, held in Mexico. Out of 127 competitors, she placed as third alternate, and received the special “Voice for Change” Silver award.
Denmark beauty queen Victoria Kjær Theilvig has been crowned Miss Universe 2024, followed by Chidimma Adetshina from Nigeria, and María Fernanda Beltrán from Mexico, respectively. The winner was crowned by Sheynnis Palacios, Nicaraguan model and crowned queen of Miss Universe 2023, as her successor. Thailand, unfortunately, has not scored a Miss Universe win since Porntip Nakhirunkanok in 1988.
