Weekly Obsessions: Prada’s Airpods holder, Rimowa’s new trunks and more

As editors at Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new luxury goods daily, but with so many new releases rolling out all the time, it’s all but impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s what you’ll find in Weekly Obsessions: a running list of highly covetable items we’re currently mad about — because if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours, too. From the must-have fashion pieces of the moment to age-defying beauty products, scroll down to see what our editors are obsessing over this week.

Prada Airpods/earphones holder

With Airpods and other wireless earphones becoming almost essential accessories for any smartphone user, more and more brands are launching their editions of tiny pouches that will help us store them in fabulous fashion. I’ve recently got my eyes on one by Prada (HK$3,200), available at the brand’s new ‘Dreamscape’ pop-up store (currently open at Atrium 1, Harbour City and running through 13 Jan). It’s quite an ingenious 2-in-1 design, featuring not only the AirPods pouch — in colours including pastel blue, pink, red and black — but also an adjustable rubber strap that allows you to attach it to the back of your phone for easy access. The one small problem for iPhone 11 Pro Max users such as myself is that the elastic straps cover the third camera slightly, so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if they launch an adjusted version in the future. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor

Nike ACG Moc 3.0

Whilst I certainly won’t be bringing our readers up-to-the-minute coverage of 2020 sneaker releases — that honour falls to our men’s contributor Alexander — I’m also not immune to the excitement of a cosy new pair of creps. Nike ACG’s rework of their 1994 moccasin style (HK$745) fits that bill, making its debut in the new decade with a revamped upper and numerous comfort-enhancing tech. Originally designed for use in the great outdoors, the Moc ‘3.0’ is reenvisioned here as a consummate urban shoe, built with Solarsoft cushioning and a gum outsole for seamless all-day wearability. They mightn’t be the best accompaniment to your next hike or camping trip, but why let healthy lifestyle choices muddy your priorities? —Randy Lai, Watches Editor

Rimowa Essential in Berry and Glacier

Owning a Rimowa has always been a matter of expressing your personal style — previously, it was all about personalising your luggage with stickers and mementos from all over the world. Some preferring a more clean aesthetic will surely appreciate Rimowa’s new striking shades that are influenced by journeys all across the world. Like a colour-field abstractionist would see a particular locale, these seasonal suitcases look to the fjords of Iceland for inspiration. The deep berry hue recalls ‘foraging across the fjord of Hvalfjörður’, while the icy blue — not quite yet Tiffany Blue but surely bringing it to mind — is a crisp colour inspired by Icelandic glaciers. Honestly, the tone on tone fixings of the Rimowa Essential in Cabin, Check-In and Trunk Plus sizes are all gorgeous, and I’d deem to get one of each colour if I could. For me, matching your suitcase to your destination is just simply endearing, and I can almost see the deep purple perfectly set against a sunset margarita in Cancun, or the glacier-blue against a sakura-filled sky in Tokyo (my next coveted destinations for 2020). —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor
