Chugging down a pint while pondering the delicate nuances of gender performativity through Judith Butler’s written works was never a fantasy we thought we’d get to live out. However, now a new event in Bangkok titled ‘Books & Beers’ is set to change that.

Books & Beers 2024 dates and location

The inaugural event will take place from 26 July – 4 August, 2024, 11am-9pm at Singha Complex building, right near MRT Petchaburi station.

Event activities

Inside, they’re inviting attendees to find new books to read, discuss the ones they’ve already read with friends old and new, as well as grab some beer to surely lubricate any discussions. There will be plenty of activities, talks on various topics, and live music to ensure the vibe is on point. It’s the perfect occasion to grab some friends, down a few beers, the discuss the nuances of humanity through books together like true philosophers.

One of the highlights that Books & Beers 2024 has to offer is definitely the “Book Rap,” a book-themed freestyle rap battle. Competitors go head to head, choosing a page from a list of pre-approved books, and the other party has 30 seconds to think of rhymes from that exact page. These books include Guy Winch’s How To Fix A Broken Heart, Genki Kawamura’s April Come She Will, Pim Wangtechawat’s The Moon Represents My Heart, and more.
