What to do in Bangkok: 6-12 August 2024

Trisha Leong of Night Hawk and Crystal Foo of Offtrack guest shift at Ray Cocktail & Bite
7 August, 8-11pm
From Singapore to Bangkok, Night Hawk and Offtrack just achieved spots on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list (No. 16 and No. 25, respectively). They’ve come to Ray Cocktail & Bite for one night only to show off their award-winning drinks, as well as lively hospitality in true Singaporean fashion.

Hong Kong’s Beckaly Franks guest shift at Zuma Bangkok
8 August, 8pm-midnight
Mastermind behind Hong Kong’s The Pontiac, Quality Goods Club, Call Me Al, and Artifact, Beckaly Franks is an icon of the bar industry. With flavours as bold as her personality, her hospitality is certainly not to be missed. She’ll be crafting three cocktails, which will be served along with two of Santo Medo’s creations, from Zuma Bangkok. Reservations strongly recommended.

Burrata day at CALM Bangkok
8 August, 4.30-10.30pm
Thursdays are burrata days at CALM, and no one can resist the creamy goodness served on a plate. Bring some company for a sharing platter, and be entitled to a complimentary glass of sparkling for each person. You can also take a look at all the burrata dishes they have — all of them go amazingly well with a drink. They open until midnight, but last order is at 10.30pm.

Christian Faulkner chef counter at Chenin
8-10 August, 7pm onwards
No. 42 on the 50 World’s Best Restaurants list for 2024, Ikoyi London ties global influences together through spice-packed dishes. Leading the team as head chef is Christian Faulkner who grew up as a fish monger, then turned to the kitchen, so you know his seafood will be on point. He’ll be featuring a tasting menu at Chenin for a limited time.

“Sing for Your Drink: Y2K Edition” at Maria Bar
10 August, 10.30pm onwards
Maria Bar’s ‘Sing for Your Drink’ is back. The rules are simple: a song for a drink on the house — it’s like the code of Hammurabi, but boozier. The Y2K theme also makes it more fun — all the more reason to get the party started. The live music starts at 8.30pm, but the event starts from 10.30pm.

Sunday blues brunch at Tina’s
11 August, 11.30am-3pm
Tina’s brings the New Orleans funk to Bangkok, and their new Sunday brunch deal is as sweet as their food selection. Dig into their signature crawfish boil, perhaps some biscuits and gravy, and don’t forget the scrumptious gumbo served with rice. While you’re dining, live blues music is in the air — the vibes have never been more perfect. A la carte and set menus are also available.

Giant burger set challenge at Greenhouse Restaurant & Terrace
Until 31 August, 6.30-10.30am; 12pm-midnight
The Greenhouse Restaurant & Terrace at Avani Sukhumvit has come up with a new idea: a huge 18cm beef burger with sides of fries, onion rings, and veggies. It’s perfect for sharing between 3-4 people, but finish it solo within 30 minutes and the whole set is free. If you’re one of the first three winners, they’re also throwing in a free night’s stay with breakfast.

“Memorable Thai cuisine” limited-time menus at Bangkok’78
Until 30 September, 11.30am-10.30pm
Executive Chef Golf of Bangkok’78, Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok, is turning back time with recipes from when she was cooking with her mother in the kitchen at home. Spicy and sour steamed sea bass, squid stuffed with minced pork, spicy minced pork salad, and more — Thai recipes with a punch full of spice, like our mothers intended.
