Viral sensation Kichi Kichi Omurice is coming to Bangkok, but there’s a catch

When it comes to omurice, Kichi Kichi Omurice is probably the most viral omurice diner on the planet. Now, they’re also coming to Bangkok for a limited time — here’s how to experience the meal.

Omurice — omelette and rice — is as simple as it sounds, but as anything that is that simple, it is the hardest to get right. Extremely silky scrambled eggs are placed on top of rice (in this case, fried rice), and topped generously with demiglace sauce. Many that have tried to do an omurice at home will know that each element is harder to cook than meets the eye.

In the world of F&B, if there’s a classic dish we love, there’s already a Japanese person who spent their whole life perfecting it. Chef Motokichi “Kichi Kichi” Yukimura takes his omurice dish and has turned it into an internet sensation. With his lively demeanour and humble approach to presenting himself, his diner in Tokyo became a destination, so much so that bookings are only accepted on the same day as the arrival.

For this first time ever, Kichi Kichi Omurice will be coming to Bangkok for a limited time. In collaboration with Babyccino & Co in Siam Discovery, the chef will be doing a one-day pop-up for two rounds on 12 September, 11am and 1pm, limited to 16 seats per round only.

The catch? The experience can only be redeemed by using the OneSiam app, using 150 coins from the app, along with a combined total of THB 10,000 or higher from their participating stores, including COMME des GARÇONS, Issey Miyake, and Lacoste. With that done, you’ll be entitled to a set menu, which the app claims is worth THB 4,000. This promotion can be redeemed until the end of August, 2024.
