What is the plot of ‘Eddington’, Ari Aster’s upcoming movie?

Based on Aster’s original screenplay, Eddington revolves around a small-town New Mexico sheriff with ambitious dreams. According to World of Reel, the movie will be set in a fictional copper mining town amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The plot will focus on a couple stranded near Eddington, who are initially greeted warmly. However, as night falls, the town transforms into a nightmare.

During the promotion of his third film, Beau Is Afraid (2023), Aster hinted that Eddington would be a Western movie. He added that he had contemplated making this his directorial debut feature film, adding he tried to bring it to life for roughly five years before Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019).

Neither A24 nor Aster has confirmed the release date. While the production commenced in March 2024, we can expect it sometime by mid to late 2025.
