Fairytale romances tend to idealise a union between two lovestruck individuals, predicting an everlasting ardor that will last for an eternity. But the reality is, love can prove to be a tricky beast to tame, as evidenced by Jisoo and Ahn Bo-hyun, who have officially called it quits.
The celebrity megastar couple who were first linked earlier this year together in August, had apparently come to the mutual decision to split in the face of their own respective schedules, which have inevitably made their efforts in sustaining their relationship increasingly difficult.
Jisoo and Ahn Bo-hyun have split
News of their split was first announced by an industry representative, who said “Jisoo and Ahn Bo-hyun’s relationship naturally became distant due to their busy schedules, and they recently broke up.” The news was later confirmed by Jisoo’s agency, YG Entertainment.
Initially, rumours surrounding both Jisoo and Bo-hyun’s potential romance together swirled in the K-Pop space when the actor was seen at the BLACKPINK member’s home on August 3rd. Some reports even went so far as to claim that they have been seeing one another since May, although this was not verified.
Needless to say, the development was further spurred on by the respective management agencies behind both personalities, YG Entertainment and FN Entertainment, who were quick to tap into the media frenzy surrounding them and encouraged their fans to show them support.
The confirmation of both entertainers being linked romantically was further bolstered by the fact that this was the first time that YG Entertainment had ever confirmed any dating rumours surrounding members of BLACKPINK.
But if the statement on the reason behind their breakup is to be believed, then it should come as no surprise that both talents would put their love life on hold. In 28-year-old Jisoo’s case, she had recently gained a considerable amount of recognition as a solo artist after debuting her first solo studio album, Me, in March of this year.
Containing the leading single FLOWER, the album went on to sell 1.03 million copies in just two days, making it the best-selling music album by a South Korean female solo artist in history.
As for Bo-hyun, his reputation as a seasoned actor in Korean television dramas has minted him a robust spot as one of the nation’s most desirable heartthrobs. His breakout role in the 2020 drama Itaewon Class has since landed him spots in other projects, including the upcoming drama Gold Spoon, set to debut in 2024.
