River City Bangkok celebrates 40 years of magnificent art and antiques

Nestled along the Chao Phraya River, River City Bangkok began as a shopping complex but has since evolved into a cultural hub full of rare antiques, contemporary art, and dynamic exhibitions. Over the years, it has become a beloved destination for both locals and tourists, offering a unique blend of history, creativity, and innovation. Just recently, the landmark celebrated its 40th anniversary with a grand event that brought together esteemed artists, gallery owners, partners, and art lovers to commemorate this remarkable milestone.

The celebration featured an exclusive showcase of extraordinary artworks and antiques, curated to honour the rich history and significance of this iconic landmark. Adding to the evening’s grandeur, the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and vocalists from Heavenly Voice Nancy’s Studio delivered enchanting performances. However, at the heart of the event was Ms. Linda Cheng, Managing Director of River City Bangkok, who unveiled RCB’s bold vision for the future passionately describing the centre as “A place where art lives, breathes, and inspires.”

To mark the occasion, the establishment also hosted two special exhibitions: Ad Astra Per Aspera: Through Hardships to the Stars and Before Sunrise. “Ad Astra Per Aspera: Through Hardships to the Stars” revisited the centre’s inception on December 1, 1984 where what began as Mr. Adisorn Charanachitta’s dream of a shopping complex has now grown into one of Bangkok’s most esteemed cultural landmarks. Meanwhile, “Before Sunrise” showcased works by over 40 talented artists from seven galleries, exploring the theme of emerging from darkness into light.
