Fern-Issaree on her clear sense of self and future career beyond the modelling world

Could you please give us a life update?

I’m still modelling as usual. I’ve been doing this for 11-12 years now, but I want to start more businesses. Right now I have a clothing brand because I know it’s sustainable since I’m probably not going to grow as much in the modelling industry anymore.

Tell us about your clothing brand.

My brand is called Not for Everyone, a name that reflects my unique style and approach to fashion. I have been working on my company for the past three years, drawing on my background in fashion design and modelling to create pieces that resonates with who I am.

Designing clothes and finding fabrics come naturally to me, but I have also come to realise that marketing and selling them is a challenge. I have limited experience in these areas, and I know that I need to develop my skills to succeed. I am currently doing everything myself, which can be tough since I am also working in the modelling industry. I am aware that I need to build a reliable support network around me to help me scale my business.

While I cannot predict how long it will take for me to become a full-fledged businesswoman, I am determined to pay attention and immerse myself in this role. I love to take photos and dress up, and my passion for clothes is reflected in almost everything I design. My brand is a reflection of me, and I have put in a lot of effort to ensure that it has a strong identity. I am mindful that it is not just about producing what I like, but also creating what the world would like. It can be frustrating, but I am committed to finding ways to make my fashion line more appealing and relevant to my target audience.

If you were to describe what you do to people, what would you say?

I’m not sure what to call myself, even though many consider me an influencer. My overall vibe isn’t to sell things to people but rather to combine my aesthetic with my lifestyle. I do promote products, but I try to do it in a way that’s not pushy. If you ask me what profession has a shelf life, it all depends on what you enjoy or want to do. For example, if you want to be an influencer, go for it and be clear about your intentions. Review products, do the job to the best of your ability, and be authentic.

Are there any misconceptions about you?

Some people think I’m arrogant because I look moody. My face doesn’t look too friendly. But in reality, I started working when I was a kid, so I’m quite careful with whom I choose to associate with. Not everyone has your best interest.

Since this month’s concept is “Balance of Being,” finding the common ground in differences, in what aspects of your life do you think you are masculine and another feminine?

I consider myself a rather masculine person. This is mainly because I grew up very close to my father and don’t exhibit many stereotypical feminine traits. Being the oldest sister with two younger brothers, we’ve always shared clothes, hung out, and played football together. I also tend to have more male friends with whom I can talk and relax. If I had to identify a feminine trait, it would be taking care of myself, such as having a perfect skincare routine, applying makeup, and dressing up. I enjoy wearing clothing that is revealing (laughs). However, when it comes to my personality, I often feel a bit disappointed.

If you were to style this OMEGA watch, but in both a feminine and masculine look, how would you pair this outfit?

My style is quite mixed. I’d say wearing baggy jeans and using a bra as a shirt. Then I’ll throw on a cover-up. Alternatively, I sometimes go for a completely masculine look and add a touch of light makeup to create a bit of contrast. Overall, I like to dress in a way that combines both feminine and masculine elements, as I find it more interesting that way.

Lastly, what can we expect from you in the future?

Maybe opening a tea business? Like I’ll have my tea shop, where I also sell my clothes here too. As for family, I’m a person who has images of marriage and children. But the thing is, I just have to be rich first (laughs).

Jane Kasemsarn on the depths of purpose and the meaning of life

Could you please give us a life update?

I work from home for my family’s company, but I am now looking for my own career path. Last year, I faced some mental health issues, and I decided to get into the wellness industry. I am currently taking an online course to become a certified Nutrition Health Coach. I enjoy learning about health and fitness, and I regularly go to the gym or do yoga. However, I discovered Pilates last year, and I fell in love with it. Therefore, this year I plan to take a course to become a certified Pilates Instructor.

Tell us about how you got into wellness.

During a stressful time in my life, I experienced mental health issues that eventually affected my physical well-being, causing hair loss. This was a shock to me, as I had never experienced it before. I realised I needed to take this matter seriously and decided to enrol in an online program offered by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York, which lasted for one year. I wanted to learn how to take care of myself during difficult times.

While studying at IIN, I learned about the various dimensions of health, including emotional health, controlling emotions, and dealing with different types of trauma. I also learned how to take care of mental wounds caused by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, I found that spiritual health is essential, as it is intertwined with one’s overall well-being.

In the future, I aspire to own a wellness centre or studio. However, for now, I will focus on becoming a Pilates teacher and encourage people to exercise regularly. I may even create an online Mat Pilates course and eventually expand to Free Reformer Pilates.

If you had to describe what you did to people, what would that be?

Right now, I don’t have a clear occupation, but I would say soon a Holistic Pilates Instructor.

Within the past few years, has your mindset changed?

I believe that if we don’t try new things, we will never truly know ourselves or discover our true calling. For years, I struggled with questions like ‘Who am I?’ and ‘What do I want to do?’ When I was working in an office, I felt like my life had no meaning and couldn’t see my future. To find the real meaning of life, I think it’s important to keep exploring new things and discover what we enjoy.

Since this month’s concept is “Balance of Being,” finding the common ground in differences, in what aspects of your life do you think you are masculine and another feminine?

My feminine side is my energy. I tend to be calm and nurturing, and I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend. On the other hand, my masculine side is more prominent when I’m working out. I have a lot of energy and enjoy lifting weights and engaging in other physical activities.

If you were to style this OMEGA watch, but in both a feminine and masculine look, how would you pair this outfit?

If you are looking for a masculine look, I would suggest wearing a suit or a blazer with trousers. For a feminine look, a floral dress could be a good option. In the past, I used to wear a lot of florals, but nowadays, I tend to wear more earth tones such as white or satin dresses.

Lastly, tell us about you in 10 years.

I believe that in 10 years, I will have a family with possibly two kids and a home abroad. As I mentioned before, my boyfriend and I plan to create a wellness sanctuary. By then, I hope to have a better understanding of my purpose in life, so that I can wake up every day with a clear sense of direction.

Marina Balenciaga on her evolution as an artist, actress, and entrepreneur

Could you please give us a life update?

Right now, I’m doing a lot of things. I’ve just released a new single called “Equation,” and I have other business ventures I’m working on. For example, I’m currently making a dietary supplement for Liver Detox along with my own skincare products. For my career as an artist, I want to give my audience a clearer picture of who I am, so there’s a lot of music promotion going on. However, for my acting career, I just finished filming. Some shows are also currently on air, so it’s more relaxed with that. I’m putting more time into music.

Tell us about your song “Equation.”

This song I’m very confident about. Perhaps it’s because I wrote it myself and the vocals I used are the ones I’m most comfortable with, which makes it more authentic. Writing songs in Thai is not easy, given the language’s complex pronunciation. Usually, I start writing in English and then translate it into Thai. However, this is the first song I wrote in Thai first. I feel like it has a cute concept because I use the word “equation” a lot. I believe anything in life is an equation, and if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. That’s why I used this term to compare relationships.

I wrote this song quite quickly. I started with the music since I wanted a mid-range rhythm. Then I decided to create lyrics that people can relate to. That’s why it’s about relationships. The song is about two people who try hard to be together, yet they fail. It’s not anyone’s fault, but because they don’t fit together, like an equation, they simply don’t work.

Tell us about your dietary supplements.

When I went abroad, I saw that there are so many supplements that help with hangovers, whereas Thailand doesn’t have many. My boyfriend is a biochemist, so he knows certain formulas that help with liver detox. I personally tried them and it worked. It also helped with my hangover. You can even take it every day. Right now, my brand only has one product because I don’t want to produce something I won’t actually use.

If you were to describe what you do to people, what would you say?

A creative director or artist. For my dietary supplement brand, I take care of the branding, media design, and graphics, which I think is the responsibility of the creative director.

Within the past few years, has your mindset changed?

I’ve grown a lot. Previously, I felt like I only had a few responsibilities. For instance, to just go to set, act, and leave. But now since I’m an artist as well as have my own business venture, I have to do everything. I have to know everything to make things move and flow. For instance, making music, I work on pre-production and production, which includes the music video shooting. I’m also my own stylist.

Since I do everything, I’ve learnt to be more calm and that every detail is important. Everything I’ve learnt these past few years has made me appreciate being a star. I remember I’ve been the photographer of my own skincare products. I even organised the whole set like ordering food and drinks for the team, arriving first before everyone. Then when work is finished, I make sure to clean up. I realised I’m really lucky, to be able to come here, work, and go home.

Are there any misconceptions about you?

I’d like to think I’m quite diverse, but it’s up to anyone really what they think about me. A lot of people think I’m still, but I’m just reserved or maybe it’s because of my neutral face, which makes me look upset.

Since this month’s concept is “Balance of Being,” finding the common ground in differences, in what aspects of your life do you think you are masculine and another feminine?

I’m honestly a mix of both, but if feminine probably when I’m taking care of my niece, nephews, and dog. But I think being feminine also contains masculine traits. For instance, I have to take care, protect, and be a leader. You can’t just separate these two characteristics that easily.

Lastly, tell us about you in 10 years.

In the next 10 years, hmmm…I’m not sure. I like to live in the present. But if it’s in 5 years, probably music. I want to produce an album that describes my identity as an artist more clearly. As for acting, if it’s a challenging role, I’ll probably accept it. However, what I can say for sure is that I’m going to be focusing more on my music career.

In terms of relationships, I am not currently thinking about getting married, but I do desire to have a long-term partner. I think it’s important to have someone with whom we can share our time and experiences, and who we can go anywhere with.

Valentina Ploy’s journey from manifestation to performing with Coldplay https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/valentina-ploy-coldplay-interview/ Thu, 07 Mar 2024 05:58:20 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1914472

From singing Coldplay covers in her bathroom to becoming their opening act, get ready to meet Valentina Ploy as she’s here with us today on LSA’s Digital Cover March 2024.

Pursuing a career in music is a challenging task for every artist. However, for Thai-Italian singer Valentina Ploy, who moved to Thailand a few years ago, things have been different. Valentina made her debut in 2019 with her digital single “See You In Life” and later joined Warner Music Asia. Since then, the 30-year-old has achieved great success in her musical career. She has released her latest song, “Mr. Heaven Blue,” has gone on tours, and even performed as the opening act for Coldplay.

In this interview with LSA, Valentina shares her journey from not knowing who she was as an artist to overcoming stage fright and later manifesting her all-time performance. Let’s hear what Valentina has to say about her life and her next big chapter as a rising star.

Valentina Ploy’s journey from manifestation to performing with Coldplay

People have said that you seem more suited for performing concerts due to your free-spirited vibe rather than competing in competitions. What is your opinion on this?

I’m more free-spirited. Throughout my journey, I needed a lot of time to find myself as an artist. When I competed in The Voice Thailand and in singing competitions in Italy, I didn’t even know who I was. I just knew I like to produce and sing music. However, I don’t enjoy being up on stage where people stare at me, but how does that work- to want to perform but too scared to sing on stage? I had to find a way to make these things work so I could be more comfortable.

The way I solved my shyness was by attending acting classes. It was a long process. But when it comes to acting classes, it’s like going to the psychologist. It helps you know more about yourself because they ask why you are shy. Did something happen when you were a kid? Do you have any triggers? They’ll poke at you so much that you might even cry. You also get to do things you’re afraid of, which basically unlocks this whole new you. It’s an entire process where you discover all your emotions and why you feel a certain way. When you understand how you think, you’ll be more confident because it’s giving reasoning to your emotions.

With all of the experience I’ve acquired after being in this industry for a while, plus having the chance to perform in festivals, I finally found myself. Now I know who I am as an artist and what I need to do to feel happy on stage.

Is it true singers can’t sing in the morning?

Yes. Well, we can sing, but it might be a bit weird. The best time for me to sing is in the evening because my voice is warm.

Tell us how you got the gig to perform in Coldplay.

First of all, I’d like to thank my team for pitching me. But when it comes to how it began, I don’t even know how it happened. So, I would call it my team’s effort, which I’m very thankful for. Plus a miracle. It was very crazy when I discovered I was opening for Coldplay. During that time, I was overthinking and scared, like what if it didn’t happen? So, I had this ongoing energy of trying to make it happen, and in the end, it did happen. So that was magic.

How was hanging out with Coldplay and talking to Chris Martin? What is he like?

I was extremely thrilled when I met Chris. He was exactly who I imagined him to be, but even better. I have been a big fan of Coldplay for a long time, and they serve as a great source of inspiration when I’m producing music. I have also covered their songs since living in Italy, and I used to sing them in my bedroom. I love them.

Chris appeared to me as a genuine and honest person who is not snobbish. He is very humble and in touch with his spirituality. Every time I watch his interviews at home, I feel inspired, and when I finally met him, Chris was just like that. He has no ego. However, I noticed he might get uncomfortable when people would look at him all excited because he prefers being treated like a normal human being. We didn’t even take any photos, as he would say, “I’m here with you, just be here with me. There’s no need for photos.”

So when I first met him, it was with the other 19 artists when Warner Thailand organised a session where we went to Studio28 in Bangkok. We all sat in a circle at the session, and Chris was in the middle. Everyone was talking and showing their demo to him. He’s very sweet, kind, and genuine with everyone. He sat and listened to our music for 3 hours and gave us comments and advice like we were friends.

When I played my demo, he asked why I wouldn’t play it at the concert tomorrow. I responded, “No.” The song is called “When You Almost Give Up.” During that time, I was so stressed. I could produce as many songs as possible, but no one listened. It was tough. Then, when I heard the news, it’s like when you almost give up; that’s when the magic happens. So when Chris listened to it, he told me to perform this song so everyone could know the story.

The first day, I didn’t sing it because I was scared since it was just me and my guitar. However, when the second day came, I sang it, and it was really nice. After the concert, the first night I went to the after party and met him. He was very nice. We were just hanging, eating French fries, chatting, and introducing friends.

Did you notice something about Chris that people might not know?

Yeah. Something people might not know is I noticed he likes to walk barefoot? I saw it in some pictures, and then when we all met him and he wasn’t wearing shoes, it made me even forget about my own. It’s also nice how he’s connected to his higher self and very grounded. I feel like at his level, when you’re that famous, to be so humble and connected with yourself is fantastic.

Your set list began with “Berlin,” “ Really Wanna Know Ya,” ” Mr. Heaven Blue,” “See you in life,” and “Bla Bli Blu.” Why did you have to start with this order for both days?

I saved myself because I am a very emotional person. Most of my songs are very heartfelt and emotional. However, I am often too scared to perform them live because I don’t know how I will feel on stage. Will my voice shake? Will it be difficult to sing? Will I cry? I know I will probably cry (laughs), so I chose to sing the songs I am most confident in. Therefore, my setlist was a mix of popular songs people like to hear and, of course, my new song, “Mr. Heaven Blue.”

Tell us about your new song, “Mr. Heaven Blue.”

Blue is my favourite colour. I love the sky. Before, I used to post the sky on my IG story all the time. I even have a highlight of the skies. So when I wrote this song, I wanted to produce something not too deep- something that’ll make me dance. And for the name, I like that you have hopes and dreams when you look at the sky. It generally makes you feel happy. So that’s why it’s called “Mr. Heaven Blue.”

Can you describe your experience as Coldplay’s opening act for two days? Did you notice any differences between the two days?

The first day after my performance, when they played “The Scientist,” I just cried. I was thinking, “Am I really here? Was I really on the same stage as Coldplay?” However, on the second day, it finally hit me in the head like, “Oh my god, I’m actually doing this. It is happening.”

Although it’s exactly the same show, those two days were so different. I was so scared, stressed, and overwhelmed. However, the experience was magical. When the second day came, it was like the first day had already passed. After receiving good feedback, seeing people enjoy themselves, and Chris being very nice, I started feeling more confident. I hesitated to play “When You Almost Give Up,” but I thought, “This could be the last time in my life that I get to perform on the biggest stage.” I felt so lucky. I was full of happiness and joy. I feel so grateful. We prepared for many months, so it felt so good to accomplish this.

Being able to be the opening act for Coldplay, did you manifest this?

I think so, but honestly, I’ve never tried to manifest something this big because I didn’t know it could happen. Of course, I’ve dreamt of being a supporting act for a huge artist, but Coldplay is beyond. When I heard it could be me, I was scared. What if it didn’t happen? But then I thought, I had to believe I already had the gig if I wanted it. I was a bit delusional, but I told myself the gig was mine, even though it wasn’t confirmed.

Also, when I heard about Coldplay that summer, I met Ed Sheeran and went on holiday with him. I was invited to an island and Ed was a family friend of this friend that invited us. That’s why he was there too.

Do you personally believe in manifestation?

I believe in the law of attraction. I usually have a positive outlook on life. But before knowing about Coldplay, I was going through a rough time. However, I trusted the universe, and it gave me good news.

Lastly, what other things will you manifest in the future?

In the future, I want to be the supporting artist for Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift. It feels too big, but I’ll try my best to work hard and manifest

How to manifest and make your dreams come true with Valentina Ploy https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/how-to-manifest-valentina-ploy/ Thu, 07 Mar 2024 05:58:01 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1914520

“Just when you almost give up, that’s when the magic happens.” – Valentina Ploy

When it comes to making your dreams come true, not only does one need to work hard, but they also have to believe in themself. And that’s precisely what the Thai-Italian artist Valentina Ploy did. Even at her darkest time, Valentina revealed how she was on the brink of giving up. She had been producing a lot of music, but no one was listening. However, after many hardships, the 30-year-old singer heard some good news that she could be opening for Coldplay. To express her feelings, she wrote the song “When You Almost Give Up.”

“I felt it was a sign from the universe because I got the message when I was going through a hard time.”

Now, although there was no confirmation yet, Valentina was determined to believe she already had it. As someone who believes in the law of attraction, that was precisely what this young lady did. The law of attraction says whatever you think about, focus on, fantasize, worry about, or talk about, you’ll be able to create more of it in your life. For instance, if one were to talk about how miserable their life is, they would attract more negativity. However, if an individual is more optimistic, they will attract more positive energy. And that’s exactly what Valentina did. Keep reading to discover how she made her dreams come true through manifestation below.

How to manifest and make your dreams come true with Valentina Ploy

Understand what you want

When it comes to manifesting, you must first know what you want and find out who you are, according to Valentina. “When I was on The Voice Thailand, I had no idea who I was. I didn’t even feel like an artist yet. I just knew that I was a shy kid who liked to write songs. That was a big challenge for me as I wouldn’t like to be on stage. However, understanding that my dream and goal are to pursue music, I already knew I had to overcome my fear. I had to learn, gain more experience, and get out of my comfort zone. Now, I’ve finally found myself. I know who I am as an artist and what I need to do.”

Positive thinking

“It’s important to have a positive outlook on life. I usually have it, but as humans, we all have our ups and downs. The reason why I try to be optimistic is because I solely believe in the law of attraction. Even when things were rough, I chose to trust the universe, and when I did, everything was better.”

Being delusional

Another tip from Valentina is to be delusional. Even though she hadn’t been confirmed as Coldplay’s opening act yet, the star believed she had already got the gig. “When I heard it could be me, I was scared because what if I didn’t get it? However, I told myself that if I wanted to, I had to believe I had already got the gig. I had to be delusional, so I simply told myself it was already mine. When I did that, it’s like because I already believed in it, I attracted it.”

The history of the cult classic Cartier Trinity collection https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/history-cartier-trinity-collection/ Mon, 13 Nov 2023 02:20:57 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1900280

We all know Cartier’s ‘modern handcuff,’ the Love Bracelet, but did you know that the brand’s true cult classic is its Trinity collection?

Cartier has been producing some of the world’s most finest jewellery since the late 19th century. The Tutti Frutti, Love, Juste un Clou, and Panthère collections are just a few examples of this Parisian brand’s groundbreaking designs, remarkable gems, and exquisite craftsmanship. However, one line that cannot go unnoticed is the Cartier Trinity collection, which interestingly originated from a request by the renowned French artist Jean Cocteau.

Cartier Trinity Ring

The history of the cult classic Cartier Trinity collection

Louis Cartier, the founder’s grandson and the creative force behind the brand, designed the Trinity ring for Cocteau in 1924. The ring consists of three intertwined bands: yellow gold, representing fidelity; platinum, representing enduring friendship; and rose gold, representing true love. It became an instant success. However, this creation was a daring innovation for its time.

The 1920s were known for the roaring Art Deco style, and Cartier was famous for its colourful and exotic creations. But the Trinity ring was a stark contrast to this trend. Louis creating something so simple and embellished-free took great courage, yet that fearlessness was his success. He created a piece so unique and alluring with magnetic beauty it became a cult classic. And despite being almost a century old, the Trinity ring still remains as one of Cartier’s most iconic designs.

The French jewellery and watchmaking Maison didn’t just stop there. With time, the Trinity ring evolved with various models. These models include rings with words engraved, bigger bands, diamond-embellished Trinity rings, and even rings made by blending ceramic with yellow and white gold. In addition to the Trinity collection, Cartier also created a wedding edition called the Trinity Ruban Solitaire. There’s even earrings, necklaces, and bracelets versions that feature the Trinity design.

The collection has been adorned by iconic figures such as Princess Diana, Grace Kelly, and Gary Cooper. However, Trinity continues to be popular among today’s celebrities, including Kate Middleton, Kylie Jenner, and many others. The immense success of this collection isn’t just due to its impeccable design. It’s also the powerful symbolism and endless interpretations embodied in this forever-embedded ring. Whether it’s a token of affection, friendship, or passed down as a family heirloom, Trinity is vintage, modern and quintessential Cartier piece.

TRINITY on their fourth year in T-Pop and establishing their names https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/trinity-fourth-year-t-pop/ Mon, 13 Nov 2023 02:20:38 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1899184

After finishing their JOURNEY OF 2023 TRINITY BREATH OF DESIRE tour, these three talented men are here with LSA today to give us a little life update. Get ready to meet TRINITY on the front of Lifestyle Asia’s November 2023 Digital Cover.

If there was a T-pop group that does an incredible performance along with Western standards production, it has to be TRINITY. TRINITY is a Thai boy group under 4NOLOGUE that is composed of three members: Jackrin ‘Jackie‘ Kungwankiatichai, Sivakorn ‘Porsche‘ Adulsuttikul, and Lapat ‘Third‘ Ngamchaweng. And let’s say these boys have talent. Whether it’s their dance moves, vocals, or even their determination, it is no wonder why so many people adore these young men.

Despite their initial debut in 2019, the boys have had a break due to COVID. But now that the world’s back to normal, the group has been busy. TRINITY has been going on world tours as well as releasing their newest song collaboration, “Drop Dead” with the famous Japanese band BALLISTIK BOYZ. The group has also dropped their 1st FULL ALBUM. That said, we’ve invited the talented young men to do a little Q&A sesh and a fashion shoot with Cartier’s Trinity collection. Check it out.

Q&A with TRINITY

What are you currently doing?

Porsche: We’ve just completed our JOURNEY OF 2023 TRINITY BREATH OF DESIRE tour. It was our first massive concert. We also finished performing at Octopop. Besides that, we’re also touring in other countries. We’ve recently released a new album, so please don’t forget to check that out.

Could you explain to us how your JOURNEY OF 2023 TRINITY BREATH OF DESIRE tour was?

Porsche: Although it was a very long process, everything went by quickly. Even though we wasted a lot of time during COVID, the results were smooth. The same goes for our music. It took us a while to get it perfect.

Jackie: I agree. Compared to the break (from COVID), when we were actually working, everything went by fast. For example, when we’re performing, it’s like we’re checking in on our fans, which makes me feel we still have great energy with each other.

Third: It was also our first concert. I feel so proud of everyone.

How did you guys prepare for this? What was your practice like?

Porsche: We were exhausted. For this concert, there was minimal practice time. We were also trying to find new ways to entertain the audience because we wanted to give them a good show. When it came to the actual concert day, it was so tiring. We had to do new blockings and create new dance moves. The easiest part was the car scene. It was very fun.

Jackie: It was so challenging because everything was new. We never had the chance to try it before.

Third: We tried our best to give the audience a new show every time so it’s more memorable. Even though we’re tired, when we see our fans, they take that feeling away.

Do you guys have a ritual before you perform?

Porsche: Honestly, everyone goes to the toilet before because it’s super cold.

Third: But during the actual concert, we played like 20 songs. There’s no time to go to the toilet, only during break, which is only a few minutes.

Jackie: When we prepare ourselves, we do voice warm-ups, check the blocking and queues.

You guys also celebrated your 4th year in the T-Pop industry. Do you feel like TRINITY has grown?

Porsche: We’ve grown in every single way possible. The way we think has changed, our bodies are different, and even the way we input knowledge has changed. But we experience all of this together.

Third: Yeah. Let’s say that this version of TRINITY evolved together.

Jackie: We got to learn so many things. For example, in our latest concert, we were able to help out more. We had an input in preparing for the shows, like how we would like the concert to look.

What other types of music would you like to explore?

Porsche: I want to do something we’ve never done before. I want to sing about other topics besides love. I’m bored of love songs.

Third: Yeah, but honestly, if it’s a song about life, we’ve already done it. This is the thing we need to think of, like what perspective TRINITY is going to show in the future.

What would you like to tell yourself if you could go back in time before your debut?

Third: Nothing, to be honest. I’ll let myself experience things first-hand because that’s the best way.

Porsche: Yes. I wouldn’t spoil my future to myself.

Third: If we told ourselves, it’ll be like a lottery. We’ll still be the same, just richer (laughs).

What’s your work and career life like currently?

Porsche: I’m so excited to work with Cartier, especially when our group is called TRINITY, and this is the Trinity collection. Plus, I only wear these types of accessories when I go to events. But I love how the design is so minimal, yet there’s such intricate detailing like the three rings. I feel that I can wear this daily because it’s not too much.

Third & Jackie: We agree, so don’t forget to check out this collection.

2

A luxurious watch can always elevate any look

As Jackie is a busy man, he always wears a watch to keep him on track (and to accessorise). For this look, he is wearing Cartier’s Tank watch, along with other Cartier items.

3

Winter is coming and that means sweater weather

As we’re approaching the cooler season, Jackie loves to wear something that will keep him warm. In this case, the 22 year old artist has a cute diamond pattern green and white sweater. To finish off this look, he pairs it with black trouser and sneakers.

4

Making a statement at concerts

Just like the other TRINITY members, Jackie loves to make a statement, especially when performing at his concert. Therefore, he’s going for a 70s look with some fringe and boots. So unique.

5

Beach time always calls for a vest

Although the knitted vest Jackie is wearing may be a bit hot, wearing no sleeves is a must when you’re at the beach. Jackie chose this brown and white vest as it’s breezy and gives that perfect comfort, yet polished look.

For our November 2023 digital cover, LSA brings together TRINITY to talk about the band’s 4th anniversary of their debut as they’ve just finished their first full concert. Besides talking about their current updates and future plans, the boys also discussed their fashion sense. For Porsche, who’s the eldest one in the group, likes to wear something comfortable like hoodies, sleeveless shirts, and oversized tees on a day-to-day basis. And although that may sound quite casual, the 25-year-old artist told us he loves to elevate his look by accessorising, especially with Cartier’s Trinity collection.

Porsche loves to upgrade his look with accessories. Whether its a watch, necklace, rings, or bracelet, this super star is all for it. One brand he adores is Cartier, which he is currently wearing right now.

3

Sleeveless tops are a beach essential

When Porsche goes to the beach, he loves to wear comfy and breezy clothing. For this look, he has on a sleeveless top along with swimming trunks, flip flops, and, of course, black shades.

LONGINES MASTER COLLECTION

The new Moon Phase Chronograph

The new Moon Phrase Chronograph comes in 40mm and 42mm sizes, along with a stainless steel case. And honestly, these timepieces are a beauty. It is 14.30mm thick, has a transparent sapphire crystal back, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal anti-reflective coated mirror that adds to the watch’s allure. One notable feature of this model is the anthracite dial with applied Roman numerals, which is absolutely stunning. This new model perfectly represents LONGINES’ philosophy: “Elegance is attitude.” It carries itself in a graceful and refined manner, and although the design does play a part, the aura goes beyond the physical attributes.

This new Moon Phase model features an automatic movement, calibre L687, which adds technical fascination. It also comes in both black and silver dials. The watch also has approximately 66 hours of power reserve, which is really impressive. Although this new model has no lume, it is water resistant to 3 bar. Customers can also choose between the alligator strap or the stainless steel bracelet.

LSA Style Anatomy: 5 ways to dress like Name-Prakarn Raiva https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/lsa-style-anatomy-5-ways-to-dress-like-name-prakarn-raiva/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 07:11:43 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1896278

Besides being known as the frontman of Getsunova, Name-Prakarn Raiva’s sartorial fashion sense is also notoriously recognised. But is that all this singer wears?

For our October 2023 digital cover, we are here today with Prakarn ‘Name’ Raiva. Besides being known as the frontman for the Thai band Getsunova, Name is also the heir to one of Thailand’s most renowned bakery retail companies, S&P. However, his life is more than just business. This talented singer is all about making a loving home as he raises two kids with his wife Sarasha Luedeesununt. With such a busy schedule, let’s see how Name likes to style himself according to different occasions. (Although we did spy with our little eye a stunning LONGINES timepiece from their latest Master Collection).

For those interested in the watch on Name’s wrist, please visit Longines’ website here for further information or inquiries.

1

To live that nepo baby and rockstar style, Name always needs his sunnies

Besides Thailand’s hot climate and being a rockstar, Name loves to wear his black shades. Whether it’s for a concert, a social hangout, or just chilling with his fam, this item is his staple. Plus, it’s important to protect your eyes from the blazing sun.

2

With such a busy schedule, a good watch is needed

Of course, being the frontman of one of Thailand’s most popular band can get hectic. But Name has more than that to worry. As this star continously tries to balance his work and personal life, Name told us that he loves to invest in a good watch, like his LONGINES L2.673.4.71.2 in blue. “I’m quite busy and having a good timepiece helps me balance my schedule. If I’m not on tour, I have to send my kids to school at 7:30 AM. That’s one of my responsibilities in the house. After that, I head to the gym and get on with my day.”

3

Don’t forget the Arsenal shirt

Is Name even Name without his Arsenal merch? No. “I love football and I always cheer for Arsenal. I love them so much, which means I hate Manchester United. I even bought my kids an Arsenal shirt since they were newborns. My daughter has a real kit. If they’re a fan of Manchester United, we can’t be in the same house.”

4

You can’t go wrong with a leather jacket

Leather jackets are a wardrobe essential. Whether you’re a man or woman, this fashion item can make any look cooler, which Name agrees. Like look at his fit. It’s effortless, yet has this rugged charm to it. It’s giving going on a sartorial journey of self-discovery.

5

Always have a well-tailored suit, especially if it’s date night

Being a menswear enthusiast, Name adores his classic and timeless garments, especially his suits. “This aesthetic just matches me. Growing up I thought suits and tailored garments represented who I was the best. When I wear these piece, I feel confident. I feel put together.”

Name-Prakarn Raiva & his 5 all-time favourite artists https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/name-prakarn-raiva-5-all-time-favourite-artists/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 07:10:57 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1896293 name guitar

Ever wondered what the frontman of Getsunova loves to listen to? Here is Name-Prakarn Raiva & his 5 all-time favourite artists.

Prakarn Raiva, aka Name, is the frontman for Getsunova, which is composed of three other members: Natee Osathanugrah, Panoth Khunprasert and Komkadech Sangwattanaroj. Although they were under GMM Grammy, the boys started with a rocky beginning as they were initially an indie group. After receiving much criticism, especially with them coming from a high society background, the members worked really hard to prove that they were more than just their name. With many trials and errors, Getsunova has gained much recognition in the Thai music industry, especially after their first song, “Glai Kae Nai Kue Glai,” released in 2012.

Besides being in the music industry, Name is also the heir to S&P restaurant and a father of two. With his busy schedule, Name loves a great timepiece to keep him on track. One of his favourites is from the LONGINES’ Master Collection, which is timelessly elegant and can never go out of style. Now despite his hectic life, Name told us one of his top stress-relief secrets: listening to music. (Besides seeing his children’s faces, of course).

Name-Prakarn Raiva & his 5 all-time favourite artists

wave to earth

The first band Name thought of was wave to earth, a three-member Korean indie band under Wavy. The group comprises Daniel Kim, the guitarist and songwriter, drummer Dongkyu Shin, and John Cha, the bassist. Despite being a Korean band, most of their music is in English, which has helped them gain a broader fan base beyond Korea. However, what makes them stand out is their unique beats, making them different from other Korean bands. Their music’s smooth, low-fi sounds have a calming effect, bringing back pleasant memories. “They are not a boy band, but a Korean indie rock pop band. Their music is really cool, and anyone can enjoy listening to them, regardless of gender or age.”

SURL

The second band that the lead vocalist of Getsunova adores is also from Korea. “I have another Korean band favourite, but this time it’s in the style of indie-rock. The band is called SURL. But to be honest, there are many amazing Korean bands.” Active since 2018, SURL consists of four high school friends: Hoseung, Doyeon, Hanbin, and Myeongsuk. And although they are relatively new, their music is top-tier. Besides the beautiful vocals and instruments, their songs are relatable, making SURL a fantastic band. Check out some of their top tunes like “Snow,” “Dry Flower,” and “The Lights Behind You.”

Queens of the Stone Age

For his third all-time favourite, Name chose an American band. “Queen of the Stone Age has been here for so long. I love to listen to them since I was a kid.” Queen of the Stone Age, formed in 1996, is an American rock band from Seattle. Although the band has changed multiple partners, one constant member was the founder, vocalist, and guitarist John Hommes. Some of their famous hits include, ‘No One Knows,’ ‘Go with the Flow,’ and ‘Little Sister.’

The Horrors

As rock music seems to be a trend for Name, his fourth all-time favourite band is more on the trippier side. “The Horrors is quite trippy. (Haha). They have some shoegaze elements, which makes their tracks amazing.” Formed in 2006 in Essex, The Horrors is a psychedelic, garage-rock, and pop-punk band with Faris Badwan as the lead vocalist. The other members include Joshua Hayward, Tom Cowan, Rhys Webb, and Joseph Spurgeon. If you’ve never listened to their music, it gives off a trance vibe that can be somewhat chilling. Some of their masterpieces include “Still Life,” “Something To Remember Me By,” and “Sea Within A Sea.”

Harry Styles

“Let’s do a solo artist for my last all-time favourite. It has to go to the one and only Harry Styles. From the lyrics to the product, his music is fantastic.” Although Harry is known for being a part of the English boy band One Direction, he has paved his way into the music world as a solo artist. And we love that for him. Although his music is easy to digest, it is still complex, which is one of the reasons why he won three Grammy awards. Plus, he’s a total fashion icon. His famous songs include “Sign of the Time,” “As It Was,” and “Kiwi.”

Name-Prakarn & his passion for being a father and Getsunova’s frontman https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/name-prakarn-interview/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 07:10:29 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1896019

Growing up in an elite circle has its advantages and disadvantages, and Name-Prakarn Raiva is well aware of them. And while some may say that Name’s high society background was the reason for his success, it was his passion and drive for music that truly changed his life.

Getsunova, the Thai band under GMM Grammy, is composed of four members: Prakarn ‘Name‘ Raiva, Natee Osathanugrah, Panoth ‘Noth’ Khunprasert and Komkadech ‘Pipe’ Sangwattanaroj. Before their first success, Getsuonva received much criticism. From not being skilled to being labelled as the “high society kids” band, the members still never gave up. Although the four privledged men could have easily surrendered their rockstar dream and returned to their families, their passion and dedication led to their success.

After facing many trials and errors, their perseverance paid off when they released their first hit, “Glai Kae Nai Kue Glai,” in 2012. Since then, Getsunova has become a Thai favourite as they prove to the world that they are more than just their last names.

Today, we have invited one of the band members to be featured on Lifestyle Asia Thailand’s October 2023 digital cover. Besides the handsome gentleman striking us all with his sartorial aesthetics, we couldn’t help but notice the stunning watch from LONGINES’ Master Collection that put the whole look together. So, without further ado, get ready to dive deep with the father of two and the frontman of Getsunova, Name-Prakarn. Keep reading to find out his backstory and life updates in this Q&A.

Q&A with Name-Prakarn Raiva

Could you give us a life update?

We’ve released many songs this year, and there will be a few new projects coming up. We’re also doing an Asia tour in Thailand and outside, like Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

We saw a viral meme about Getsunova losing their confidence. How did that happen?

(Haha). We just released a new song called “khwan (mai) mun jai.” It’s a soundtrack for the Thai drama Something in the Wind on Channel 7. Back to the clip. I like to do a trick with my microphone where I throw and catch the mic. But this time, my game was too slow. There’s also another concert incident. When I climbed over the fence to see the audience, I tripped. So, I lost some confidence there. That’s why people used it as a meme. But it also helped promote our new song (smiles).

Usually, people view you as this cool singer, but who is Name really? What type of person is he?

To be honest, I’m very shy. I don’t like to make eye contact when I talk to people. But being a singer, you can’t be shy. I have two personalities. One is staying at home and seeing friends. The other is when I’m on the stage. There’s just a switch in my head. I have to be a frontman. I have to be a rockstar. But personally, I’m chill and easygoing.

You’re an Arsenal fan. Why this team, and why did you ingrain the Arsenal fan club onto your kids since they were young?

I love football. When I went abroad to study, I witnessed the games in England and loved it. When I went to watch the games, it was when Arsenal won a second league and cup double. I’ve always cheered for Arsenal. I love them so much. I despise Manchester United. I want to ingrain my love for this team onto my kids, so I bought them shirts when they were newborns. My daughter has a genuine kit. They will never have the chance to be a fan of other teams (haha).

You’re now a father of two. How is that going for you?

Looking at myself on the outside, I sometimes think, is it real? Am i actually a father of two? Being a father, I have much more responsibilities. There are more sacrifices I have to make. But it gives my life a bigger purpose. I want to be strong and healthy so I can live a good life and care for my family 100%. My life purpose is now for them, not for me.

My wife has also given me the responsibility of sending my kids to school every morning. I wake up at 7:30 every day to send my kids to school. It’s a good change to my lifestyle. I sleep earlier. And even if I sleep late, I still wake up early. Then I go work out when before I never did that.

What is your definition of quality time?

Every time I go home, especially after a long day at work, when I see my kids, my tiredness is gone. Seeing them, my happiness overcomes this exhaustion. They destress me. I can’t describe it, but many parents will know this feeling. Quality time is super important. I want to spend as much time with my kids. My daughter is currently 4 years old. She’s getting to that stage where she is independent and can spend time alone. Right now, she still needs me. But later on, when she grows up, that will change. She’ll want to be with her friends more. I don’t want to regret not spending time with her as this will happen. So whenever I’m free or after work, I try to be with my two kids as much as possible.

You’re the frontman. Most people assume that the leader always outshines the rest of the members like people will remember you more. What do you think about this?

I feel that this generation doesn’t just look at the singer. They look at the whole group, such as the guitarist, drummer, and so on. I think they’re more educated. Before, they’ll be like, “Oh, this song is good.” Now, it’s more in-depth. It’s become a niche, and they actually are into it. For instance, they’ll say things like, “This guitarist’s solo is so cool.” Some will even go further to discuss sound production.

Has your perspective evolved since entering the music industry?

It’s changed many times. When I first started around the age of 17-18, I was a solo singer. I didn’t want to go back to university during gap year. Plus, who wouldn’t be excited to go to Grammy and make their own CD? However, despite getting in, I faced many failures since it didn’t work out. Then, I formed Getsunova with my friends. We produced super random songs. I don’t even know what it was. The sound was different. We didn’t have any practice. It wasn’t professional. We received lots of criticism, including being labelled as a high society kid’s band.

But everything worked out in the end. After gaining more experience, having lots of practice, and changing our genre to appeal to the masses, we were a hit. Our first release, “Glai Kae Nai Kue Glai,” blew up. When we released that song, we didn’t think much of it. We even said, if not many people listen to it, let’s give up. But when it was released, our lives changed.

Has your passion changed?

Of course. Now, I’m trying to show myself more. We started off as an indie group. Then, we shifted towards mass music. We got to do many jobs, including performing on a massive stage like Big Mountain. We even collaborated with famous artists. But now, I want to go back to creating music that hits me. I currently have a solo project. Then, one with Getsunova. But I want to show the real Name. It’s a different side that no one has seen. Also, I want to test the waters, especially the international market. I believe people are more accepting nowadays, too. It’s my passion project that I have never done. I’m super excited.

Chef Chudaree ‘Tam’ Debhakam & her culinary journey beyond the Michelin world https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/chef-chudaree-tam-debhakam-journey-beyond-michelin/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 03:09:55 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1889112

“Being a successful chef is more than just collecting stars. It’s amazing to have those, but I have other goals and purposes too.”

You’ve probably heard of Chudaree Debhakham, whom people call Chef Tam. Despite being recognised for working in renowned kitchens like Blue Hill at Stone Barn and winning Top Chef Thailand, Tam has made a more prominent name for herself after establishing Baan Tepa. Located in Ramkhamhaeng, the historic compound was converted into a “culinary space:” Tepa Kitchen, Tepa Garden and the house itself. And although cooking is her passion, what’s at the core of Chef Tam is sustainability and culinary experimentation. We see this essence reflect in culinary experimentation are the core of the 31-year-old chef’s food and lifestyle. With that, let’s get to know Chef Tam more as we dive into her culinary journey beyond the Michelin world.

Chef Chudaree ‘Tam’ Debhakam:

On creating something new out of old experiences

As we sat down to talk with the chef, the first question was, what does ‘delicious food’ mean to you? Her reply was quick as her inspiration derives from that. “It’s when you feel something after you eat. Whether the plate of food sparks joy in some way, makes you feel surprised or even reminisce— that’s when you know it’s good.” To make that come true for others, the inspiration for her new menus comes from her old travelling experiences. Tam uses memories from the food and products she’s tried and seen to create something new. “I like to mix and match. I’ll get two elements and see if they would work well together. However, cooking can be difficult. Sometimes my creativity doesn’t work when I force a new menu. It’s like getting pressure to create something. It’s not organic.”

Her purpose beyond the Michelin world

They say receiving a Michelin star is a chef’s highest career point, but for Tam, it’s different. Although Baan Tepa received one MICHELIN star, that was just a stepping stone. “It all depends on how you think and your goal in life. If being in the MICHELIN guide is your highest point, it will be your highest point. If collecting the stars is your dream, that is great too. It’s valid. But I have other goals and purposes for opening a restaurant.”

It’s not just about the awards, Tam told us. She wants to create something and make a difference in the restaurant industry. One of the changes is to shift how Thais view fine dining. However, she’s also considering focusing more on casual dining. “I want to expand the restaurant, establish a different brand. But for Baan Tepa, we still need to do many things like developing sustainability within the restaurant or its operation.”

Some words of wisdom for aspiring chefs

For those with desires to be a Michelin star chef, Tam is here to give a little heads up. One of her advice is to try working in a Michelin-star restaurant first. “See if you like it because there’s a lot of pressure. You need a lot of attention to detail to be in this industry and to perform at that level. Not everyone will like the fine dining or the Michelin restaurant environment.” Another tip she gave is to travel around and do lots of experiments. Chef Tam believes in intensive research and meeting with local producers for skill development.

From a fashion features editor to a wellness & lifestyle director, meet Chalisa ‘Nee’ Viravan https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/fashion-editor-to-wellness-lifestyle-director-chalisa-nee-viravan/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 03:09:30 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1889149

“Despite my past in the fashion world, I’ve always been into wellness and lifestyle.”

Becoming a fashion features editor, especially in a prevalent magazine like Vogue, is a dream for many. But Chalisa ‘Nee‘ Viravan had other plans. Currently, Nee is a wellness and lifestyle director at Scratch First as well as an astrological consultant. Now, some may not know what Scratch First is, but to put it into one word, Wonderfruit. So, without further ado, let’s get to know one of the creators of Wonderfruit, as Nee is here to share the experiences she’s learned along the way.

Chalisa ‘Nee’ Viravan:

Prioritising alone time and self-care

Everyone must think Nee is cool and chic, especially coming from the fashion world, but who is Nee really? Is she the same person she portrays to the outside world? Although some may assume her external appearance makes her outgoing, Nee told us she is pretty private. “Despite people knowing me from the fashion industry, I’ve always been interested in health and wellness. I like to spend time with myself a lot. It’s probably because I took care of myself often when I was young.”

With that habit stemming from her childhood, as she grew older, she realised that being alone aids in better self-reflection. “When you know yourself, you don’t waste time on people, whether it’s your own time or others. It’s crucial to be able to be alone and understand yourself.” Nee added that everyone must do their best to understand themselves, so this knowledge can be spread to others. Plus, once you know what you need and what makes you happy, you can organise your time better. “It’s all about understanding.”

The importance of travelling both externally and internally

Although Nee is not that active on social media, you can see many of her travel photos. To her, whether you’re travelling physically, such as exploring new places, or internally discovering yourself, both are essential for self-development. These two elements go hand-in-hand. “When you travel externally, you’re also travelling internally. Travelling outside, you get to see new things. With that experience, you’re simultaneously journeying with your inner self. Although you can read books about people’s experiences, you need to have your own experiences to know what it’s like. Like food, you have to actually taste it to know the flavours.”

As traveling is Nee’s favourite pastime, she reflects this theme onto Wonderfruit. Even though on the surface many people think of Wonderfruit only as just another music festival, the creators (including Nee) views it as a lifestyle. “It’s a fun and colourful community that invites attendees to explore themselves and others. Wonderfruit goes deeper than just partying and great music. The annual 4 day event brings out a sense of community and togetherness with other people as well as nature and the land itself.”

Finding yourself is possible at any age

Life is constantly changing. We all go through different stages. Your interests in certain things come and go. And that’s why it’s possible to find yourself at any age. “Growing up, I’ve always questioned who I am, why I was born, and even why I am here. These questions made me want to get to know myself even more. It made me who I am today. Having this deep journey can get difficult. It’s very personalised, but it’s very beneficial.”

Being a professional equestrian with Sailub Lertratanachai https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/being-a-professional-equestrian-with-sailub-lertratanachai/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 03:09:22 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1889123

“Catch your dreams, don’t give up on your passions.”

In the world of horse riding, being a professional equestrian takes a lot of time and dedication, like many other sports. But the difference with this field is that your partner is an animal who can’t communicate. Thereby the only way to understand one another is through a strong bond. Meet Sailub Lertratanachai, a part of Thailand’s National Equestrian Team, known for her showjumping competitions.

Sailub Lertratanachai:

How it all began

Despite being a professional swimmer initially due to her petite physique, her dreams of becoming an equestrian started when she first rode a horse. “When I was 9 to 10, my father took me to ride a pony. I’m an animal lover anyways. But, for some reason, something sparked in me when I touched it. As my body grew, I switched to riding bigger horses and knew it was the right path.”

If you’re not into this sport, finding the appeal may be difficult, but for Sailub, it’s her happiest moment. “When I’m on the horse’s back, everything shuts down. It’s just me and the horse.” She also told us that the charm is how her competitors and partners are animals. Since they are living non-verbal things, she has to try to understand them. And that’s what makes being an equestrian so special. “It’s the bond. In this sport, we have this equation 1+1 = 2. One is me, and the other is the horse. We have to work together to fill the equation— to succeed. That’s why you have to take care of your horse well. I even talk to my horses.”

On being a professional equestrian

Like every professional athlete, practice is vital, but what’s an equestrian schedule like because the horse needs training too? When we asked Sailub this, she told us it’s a weekly plan and depends on an upcoming competition, if there’s any. “If I have a match that week, the schedule would be according to that match. For example, if it’s showjumping, we’ll focus on showjumping more. But usually, it’s like going to the gym. One day you’ll focus on cardio, the other strength.”

However, it’s all about caring for yourself and the horses too. To succeed, brushing, washing, feeding, and bonding with the horses is necessary. The same goes for one’s body. “I’m an outdoor girl. Besides horse riding, I like to swim and recently crossfit. If the two are healthy, we’re more ready for the competition.”

Nevertheless, how does one know what their horse is feeling or their needs? “The most challenging part of being an equestrian is guessing and feeling their (horse) vibe to fix the problem. That comes more naturally when the bond is stronger. Also, regardless of how often u practice, whether one year or every day, anything can happen in this sport. It’s important to have lots of patience, practice, and to always be determined.”

Eknaree ‘Be’ Wachirabunjong on the pressures of show business and starting young https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/eknaree-wachirabunjong-on-the-pressures-of-show-business/ Fri, 01 Sep 2023 03:08:56 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1889190

“I want my work to be more than just entertainment. I want it to touch people, their emotions, thoughts, and how they live. There needs to be something for them to take home.”

Undoubtedly, the pressures of following your parent’s footsteps are overbearing. Whether the stress comes from outside sources or yourself, there’s always a little voice in the back of the mind of always being in your parent’s shadow. Yet, all one can honestly do is try. And that’s what Eknaree ‘Be‘ Wachirabunjong is doing as she follows her passion and her parents’ footsteps in Thailand’s show business.

Eknaree ‘Be’ Wachirabunjong:

On going to set as a kid versus now

With her parents, Pongpat Wachirabunjong and Thanya Wachirabunjong, well-known in the Thai entertainment industry, going to set was a regular thing for Be. “It all started with my mom and dad. They were the base, the starting point of my interest in this industry. I would go on set with them, play around, and joke with the team as a kid. I enjoyed the environment.”

However, being in production as a kid versus an adult is very different. When we asked, Be told us she didn’t recognise the stress and pressure in movie making. It only really hit her when she started her internship there. “My parents allow me to begin with small things like helping with castings. But when I was a kid, I was there to have fun. Now that I produce and direct, I have to create new ideas and solve problems on set. I have much more responsibilities. I have to take care of many things daily to make it happen. Although the fun isn’t the same, it’s still exciting because I encounter new things and think of ways to resolve issues.”

The pressure from others and herself

As Be’s parents were known for producing and directing the critically acclaimed Thai film Me… Myself, we can only imagine the pressure on her. She told us her parents never told her what path to focus on. They only just guide and support her choices. However, she feels like she’s living in their shadow for life because they did really well in show business. “To be honest, it’s me. I’m creating this pressure on myself. At least I try to turn this pressure into motivation.”

She further added how she experiences pressure from others. For instance, the audience’s feedback from her production. But at the end of the day, regardless of all the stress and self-doubt, she’s grateful for her team. “I’ve had times where I asked, is this what I really wanted because I’ve encountered many heavy problems. I’m glad I have such a fantastic team that has helped me. They’ve made me realise that this is where I want to be. Whatever feedback we get, good or bad, I know we did our best and gave our all.”

Advice for newcomers entering show business

As we ended our chit-chat, Be had two pieces of advice she wanted to share. To succeed in show business, one must be flexible. “We work with a lot of people. For me, especially a lot of older seniors. They have their different way of thinking. You must be able to blend old-school thoughts with the new. Being open-minded and accepting is important.”

Her second tip is to have good communication, which will help resolve conflicts much quicker and more efficiently. “Working in production, whatever job you have, we are all a team. When I’m directing, it’s not just my ideas. It’s a team project. You have to listen to everyone’s opinions if there’s a dispute. If one person doesn’t agree or has other ideas with reason, you have to be open to them.”

Work, life, and happiness: A conversation with Jumpol ‘Off’ Adulkittiporn https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/work-life-conversation-jumpol-off/ Fri, 05 May 2023 07:37:37 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873730

On Lifestyle Asia Thailand’s May Digital Cover, Jumpol ‘Off‘ Adulkittiporn shares a different side to him many don’t get to see. Get ready to find out Off’s true self and his secrets to work, life, and happiness.

Starring in many Thai films and series is Jumpol Adulkittiporn, whom many know as Off. His career kickstarted when he was scouted by Nuttapong Mongkolsawas, a director and executive at GMMTV. He started as one of the hosts for the program Five Live Fresh. However, after the show ended, Off landed his first lead role in Room Alone: The Series the following year. However, the 32-year-old has gained a lot of fame and a large fan base from participating in a Y-series called Theory of Love. Throughout his journey in the acting industry, Off also landed a role in another Thai drama Astrophile. He even won the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2022 as Thailand’s national winner under best actor in a supporting role.

With that, we invited the talented young man to be the face of LSA’s May digital cover. Also, with a watch as luxurious as OMEGA, who will not notice how Off wears this timepiece on his right wrist? A bit weird for a right-handed person, but let’s find out more of his inner thoughts below.

Since you’re in your 30s, have your perspectives on life and work changed?

Everything changed. When I first started in this industry, I was in my early 20s. Without a doubt, the first month, I gave all my earnings to my family, but after I made more money, I was spending a lot more. However, the more I grew up, the more careful I am with my spending. This began when I started to have a goal of what I wanted to do and what kind of house I wanted. I even pictured how my life would be in my 40s and 50s.

Also, I lived my life to the fullest during my teenage years. I was stubborn too. I would do everything my way rather than change. But now, I accept everything. Things I shouldn’t do, I stop, and I even apologise first.

People always see you messing around, joking and being friendly, but who are you really when you’re alone?

I don’t talk to people at all. I often wake up to work at 6 AM, and when I return home at 10 PM, the first thing I do is sit down. I need to cool down for 30 minutes to eliminate negative energy and be alone; then, I can start doing other things. When I am outside, I use a lot of energy, so when I come home, I need to heal myself a bit. Before, I was an introvert. Many people don’t believe me when I say that, but I don’t fit in with society well. It sounds confusing, but I have changed ever since I started working in this industry. As time went by, I became more confident. Also, it’s my job too.

What do you think is the reason why your fans love you so much?

Because I am myself and I am usually always in a good mood. I am a straightforward person. If I didn’t like something someone did, I would say, “It’s not good. Don’t do it.” But, if something is good, I would compliment them. I always put communication at the forefront because good communication lets you understand each other well. It also makes the relationship last.

Can you tell us something cute that you encountered with your fan club?

To be honest, I never thought in my life that when I travel abroad, people would send me off at the airport. I’m unsure if it’s too much, but it’s such an amazing feeling. It’s something I never thought I would have, let alone experience in this lifetime. I get so excited when I travel. Once, I went to Hong Kong alone and didn’t tell anyone. But after landing, I stumbled upon my fan club; around 40 people were waiting for me. Although I greeted them, I couldn’t speak Chinese. Luckily, there was Prouw, one of my fans from Hong Kong, who spoke Thai. She also helped me arrange transportation and even took me to meet the driver. I was so happy she offered to help me. I thank her for everything and hope to see her in Hong Kong again.

If your fan club starts to like someone new, how will you manage your feelings?

This is a normal situation. I’ve been working for 10 to 20 years now, and that’s a lot. It’s normal to have new entertainers come in when I get older— it’s a cycle. I just need to find a way to live with it. It’s not that serious. I used to be in that position, and if it’s all gone one day, it’s okay. I started with no fan base. I understand I will eventually have to go back to where I started. I have accepted it.

Would you do it if you had to choose between sacrificing something important to you to reach your highest point of success?

If sacrificing something makes you reach your goals, you must ask yourself, will this act make you happier? Recently, I feel that I haven’t achieved my goals much, but I have so much joy. For me, when I get a job, I have already succeeded because my main goal is to be happy with every situation. If I’m unhappy with my work, I wouldn’t be able to handle it or last this long. Am I right? That’s why I make my life fun by accepting jobs that I love and performing them well. If I didn’t love it, I would look at it from a different perspective by trying to see the positive side.

What would you tell yourself ten years ago and in ten years?

My life ten years ago, I used it very well. I would thank my old self for growing up quickly, as I learned a lot of things when I was young. It made me not want to know or try anything else now. When I’m 40, I hope to have a strong body and be sure about my life. I hope I don’t have to stress about work anymore. I want to travel and live my life to the fullest then because, at that age, you still can. It’s best to do what you want if you have the energy and be happy

These are Jumpol ‘Off’ Adulkittiporn’s top 5 daily essentials https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/jumpol-off-5-daily-essentials/ Fri, 05 May 2023 07:37:33 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873708

Jumpol ‘Off’ Adulkittiporn tells LSA his top five daily essential items, and one of them is his underwear!

Every individual always has a few items they carry every day with them. Whether that be their phone, wallet, or vape, we all have certain things we cannot live without. With that, LSA is here with the Thai actor, model, and host Jumpol Adulkittiporn, aka Off. Known for his main roles in Thai series like Theory of LoveNot Me and Astrophile, this 32-year-old has grown a lot in his life and if you’ve ever wondered what his secret is to success, here are his top five daily essentials. Keep on reading to find out what these items are.

Off-Jumpol’s 5 must-have items

Eyewear

An essential item for many people is eyewear. Carrying these around is needed whether one wears optical glasses or sunnies. This item does more than just protect your eyes. It can create a different persona or, in this case, make you seem awake when tired. Even Off agrees. He told us he picks up glasses first because sometimes he has early morning work. “My eyes don’t work well with light, especially in the morning. That’s why I wear sunglasses to deceive people into thinking I still look on point. It also gives me this cool look.”

Bag

Whether you’re a man or woman, most have a bag to hold their essential items. This is even more important if you’re working a 9 to 5. One could carry a handbag, backpack, purse, fanny pack, or any type of bag to store their precious belongings. Now, what about a career like acting— a job requiring one to take special care of themselves? Well, Off said his second must-have item is his personal bag, whichever he chooses in his collection. “I’m the type of person who carries a lot of things, especially when working in a Thai drama production. I like to bring a huge bag, and inside is a script, makeup, water bottle, and many other things necessary for the set.

Watch

If you’re a forgetful person, wearing a watch can sometimes be a lifesaver. Just turn your wrist, and you will know how much time you have left. With watching allowing you to know what time it is, being a busy performer like Off, this product is very much needed. “I wear a watch every day, and I never forget. It sort of became a habit. I also wear my watch on my right wrist even though I’m right-handed. Isn’t that confusing? (haha). I think I got this from my family since they also wear their watch on their right.”

Underwear

“The next item I cannot live without is underwear because when I leave the house without it, I don’t feel that confident.” Although the fourth item Off was saying in a joking tone, we do understand why. Underwear gives us comfort. It also protects our area, and with Off being an actor, it makes sense how he could get wet in some scenes. With that, having extra underwear lying around is crucial. Even Thai actress, Plengkwan carries extra intimate wear in her car just in case.

Lip balm

It’s not only females who have dry lips, men, too, experience this. Personal hygiene and self-care are essential for the mind, body, and health. Although some may overlook the lips since it is a small area, moisturising this part is required because who wants chapped, flakey, and peeling lips? Just by not having this area moist, it can make one look old, and that’s why this item is Off’s fifth essential. “I have very dry lips, and that’s why I always carry a lip balm. Regardless of who I am with or where I am at, this item is always with me no matter what.”

Jumpol Adulkittiporn’s influence in Y-series & thoughts on #OffGun https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/jumpol-influence-y-series-offgun/ Fri, 05 May 2023 07:37:30 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873916

The iconic Thai duo that made the Y-series industry boom both in the country and internationally here is #OffGun.

For those who don’t know what the OffGun fandom is, LSA is here to fill you in on the loop. The shipment comprises two Thai actors, Jumpol ‘Off‘ Adulkittiporn and Atthaphan ‘Gun‘ Phunsawat. These two rose to fame after starring in the Thai series Senior Love: Puppy Honey, playing the side couple. The duo gained much fan attention throughout the show due to their looks, talent, and electric chemistry, enabling them to feature in various programs together.

But let’s go back in time, around ten years ago, when the Y-series industry in Thailand has yet to pop off. To get the gist of what the Y-series is, the genre revolves around male homoeroticism. Although Thailand may seem like a country that is quite accepting of this matter, this topic was still taboo at that time, especially when pairing two men as couples on television. However, everything changed when the Thai media company, GMM TV, launched its first Y-series Sotus in 2016. Now, to this day, the Y-series genre has become Thailand’s major entertainment export and with that comes the OffGun ship (that was actually an experiment at first). Today LSA has seized one of the heartthrobs Off-Jumpol, where he tells us his influence in Y-series, thoughts on OffGun, and even some secret working tips.

Being the first to step into the Y-series

As we know, the Y-series in the Thai industry were almost non-existent at that period, but that was the challenge Off was willing to take. “During that time, this genre was new. There had been no entertainment companies that produced the Y-series seriously. That’s why I felt like this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If I hadn’t taken this chance or was too picky, I would have wasted this opportunity. Honestly, I didn’t know how the feedback would be after I accepted the role. I simply took the job because I felt like it was a good challenge.”

Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey was the first Y-series show Off starred in, where he was paired with Gun-Atthaphan. Their undeniable chemistry set the duo off as they trended all over social media with the #OffGun. With that, the two were the first to make a wave in the Thai drama industry, where a male-to-male couple was taken seriously for the first time. “OffGun has been together for seven years, and we are still very invincible. I’m glad we have lasted this long, but what is really important is our fan club. If it weren’t for them, we would have never been able to make it where we are today.”

The Y-series fan club

Off also told us how happy he is about the expansion of the Thai Y-series industry and how accepting society has been. The gifted actor said the credit goes not only to the great acting but also to the fans. “Our increasing number of fans has allowed the company to continually create and produce new shows, making Y-series more popular.” Without his fan clubs, this would not happen. Thanks to them, this genre has grown wide, evening becoming massively exported in the foreign market.

Off describes this phenomenon as putting his finger in still water— from a slight movement to a vast wave spreading widely. “When we started doing the Y-series in Thailand, other countries began acknowledging this genre. As a result, the appearance of Y-series shows started abroad, too, and it just keeps gradually evolving. From only existing in series, it is now showcased at events and is still expanding today.”

Thoughts on #OffGun

Before we ended our little chitchat, we asked Off his thoughts on the shipment of OffGun. He said the secret to why they lasted this long was communication. “In the beginning, there was a period where we didn’t understand each other. We sometimes argued, but that’s normal. But, the more we worked together, we started to understand each other’s behaviours. When we had jobs come in, we would ask each other if this was okay for us. If one of us didn’t like something or wanted to do a certain thing, we would talk it out. This is why we were able to work together for so long. Communication is important.” With that, Off’s last words were to his fantastic partner in crime, Gun. “Gun is very talented. He is the best partner I could ask for. I’m grateful we don’t argue and work together with mutual understanding.

A passion for fashion: diving deep into the style of Off-Jumpol https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/passion-for-fashion-off-jumpol/ Fri, 05 May 2023 07:37:28 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873880

From Ryan Gosling to James Dean, Off-Jumpol tells us about his fashion icons and how his passion for fashion began.

More than just a Y-series actor with a large fan base, Jumpol ‘Off’ Adulkittiporn is also known as a fashion icon. Our May digital cover star is making a wave in the social media world. Off has been making a name for himself by joining many events and collaborating with various world-class brands. With that, he has become the country’s new fashion icon that many companies want to work with.

Besides shooting for the fashion set with OMEGA, LSA chit-chatted with the Thai celeb to find out how his passion for fashion began. We see his mixing and matching skills, proving Off knows how to dress. He also started his clothing brand, Land of Something. Ever wondered where his style inspiration comes from? Read more to find out.

The start: University

They say college is when you create and capture the most experience and memories, which is true (to a certain extent). Even Off told us that the lessons he encountered during university helped shape who he is today. It’s not just his personality that stuck with him, but also his lifestyle and his love for fashion.

Before the interview started, Off put his hand on his heart and smiled. “I love it. Fashion is something I have been interested in since college.” Having studied in the Faculty of Information and Communications Technology at Silpakorn University, he told us he was exposed to a new world. “It’s because I met so many people and had different types of friends. Some liked fashion, others listened to music, and some were obsessed with watching movies. I like the production behind making advertisements. I’m interested in TV programmes. Being like this makes me want to do everything. I want to be able to do anything.”

From a consumer to a creator

More than just a consumer Off has turned himself into a fashion creator. He has opened a clothing brand, Land of Something, with cute prints and fresh colours. Off defines his brand as “it’s some kind of land. For me, I don’t have a fixed definition of the brand. It’s just something I want to happen.” Although that statement may sound confusing and broad, Off meant he didn’t want to limit his brand to a specific niche. He simply wants to make fashionable clothing for people to wear. But honestly, it seems like this is the space for him to release whatever idea he has.

“I start with a particular idea I like a lot. For example, if I like this type of flower a lot, I will want to make a collection with this design. Or even space, I will design something with space-like patterns. It’s all about what I am interested in at that time. Then I will want to present it in a certain way.” Sounds quite interesting, but what truly makes this brand stand out is that it goes all out in the designs and colours. Land of Something uses simple silhouettes that can be worn daily, such as sweaters, T-shirts, bags, hoodies, and more. For Off’s new product, we’ll have to wait and see what cool visions he has in the future.

Off’s fashion icons

Undoubtedly, fashion experts and even influencers must get some sort of inspiration from somewhere or someone. Of course, everyone takes bits and pieces as inspiration and personalises them to their own aesthetic. With that, Off told us about his two fashion icons, actors Ryan Gosling and James Dean.

“These two has very different taste in fashion, and that’s what I like. I like to take a bit of this and that from certain people’s aesthetics and mix it. It starts with seeing how someone dresses and thinking if it matches who I am. However, regarding fashion icons, the first has to be Ryan Gosling because his look is so cool. The other is James Dean. Although they’re from different periods, their style perfectly matches when combined. For example, a T-shirt, jeans paired with Converse or even boots, this fit looks good in any era.”

Ryan Gosling the king of casual wear. No matter where he is, whether he is on the red carpet, at an interview, or even strolling on the streets, Gosling is always put together. His aesthetic is classic and elegant, yet giving off nostalgic American with his white tee paired with washed-out, faded jeans. It is minimalism with taste. Something that looks effortless, but when Gosling wears it, it is instantly cool. Even his suits aren’t over the top compared to others who do too much and end up looking ringarde. No wonder Gosling became Gucci’s new muse.

Moving over to James Dean, America’s bad boy in the 1950s. Besides having a pretty face, the actor was revolutionary, making him a cultural icon. One of the things he was known for was his style which mixed classics with modernity and comfort. The famous “James Dean look” was a denim or leather jacket with a white tee, jeans, and Converse. To this day, this combination is still widely used and remains timeless.

Now that we understand these two’s fashion sense let’s get back to Off. He told LSA that combining these two styles to make it his own is the hardest thing to do. “All of the pieces and clothing I have, I bought it myself. I gather everything I see and match it to my persona and liking. I never limit myself when it comes to fashion. Who says I can’t wear female items? I can carry a woman’s bag, even wear female pants, and I won’t be ashamed. I love to mix and match clothing. It helps me discover new things and broaden my horizons in fashion.”

LSA Style Anatomy: 5 ways Off-Jumpol styles his outfits with OMEGA https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/5-ways-off-jumpol-outfits-omega/ Fri, 05 May 2023 07:37:26 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1873918

From strolling around the streets of Tokyo to going to a TV show award, these are some ways Off-Jumpol likes to style himself based on the watches he wears.

More than just an actor, Jumpol Adulkittiporn aka Off, is also known as Thailand’s fashion icon. His passion for fashion started when he was in university and is still on going to this day. Taking inspiration from famous actors such as Ryan Gosling and James Dean, Off also likes to take bits and pieces from his surroundings to create his own aesthetic. What is extraordinary about the gifted entertainer is that he doesn’t care whether these items are for men or women. Regardless of what society thinks and the labels they put on certain clothing or products, Off chooses his own path, and wears what he believes would best suit him. And that is why he loves watches. As timepieces are gender neutral, what better way to pair his outfits than with the luxurious and renown brand OMEGA.

For more information, please visit OMEGA boutiques at Central Embassy 02-160-5959, Siam Paragon 02-129-4878 and Central Phuket Floresta 076-510-818. Add their LINE Offical Account: OMEGAThailand or click here

1

Yacht party look at Ocean Marina Pattaya

For Off’s first look, he chooses to wear a stripe shirt to give off that ‘fresh out the boat’ vibe. And being a fashion icon that he is, he pairs the top with snake skin trousers and a very unique pointy black footwear. He’s also wearing the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in Saffron.

2

Work dinner duty look

As he finds out after filming that he has to attend a sit down dinner, Off choses to be different from the rest by wearing a blue suit. With him being a watch lover, he chooses the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in Bay Green.

3

The cool bad boy

Tonight Off is heading to Aqua at Anantara, therefore he chooses to dress up like a cool bad boy. He is wearing a comfortable brown long sleeve zip up top with the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in Terracotta.

4

Heading to a TV Award

Being the talented actor he is, Off was invited to a TV award show ( not to mention, he’s already won one). With that, he is wearing a black over-sized suit that is giving off Ryan Gosling. Put together, yet effortless, the look also has a Japanese twist. And of course, we cannot forget the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in Sandstone.

5

All denim look

As he’s strolling around the streets of Tokyo, Off chooses to wear something casual, yet put together. With that, his last look is all denim. Inspired by one of his fashion icons, James Dean, he is wearing a short sleeve denim top with denim bottoms. However, he has added his own aesthetics. He is also wearing the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in Sandstone.

Nattaya ‘Plengkwan’ Thongsaen on modelling, acting, and staying fit https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/plengkwan-life-model-act/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 02:55:44 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1868269

“The most important thing to have at work is good discipline.”

Known for participating in The Face Thailand Season 3, the Thai model, Nattaya ‘Plengkwan‘ Thongsaen, started her acting career a few years ago. The 25-year-old has starred in many Thai dramas as a leading actress. Some TV shows include The GiverThe Last Room No.6Kiss of the Cobra, and Blood Brothers. With such a busy schedule juggling two jobs, Plengkwan sits down with LSA to chat about how she stays sane and healthy. She also talks about her challenges in the 21st century, and the lessons learned. Let’s see what this talented woman say.

What are your currently working on?

I am currently shooting for the series Duangjai Jom Krabi under Channel One, where I play a confident doctor. I think it will be released by the end of this year. Although many people may view doctors as nerds, this script is entirely different. In this role, I play a fierce doctor. She is intelligent, academic, a leader, and a bit masculine. For modelling, I also have some catwalk jobs.

Has your perspective on the entertainment industry changed after being in it for a while?

I’ve worked in the entertainment industry for 7-8 years, so it has definitely changed. Before, when I was a newcomer, I didn’t have that fire inside me. My passion was clear, but the reality of the working environment is not always pretty. I was faced with negative comments, and some days I questioned myself. Yeah, there were some challenges, but I proudly say that I am stronger today, especially with the many new faces in the industry. I also must improve daily because there are so many talented and beautiful people nowadays. I need to find my strengths and what makes me stand out. I needed to see what I am good at to further develop that skill.

My thoughts on modelling versus acting… I prefer modelling much more because I love to dress up. I love to take photos. I like being an actress, but it’s much more complicated. I may not be that great at acting as compared to modelling, but that’s because I started my career as a model.

What advice have you received from someone in the industry that you’ve used in real life?

From Metinee ‘Lukkade’ Kingpayom. She and I have been together since I entered this industry. I am the type of person who cares about everything in this world. Then came one day when Lukkade told me I didn’t need to care about everyone or anything because I was not burdening them. She told me to shift my focus on my goals and to accept criticism to better myself. But, sometimes, these comments do get to me. There was a time when I got really sad. The only way to fix that was not to read comments, or my power to strive would deteriorate slowly.

What is the hardest part of modelling versus acting?

The hardest part of being an actress starts when you get the role and have to break into character. For example, I was stressed in my first Thai series Dokkaew Kahlong because I was in the lead role. This show had a lot of drama, so I had to learn and attend workshops. I slowly adapted, and with the help of the team and friends in production with me, it started to get better. I’m fortunate to have worked with talented people that shared and taught me many things.

Moving over to being a model, the hardest part is finding that internal energy that will help you shine externally. Compared to catwalks, everyone walks the same, but how can we make ourselves stand out? That’s what we have to practice and develop. For me, I like taking stills more.

What role would you like to play in the future?

I would like to play the villain, such as a mistress. The roles I play are usually sweet and shy. It’s what many people see me as, someone who is polite and sweet. I want to change that view of myself to someone more fierce and spicier since people think I should only play the lead ‘good girl.’

What traits do you think a good actor should have?

Discipline. It’s not just about taking care of your looks; it’s about discipline. It’s about how hard you are willing to work to develop yourself because acting 10 years ago compared to now isn’t the same. Every day we move forward, and the same goes for being a performer. We have to notice the changes in society and the industry. We must constantly think about what acting is like nowadays and adapt to that. Therefore, discipline and working on ourselves is vital for our success. This also goes for everything in life.

What do you want to do in the future?

Honestly, there isn’t a specific thing I want to do in the future. Right now, I enjoy my two careers, being an actor and a model. I want to excel even more at these two occupations. I want everyone to see how much I can accomplish without changing who I am. I am still finding myself, finding what makes me stand out, so I want to try out different roles.

Regarding modelling, I have been focusing little on that side because I’m putting all my energy into acting. I’m not modelling like how I was before, but if I had the chance, like I said previously, I want to be a better model. Currently, I am making my Instagram account prettier as it is what many people see as their first impression. It’s also a working outlet for me, like a portfolio for future jobs.

What advice would you give to newcomers in this industry?

Discipline is the most important thing you can have. The reason for this is that when we choose to do something, for me, being an actress and a model, I need to do the best I can in both. I have to put my all and find the passion for my job. What’s even more important is to remember to rest. Don’t think you can handle everything when working so hard because, eventually, you’ll burn out. I’ve been there. I was working nonstop and using other people’s disappointment to keep going to the point where I forgot what I loved to do and wanted to be. I was too busy listening to other people.

How I got past that stage was rest. I rested my body and my mind. It might also be with age. Before I started as the new kid on the block. I cared so much about others, but in reality, we can choose to care or not. The main aspects to take away are good work discipline and adequate rest.

LSA Style Anatomy: 7 ways to style Cherilon by Nattaya ‘Plengkwan’ https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/7-style-cherilon/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 02:55:41 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1868683

Don’t know how to style a cute bra? LSA has got you covered with some outfits for inspiration.

This time for LSA Style Anatomy, we welcome the fabulous model and actress Nattaya ‘Plengkwan‘ Thongsaen to be on the March cover for Lifestyle Asia Thailand. The talented 25-year-old loves to dress up, and today she shows us 7 ways to style Cherilon bras. What’s great about this brand is that their seamless bra collection can be worn as an everyday look. If you’re chilling at home, walking on the beach, attending a fashion show, or even at work, Cherilon will boost your confidence no matter what.

For further information, visit Cherilon’s website.

1

Weekend Vibes

Starting off with the first look is a chilled outfit. Perfect for lounging around at home, it’s giving weekend vibes. Plengkwan tells us that she chose this specific outfit because it’s comfortable and great for being at home, as she pairs Cherilon’s Tee Bra with long trousers. What makes this bra super comfortable is that it is seamless. Smooth, wire-free with no hook in the back, the bra is a mix of nylon and spandex, which makes it stretchy. The Tee Bra comes in short and long versions.

2

Smart & Casual

“With Thailand’s hot weather, I like to wear a bra instead of a tank top under my blazer. I call this look smart and casual because I can go socialise with my friends after work easily.” The bra she is wearing is also Cherilon’s Tee Bra, but the longer model. This version is excellent as a going out top. Mixed with nylon and spandex, this bra is wireless without hooks.

3

Girls Only Party

Besides Cherilon’s bras being great for a chilled day, the brand’s product is also perfect for a party with the girls. “For a private party with the girlies, I’ll wear something a bit sexier. Showing off my legs as I wear the Bubble Bra in Lavender. I’m only wearing a long coat to cover up.” For this lightweight and seamless collection, there is no underwire. However, the padding will indeed emphasise the chest area.

4

Fashion Check-In

Another look Plengkwan wanted to style for us is the fashion show fit. In this look, she chose to wear Cherilon’s Slim Bra in Pink. “I was invited to attend a fashion show. I wanted a sleek look, so I matched this pink bra with a long black fringed skirt.” The Slim Bra has adjustable straps and a three-row hook, making it easy to wear and giving the girlies much support and stability. This item also compliments the body, creating a more rounded breast, especially with the padding inside. Anyone who wears this is ensured not to have that armpit bulge that many women are self-conscious about.

5

Beach Walk

The ribbed Cherilon Candy Bra radiates a playful spirit. Hookless and wireless, this seamless bra is ideal for everyday wear. Giving complete coverage on the side, the V-cut in front and Smart Pad padding helps create a lovely silhouette that hugs the chest. “This outfit I call the ‘Beach Walk’ because it is perfect for evening walks on the beach. I’m wearing this white top and shorts set with the Candy Bra in Pink underneath. Just imagine when the sun sets; the weather isn’t too hot, and the wind is blowing in your hair. This is the outfit I would wear, wouldn’t you?”

6

Self-care Day

“One of my favourite activities is self-care. Taking care of yourself, such as getting my nails done or going to the hair salon, is relaxing. Therefore, I chose these flowy white pants and a shirt to cover up. For the inside, I’m wearing the Freshy Bra.” This model is great for casual days as the fabric is soft and flexible. Wearers will not feel claustrophobic with the soft touch, adjustable hooks, and removable sponge.

7

Business Lunch

“I have an important appointment to discuss a project today, so I chose a white suit to give the ultimate businesswoman look. To add colour, I wore a pink bra to give a fun vibe. When working, I button up the suit, but when I’m done, best believe the buttons are coming off.” Plengkwan is wearing Cherilon’s wireless NOOM Collection. The fabric is made from Jelly Elastic, making the texture smooth like skin— super comfortable, like wearing nothing. Also, the bra won’t destroy the skin due to the material combined with Cherilon’s Bonding technique. With the help of 3D padding, there is no need to fret about confidence!

Being an actress and the importance of a good bra: Nattaya-Plengkwan’s experience https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/plengkwan-and-good-bra/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 02:55:26 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1868676

To be a good actress is to wear the right bra that supports any activity.

Some may wonder how bras and acting relate to one another. The answer is every woman wants to be comfortable in their own skin, and to truly be comfortable starts from the inside. That’s why we pick Cherilon. Their bras aren’t only cute and stylish, but they come with functions that make you feel confident and ready to take on the day. Even actress and model Nattaya ‘Plengkwan‘ Thongsaen agrees, as she states that being a good actress starts with wearing the right bra. Read on to see what else she has to say about this topic.

The concerns of a female actress

In conversation with Plengkwan, she explained that most actresses worry about cleanliness, as sometimes there’s no place to shower on set. “Sometimes we shoot in the forest, and it’s not that clean.” Another concern is changing rooms. As a model, Plengkwan is used to changing her clothes anywhere. Sometimes she’s even waiting for her clothes in only her bra and underwear. “I don’t think it’s bad because I’m not completely nude.” However, changing clothes at production sites is an entirely different story. “Sometimes I don’t think, and when I am about to remove my clothes, everyone gasps and tells me not to. I forget that the work culture there is different to modelling. There are a lot of people, and that’s why I’m constantly reminded to be careful and cautious.”

Plengkwan’s essentials

With many years in the entertainment industry, Plengkwan has learned what she needs to bring to have a smooth shoot. One of the items she first listed was a gym outfit “in case I have the time to exercise.” The second was clean clothes for emergencies. She also carries a cold towel to wipe herself, and a cooling spray. Other than that, she takes a foldable chair with her. “We film in the forest, and sometimes there’s nowhere to sit. They have plastic chairs, but bringing your own is much better, so I can lean back, relax, and maybe take a cheeky nap. A blanket is necessary too.”

However, Plengkwan has exclusively told us that a bra is the most critical item of all. “I cannot leave the house without a spare bra. I always have one in my car, no matter what.” Perhaps she received this habit from her mom. Her mother would always tell her she could get wet or be in a situation where she needed to change. “That is why having a spare bra and underwear is beneficial.” An example she gave was she sometimes stays over at her friend’s house when it’s late and difficult to go home. By having this item, she can be relaxed because she has something clean to wear.

Plengkwan mostly wears nude bras in case she has to wear a white top during shoots. In her closet, most of her bras are either nude or black.

The importance of a good bra for actresses when filming

Plengkwan tells us that bras are important for actresses as wearing the right bra can provide good support and comfort, easing distraction. “I like wireless and seamless bras because you won’t see them when I wear a tight shirt. Especially ones without hooks, or straps, and with a smooth texture; I adore those because they’re comfortable.”

With most of her shooting sites in the forest, she must wear comfortable and breathable clothing. However, the model said there was one incident where she wore a thick, tight bra squeezing her skin. “I’m allergic to sweat, so I got a red rash when I started sweating. I was not comfortable. I did not feel confident.”

When Plengkwan works, she likes to have complete focus and no disruptions. With that bra discomfort, it showed in her work. “When I’m comfortable inside, it will show on the outside and vice versa.” Therefore, she stated that if the bra incident did not happen, she would have been able to put her energy and focus into her work much better.

As we know, on set, every single take is always different. Performers must keep trying until they achieve the best take that satisfies the producers and themselves. The difference with modelling is that the client provides a brief, but actors must perform from the heart. With that, Plengkwan says, “acting comes with homework. It’s harder.” Thereby, she needs something that will give her complete support, like a good bra. “Bras are vital as they help me work better and smoother because it allows me not to worry about the little things.”

5 reasons why we love Cherilon https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/5-reasons-cherilon/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 02:55:12 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1868673

Looking for a brand that produces good bras? Cherilon is the brand for you, and here are five reasons why.

Investing in a good bra is vital for every woman, as wearing the wrong one can lead to pain, bad posture, and skin abrasions. A good bra can literally change a lady’s life, which is why we choose Cherilon, a lingerie brand that women can trust. Although the Thai label is known for its stockings, they also produce various other items, including bras. Coming in different styles and made from high-quality materials, Cherilon bras help elevate the look of everyday apparel. Don’t believe us? Keep on reading to find out why Cherilon bras are the best.

1. Material

The first thing that makes a good bra is the material. Choosing a bra with the right fabric is essential for many reasons. For example, certain materials can irritate the skin and affect how the clothes fit on the body. Yet with this knowledge, Cherilon makes sure their bras aren’t only stylish but also comfortable for wearers. The brand uses mainly spandex and nylon, which are ideal for bras. Nylon is a lightweight yet strong fabric. It has waterproof qualities as it is moisture-wicking. Individuals can go on with their day without worrying about sweat from their daily activities. Also, this material is stretchy and won’t irritate the skin.

Spandex, on the other hand, aids in elasticity. This material is crucial as it helps women feel and look good by giving that extra stretch for the perfect fit. As many females have a menstrual cycle, buying bras containing spandex is ideal. The chest area can feel bigger during this time of the month, and bras with spandex will aid in relaxing the tight feeling. Therefore, since Cherilon uses a combination of nylon and spandex, these two make a great duo, creating a high-quality bra.

2. Affordability

Nowadays, finding an affordable bra made from high-quality materials is hard. However, Cherilon does not disappoint, as all their products are reasonably priced. Their focus on quality yet affordable garments helps set them apart from their competitors. Cherilon bras are what you call a bang for your buck. For example, their seamless collection starts ranges from THB 550 to THB 1290. Not to mention, they have good deals as well.

3. Style

Cherilon bras are comfortable to wear and perfect for any occasion. Many of their bras serve different functions, which is great for wearing under clothing or on its own. Customers can find everything they need in various styles with this brand. If buyers want a bra that moulds the breasts nicely, try opting for the Slim bra. This line creates a rounded shape in the chest area that compliments the body. Interested in something more fun and playful? Try the Tee Bra. It comes in two designs that can be mixed and matched into many looks and is perfect as a crop top.

4. Colours

Basic coloured bras are a must-have in every woman’s closet as they goes with everything. However, for consumers who desire a more playful vibe, Cherilon can still cater to those needs. The brand carries neutral tones such as nudes, black, brown, and white, as well as lively shades of pink, blue, lavender, green and more. With their wide range of colours, there is always something for everyone.

5. Design

Cherilon’s bras come in various designs. In this case, let’s zoom in on their seamless collection. Coming in many models — for instance, Candy, Slim, Freshy, Bubble, Tee Bra, and NOOM Collection — all the designs are functional and comfortable, yet sexy. The first noteworthy factor includes the breathability of the bras, as sometimes wearing this item can feel tight on the chest. However, with Cherilon’s well-thought-out design, there is no need to worry about this. All Cherilon bras will make you feel confident as they hug the chest area. The additional padding aids in giving the girlies a beautiful silhouette.

With the use of nylon and spandex for most of its bras, these materials give the body the perfect shape. The softness of the fabric and smoothness that it provides makes clothing fit better. Yet, if shoppers are too lazy to wear a top, there is no need to worry. These bras were also designed to be worn independently as an everyday look. The hookless options such as Candy and Tee are great as a crop top. Wear Cherilon’s bras outside, and all eyes will be on you.

Everything Plengkwan eats in a day https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/plengkwan-eats-in-a-day/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 02:54:00 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1868692

Being both a model and an actress means taking special care of yourself. Therefore, discipline is the key to success, even on cheat days, says Plengkwan.

After a fun chit-chat with Nattaya ‘Plengkwan‘ Thongsaen, the model and actress told us about her life in the entertainment industry and the importance of discipline. With aspirations to excel in her two careers, she must remain healthy and fit, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. “I plan to exercise more this year because my workout motivation declined. After COVID-19 happened, I couldn’t go to the gym at all. I was only exercising in my room. During that time, I would only eat and sleep, which was bad. So this year, I am focusing on sculpting my body to the best it can be.” As Plengkwan is the face of LSA’s March Digital Cover, she is here to share what she eats daily, even with her busy schedule. Ever wondered what a talented boss lady eats? Read on to find out.

Decreasing carbs while increasing vegetables

“Nowadays, I have been eating really well compared to before. I don’t consume any fried foods, and I eat fewer carbs. When I eat rice, I choose to eat less of it. I have also increased my vegetable intake.” Surprisingly, Plengkwan has also told us that she doesn’t eat clean all the time. All she did was change her eating habits by consuming beneficial foods that gave her energy. “I’ve been eating nuts. If it makes me gain weight, that’s fine; at least it’s healthy.”

Besides changing her way of eating, she has also changed her thinking. “Before, I never really cared because I thought I’d avoid wearing shorts if I gained weight on my legs. However, I had to change that mindset to be confident to show my legs. I want beautiful legs, so if I eat better, I’ll find the passion for getting in shape.”

Eating three balanced meals

Shaping the body to your desires isn’t only about eating less. It’s about eating three balanced meals and choosing the right kinds of foods. As Plengkwan told us, she would have a heavy breakfast for more energy. However, she has shifted to consuming whey protein to build muscle. “I’ve been drinking only whey protein in the morning. It energises and makes me feel full longer, especially when I exercise or work in the morning.”

After asking what her favourite meal was, she said it was yellow curry with bamboo shoots, embracing the southern girl inside her. She also told us she is a great cook, especially when it comes to yellow curry. She likes to show off her skills to her friends and said the secret is the curry paste her grandparents send directly from the south.

Having a cheat day doesn’t mean overindulgence

To love yourself means discipline, but that doesn’t equate to not rewarding your body with what it deserves, especially on cheat days. For the model and actress, her heart goes to shabu. “During cheat days, I go straight to shabu. I don’t enjoy barbecue as much because it takes too long to cook [laughs]. But for real, even though it’s a cheat day, I don’t overindulge. There needs to be balance.” Other than shabu, she loves fast food because who doesn’t love burgers and pizza? “I love fast food, but I need to be disciplined with my eating habits right now. I want a strong and sculpted body, so I must stop consuming unhealthy foods.”

Another trick she told us is that she stopped eating crispy snacks. To satiate her cravings, Plengkwan has freeze-dried strawberries instead. If it’s nighttime, she opts for fresh fruits. “Our bodies are smart. If we change our eating habits within a few days, our bodies will remember and adapt.”

Regular exercise

With disciplined eating habits, Plengkwan also knows she should eat nutritious meals 80% of the time. “I think I have done these techniques so often it has become a habit, so it’s not hard. I used to love making excuses for myself. I would say clean food is expensive, hard to find, and not delicious. But in reality, you can do it. Everything that I said was a mere excuse.”

Besides eating, the other 20% goes to exercise to see results. “I focus on weight training and indoor spin classes. I exercise with my girl gang, and when it comes to spin classes, it is so fun with them! Other than that, I do some cardio, such as running. All my exercises are indoors because Thailand is so hot.”

The similarities between Ananda Everingham and Mario Maurer, through life and career https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/ananda-versus-mario-life-acting/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 03:39:32 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1865563

Half Australian and half Laotian, Ananda Everingham, and Thai-Chinese-German, Mario Maurer, have officially joined hands in the trilogy ‘Khun Pan 3.’ Released this March, Lifestyle Asia brings these two incredible actors together on our February digital cover. Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to meet these two at the Centara Grand Hotel, located in Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok, to shoot this month’s fashion set. We also got an exclusive interview with Ananda and Mario, and spoke to them about the film and their personal lives. Read below to find their similarities and differences.

Cover LSA en

Famous Films: ‘Anda and Fahsai’ and ‘Love of Siam’

These two have both created a name for themselves through acting in movies. Ananda is famous for the film ‘Anda and Fahsai,’ whereas Mario gained fame through ‘Love of Siam.’ Although both movies have different storylines, they are both based on the lives of a teenager. Ananda’s character conveys the life of an island boy who meets a girl of the same age, and they must prove their love and innocence. As for Mario, he plays a high school boy in the city who is confused about his own sexuality and his relationship with his male friends. Both these films helped pave the way for these two actors, making them well-known in the Thai media industry.

Students of M.L.Noi: ‘Eternity’ and ‘Jan Dara’

Although these two actors have risen to the top, we must go back in time to find out how they got here. Ananda and Mario’s similarities are that they both had a great teacher who helped them perform their roles, as they are disciples of M.L.Noi, also known as Pundhevanop Dhewakul, a film director who teaches acting to many. M.L. Noi has a style is like no other because he helps his students reduce their ego of being a star and increase their acting skills instead. By using the basis of raw human nature and passion, he can help create characters that feel real.

Hobbies: Behind-the-scenes photography and vintage item collector

Ananda has repeatedly emphasised that he loves photography and working behind the scenes. That’s why recently, we have seen him take a break from acting as he diverts his attention to being a producer instead. His interest may have stemmed from his father, a recognised professional photographer, thus making him involved in these matters from the beginning. As for Mario, he loves to collect vintage items since he was a kid. Growing up, he started collecting classic cars and old antique furniture. Those who follow him on the “Mario World Channel,” in the “Oh lunla” series, would have seen several episodes where he takes his fans to visit antique shops and goes for a car ride in his classic vehicles around the city.

‘Pee Mak Phra Khanong’: Pee Mak versus Pee Mak

Mario has another nickname, the billionaire protagonist from his work in ‘Pee Mak… Phra Khanong.’ Bringing laughter to countless Thais in 2013, this film became the highest-grossing Thai movie in the country. Moving over to Ananda, he has also received the Pee Mak comedian role. This adaptation has the same gist but is called ‘Thid Noi,’ where Ananda collaborated with the Thai comedian Pongsak Pongsuwan and helped direct the film himself. There is no need to compare these two Pee Maks as both have unique charm, humour, and the most striking looks of Pee Mak.

‘Khun Pan 3’

Arriving at their latest work, where they collaborated for the first time, Ananda plays the role of Khun Pan, a policeman responsible for convicting people of their crimes through death. On the other hand, Mario plays Sua Mahesuan, the hundred-faced thief who casts powerful spells and is about to be thrown out of society. This infamous movie has been running for 10 years, and this last chapter marks the trilogy’s end, with the final battle using magic and incantations. How will this story end, and where? We’ll just have to wait and see in theatres on March 2, 2023.

5 things you should know before watching ‘Khun Pan 3’ https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/things-before-watching-khun-pan-3/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 03:39:22 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1865414

While we’re all counting down for the final chapter of the movie many Thais have been waiting for, here are 5 things you should know before watching ‘Khun Phan 3’ that will make the film more enjoyable and full of depth.

As March approaches, the date for the conclusion of the movie ‘Khun Phan’ starring Ananda Everingham, is also almost released in theatres. Working alongside Ananda is Mario Maurer, who is typically known for playing the hero in many films and series. However, for the first time in his acting career, Mario has switched roles, becoming the villain in this film. Directed by Khom-Kongkiat Khomsiri, this final part depicts Khun Phan, now retired with his own family. Yet, he was called back to hunt the Suas (southern bandits) as havoc was being created in the city. Although the main storyline hasn’t changed much, there was a development in their society, including the evolution of characters and various beliefs. That said, here are 5 things you should know before watching ‘Khun Phan 3.’

‘Khun Pan 3’ is the final chapter of the trilogy

‘Khun Pan 3’ titles this chapter “Judgement Day” because Khun Pan isn’t only judging the Suas (southern bandits), but he’s also fighting with his own inner conflict as he begins to assess his actions— not knowing if it’s right or wrong. Therefore, this third part summarises all the characters, behaviours, and beliefs. The leading actor, Ananda, said that this character is a part of his life as he has lived with it for over 10 years. He further adds that he wants to see adaptations of this character in a different light, for instance, Khun Pan in his adolescence. We’re not sure if this will happen, but it could be possible for this idea to take shape in the future.

Mario plays the antagonist for the first time

Although we cannot tell you how vicious Mario will be in this film, we know that he is the polar opposite of Khun Pan. In his role as Sua Mahesuan, there is a duality where he can appear harmless, yet another part of him makes him the villain of society. In our interview with Mario, the actor said his character is grey. The reason for that is Sua Mahesuan robs the rich to help reduce the disparities in society, in which makes Khun Pan think his actions are wrong.

However, the introduction of Sua Mahesuan has challenged Khun Pan’s beliefs. Khun Pan starts to question his moral code on right and wrong, as in the real world, not everyone can be genuinely good or evil. We all make mistakes. We are not as pure as when we first came to this planet as our society and surroundings shapes our behaviour and mindset. Also, being exposed to certain situations and context may alter our beliefs and values.

Khun Pan is scared of dying

Besides his inner conflict with himself, regarding his beliefs, the heart of this chapter also lies in Khun Pan’s character development. As stated by Ananda, this trilogy presents the protagonist as humane; who loves and fears death. With his situation changing since he has a pregnant wife and is expecting a baby, he lives for the people he loves. Compared to the previous chapters, this new condition gives Khun Pan more dimension as he is susceptible to emotions, whereas before, he was only about his duties to improve society. This ending invites the audience to view Khun Pan in a different perspective by feeling empathy for him. Showing how he too is human and carries the burden of being the head of the family.

Look out for Tono

Another character who adds more depth and excitement in the movie is the Black Sua, played by Tono-Phakin Khamwilaisak, who is evil to the core and hates the police. The director complimented Tono on his work ethic because he was surprised at how Tono researched his character and provided extra information that helped develop the Black Sua.

“He called me and said, Khom, I need to have black teeth. I found some information online that said Black Sua smokes so much opium to the point his teeth became black. He also has two gold teeth. I love when actors do their homework, as we can work together to create a more well-rounded character. It’s much more fun to work like this because we can bring the character to life even more.”c

This production is full-on like never before

In every ‘Khun Pan’ movie, the production upgrades continuously, so the audience can notice the changes in each film. For example, the first part, set before the World War, only used horses for transportation. In the second chapter, after World War II, motorcycles, guns, and politics came into play due to modernisation. Whereas, the last instalment, set in the Cold War, known as the spy war, helped set the movie’s mood and tone. The costumes during this time would depend on the character’s ranking; the higher one’s ranking, the better their attire. Also, with inspiration from the spy war, the effects used were more full-scaled to realistically depict the evil Suas and to present how far the world has come.

Get ready for the third part of the infamous Thai film ‘Khun Phan,’ starring Ananda Everingham. Full of action and special effects, the protagonist of this film tells us about his life, acting, and the making of ‘Khun Phan 3.’

Releasing in theatres this year on March 2, Ananda Everingham has been the face of ‘Khun Phan’ for the past seven years. Directed by Khom-Kongkiat Khomsiri, the final chapter of this movie is where Khun Phan retires from his usual missions since he and his wife are expecting a child. However, being set in the 1950s, there was the Cold War, and he soon has to go back to catch Sua Mahesuan, played by Mario Maurer. Without spoiling the rest of the storyline, we had the honour to interview Ananda Everingham as he gives us the inside scoop on his personal life and acting career.

In the last years of filming Khun Pan I, II, & III, how did you make being Khun Pan consistent, as there were often long breaks in filming?

After finishing each production, I am gone. However, when I am filming, I remember every detail, which helps contribute to the making of Khun Pan, especially when I’ve been practising being in and out of character for so long. To make his character consistent throughout the years, I first start with the body, such as how to walk. The performing process is quite broad regarding technique, but I always start with what is easiest for me. I would first imagine how Khun Pan would walk and his body language. I think to myself, are his movements intense or soft? Once we get the physical aspect, it becomes muscle memory. It helps me automatically remember this role. That’s why I choose to focus on the body first because it doesn’t deal with thinking. It helps me connect everything together.

Have you immersed yourself so much in the role that when you go outside, you act like your character?

Sometimes, but not really, because that’s not who I am. I slowly review the character’s details once I find out how Khun Pan physically behaves. Some may think I act like him when I’m not shooting, but I’m just practising the character in my head. It becomes my second nature, which helps me focus on my motive for the next scene. For example, sometimes, when I wake up and brush my teeth, I practice the script out loud or in my head. When I walk alone, I practice being Khun Pan, and some may think I am him, but I’m just practising. It’s not method acting, though.

Every actor and actress is different in how they choose to memorise their lines and how to embody their role, but for me, I don’t benefit from method acting. I’m not saying it’s wrong because trying to be your character by thinking and behaving the way they do is a method. However, it doesn’t align with me. I need just the environment and the physical; then, I can find my truth to perform and move forward. The best way to act is by researching and understanding in full detail and using all of these factors to bring the character to life. The human spirit is fast-paced, but if I can control that and know how my character acts in full detail, I can step into character quickly.

Could you explain your character development in this trilogy?

In this trilogy, my character’s mindset changes a bit as now he is scared to die because he has a family. To adapt to how I previously played him, I keep aware that it’s just the condition of the situation. By understanding my role and knowing it’s just a motive, I can understand what I’m doing and how to perform. In the movie, my wife is pregnant; I ask myself, what is the most important? This trilogy isn’t just about the vision; it’s about how Khun Pan can survive for his family’s future. So, to perform this version of Khun Pan, what I do is very simple; I think of my wife’s and kid’s faces.

What do you think are Khun Pan’s beliefs?

I never researched what Khun Pan believes in, but I use his legend as inspiration for my character. For Khun Pan, he is idealistic; he wants everyone to have equality, liberty, and good morals. Yet, he is smart enough to know that the world isn’t like this, which is a conflict for him. He fights with others and himself because his beliefs do not align with the real world. For instance, when he fights with the thieves, it’s not a one-sided conversation where Khun Pan says, “I’m right; you’re wrong.” Although in some parts he does say that, the actual conflict is within him—is what he’s doing even right? Is the law beneficial to everyone? It’s also the movie’s theme: right and wrong.

If Khun Pan were a colour, what colour would he be?

He would probably be grey, but it’s not really about colour. I associate him with more aggression as he is a violent person. He can be brutal and feral, but he controls that side since he is on the side of the law. Being idealistic is just one part of him; he is also instinctive with a temper and a violent side.

If Khun Pan were to gain redemption, who do you think deserves it most?

No comment. I will end up revealing the movie, since another theme in this film is forgiveness.

Who would best fit Khun Pan if someone else were to play your role?

It would be fascinating to have a pause on the movie and completely change the story’s narrative with a different director telling the character from a new perspective. Maybe starting from when he was a teenager, something along that line. I want it to look completely different to what I’ve performed. To be honest, the world of Khun Pan, with magic spells, ghosts, and monsters, finishes here, but I want to expand it to, for example, ‘Suicide Squad.’ We’re wondering if we should rewrite it like that movie with thieves gathering together and Khun Pan coming back like Nick Fury, who is old but is in a special group.

If someone were to take my role, it would be interesting to see, because in this world, so many things are happening and changing. In the Thai movie industry, there are few movies like this, whereas, in the west, there’s Marvel and such. Why can’t Asian countries have this type of movie too? In our home, we like to criticise ourselves, for instance, “oh, Thailand can’t make these types of movies; we have to watch the West.” Why do we have to be others? Being Thai is good enough; we just have to progress constantly.

Have you ever watched your own work? If so, have you ever thought that you should do something differently?

Not really. I’ve played in over 40 films and only watched 4-5 of them. I understand the benefit of watching your own movies to analyse and review what you’ve done. It’s good to do it and I should, but I don’t. Once I give life to that character and the cameras are rolling, it’s over. I appreciate that moment and give it everything. Once it’s over, it’s just hard to go back. I don’t know why, but I move on. Living in that moment isn’t good for my mental health since I am a thinker. Doing this also helps me play other characters better since I can separate them. So, once I hear “cut!” it’s cut. If I have to redo a take, I start from the beginning.

What other characters would you like to play in the future?

Acting is a reflection of life. My life isn’t over yet; there are so many characters I could play. I’ve played many characters utterly different from each other in the past years, which I found fun. When I let go of being categorised as the protagonist or the lead of Thai movies, it’s more exciting to play new roles. I have the chance to reimagine and rethink how this particular character would act and be. By not calculating my success on how often I get the lead, I am happier, especially when I know I have the talent to perform a variety of roles.

Not many know this, but I stopped acting for almost three years because I was bored. I lost my passion because I was repeating the same roles, so I took a break. I was working office jobs and helping with production. At that time, I had a mid-life crisis. I didn’t know what else to play. However, by acting as a new character, I gained that passion back because I found something I never thought I could do.

All in all, if we understand that it’s a reflection of life, there is no end until we die. If we think that’s all we have, then there will be an ending, and it’ll be hard to move forward and progress. Staying curious is more beneficial, and we’ll feel fulfilled. I am a performer, and if I do well, the outcome of my acting is the art. I am not the art; I’m just a technician in the art field. Behind production, there are so many people working together to create the art we see today.

What would you do in the future once you’ve fulfilled your acting career?

That’s tricky as I find it hard to end here. I perceive actors as actors, and everything else in life is what we do. For example, I’m interested in the environment. I always think to myself where I would like to live. When I wake up, where would I want to surround myself? These thoughts help add value to my life, which helps me be the happiest. I also take an interest in hospitality, for instance, restaurants and hotels. I need to have another life that separates me from my acting. Although my acting career defines who I am and my profession, I can do many other things. I won’t use the term marriage, but that’s another phase too, but it’s another goal with another person. Performing is my individual goal.

Mario Maurer on his role as the villain in ‘Khun Pan 3’ https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/mario-maurer-as-the-villain/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 03:39:11 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1865379 Mario feature solo

Mario Maurer gives us an inside scoop on his new role in the film ‘Khun Pan 3,’ where he plays a villain for the first time.

Set in the 1950s, when the country was still affected by war, famine was on the rise. To survive, the southern bandits, known as Suas, would collaborate to rob wealthy families and give back to the community. However, they are being hunted on the side of the law, but what is truly right and wrong? That being said, we had the chance to interview an actor who is known as the protagonist in many movies and series. Today, he is here to tell us what it was like to play one of the bandits, the main antagonist in ‘Khun Pan 3.’ Read on for what Mario Maurer has to say about the movie, the challenges he faced, and the experiences he gained along the way.

The role you are playing in this film is quite new to you. Did you face any challenges as an actor?

There were many challenges, but it was exciting because I’ve never played the villain before. My character is one of the Sua (tiger). It’s an old term people used to call bad guys, thieves, and playboys. Despite being a bandit as the Suas robbed people, they did not keep the goods for themselves because they have a strict ideology and needed to take care of their community. As I played Sua Mahesuan, I had to change many outfits and go in disguise in some scenes because I was an outlaw. Other challenges I faced were the action scenes. I had to learn how to ride a horse and the special effects for this production were intense. I had no stunt double too.

You said there was a lot of preparation for this movie and there are some romantic and action scenes.

Yes, there is a bit of romance because, being a Sua, we’re known to be playboys. We behave a bit flirty and sexual.

How was working with Ananda Everingham?

I’ve been a fan of this movie since the first and second sequels. I never thought I would have the chance to work with Ananda, who is my idol. I have always thought if it is not Ananda, who would be Khun Pan? However, once I was a part of this movie, I realised it’s intense because even after we’re done shooting, it’s never truly over. We would be filming for many days until morning. With the location as well, it can be difficult to travel back.

What did you learn from Ananda whilst filming?

I’ve always watched his work, especially ‘Khun Pan.’ It is a unique movie that Ananda is in. I like the storyline and, in general, action movies, because there are only a few of these types of films in Thailand.

After being involved in this production, I like Ananda even more because he is literally Khun Pan. There is no need for him to act like his character anymore because he is him. Although I’ve known him for a while and seen him around, I still get nervous on set, so I sometimes mess up my lines. Ananda also helps me get immersed into my role more easily, either with the costumes or the environment. I also really need to thank the director, Khom, for that because it doesn’t matter how hot it was as this set was necessary for the movie and with the help of the team and directors, once you get in the car to go on set, you already feel like you’re in that era. Even just wearing the costumes makes it feel like you’re in a different world, which is exciting.

Do you believe in superstitions?

It is half-half for me. I believe there is something out there because it’s all about beliefs, especially when it’s been ingrained in many people’s cultures for centuries. These superstitions are storytelling passed on from generation to generation. So, you can’t deny it because “kata,” magic spells and witchcraft, do happen in real life. Our kata team members even say spells and are not chanting random lines. When you read the script, they are actually real incantations. It might not happen, but the spells are real. As I play Sua Mahesuan, I own a gold Mahesuan amulet, and when I do the chants, I can get super invested to the point that my teeth can break. So sometimes, I have to lower the intensity of my chanting.

What is the best part of playing in Khun Pan?

The team and the storyline. Just listening to and watching videos on YouTube about Khun Pan just takes me somewhere and makes me excited, like, “wow, he uses this spell to catch robbers?” Yet, you also have to remember that the robbers have their own spells, too, so it’s like they’re fighting with each other through magic. It’s not one-sided, where only one person knows a magical chant — everybody has their own spells and teachers. This is why this story is interesting; it’s like Khun Pan is the superhero of Thailand who is on the side of the law, whilst I play an outlaw, the bad guy.

After you finished shooting, did you ever feel like a particular scene could be performed a different way?

There are so many scenes, but I always put my all in every time I shoot, so no. Of course, there are some scenes I’ve started where I wasn’t in character yet, but Khom, our director, is always there to look for these things.

Have you ever watched your own work and wished you could go back and redo a scene?

No, because I gave my all at that moment. I gave 100%. I never think like that because I would live in pity if I did.

What characters would you like to play in the future?

I am open to everything because if I am a good actor, I can play any role, especially if it’s different from previous roles. Also, I always want to do something different because when it’s challenging, I am able to learn more and evolve as an actor. In which this role was the most difficult because I’ve never played a thief in my entire acting career. It was so thrilling and nerve-wracking when the director called me. I never thought I would get to play this type of role, especially for ‘Khun Pan 3.’ Also, you can never guess what could happen during filming, so I sometimes had to improvise.

Why should people watch this movie?

‘Khun Pan 3’ is the final part of this infamous movie. It is one of the films I have done that I felt thrilled to perform in. I put in so much effort to play this role, and I’m grateful to have been a part of this production. I suggest people watch the first and second sequels first, so they can enjoy the trilogy without any confusion. There are also huge actors and actresses like Ananda Everingham, Fah Sarika, Tono Phakin, Philip Thinroj, and so on starring in this film. The team has also put in all their effort during production. I promise that this movie is super entertaining, and viewers will like it, especially Khun Pan fans. However, if you have never watched ‘Khun Pan,’ let’s have fun together on 2 March this year in theatres.

Five reasons why we love SEIKO https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/five-reasons-why-we-love-seiko/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 10:00:35 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1861173

SEIKO represents how you can impeccably blend time with art.

Time flies so fast as though lightning moves. Everything has changed over time. Hundreds of watch brands emerged in the market and then disappeared in no time. No matter how quickly the clock world has turned, one player always holds firmly and remains unscathed in this time stream, a renowned Japanese brand SEIKO.

Kintaro Hattori, the founder of this brand, was determined to develop a watch with precise time indications. He believed that the brand’s motto Keep Going Forward would make SEIKO a legend and to always be one step ahead of its competitors. This story will show you why SEIKO still stands firm and becomes a brand that is devotedly loved by everyone until today.

The Japanese brand

What is often asked when customers buy a product is where does it come from? When the answer is “Japan”, of course almost 100% of them rest assured of that product without any hesitation. SEIKO was founded in Japan where it is enriched by cultural values, meticulousness, integrity, and punctuality. The brand has traveled a long journey for over 142 years now (since 1881) mostly due to its loyalty and determination for the watches’ inventions. Hundreds of materials, parts, and tools are always created by them in order to bring out the best quality of the watches.

The reliable expertise

SEIKO does not refer to themselves as a watch factory but rather a Watch Studio. They are eminent in elegant designs and every careful step of the creations. Customers are always ensured by their particular expertise of only watch experts. The meticulous assembly with every detail from the beginning to the last step. The watches are the craft work blended with advanced tools, aesthetics and light weights, reflections, and the smooth touches of materials.

Precision and punctuality

Although there was the invention of watches before, the time indication was not that accurate. SEIKO however was devoted to eventually inventing a watch with the precise second-digit indication; it was called Quartz. SEIKO later on was the leader of the watch industry and most acknowledged by the Western world. The brand never ceases to research, develop, and improve their watches to be precise and only to keep moving forward.

The after-sales service

It is well known that the service-mind is the top priority in Japan’s society. SEIKO not only presents excellent service in stores but also provides the top impeccable after-sales service. The suitable assistance to your problems will be provided by many of their experts. The expert departments are well managed such as the Diagnostic Room to oversee the watch systems, or the Clock Repair Room to assist you with tools and accessories repair, and so on.

Designs that meets the needs

The last reason why SEIKO has been one of the world-class watches for hundreds of years is the designs that meet the needs. This legendary Japanese brand offers many watch designs to serve everyone ’s purposes in many circumstances. It does not cease to fascinate us with a variety of models to reach the ultimate top: the classics with the leather strap and the circular dial or the stainless band with stopwatch function. Furthermore, they have tough and cool designs for the underwater pressure and diving purposes, hybrid technology with the digital watches, or the one beyond your imagination with voice recording and watching TV functions. SEIKO is relentless in discovering new ideas to live up to their motto Keep Going Forward.

‘JJ’ Krissanapoom—from popstar to thriving CEO https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/jj-krissanapoom-from-popstar-to-thriving-ceo/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 10:00:29 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1861162

Who would have expected that a young half Chinese boy originally from Chiang Mai would succeed as the CEO of his own company today? He literally kept on denying and said that he never believed it either.

‘JJ’ Krissanapoom Pibulsonggram, a cover star of January 2023, has recently stayed away from the spotlight. Other than pouring his soul and heart into tons of work like music, movies, and many TV series, he became the CEO of his own agency, QOW Entertainment. It seems he is striving for new management skills in the world of entertainment—a bigger role to take and that influences him to be more mature as well.

‘JJ’ Krissanapoom—from a popstar to thriving CEO

“My company is actually an agency that manages artists rather than a mere entertainment company. We are not limited to only singers and actors but models who could succeed as artists too in the future” JJ told us about the role of QOW Entertainment as an agency. “Now I kind of began to seek who we want to join us—be a drawing artist or even a DJ.”

‘Thanaerng’ Kanyawee Songmuang and him are both the company’s artists and CEOs, accompanied by a key consultant ‘Wutt-Anuwat’, the big boss of 4NOLOGUE. QOW was established together by them from the beginning. Each will be responsible for their own work, but they will get together tp discuss when it comes to seeking the best solutions for the company.

Decision-making is a challenge

“We will argue as long as we find the best solutions for the company.” JJ shared how being the co-CEO with Thanaerng works, “We’ll sit and make a list of what is better. We don’t argue, but we discuss which way is the best—no personal matters.: Even though there are some discrepancies, which is normal in a working environment, they can separate the working process from their personal matters without any issues.

Many people might not be familiar with the image of this young man managing the company. It’s no surprise for someone who is always on screen but now has an extra role as an executive off camera too, which can be quite challenging to adjust. “When it comes to something interesting, I’m not sure yet, but what’s really tough is decision-making and management, because we’ve started only for a year. We’re not experts in many fields, and we lack caution. These can slow down the process of work.” Nevertheless, JJ is grateful to have the opportunity to study about other aspects of his life he had never known before.

Responsibility brings maturity

As you thrive in your career, what naturally follow are more responsibilities, along with maturity that can change you. This change is no different from the case of this young actor and artist. He now has a taste of maturity more than ever and he will continue to grow even further. “To be honest, I always wonder whether I’ll survive because before that I had no idea if I’d start a company or something tangible. At first, I thought it was already great in Nadao. Then the company closed down and I needed to decide what I’d do with life. So I had this conversation with Nearng and we’d better start our own company and then have Wutt as a partner.”

All clothes from LOEWE, watch from SEIKO

“I was more mature than two years ago back in the days in Nadao and I’m constantly growing. With more responsibilities, I become more active for work and changes, or always improving myself. The more I learn about my weak spots, the more I listen to others. I think it’s a very good trend.” JJ concluded that he never thought that he would reach this point in life. He, however, also likes to reflect on life. What has he gone through to come this far? What was he like before? He eventually came to the realisation that a lot of factors shaped him who he is today. “I admit that I was lucky to be given a lot of opportunities in this career. I maintain my strength and try to improve myself. I am happy to be surrounded with good fans and good people all along. I didn’t expect that I would come this far as well.”

“The faster you find your happiness, the faster you’ll become successful.” Life is more enjoyable when you look at it in simpler terms. Let’s talk about life with ‘JJ’ Krissanapoom Pibulsonggram .

‘JJ’ Krissanapoom Pibulsonggram recently defined himself as an actor, a singer, and a new dad of two cats to us one afternoon when the January 2023 digital cover shooting took place. JJ, the new star cover of LSA, is more than pleased to share what he has been up to after staying off grid for the past year. He has been dedicated to his new role as the CEO and father to two kittens, to which he admitted that he turned into a clingy dad.

JJ started off as a fresh, young actor before joining a boy band of nine members. He admitted to being at ease and feeling fortunate of how the whole group made decisions together when it comes to work. However, when he chose a different path as a solo singer, decision-making becomes a difficult transition and sometimes a distracting process. He shared, “ But it’s better now, and I will keep learning.” JJ today is constantly becoming more mature.

Give us some updates on your life right now

“I’m good. I just finished shooting my new TV series at the end of last year and now I’m taking the time to rest for a bit. I’m also preparing some new stuff. I didn’t have anything much last year except a single with 4EVE called My Duty because I needed to get a lot of things done in my life. Apart from being a good executive, I was shooting the new series, so I didn’t get to prepare anything new last year. I’m also working on my new song at the moment. My new movie will be out around March. Plus, I have had two kittens called ‘Bookbik’ and ‘Shoyu’ for more than two years now. I love them so much.”

You’re an actor, a singer, and a model—which is most likely to reflect your individuality?

“Mostly as an actor and artist. I used to not feel like myself when it comes to acting, but lately I find it more special and intriguing when I play the roles but still able to put my own spin on it. My individuality is also expressed this way. I feel like 100% as a singer. I can do what I want, produce the music I like, and write stories I want to share. To embed my identity in each performance is what matters too.”

Why is the stage name “Jaylerr”, and how is it different from “JJ”?

“Because I couldn’t come up with anything and it’s also my Instagram name. After I went by this name, everyone would call me Jaylerr, so I feel like it is part of what shaped me today. More people recognized me from this very name. It differentiates my real life from everyone’s perception and it’s quite different. They also understand which role that I’m in each time.”

As a boy band member, a solo artist, and also collaborations with others—how do you differentiate everything?

“It’s much different. I debuted as a boy band member in a group called 9×9 (Nine by Nine). I was not experienced then, though it was a good experience. There were also another eight friends to help you decide almost everything and come up with ideas for work. There were some setbacks though now that I have to make decisions on my own. Sometimes it’s not so firm. I’m not sure if what I’m going for is a good idea but now it’s getting better. I’ll keep learning.”

Tell us more about your latest Korean TV Show, Tripmate: Who Are You?

“Tripmate: Who Are You?” is a South Korean TV show aired on KBS channel. The concept is that the Korean artist hosts will bring an international artist similar to them to a trip, to do activities or whatever they want to. I’m one of the representatives from Thailand to shoot there. It was so much fun and I got to experience how a South Korean reality show works. I could see that their teams and artists were absolutely professional. Also, the Korean artists helped me break the ice so as not to feel nervous or anything, so I think working with them was brilliant.”

All clothes from COS, watch from SEIKO

What did you learn from the South Korean production?

“I picked up a lot of things from them, mainly creativity. The reality team was responsible for games, activities, and settings. When I joined them, a few simple things I didn’t even realize turned out so well when working because they already figured everything out. They made it fun, easy, and everyone understood their roles well. I think we can adapt this to Thai entertainment. There were some setbacks too like the language barriers. However, when we got to spend time together there, even though we didn’t understand the language we speak, but body language could help. We destroyed those barriers without realising it and had no worries but enjoyed working.”

What defines success from your point of view in this modern world?

“If it was four, five years ago, I would say that being successful requires five things: money, to eat what we want, to travel where we want, be healthy, and the ability to take care of our loved ones. But being successful now is another story; the faster you find your happiness, the faster you’ll succeed. People nowadays like to compare themselves with others; I want to be like them, I want to do this. However, it’s miserable to constantly pursue those kinds of things and even if we already got what we want, we’re still not pleasant.”

How often do you picture yourself in the future and what would you be doing?

“I always imagine what it’s like in my future, right now, I would picture myself permanently moving back home to Chiang Mai. If I have some work I’d just fly to Bangkok then. I also have something to say to my future self too that ‘Work hard but don’t pressure yourself too much. Just try to find happiness in your everyday life.’ Just something like this.”

Would you like to share what you have been working on?

“My new movie called Sang Krasue 2 will be out in March 2023 if everything goes as planned. I also have a Netflix series that will be released at the end of the year and I’m working on my music now, please stay tuned.”

Everyone always has their own jams, so here are JJ’s four favorite songs. He couldn’t help but give us a big smile while he shared them, and they’re worth adding to your playlist.

Debuting as a member of 9×9 (Nine by Nine), Nadao’s boy band of nine young, attractive teenagers, he was given an opportunity to sing, dance and exude charisma all over the media. ‘JJ’ Kritsanapoom Phibunsongkhram was quite a sensation, implying that he must have a long shot at this career path. Contributing to starring in an emotional and intense series like Lued Khon Khon Jang (In Family We Trust), which gave him the recognition and star quality he is known for today.

Even though he has done acting from time to time, our cover star this month always navigates back to his musical side. His latest collaboration with the girl group 4EVE , My Duty is a bright pop song that mesmerises the fans till today. This song is to celebrate his comeback again after staying off grid for a while from the entertainment world. It is considered one of many characteristics that we can expect from him—the manifestation of his potential acquired through his journey.

He can rap as if spitting fire in the song VERY VERY SORRY. He shows his pure lovely vocals through a moderate tempo song Rabiang. The collaboration of Ice-Paris with Dee Dee also completely shined with his intriguing and mischievous charisma. Is there anything he can’t do?

In addition to the updates on work this time, JJ also shared four songs for fans that he said “I listen to a lot of songs, but these four are my go-to jams for the moment.”

4 top hits that ‘JJ’ Kritsanapoom’ plays on repeat

Kendrick Lamar – Alright

The famous rapper from Compton like Kendrick Lamar, apart from producing cool music that hypnotises the world, his music is a big influence for political movements as well. The battle of African Americans to eradicate racism finally made the famous song Alright the national anthem of their new generation by default. JJ, of course, loves this song because of all the perfect elements. He said “I really like this song because the musical elements are very impressive. It narrates life and society, so this song helps me learn more about his [Kendrick Lamar’s] stories and understand more of what I didn’t before.”

Jaylerr – Nimman

“Can I choose my own song?” JJ smiles, “I especially like this song because it’s about my childhood since growing up until where I began to make music. It is a song that I was very involved in both writing lyrics and producing beats. I was engaged a lot because it wholly reflects myself.” Nimman is the first song JJ released as a solo artist after the 9×9 project with his bandmates. This song is a story of his own life through a long journey and countless events. With the fast rap verses and strong beats, it illustrates how unique and more mature he is.

Rich Brian – Drive Safe

This northern boy’s third song is Drive Safe, a single from the second studio album, The Sailor, from Indonesian artist Rich Brian. In its meaning, the song boasts how Asian teens can be as cool as the Western in terms of their music potential. This new rapper is good at narrating simple stories and rhyming lyrics—very effective for a song about boasting about your musical style. JJ said that he is quite fond of him, “I like this song because it is not complicated, but the meaning is deep. It’s like we call someone to tell them ‘drive safe’. They’re just simple words but meaningful in nature. ”

NIKI – Every Summertime

“I can’t explain why I like it but if anyone listens to it, they’ll get me. It’s a bright-sounding song. It’s like driving down the road and feeling the sun shining through the window.” The last song that JJ talked about is Every Summertime, a song of NIKI from the same agency as Rich Brian (88rising). She has a distinctive voice that goes along well with this great-sounding vintage instrumental which compliments her clear voice, as if transporting you into a dream. This song was also selected as the original soundtrack of Marvel movie Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings.

A hot topic today is this young artist who does not only stand out in vocals but also possesses such a unique fashion taste—it’s ‘JJ’ Kritsanapoom Phibunsongkhram, our January cover star.

He’s already very familiar with the world of fashion having joined various fashion shows,  photoshoots, and events. Of course, LSA Style Anatomy won’t miss this chance to get some iconic trends from the star. We’re welcoming the Year of the Rabbit by allowing his fans to familiarise themselves with this young sensation’s fashion identity.

LSA Style Anatomy: the fashionable styles of ‘JJ’ Kritsanapoom

1

Swagger with an oversized jacket

It is well known that JJ is from a new generation of rapper artists. He utilises pop music mixing with his cool vibes and transforms it into his fashion identity. For this look, he chose a black oversized puffer jacket layered over the same color hoodie inside, trousers, and completed with boots. He could not be bothered by winter breezes in Japan anymore with this look.

2

How to rock a concert outfit

When gleaming on stage, comfort is the first priority for selection of clothes. This concert, JJ opted for a romper suit in the shade of cream with stripes. He then topped it up with a sleeveless t-shirt inside with outstanding golden sequins. The advantage of this look is that the top half can be removed and tied on the waist Like JJ did and that spices things up on stage.

3

Layer is a key

On casual days, this Chiang Mai born artist would go for a plain white T-shirt. He then did some fashion tricks by adding layers on top. He, this time, chose a caramel nylon sleeveless vest. He just transformed into a fashionista by default. To top it off, a trekking hat makes the look feel effortless but well selected.

4

The best couple look

Although he breathes swag, JJ has a sweet side with his girlfriend ‘Thanaerng’ Kanyawee as well. They showed how in love they were by matching their outfits on their trip to the beach. Both of them chose black Hawaiian shirts but added each of their own gimmicks to look even more adorable. JJ paired the shirt with shorts while his girlfriend tied it up on her waist changing it to a tank top and went with long pants.

5

A cutie millennial with overalls

Another mischievous look that is not only cuteness overload, but also blends well with swag, JJ matched the casual jeans overalls with a basic white T-shirt once again. He anyway made it more appealing with a pair of black sunglasses. His choice of tying a scarf on his head brings a nostalgic vibes of a playful teenager back to the 2000s as well.

6

Always go with a hat

If anyone is a fan of JJ’s Instagram, you might notice that his fashion identity will not be completed without hats as his go-to accesory—whether it is a cap, a trekking hat, a beanie or even in this look, a bucket hat. JJ decided to make it contrast by pairing a sweet pastel blue daisy bucket hat with a cut leather jacket patched with wool.

The 5 songs that make you fall in love with Violette Wautier https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/songs-violette-wautier/ Wed, 07 Dec 2022 04:00:27 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1855900

From Leaving on a Jet Plane on The Voice Thailand, to her English single called Drive, or an acoustic version of Tung Tae Mee Ter, Chan Mee Kwam Sook (This Time), where do we begin with the best songs by Violette Wautier?

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

Whilst many are familiar of the voice and songs by Violette Wautier, the artist only just debuted her first full abum in 2020 with Glitter and Smoke, an all-English album. This year, in October 2022, V released her second full album, this time following on a journey of self love. It is an interesting musical direction for the musician, as she leans more towards upbeat, danceable pop this time. Here are five songs that will get you warmed up to Violette Wautier.

Smoke

The English single Smoke went viral in 2020, and infatuated everyone with smoke. V uses smoke as a metaphor to show that smoke is like toxic love — as we know that it is bad, but many fail to step away from it. The song uses heavy electronic beats to blend with the darkness of her voice. This also comes through in the music video, where people commended the artful interpretation of the story through lighting. Most importantly, the artist’s very unique dance style made this song a huge hit.

Yaak Fung

Yaak Fung was released in 2016 as a single, using a guitar melody to narrate the story. The slow sound of the classic strings immediately bring to mind old pictures and memories. The lyrics describe the loop in the circle of love. It is a surreal, dreamy song. The music video therefore presents an atmosphere of love in a fictional world through a simple home video-style shoot.

I’d Do It Again

One of V’s very special English singles is I’d Do It Again, released in 2020, telling a love story. It is bittersweet but beautiful. Even though the relationship was over, if you could choose, would you choose to meet this person again? Even if you knew that it would have the same ending? The song uses heavy electronic beats with a medium tempo to present a floating, dreamy state of mind. The music video uses long shots and subtle lighting to add to this. It is absolutely one of the best songs to play in the car.

Kak Tua

When people worldwide were facing dark clouds, V turned her negative thoughts to positive ones. By doing so, she transformed a negative word which discourages people into a positive one. Kak Tua (quarantine) is a single that was released at a time when the artist wanted to encourage people across the country. It was released in 2021. It is a pop song with a fun tempo that encourages listeners to dance along. The lyrics play with the Thai word Kak Tua. The music video sees added brightness as it stars some of Thailand’s most beloved actors: James-Jirayu Tangsrisuk and Kao-Jirayu Laongmanee.

Rawung Sia Jai (Warning)

This last one must is from the latest album. Rawung Sia Jai (Warning) has just been released recently, and focuses on fun, positive vibes. After producing many dark songs, the new album, including this song, is more upbeat and danceable. The cute and charming lyrics emphasise giving yourself value and love. The song features a colourful music video, with a sense of Y2K, which adds a sweet sense of nostalgia.

“To write heartbreak songs, experience is a must”: Violette Wautier on her musical process https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/digital-cover/heartbreak-songs-violette-wautier/ Wed, 07 Dec 2022 04:00:24 +0000 https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/?p=1855902

Even though many world-famous singers do not write their own songs, they can tell their stories through their lyrics, and that makes their music special and personal. Similarly, if you want to write a good love song, you should have experienced love.

What makes a good artist? Whether it is powerful and unique vocals, great lyrics that attract millions of people’s hearts, or the energy of entertaining the audience when shining on stage, Violette Wautier manages to bring all of these aspects together as one of the most talented artists of the minute.

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

People regard V as an artist filled with emotion in her work; she is very artistic. Notably, she always writes her own songs and produces her own music. Although many artists write songs by themselves, there are some, including Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, or Rihanna, who more often than not do not write their own songs. Even so, they are remain some of the best artists of our time, sending messages in music through their powerful vocals.

It is very powerful when an artist does write their own songs, as they can pull in their own experiences and come across as more relatable. In our chat, V told us that if you want to write good heartbreaking songs, you have to have experienced those emotions before.

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

“I think that it’s both necessary and it’s not. For me, I feel that the experience is important because we can use past experiences to write songs. If you’ve never experienced it before, it’ll be hard to make it your own. I think that if we have our own little things to add to a track, it’ll make that song more special and personal to us.”

The artists notes that she is inspired by Taylor Swift, who become famous for writing her own songs and winning songwriting awards.

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

Making your own piece of music from real experience is likely to reflect a deeper listeners’ state of mind. They’re listening and relating to the lyrics from personal experience. It proves that an artist is more than a performer on the stage, and the Thai-Belgian singer is a good example of this. We asked her to share her secret to captivating her audience in this way.

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

“It’s about the inner vibes and energy. If these two things are big, even if we are small, we’ll definitely get bigger than the stage [smiles].” An important part of this for V is dancing. The singer went viral after showcasing her unique dance moves on stage one time. People become obsessed, and started doing dance challenges based on her moves. It wasn’t so much the moves themselves, but rather the energy and inner vibe they exuded.

All clothes, accessories and watch from CHANEL

“Actually, it’s the choreography of the song named Smoke. If you wondered how it came to this, I just followed the theme. The song has kind of a floating vibe. I just thought of myself as smoke and then it became like that. Actually, those dance moves are a warm up before dancing. It’s not even a proper dance move, just flowing with the song. That’s it.” The artist smiles.

She is regarded as a fashion starlet who can perfectly mix and match Asian looks with European styles, be it when going out and about, travelling chic at the airport, or being hot on stage. As she says herself, clothes can “give us a shining aura.”

1

The cafe hopper

V likes to go cafe-hopping on more chill days. Here, she wears a long-sleeve, leopard print sweater paired with black shorts and a pair of yellow sneakers. Where the sweater and shoes are already outstanding, V goes casual on the accessories by wearing her hair in a low bun and wearing sunglasses.

2

On stage outfit

On stage, V likes to dress a little sexier, as she is a petite girl. She likes to go for a miniskirt and a crop top. Here, she picked a tweed miniskirt from her favourite brand, Chanel, with a plain black crop top, allowing the skirt to be in the spotlight this time. Her hair is loose and a little messy, ready to be flipped when she performs on stage.

3

At the airport

Being comfortable at the airport is very important. It is likely to get cold onboard, so long sleeves are essential. V choses an oversized logo print sweater with a pair of matching sweatpants. Sneakers are a must for this look, as well as a cap. Here, the artist looks like a European youngster getting ready to embark on her next big trip.

4

Flower market day

One of her sweeter looks, this one is from when V visited a flower market abroad. She picked a fresh green crop top with a black skirt featuring a side tie detail. To add a sense of chic to the look, she paired her outfit with tea-coloured sunglasses. Cheerful and suited to her location, it is a style many have loved to replicate.

5

Energetic look

A great head-to-toe look, V goes for a cotton blouse with fringes on the sleeves to display her sweeter side, contrasted with olive-green denim pants. These are matched with black boots, as a bright hat completes the look, together with black sunglasses. Interesting and energised, much like V herself.
