The largest indoor ski resort is opening in Shenzhen in October 2025

The largest indoor ski resort, Shenzhen Qianhai Huafa Snow World, is set to open in Shenzhen, China, this 2025.

Shenzhen Qianhai Huafa Snow World, set to be the world’s largest and lowest-latitude indoor ski resort, is set to open in October 2025.

According to developers, the project has a total investment of around ¥29.6 billion RMB ($4.2 billion USD) and covers approximately 100,000 square meters, an area equal to 11 soccer fields. The longest ski track at Shenzhen Qianhai Huafa Snow World will be 441 meters, which is around a 2 to 3 minute ride for an intermediate skier or snowboarder and the highest drop will be 83 meters.

For comparison, the largest indoor snow park currently open in South China is the Guangzhou Sunac Snow Park which measures approximately 75,000 square meters. Opened in September this year, Shanghai L*SNOW is currently the world’s largest in the category as certified by the Guiness World Records, measuring 98,828.7 square meters.

With a subtropical climate, residents of the region often travel far and wide for their winter fix on the slopes. With the Huafa resort, developers promise facilities capable of hosting international ski competitions and professional training courses 365 days a year.

As a whole the development is snow-themed, featuring ceramic boards and aluminium panel details which interpret the texture of glaciers and ice crystals through its glowing facade. To reduce its carbon footprint, the main building is  lined with solar panels and a water management system harvests rainwater to irrigate the landscape.

With sweeping riverfront views, the entertainment hub is linked to the airport as well as different intercity and local transportation networks,  including a new metro line stop, allowing residents and travelers alike to easily access the location. Below the Snow Park itself is a dynamic FUNMIX Zone housing various other retail, entertainment and office spaces which serve as an exciting gateway to the ski centre. The most convenient stay will be at the new JW Marriott featuring a spacious ballroom with panoramic views of the ski slope.

Stay tuned for more details and images as the project nears completion in the latter half of  2025.
